Having a food spot at a mall especially in their food court. Typically comes with low expectations fast food you guzzle down and continue shopping. I was not expecting flavor like this quality like this from them. This was totally enjoyable. I couldn't even eat it in its entirety. The broth packed with flavors that burst in your mouth. The fresh noodle. They give u a lot and combined with the bok Choy and the nuggets of beef caution I was utterly shocked it how much I enjoyed this. Talk about raising the bar for food court dining.
Having been to their location in Cupertino, it was nice to find this outlet in Valley Fair, closer to San Jose. It's at the mall food court, but they have made it look a little more upscale than some mall food courts. You can order on a touchpad or from the cashier. They don't have quite as many options as the restaurant in Cupertino. I got the noodles with chili oil and braised beef, and they were really delicious. It's interesting, everything is packaged in to-go containers, but if you ask for it to-go, it will be served cold to reheat at home. It was convenient to be able to take some of my noodles home since it is a huge serving. Everything is made fresh to order and was delicious.

You'll find the Ox 9 right next to the Popeye's in the food court. My visit: I've enjoyed their noodles at their original location up in San Mateo, and the offerings here are just as good, despite the busy food court vibe. With every noodle bowl, you get to choose between four different styles of noodles as your starch. Thin or thick round noodles or narrow or Wide Flat Noodles. Since I'm a big fan of Chinese Chow Fun, the Wide Flat Noodles were a natural choice for me. There was a short line when I got there, and the help here is friendly and courteous. Scan the menu, place your order and get a number. Within 3 minutes, I had my order and the search was on to look for an empty table to enjoy my meal. My order: #11) Soybean Paste Dry Noodles (with minced pork) 9.5/10. Super Yummy. Flavorful plate that walks the line between savory and mildly sweet. Given the hot weather outside, I chose this non-soup noodle plate is served slightly warm. As my order was the to-go version, I mixed in the Pork and soybean paste into the noodles myself a scoop at a time into the wide flat noodles that I chose for this order. I really loved every bite. The paste can be a bit oily, but you can separate the oil yourself with the to-go version. Either way, I would not hesitate to order this again.I've also tried their beef noodle soups, and they are very good too! Verdict: Yup.. Ox 9 is a solid choice for a good meal here at Valley Fair. Even with all the strong competition from great eateries inside this gigantic mall, Ox 9 remains one of my top favorites.

This place is located in the mall's food court and is more of a counter-service spot. I ordered the braised beef stew noodle and it was actually really good. Comforting and flavorful. The service was good too, quick and friendly. A solid option if you're grabbing food before or after shopping.
Fast service but long wait time. We sat for a while and had to routinely check our numbers because they dont call it out. The food was spectacular though. Noodles bouncy, soup tangy and spicy. It came out burnin5got so make sure to be cautious if serving to others.
This spot is in the food court and it's the best spot in the food court. They're fast & convenient & the soup remains really hot. I definitely recommend getting the hand-pulled noodles - it's very filling!

The noodles were all stuck together into a ball so it was hard to separate initially. The beef brisket slices were tender but there were only a few thin slices. So definitely not a good value.
Ordered the Lanzhou hand-pulled noodles, braised beef stew noodle soup, and popcorn chicken. When I opened the Lanzhou noodles and mixed in the chili oil, I noticed a tiny piece of hair, or possibly an eyelash. I hadn't even taken a single bite yet, and it immediately grossed me out. The portions also seemed smaller than what others have posted. The beef stew had only two pieces of tendon and four small scraps of beef. Even the popcorn chicken box wasn't filled to the top. The broth for both noodle soups was just okay. Overall, I prefer their Cupertino location. read more

if you're looking for a filling, affordable mall snack or meal, this will fill u up in no time! I always order small flat noodles with beef soup, and it hits the spot everytime. The portions are humongous and whenever I share with another person, I leave feeling so bloated, but it's ok because I love noodles. The small flat is the perfect texture for those who love flat noodles but don't want to cut them with scissors because they are too big. It's the perfect slurpling noodle and the beef is tender as well. The soup is light which complements the saltier beef chunks. Might be hard to find a table to eat here since it can get pretty packed, but they also have outdoor seating read more

quick and friendly service! i got my order right away after ordering (wait around less than 8 mins) m i got the dry noodles chili oil with everything on it (meat and vegetables). it was delicious!! however i don't recommend the chili oil noodles if your stomach is sensitive to spicy!! your stomach will end up hurting anyways the noodles were nice and chewy! meat was tender!! surprisingly good for mall food court read more

Wanted Ramen Nagi but got denied due to long queue. So went to food court and tried Ox 9. It wasn't bad. My wife tried the tonkatsu and I had the beef stew. Ordering was quick and the food came out at a decent time. The soup was good quality and temperature was hot. I just didn't like it well enough. Since it's in the food court it was very lucky of us to get seats. Just a busy place. read more
So the good .. the food itself was amazing! I liked observing the gentleman creating the hand pulled noodles as he was stretching and swirling the large dough around. The calamari was delicious and paired nicely with the sweet and savory dipping sauce. The noodles were definitely fresh even the texture biting into them was so soft and tender. The bad .. nothing against the establishment but as I was sitting in the mall court area eating .. I saw a cockroach run across the table I was eating at ! I was grossed out and left . I would go into the actual restaurant next time and not the mall to have the full experience. read more
westfield valley fair mall food court...a line to the order counter on a saturday afternoon...mall is next to santana row and always busy....ready to order and taking #1 lanzhou handpulled noodle soup $14.59 and popcorn chicken $6.99...about $25 total after tax and pay...food is out fairly quickly...find a table to eat...a good sized bowl of noodle soup and a take out box filled with popcorn chicken...the chicken was lightly battered and crispy...seasoned generously and a good snack for the kid...the noodle soup was light and soothing...a good tasty filling bowl... read more

The broth was boiling hot, so it was difficult to eat in a rush.i thought the noodles were bit too hard. Would not recommend this place if you are in a rush. read more
I wanted to try this spot in the food court. This happens to replace the ramen shop I used to go to. The food is average here. The meat is tender, but the noodles are too bland and chewy. I honestly should have gotten the thinner ones. You can basically choose what type of noodles you want. The soup is alright. Overall, the noodles take up most of the meal, which isn't a good sign. The old ramen shop is much better in my opinion. Perhaps, I should have go to another place to eat in the food court or other restaurants in the mall. read more
We were at the mall looking for a convenient meal, and ended up choosing Ox 9! This was my first time trying their food. They have a few other locations in and around the Bay Area, so they seemed like a reputable choice to eat from. My BF and I decided to order the chili oil noodles to share. As we were eating it, it didn't taste spicy at all... we thought this was odd, but it tasted decent anyways so we continued eating and asked for chili oil on the side to add some spice. I realized recently after looking at photos of their dishes / just before writing this review that we ended up getting the incorrect order lol. Looks like we were given the soybean paste noodles? Regardless, the noodles we got were okay. The noodles were mushy and congealed, and the soybean paste was very mild; it felt like it was missing something. For almost $15 after tax, I'd definitely just opt for a smaller mall snack in the future! read more

We were in the mall looking for food and saw a guy in the back actually pulling and making noodles, so we had to try them out. The menu had offered different hand pulled noodles either as a soup or dry dish. You can choose your noodle thickness and spiciness. We got the Lanzhou hand pulled noodle soup and soybean paste noodles. I preferred the soybean paste noodles. The soup was refreshing but had a little too much cilantro for my taste. The noodles themselves did taste fresh and chewy. Food came out fairly fast and the staff were nice and helpful. Overall a good option and would get them again. read more
Authentic Chinese noodles. Simple menu. It's a good restaurant chain and rarely disappoint in flavors and taste. Foods are restaurant quality here. It's located next to Popeyes. This is certainly a great choice inside the food court area of Westfield Valley Fair shopping mall. I had the #2 Braised beef with Chinese pickles noodle soup/small flat noodles $15.99. Tasted great! Beef was tender, noodles were fresh and soft in texture, good portions of vegetables in my noodle soup bowl, and cashier even offered me their sauces. Vinaigrette was my favorite because it's the same strong dark vinaigrette as ones served inside Shanghai dumpling spots. You can really taste the strong sweet and sourness kick to it. Dips well with the long stretchy handmade noodles. Chili sauce is authentic too. Great for noodle dipping. Loved it. For a Chinese noodle spot, it's not cheap due to inflation, but their noodles are well made and decent. This chain can win many food competitions because the quality is in the making noodles process. It didn't take long to receive my order. Cashier was friendly and helpful. Employees are hardworking in the kitchen. This is definitely much better than expected. The soup base was a bit different than what I'm used to eating in Guangdong or Hong Kong, but it's Lanzhou style, so not bad at all. I am open to trying everything else next time. I was killing time in Valley Fair and have always heard about Ox 9 Lanzhou Handpulled Noodles and loved they had a location in a mall food-court! I ordered the Lanzhou Handpulled Noodles Soup with the medium round noodles. The noodles and meat both tasted very fresh, and I loved adding the chili oil to the broth. There weren't that many people in line when I went, so my food came out very fast. I wish my area had malls with food courts as good as Valley Fair! read more
The texture of the wide noodles itself was pretty good - I liked it. Portion size was very small though - Not sure if that is because this location is from a food court, but I was still hungry after I finished. I've seen photos of their food (for other locations), and those look way bigger. The amount of food I got here was just barely over half of the bowl itself. There's no meat in their chili oil noodle, but I do like the amount of veggies they give. Although, it felt like there were more veggies than noodles. The noodles were also all stuck together at the bottom even though I ate it immediately in the food court. Overall, their food is not bad, but there are many other better options in this mall (for about the same price). It would also be great if they had an option for us to make it more spicy. read more
I would say this is one of the better options in the food court! I was pretty surprised that this opened up here since it's not an easy grab-and-go kind of spot. I would say it's better eaten right away to get the best noodle texture. You can't go wrong with the #1 Lanzhou Handpulled Noodle Soup! Thinly sliced radish and tender beef... The flavorful clear broth and chili oil on the side... SO GOOD! I could eat this every week. It's the perfect comfort food. My favorite is the small flat noodle shape. read more

The usual fried options in the food court weren't looking too appealing and I was looking for a smallish snack. I've noticed Ox 9 around town before but never had the chance to try. A big ole bowl of soup noodles seemed like it would bump me up a shirt size so I opted for the Chili Oil Dry Wide Noodles. I don't think you are going to get a dish with fresher tasting veggies in the food court. The bok choy was perfectly cooked, not too limp, not too raw. The rest of the veggies reminded me of a bibimbap - carrots, cucumbers, bean sprouts, and green onions. The bowl of noodles seemed small at first, but the noodles at the bottom are a generous portion. They have a really great "qq" bounce to them. All that being said... cancel your meetings, reschedule your dates, take a shower and brush your teeth. I ate SO much garlic and loved every moment of it. Thank goodness I bought the two shirts I ended up trying on. Last side note, I wish they had "dine in" bowls. I could've sworn I even saw a sign to tell them if you are dining in. I couldn't imagine getting a bowl of scalding hot soup in these little plastic containers, but I understand it's a mall food court. read more

I am so happy that Ox 9 Lanzhou opened near me. I can easily get some of the best hand-pulled noodles around much easier. The cashier who was taking my order was extremely nice and helpful. I ended ordering the popular braised beef noodles with medium sized hand pulled noodles with popcorn chicken and fountain drink. You can literally see the chef in the back pulling those noodles. So cool and such a skill. The beef noodle soup is really good with lots of authentic flavor and the braised beef is very tender. The hand pulled noodles has a really good bite and chew to it and really good portions. The popcorn chicken is standard and I ate it with my noodles also haha. By the way, the fountain drink is refillable so load up on your Coke so you have something to sip on while you walk around the mall after. I love how Valleyfair has been adding so many unique options to their dining lineup so that you can explore so many different foods and cultures throughout the mall. read more
Impromptu visit while at the mall on a holiday weekend and every restaurant was packed. Saw this spot and immediately went all in. Yes to labeled vegetarian options! I got the marinated cucumber salad and the chili oil dry noodles. The salad was good, looked like they had prepackaged then earlier so it wasn't 100% fresh but still crunchy and tasty. The chili oil noodles had me literally dancing in my chair. These were made to order, but the wait wasn't too long. You can taste the difference in the noodles when you're literally watching the chef hand-pulling them in the kitchen. The chili oil was on point, flavor but not overpowering spice. The bok choy was a perfect addition for a bit of brightness. Now I want to go to the sit-down eatery and try more things. read more
We went to Ox 9 on a Friday night hoping to get some Lanzhou beef noodle soup since we had recently visited Lanzhou and were craving a bowl. We ordered two number one with traditional round noodle and extra flat. It surpassed our expectations and was so good. Definitely authentic and very satisfying as the spices and the soup were so flavorful. We also got the cucumbers which were also very good and complemented the noodles well. I wish they gave more of the cucumbers, but everything was packed into takeout boxes. We will definitely be coming back, such a nice location to have it in the mall, but would probably try to go to the actual shop. Also protip: make sure to ask for some vinegar! read more
Pleasantly surprised that they have a location at the foodcourt at the mall. Menu is a bit small need to get up close to see. Not a lot of nonspicy options. #1 with small round noodles #6 spicy with thin flat noodles + an order of popcorn chicken. Not too long of a wait. Everything comes in a to go containers. The popcorn chicken was WAY spicy. I can't even eat it. We mainly ordered this for our toddler who loves fried chicken. Too bad too sad and too hot for her. She also did not like my noodles and she normally likes noodles. Too bad too sad. The soup was clean and tasty which I appreciated and was the only thing our toddler would have from what we ordered. If its just us eating we will come back but not too toddler friendly given not too many non spicy items. read more
