I love this place so so much. My family comes here over and over again because it's just that good! We always get the beef skewer ($2.99) because it's so tender and juicy, with the right amount of fat on it. We also always get the A-cai vegetable skewers ($1.99) and the chives one. I highly highly recommend. They go so well with the skewers and are seasoned so deliciously, with a tad bit of sweetness. I would also recommend their fish tofu and chicken skin. You order through a QR code and the service was pretty hands off although the waitress did come to check on us once in a while and refill the water pitcher when it was empty. We ordered lamb, beef, and pork belly skewers, Grilled eggplant, and a spicy sour noodle dish to share. The food came out pretty quickly and we were really impressed by the eggpland and noodles. The eggplant was our favorite followed by the noodles. I think some of the skewers were a little tough (maybe the beef? We ordered the cucumber and peanut dish. After we selected it on the online ordering system, I got the option to select fried or boiled peanuts. I selected fried. The server/waitress then came over and asked if we wanted fried or boiled peanuts once again. We told her fried. A few minutes later, she brought over a whole plate full of fried peanuts. We were confused because there was no cucumber like how the menu stated. We waited a few minutes to see if she would bring it out later but she never did so we asked her about it. She said fried peanuts don't come with cucumber and that only boiled peanuts do. We told her we thought the dish came with both items no matter what and that we ordered the dish mainly for the cucumber. She just laughed it off awkwardly and told us that since we already touched/ate from the dish (even though it was only a few pieces) that she wasn't able to exchange or give us a refund. This was very unprofessional considering it did not state anywhere on the menu that fried peanuts don't come with cucumber even though the item clearly states that it is a cucumber AND peanut dish. She also had a chance to inform us about this when she asked again about what type of peanuts we wanted. It's crazy that we were charged $9 for a plate of peanuts. I have been craving for some Chinese BBQ and found TLT opens on Sunday for lunch :) I avoided weekend nights because restaurants usually gets super busy, and not many bbq spots open on Sunday, so TLT was perfect choice. Environment: there were a few outdoor seating and it's a casual, fun place for bbq. Food: Lamb skewer (score 4/5): It's generally pretty good. I gave 4 because I prefer my lamb skewers have a bit more fat. The lamb skewers seasoned very well. Scallop (score 5/5): it comes with 6 scallops. Garlic scallop is my childhood favorite. They chose big scallops and garlic flavor was so tasty! I highly recommend this dish. Chinese chives (score 4/5): I saw good reviews about it so I give a try. However I wasn't a big fan. I can't really taste the chives itself with bbq flavor. Pull string fried sweet potato (score 100!!): it's so, so, so good!! I have never had fried sweet potato in US yet and it's my childhood memory they give you a little bowl of water to dip the smoking hot, fresh fried sweet potato in there. It's so fun to eat this dish and it tastes so delicious!! Service: I really had a good experience at TLT. The waiter were super nice. Came here with my husband two nights in a roll, because they opened late and we were pleased with their BBQ skewers the first night. We ordered almost every BBQ item on the menu; our bill/check was $68 for the first night and $77 for the second night. I liked how we were able to order everything non-spicy because I just can't take any spice in my food. I realized that they automatically assumed that we speak their language when we walked in, as well as when taking our orders... but not all Chinese understand Mandarin. Service was alright, we had to waive a few times to get their attention when we needed service; however, some of them did seem friendly. We did not get stomachache after eating here (we did at other Chinese BBQ places): so food-wise, I would say it's clean. We were also surprised at the qualify of food, they all seemed fresh to us, not as fatty/greasy as other places. We ordered Heineken to go along with our meals (we wanted Tsingtao but they didn't carry that). The first night, they gave us pork leg with cucumber in spicy sauce when we asked for non-spicy; they did replace it but took them a while. Also, we didn't get the chicken hearts that I ordered. I waived down the waitress who took our order and her first reaction was "really? but I marked down everything" Well... are you saying that I lied about 1 skewer of chicken hearts when our bill was worth $68? Funny... then she insisted that what we missed was the gizzards not the hearts. I was like... alright, give me my missing gizzards then. Gizzards came and it was the same gizzards I ate earlier. So, I was correct, it was the hearts that they did not deliver. The second night, everything went pretty smooth until the end. We ordered the intestines right when we placed our first orders. And, everything again... non-spicy. We finished 90% of food on our plate, including the items we added in the middle of the meal... however, still no intestines. I waived the waiter down and asked if they're still making it, the waiter's first reaction was ... "oh, they didn't bring it to you?"... Right, like I would ask if they did. So, he went to check; and 14 minutes later, he brought me the intestines full of spices. Of course, I couldn't eat it but no time to ask them to replace... so, just left that there. I'm giving them 4 stars for the food, 1 star off because still has a lot of room to grow on the service side. We will come back for more though. read more

They opened on thanksgiving night, never been to this location. Only tried the one in Newark, Cupertino location is much more comfortable. I come here super regularly since I just can't get over their beef skewers. But some extra recommendations beyond my original review: if you want squid, I highly recommend the squid tentacles over the regular squid skewer. It's very hard to get the squid off the normal squid skewer because it gets stuck to the wooden sticks. But the pieces for the tentacle are bigger and easy to get off. I also really like to order the mushroom skewers. Sometimes I like to note not to make my skewers spicy not because it's too spicy but because I prefer to just use the powder on the side. Positives. - They prefer Chinese but I got along just fine without it. You can order by writing the quantity of items desired on a menu with a marker. - The meat is higher quality than Chef Yang's. You can taste the original flavor of the chicken and beef, and they don't overcook it. - All their vegetables are delicious, just like Chef Yang's. - The wait and execution time is pretty decent for this kind of on-the-spot BBQ restaurant. If you work for Door Dash you may feel differently, which is understandable. Negatives. - During COVID they have outdoor seating but no heat lamps. Wouldn't recommend on a cold night unless you can get indoor seating. The whole point of this experience is to get fresh and hot BBQ, and the cold will counteract that. - The "ma la" soup is very so-so and quite vinegary and not enough "ma la". We ordered lamb/beef kebab, sausage, tofu skin, chicken wings, yellow croaker fish, grilled fish cake, and spicy vegetable hot pot. Honesty I do not think the taste of this restaurant. Lamb/beef kebab and chicken wings tastes average level, nothing special. All others things taste so so. Especially I do not recommend to order the spicy vegetable hot pot. It tastes nothing but a strange spicy??? Maybe I did not order the good things this restaurant have since I do see some good reviews. But for me nothing tastes really good here at least this time. The staff here are kind of busy. They only showed up at the beginning for the drink and ordering, delivering the food we ordered as well as the final time check. Also the materials maybe not clean enough since I have to visit the restaurant right after the dinner... I came here with a friend and was seated really quickly! I've never had skewers before, but this was a great experience. It is really party friendly, because they give you a QR code for the table so you can all order. You can actually see what other people ordered so that's pretty nice! The app is a littttttle wonky because sometimes it doesn't register your order and you can accidentally delete your friend's orders. The online menu was really unclear in regards to portions so I wasn't sure what to expect. I ordered $16 worth of food so I figured it would be enough for one. Unfortunately, I thought wrong. The food quality wasn't bad, it was cooked well enough and the spices were fine. It was the portions and presentation that was disappointing for me. Just overpriced for what it is, imo. I've been going to TLT Fremont for the skewers even before the Cupertino location opened. I've also eaten at the Cupertino multiple times and always have had a great experience there! Covid experience They are open from 5:30pm and only doing contact less orders, delivery and togo available. They set up a table at the door so there's no entrance to the restaurant. You definitely need to call ahead of time to place an order because there has been times that I ordered at 6pm and was told the wait would be 2hr. They are doing the best the could dispite the covid situation! Food wise - I think it's because of covid and the amount of orders that have, they sort of overcooked the meats by a bit. Usually they are softer and juicier but when I ordered the togo, it was pretty dry and a bit burnt. But before covid, the food has always been amazing! I love how heavily seasoned their skewers are but yet doesn't take out the flavor of the meat! If you can't handle salty food then you might wanna try somewhere else.. their meat has always been juicy and tender even after grilling! We saw them grilling some sort of animal outside their restaurant which we thought was a pig at first, but after a while of looking at it, we realized it was too skinny to be a pig. My guess was it was some sort of dog. :( Poor dog. Their menu shows what dishes are spicy, but it's not completely accurate because even the dishes that don't say they're spicy are in fact spicy. My favorite skewer was the chicken thigh. It was good quality and very juicy. However, It could have been more flavorful. We also got the grilled beef which was okay. The beef wasn't melt in your mouth like the chicken, but it had a pretty good grill flavor. One of the better skewers was the bacon wrapped enoki mushroom. The textures were really good because of how they did the bacon. The bacon was chewy instead of crispy, which complimented the crunchiness of the mushroom. The only complaint I have about that was that it wasn't smokey enough. The fried rice was awful. The rice was stale which is really a shame because we ordered a dish that is pretty much just rice. In China, there are street vendors called "skew bars." They had a strip of burning coals and grill whatever you wish on bamboo skews (mostly chicken wings). This is the US version in restaurant form. The thing is, pretty much everything was seasoned with the same and therefore tasted the same. Therefore, there is no need to order more than one kind of meat. They taste the same anyway.
