Food is still great and very consistent. Food comes out really fast. I now regularly stop by twice a week for lunch.

Honey walnut shrimp, don't get it . Way over prices and over battered. Panda express's honey walnut is way better .

Ive never ordered honey walnut shrimp at a Chinese restaurant and there be some left over at the end. It's trash, batter is way way too thick! I never been to a Chinese restaurant where they didn't include bones in spare ribs, felt weird. This isn't a Chinese restaurant Chinese people actually go too. Standard utensils were fork and spoon, no chop sticks. Price is too high for everything. Combo fried rice was decent.

I expect Lock Chun is enjoyable for those looking for a reasonably priced American-Chinese restaurant, with most flavors being tuned to that palate. I can safely recommend it for those seeking that kind of fare. For more authentic Chinese food, I'd advise looking elsewhere. My personal misgivings aside, I had no qualms with service or value as staff interactions were quite friendly and the lunch special is a pretty good deal for the quantity of food. Parking wasn't too hard to find and it's situated near a convenient crossroads, so good for a quick meal during errands. Lunch specials covered your standard fare of Chinese dishes, but my go to for testing the waters has always been twice cooked pork. Specials come with a spring roll, soup, and serving of chow mein/white-rice/fried-rice. Twice cooked pork - 3/5 Decently good amount of food for the price, but generally pretty salty without too much depth. Ended up having to drink a lot of water to compensate for the saltiness. Nothing particularly special in terms of quality or preparation, but nothing terribly amiss either. Flavor is definitely more Americanized than not, as the hot and sour wasn't spicy at all. Not using pork belly added to the dryness, and needed more umami with less sodium. Absence of bean paste or heat was quite noticeable. Spring roll was a cabbage base and well-fried, coming with mustard and duck sauce.

Lunch special Sweet And Sour Pork; really good

In our household, it's a tradition to grab some American-Chinese food on Dec.26. We don't have a special place we go to and sometimes some of our experiences end up in disappointment. Luckily, and thanks to Yelp recommendations, Lock Chin did not disappoint. There is plenty of parking in the shopping plaza, but the restaurant itself is on the small to medium side (maybe around 10 tables). Walking in, we saw 4 other parties seated (guess we all had the same idea). There was nobody at the reception area but a woman quickly emerged from the back and seated us right away. I was craving sweet-sour pork and when I spotted it on their lunch menu, I was sold. The lunch comes with soup of the day, egg roll, your choice of rice/noodles and the entree. With prices averaging around $15, that's a steal. Soup of the day happened to be one of my favorites: hot and sour. I was surprised by how generous the portion was and by the amount of ingredients in this "free" soup. Usually you will find one bamboo shoot and maybe a strip of tofu, but this was stacked. Honestly, I would come back just for this soup. I ended up getting my pork with friend rice. The pork was juicy, the batter had the perfect amount of thickness to keep it crunchy (even drenched in yummy sauce), and the portion was big enough to take home. The fried rice was great too. I was super happy and satisfied. The egg roll was pretty bland and I probably wouldn't order it as an appetizer, but since it was free I can't complain. Overall, I was super happy with this choice and this may become our go-to going forward.

Lunch special: beef with Chinese barbecued sauce, spring roll, chow mein

This place is in the Woodhams center plaza (easy to spot white and green sign). Parking was 80% full on Friday at noon. The restaurant looks really clean and nicely decorated with art on the walls. We ordered lunch specials which came with a soup of the day was hot and sour soup with firm tofu and small sliced vegetables. The included spring roll was crispy and flaky with only cabbage inside as far as I could tell, and the sauce that came with it was very sweet and had wasabi on the side. 1. Sweet and sour pork with fried rice: The fried rice was more like plain rice with bits of carrots, egg, and peas, but the pork tasted great overall although some of the pieces were a little chewy. 2. Beef with Chinese barbecued sauce: Definitely not what I was expecting as far as Chinese BBQ goes (I thought it'd be like the same sauce on Chinese bbq pork) but overall the slightly sweet sauce paired well with the beef and assorted vegetables. I almost thought it was just Mongolian beef but with different vegetables.

We waited for probably 15-20 minutes which wasn't too bad. The place is pretty big and fits a good amount of people. The food was great. They have also opened a location in Cupertino that is more convenient for me. Adding Mian to this plaza definitely livened it up, it was so difficult finding parking and then there was an hour wait when we joined the waitlist. We wandered around Grocery Outlet and Savers to pass the time. I came with a group of 6 people. We ordered the sichuan spicy fries and fried chicken cutlet to share. The fries were the spiciest item I had that day, wow! I ordered the Sichuan chicken cold noodles, extra spicy. They were not spicy at all. I left everyone at the table try them and they all agreed it was not spicy. Kind of disappointing, I expected them to be spicier than the fries at least. My partner had the chengdu zajiang noodles, mild spicy. They were good, the signature dish of the restaurant. I would return, but their spice levels are very inconsistent.

Would've preferred a spicier soup, and noted it didn't have that wok hei, similar to other Korean places. Overall a decent bowl, and the best dish we had. Kan pung gi - first time eating this dish but it was a lot sweeter than expected. There was a bit of a crunch, but nowhere as crunchy as other Korean fried chicken places. Meat itself didn't have much flavor either. A disappointment, but part of it was our preference in taste as well. Green beans - really dry and some were undercooked. Not really much flavor in the dish. Biggest disappointment. Service - we never got check ins, unless we flagged someone down - not usually a big deal, but it was hard to flag anyone down when we wanted drinks and our check. They also kept mixing tables up, and tried to give other table's orders to us three times. We also never got our banchan refills, even though they took it away early on in our meal. Ambiance - a run of the mill small restaurant, nothing fancy. Parking is tight in the back. Didn't have much of a wait on Sunday at 7:30pm.

Love the more unique baby corn and water chestnut in this dish - Stir Fried Eggplant: don't mistake this as a health dish - it is absolutely glistening with oil. The beef was super tender in both dishes, but I regret ordering the mongolian beef because they ended up having the same flavor profile. I would probably stick with the beef chow fun, and just order a different entree. They only have basic condiments like vinegar, salt, pepper, on the table but if you ask, they do have sriracha and chili oil to bring out. The chili oil had a good flavor, but wasn't spicy. We knew to go early, since they don't take reservations and we often see lines outside. We arrived at 10:30am and the front manager said if we can be done my 12:30, that they had a table for us. Party of 12, since we got there early, we agreed. The side room had the biggest round table for us. They ask you what kind of tea you want, we like chrysanthemum tea. You order the items on the paper menu and it comes to your table. So we got going on the orders and TBH, we must be hungry, because we did a lot of orders (we had plenty of left overs). Tried some favorites and a few new items that we thought were unique to their restaurant. My dad has to order crispy noodle and chow fun, and we also ordered chicken fried rice. The service was prompt and attentive, with enough servers to take care of the side room. Since it was the "sun room", the sun was shining through the windows and it was bright. Review from my parents: it was just meh, they prefer the other place near our house. I think the food is good, but probably won't come back again with a big group of us, since they don't have many big round tables. And personally, I prefer the whole experience of the ladies coming around with their carts. Perhaps their dinner menu is also worth trying. Bonus for us is that we can literally walk to this restaurant. Parking could be an issue if you come later.

Ironically, I'm not a fan of them myself--they're a bit too eggy for my taste. When it comes to dim sum quality and service, I honestly prefer Koi Palace. The food quality there is more consistent, and the service is much more phenomenal. The only things this place really has over Koi Palace are the lower prices and those black sesame custard buns my friend loves! I've been here at least a dozen times, and the food can be hit or miss. Sometimes dishes come out cold, like they've been sitting out for a while instead of being served fresh and hot. That said, there are a few items we always order that are consistently good when brought out fresh like salted crispy pork chops, siu mai, shrimp rolls, and fried calamari. Be prepared for a wait on weekends since it gets crowded. If you're coming with a large group, it's best to arrive before noon. The restaurant is located next to a hotel, and finding the restroom can be confusing since it's inside the hotel. Service is also pretty minimal--they seem understaffed, and I almost always have to flag someone down just to get basics like soy sauce, chili, and water. I don't understand why they don't just have the sauce on the table for guest to dip, but I get that they're saving $ on controlling the cost down. On my most recent visit, the experience really went downhill. Our table had food but no soy sauce, chilli nor water, and when I flagged a waiter multiple times, he got visibly annoyed and irritated. It was frustrating--we shouldn't have to chase someone down repeatedly for basic condiments. Being met with attitude for that honestly left a bad impression. That experience alone makes me reconsider coming back. Good food at a good price is one thing, but poor service--especially to that extent--can really ruin the overall experience.
