We went to a candlelight concert at the SJ State campus and got hungry afterward. I found this cute dumpling spot nearby & we were seated right away. The interior is simple and basic. We ordered the shrimp & chive dumplings, spicy wontons, shrimp dim sum & wonton noodle soup. Everything was good. I usually don't like very authentic Chinese food because of the strong herby, pungent spice smells but this place didn't have that at all, which I really appreciated. The young lady who took our order was very nice & the prices were decent. Overall it was a great experience, and I'll definitely come back. The only downside is that parking can be tricky since it's in the downtown area. read more

My MBA friend "Z" brought me here so I'm very blessed. This place is great for students for great high quality dumplings at a cheap price. The service has been excellent. I came at non-peak business hours so it was rather respectful and quiet. I'm sure the volume is going to be out the window when it's jam-packed. Came here on a Friday night after a few drinks, so take this review with a grain of salt. I ordered the beef noodle soup, and the standout for me was the noodles. The texture was fantastic - chewy, bouncy, and cooked perfectly. The beef was also incredibly tender and practically melted in my mouth. That said, the broth was a little underwhelming. While it was comforting, it didn't have the depth I was looking for. It tasted a bit bland compared to others I've had. I also ordered the chili oil wontons (8 pieces). Unfortunately, they weren't spicy at all. I was expecting at least a little kick, but the chili oil was very mild. The wonton wrappers were thicker than I personally prefer, though the filling was generous and substantial. I ended up pouring the chili oil from the wontons into my beef noodle soup to add some extra flavor. They also provided a side of chili oil, but again, it wasn't particularly spicy. Overall, the noodles and beef were excellent, but I wish the broth and chili oil packed more flavor and heat. Maybe I'll try this place again when I'm sober. read more

I will say xiao long bao is okay, nothing terribly impressive, BUT everything else was bomb! -Shumai are HUGE -Hargow are also HUGE -Scallion noodles blew my mind. Do not let the high reviews this place has fool you, I had been waiting to try this place for some time as I work in the area and after eating here for lunch I was like "HOW IS THIS PLACE 4.7 STARS?" So here is my honest review, prices are good in that "right near a collage campus" affordable type of way but the food really quickly shows you why the price is what it is. We had several dumplings, the siu mai, wagyu dumplings, XLBs and chili wontons. The XLBs were the only decent thing. The chili wontons had no chili, the wagyu dumplings were over steamed and falling apart and the siu mai was nothing special. We also got the scallion noodles with beef and there were no scallions just scallion oil and it was SUPER bland, tried adding soy sauce and vinegar and chili oil we asked for just to try and make it taste like something. I'm also not sure what type of beef they put in top but it was hard to eat. The only thing I did like was the cucumber salad. Definitely not a place I would come back to. Definitely no idea what the high ratings are about. read more

Not bad but definitely could be better! I think if you come here, definitely go for their boiled dumplings over the soup dumplings. I really enjoyed their boiled wagyu beef dumplings! Very flavorful with tons of beef. The chicken & corn one was pretty good as well. However, the soup dumplings weren't very soupy and not the best. The meat sauce over rice was super tasty as well, but unfortunately we found a hair in it. I also enjoyed the cucumber salad which was really addicting and refreshing. The chili oil wontons were just okay; good flavor but there wasn't chili oil on it. Beef noodle soup was on the saltier side but not bad. We came about an hour before closing but everyone was still very accommodating and nice! The place itself was very clean and bright. The family and I were looking for a decent Sunday morning dim sum spot, somewhere new and off of our normal beaten path. We did our normal yelp scouring and stumbled on MeiMei dumpling and were pleasantly surprised. MeiMei's dumplings rivals a lot of the dimsum restaurants, though it's more of a dumpling house than a dimsum restaurant. The dumplings are hand made and steamed fresh. We had the chili oil dumplings, MeiMei house dumplings and XLB, all were very good. It's a small casual and quaint spot right across from SJSU. Was a bit suspicious about the high rating for this restaurant as I saw some folks with no or minimal past reviews leaving 5-star ratings for this place. Came here on a rainy day and saw that they offer a free lava bun if you give them a good review. Was that one of the reasons why they currently have a 4.8 rating on Yelp? My hubby and I still both tried their beef noodle soup and were disappointed that it didn't appear like in the past photos. What a find! Whenever I come to the South Bay I crave dumplings. Tried Meimei Dumplings for the 1st time and very much enjoyed it. The soup dumplings were my favorite. I also enjoyed the cucumber salad on this warm evening. I also tried the pork buns. They were 'just okay" for me. The ladies at the counter were nice and attentive. I recommend trying this place. The location is in the walkway between third and fourth streets. They mentioned that they get a lot of sun during part of the day so they have reflective glass which made us unsure if they were open. They were. The location has plenty of places to sit. But was a little warm and stuffy inside so we intended to just get our food to go. Girl at the counter was nice. The wait for our food was longer than expected and cost more than we'd expect for the small quantity of pieces that came with our order. The har gow were pastier than we've ever had before. Which worried us a bit. Soup dumplings were ok. Cucumber salad was fresh but lacking in flavor.
