If you like an interactive dining experience, like a little organized chaos where you are part of a fast moving process then you came to the right place. Once at the table you set your own plate, poor your own water and then can order via a QR code or a human. The menu is huge. There is an excellent condiment bar where you get up and fetch what you want. The same bar has take home boxes and bags which you deal with at the end of the process. A food robot goes back and forth and appears to be bringing plates to and from the kitchen. Multiple human servers/helpers are moving around you continuously as they drop off and pick up plates at your table and the tables around you. The tables turn so fast, you are paying the bill while your codiner is filling the take home boxes. Huge portions of food at reasonable prices come speeding out not long after you are done ordering. The Breakdown: - Hot and sour soup - very good, lots of mushrooms - Walnut prawns - excellent, light on the mayo, deep fried to perfection - Sesame chicken - excellent. We came here with a group and initially had a pretty good experience. The food actually tasted good, and we ordered several different dishes to share. Unfortunately, everything changed when someone at our table was serving themselves food and found what appeared to be an insect larva in one of the dishes. We took a picture of it, and after seeing that, I honestly lost my appetite and didn't want to continue eating anything else. I will give the restaurant credit for how they responded. They took the dish that it was found in off our bill and also brought our table a plate of desserts as an apology. I appreciate that they acknowledged the situation and tried to make it right. However, finding something like that in food is extremely concerning and completely changed the experience for me. It was especially upsetting because we had already been eating and sharing the different dishes at the table. The food was good up until that point, but once we found it, I just couldn't continue eating. The cold dishes also come in big portions, and I liked that they have a self-serve cold dish bar where you can see everything before ordering. The cucumbers were really good, while the pig ears were a bit less impressive. Of all the Home Eats this by far the worst in food quality. We ordered our regular Fashion Wok. Very little broth with too much tough, tasteless beef. We complained to the server who said we need to talk to manager which we couldn't find. My family and I came here ordered two sides, two entrees, and a plate of chicken wings. We did order with the app it took a while for a waiter to attend to our table, but eventually someone helped us to complete the order. It was more than enough food to feed us all with leftover. It was friday evening and it looked almost full but there but tons of tables, and we got seated after served fairly quickly. I was thinking about checking out a different Chinese restaurant today but after reading a bunch of glowing reviews from you Yelpers about this place I changed my mind and headed over here. They have a private medium sized parking lot which was pretty empty when we arrived at 4:40 pm "when we left at 5;50 pm it was jam packed" Walking up I noticed that they had call to order pictures on the outside wall and when we walked in there were " tastefully done," scrolling digital call to order pictures everywhere of their food as well as call to order signs. We were seated right away by their staff (the staff here are fantastic) I asked a few questions on our selections as a couple of our selections had multiple choices. As we were ordering a robot passed by our table "see video" I thought it was hilarious. We ordered the combination fried rice, the pork and chicken wonton soup, and the honey walnut shrimp. They gave us water and a pot and Jasmine tea with our food. $58 for said food. The amount of food they gave us was... well.., way way more than wifey and I both expected "again see pictures" The food: The Wonton soup: while it did not taste like the (American style Chinese wonton soup) it was really really good! Dare I say excellent? 5 stars. The combination fried rice: Now I'm that guy who puts gallons of sweet-and-sour on my fried rice and actually pored one package of it on, after I pored it on I realized that this fried rice is so good that the sweet-and-sour actually ruined its flavor! Needless to say I didn't put anymore on. Their combination fried rice gets 5 stars. The honey walnut shrimp: The batter was nice and crispy but the flavor was a little off for my taste, while it was good, it wasn't great. 2.5 stars "lands right in the average area of taste" will I order it again? Probably not. (Side note the glazed walnuts that come with it are excellent) Overall impressions: This is a great restaurant to eat at. The beef was tender and had a little kick. The cumin lamb also had a good crisp to it. The beef wrap was so much bigger than I imagined it to be. It was definitely the highlight for me. It had plenty of veggies (including whole green onion chunks) and plenty of beef. The a choy also felt pretty fresh. Finally, I really like how the fried rice had some pickled mustard greens. They gave fortune cookies at the end. The biggest downside about eating here is that basically everything is oily. Combination Fried Rice This wasn't a bad fried rice at all. It had all the ingredients I enjoy: peas, carrots, egg, pork, and more. The rice itself wasn't mushy, and the portion size was generous. However, it was a little on the oily side and lacked that flavorful aftertaste you usually want from a good fried rice. Still, it was an enjoyable dish overall. Hot Pot Nothing too special about this one. As you can see, there was a good amount of vegetables and a decent amount of meat. Most of the ingredients were the traditional hot pot items you'd typically find at shabu restaurants. I just wish there was more meat included. The soup base wasn't overly spicy but had a decent kick to it. Personally, I wouldn't order this dish again. Honey Walnut Shrimp This was probably the best dish out of the three. The walnuts tasted fresh, the shrimp was fried nicely, and the vegetables underneath weren't overly soggy. The only downside was the honey mayo sauce -- it leaned a little too sweet, which could be overpowering for some people. Other than that, I wouldn't mind ordering this again. Overall, the 4.8-star rating feels a bit generous, but this place is not bad. The quality could be improved, but it's hard to complain about the prices and value. Pork & Cabbage Dumplings - We ordered the classic combination of pork and cabbage and it did not disappoint. The dumplings were pretty large and were piping hot as well as juicy on the inside. It was elevated by the vinegar chili oil sauce on the side which gave it a slight kick and sourness. There was a mild amount of parking outside of the restaurant, and the interior was clean with a sleek, monochromatic ambiance. Although Home Eat is designed moreso for group meals (like most Chinese restaurants tend to me), there was no awkwardness that came from the fact that I came alone. The waiter was relatively friendly, and I noticed that there was also a robot that was also delivering food to people. Since I was only one person, I decided to get the Beef Chow Fun. It tasted good and I was able to eat the entire sitting on my own, which I'm not sure is really sad or really impressive. Regardless, it fulfilled the random "beef chow fun" craving that I've been having for a while, so it did its job. Overall, a nice experience.
