Worth going back the next day, and I did As a dumpling connoisseur, I don't say this lightly: Meimei's siu mai is the real deal. I was in town for work, had sushi at the place next door, and decided to give Meimei a try on a whim. So glad I did. I ordered to go and got the wagyu beef dumplings and the Jumbo Siu Mai. Both were outstanding, but the siu mai stole the show. The menu lists shrimp, mushroom, shiitake, and juicy pork, and you can taste every element. The filling is plump, savory, and moist, with a nice snap from the shrimp and an earthy depth from the mushrooms. Each one is topped with a generous crown of roe, which adds a pop of brine and color. The wagyu beef dumplings had tender wrappers and a rich filling, and they held up well even packed to go. The siu mai was so good that I went back the next day for more. This time I added the ha gao, and they were delicious too. The wrappers were delicate and translucent with a clean, slightly chewy bite, and the shrimp inside was fresh and sweet. That's the mark of a kitchen that knows what it's doing. If you're a dumpling lover, or just someone who needs a great meal while traveling, put Meimei on your list. Order the siu mai first. I'll be back next time I'm in town.
Downtown SJ, convenient location, friendly staff, reasonable prices and good food. The beef dumplings were pretty good. The beef ribs noodles were good, I wished the quantity was slightly more. Roomy place and clean store.
First time trying Meimei Dumpling. The best siu mai I have ever eaten- the jumbo size was impressive . The beef noodle soup tasted very natural. The cucumber was very fresh, good flavor Good service. Cute ambiance.
My MBA friend "Z" brought me here so I'm very blessed. This place is great for students for great high quality dumplings at a cheap price. The service has been excellent. I came at non-peak business hours so it was rather respectful and quiet. I'm sure the volume is going to be out the window when it's jam-packed. I hope for their business to do well so keep it respectful despite it being busy. I loved their beef wagyu dumplings. Was so good I didn't even need any sauce. Highly recommend with my utmost respectful regards!

We ordered the cucumber salad, wagyu dumplings, marinated beef, and picked mustard greens noodle soup. The cucumber salad was perfectly seasoned but not too salty. The dumpling skin was a bit thick and I would skip next time. The marinated beef was lean which I liked. The service was quick so it's great for a quick bite. It does get a bit noisy here so if you are looking for a quiet place to dine this would not be it. I would come back for a quick casual bite.
Came here on a Friday night after a few drinks, so take this review with a grain of salt. I ordered the beef noodle soup, and the standout for me was the noodles. The texture was fantastic - chewy, bouncy, and cooked perfectly. The beef was also incredibly tender and practically melted in my mouth. That said, the broth was a little underwhelming. While it was comforting, it didn't have the depth I was looking for. It tasted a bit bland compared to others I've had. I also ordered the chili oil wontons (8 pieces). Unfortunately, they weren't spicy at all. I was expecting at least a little kick, but the chili oil was very mild. The wonton wrappers were thicker than I personally prefer, though the filling was generous and substantial. I ended up pouring the chili oil from the wontons into my beef noodle soup to add some extra flavor. They also provided a side of chili oil, but again, it wasn't particularly spicy. Overall, the noodles and beef were excellent, but I wish the broth and chili oil packed more flavor and heat. Maybe I'll try this place again when I'm sober.
Very casual environment but the people are friendly and the food is excellent. It's really all about the dumplings so definitely try the house dumplings.
Came here on a Saturday night. I parked at a garage that was roughly across the street. AMAZING food and service! The location is a very cute and chill spot, a little cramped. I will say xiao long bao is okay, nothing terribly impressive, BUT everything else was bomb! -Shumai are HUGE -Hargow are also HUGE -Scallion noodles blew my mind. Tasted like scallions in noodle form -Beef noodle soup exceeded my expectations. Flavorful broth, tasty beef, delicious noodles! Gets my Taiwanese taste buds stamp of approval!
Do not let the high reviews this place has fool you, I had been waiting to try this place for some time as I work in the area and after eating here for lunch I was like "HOW IS THIS PLACE 4.7 STARS?" So here is my honest review, prices are good in that "right near a collage campus" affordable type of way but the food really quickly shows you why the price is what it is. We had several dumplings, the siu mai, wagyu dumplings, XLBs and chili wontons. The XLBs were the only decent thing. The chili wontons had no chili, the wagyu dumplings were over steamed and falling apart and the siu mai was nothing special. We also got the scallion noodles with beef and there were no scallions just scallion oil and it was SUPER bland, tried adding soy sauce and vinegar and chili oil we asked for just to try and make it taste like something. I'm also not sure what type of beef they put in top but it was hard to eat. The only thing I did like was the cucumber salad. Definitely not a place I would come back to. Definitely no idea what the high ratings are about.

The chili oil wontons were just okay; good flavor but there wasn't chili oil on it. Beef noodle soup was on the saltier side but not bad. We came about an hour before closing but everyone was still very accommodating and nice! The place itself was very clean and bright. I'd love to come back for the boiled dumplings and give em another chance!

The beef is super tender, and the noodles have that perfect QQ chewiness that makes every bite satisfying. The dumplings are clearly handmade, with wrappers that hit the sweet spot--not too thick, not too thin--and packed with juicy filling. You can really taste the quality. Highly recommend the Wagyu dumplings--they're rich, flavorful, and totally worth it. Definitely coming back!
This place is definitely my new hyper fixation! I am HELLA obsessed with their Siumai! Like hella! The amount of shrimp & meat and the quality. Chefs kiss! It comes with 3 pieces but they are hugeeee and I feel full. This and a side of their cucumber salad. YUM. A perfect lunch! I also really liked their wonton noodle soup but the portions are too big for me.

Previous reviews weren't kidding, the Shiu Mais are huuuuge! Must try, pretty good! We also got the beef ribs noodle soup, chili oil wonton, marinated beef, shrimp chive dumplings. We recommend the noodle soup, wonton, and dumplings. Not so crowded for sat lunch, good grab after visiting tech interactive in the morning. Most staff speak mandarin. The place is well lit and warm. read more

Really enjoyed my meal at Meimei Dumpling! The beef noodle soup was flavorful with a rich, comforting broth and tender beef. The xiao long bao were juicy with plenty of delicious soup inside, and the shiu mai were fresh, well-seasoned, and delicious. Everything came out hot, and the quality was consistent throughout the meal. The restaurant was clean, comfortable, and well maintained, which made the dining experience even better. One thing to note is that it's tucked away in the corner, so it can be a little easy to miss if it's your first visit. There's no dedicated parking lot, so plan on finding street parking nearby. I got the chicken dumplings and the char siu bao. The chicken dumplings were juicy and flavorful! I also really recommend getting the char siu bao's, it was a great balance of sweet and savory! Our server was very nice and the place was very modern. read more

Saw the high ratings at this place, so I decided to give it a try but was really disappointed. I also saw they had a sign on the tables saying if you leave a good review, they give you free lava custard buns. So it's a gimmick. Service was good though. Beef noodle soup was small portioned & bland, the beef was tender though. Xiao long bao was plain and not juicy. Beef dumplings were bland and the spicy won tons sauce was salty. The location is in the walkway between third and fourth streets. They mentioned that they get a lot of sun during part of the day so they have reflective glass which made us unsure if they were open. They were. The location has plenty of places to sit. But was a little warm and stuffy inside so we intended to just get our food to go. Girl at the counter was nice. The wait for our food was longer than expected and cost more than we'd expect for the small quantity of pieces that came with our order. The har gow were pastier than we've ever had before. Which worried us a bit. Soup dumplings were ok. Cucumber salad was fresh but lacking in flavor. All in all it was fine, but we've had better dim sum for less effort with parking, price, etc. read more

Was a bit suspicious about the high rating for this restaurant as I saw some folks with no or minimal past reviews leaving 5-star ratings for this place. Came here on a rainy day and saw that they offer a free lava bun if you give them a good review. Was that one of the reasons why they currently have a 4.8 rating on Yelp? My hubby and I still both tried their beef noodle soup and were disappointed that it didn't appear like in the past photos. The portion was significantly smaller, the beef was too fatty and I had to "search" the bowl for three small pieces of bok choy. So be warned! read more

A quick and delicious dinner! The Vegetable Dumplings were delicious and had a nice variety of veggies & tofu in it! The service was great, and they were very sweet in serving me a side of bok choy that wasn't on their main menu (thank you!!!). Overall great service! read more
Came here on a rainy day and was perfect. I did a dine in order and take out for later. Service was friendly and fast. I took my time eating and didn't feel rushed. They came with ice cold water. The dumplings had good dough to filling ratio. The waygu beef was tender and not chewy. I wasn't a huge fan of the chili wonton - it wasn't as spicy so I did have to ask for extra chili. However all in all a great experience and fulfilling for the dumplings cravings read more
