And YES, not only are they in the US, there is one just 10 minutes away! We have tried: Golden Original Wings - crispy, juicy and flavorful. No oily taste, always served hot and unlike other chicken chains, full-sized! Galbi Wings - fried wings tossed with a sweet, savory and smokey sauce. Meat was tender, but the sauce was a little too sweet for us. Ddeok-Bokki - traditional Korean rice roll and fish cake in a spicy sauce. One of the best tteokbokki out there! Hot and spicy with just a touch of sweetness. Rose Ddeok-Bokki - tteokbokki with a sauce that has been toned down cream for those who can take full spice. Fries - both potatoes and sweet potatoes were both fried crispy with no oily taste and good portion size. BBQ is probably the best Korean fried chicken chain, imho. Their prices are reasonable and the choice of sauces (for the chicken) are varied and numerous. But we will always go for their Golden Original. read more

I've been to 5 other bb.q locations and this was the worst and most disappointing experience. As soon as we walk in, we see a staff member brushing her hair. They stared at us like we interrupted them. Only time I saw them friendly was when one worker gave her number to a customer. Food was super disappointing. We ordered the original chicken and it was dry inside and the batter wasn't crispy at all. We asked them to fry it more but it didn't make it any better. bbq.chicken is my all time favorite Korean Fried Chicken. The Cupertino location is my frequented spot but decided to give the Sunnyvale location a try since I was nearby. I ordered the boneless chicken for pick up and came home to a surprise with the hot & spicy chicken which had little to no sauce. I was disappointed when items were opened at home to find minimal effort put in. I'm not sure about this location but I recommend everyone check their food before leaving. read more

Our group of 6 pre-ordered ~25 minutes prior to arriving on a Thursday evening and it was perfect timing. Food was still hot when we arrived. There are booths for dine-in. We asked for water cups but the cashier said they do not provide that. Alternatively, there is a fridge with canned and bottled drinks. There are also some alcohol options like beer and soju. We got 30 total of the honey garlic, soy garlic, and original wings and it was a good amount for our family because we had the kimchi fried rice and rose ddeokbokki as well. The wings are crispy and flavorful; I especially liked the honey garlic and am glad it wasn't overly sweet. Kimchi fried rice was fragrant and had chicken in it as well, although the chicken in the fried rice wasn't anything amazing. Super empty on a Monday midday, so food was super quick! Got the spicy galbi and soy honey boneless wings and so unbelievably crispy. Was a big fan of the soy honey because you can never go wrong there, but the spicy galbi is a great alternative! I ordered from here yesterday (7/31), and the chicken was completely unseasoned and bone-dry--it honestly felt like chewing on tasteless plastic. What makes this even more frustrating is that this wasn't just a single bad night. I experienced the exact same poor quality when I ordered back in February, so this seems to be a recurring issue with their kitchen standards. The Cupertino branch never has this problem and consistently serves great, flavorful food. It's really disappointing that this El Camino location is serving such substandard food. I told her they should update the sign out front, but she didn't respond. It's not about the $2 difference--it's about advertising one price and charging another. That's misleading. I was also disappointed with how my order was packaged. Everyone else's lunch combos were neatly packed in boxes with utensils, but mine was handed to me in a tteokbokki container with no utensils. I've ordered lunch combos here before, so this was unusual. I also didn't receive the pickled radish that normally comes with the combo (at least Milpitas location does) although I didn't bother asking for it. They offer a wide variety of flavors, which makes it fun to try different options. Dishes we tried: - Half and half whole chicken: We chose half original/half spicy. The spicy had a solid kick, which I enjoyed, but I preferred the original because it stayed crispier without the sauce. - Gangnam style wings: These had a black pepper garlic sauce that had an amazing flavor. Liked this more than the half and half chicken. One thing to note is that the menu says these are wings, but our order also came with drumsticks. Bbq Chicken is my go-to for good KFC and this location is my absolute favorite in the South Bay! The chicken is always super fresh and piping hot. The service is top notch and I haven't had a bad experience here, whether eating in-store or taking to-go. My usual order are the golden original, spicy original wings (used to be called bb wings, I swear), and rose ddukbokki. Bbq chicken is known to fry their chicken in olive oil, which you can taste in the batter. I recently got to try the cheeseling fries and I liked it a lot. I will have to admit, after eating their fried chicken glazed with honey garlic and fresh from the fry, I have to admit, this is better than Bon Chon. The food takes some time so expect to wait a short bit since these are freshly made. The original golden flavored chicken was very similar to your typical american chicken (like KFC) but 2x the price. If you plan on coming here with a group, consider getting the whole chicken for a better price, but you are limited two flavors which included the original golden flavored chicken and the sweet/tangy golden or the hot&spicy. On the other hand, the fries were perfectly crunchy -- cheesling powder elevated it and I would definitely recommend it. We also got pickled radish which is the classic palate cleanser. bb.q chicken is a Korean chicken chain restaurant specifically in the bay area. We stumbled upon it by accident, and it definitely was a different experience than most. First and foremost, I was really torn between three and four stars for this review, and erred on the side of generosity by giving it four stars. Whether you're dining in or getting take away, all food is ordered at the counter located when you walk right in the door. What I love about chicken that is prepared Korean style, is that when given a choice between wings versus boneless, always go with the boneless. Why? Because whole pieces of chicken thighs, etc. are deboned and what you're getting is a generous piece of chicken. I'm generally not a fan of boneless chicken, but Korean is absolutely the exception. We ordered two flavors of boneless, one was the secret sauce, flavor, and the other one was the honey garlic. The honey garlic was visually unappealing, and the taste wasn't much better. It was fairly bland, and I definitely would not order it again. The secret sauce version is a completely different story it's tangy, sweet, savory, and oh, so tasty! We had asked about the different heat flavors, and the man behind the counter, really could not give us a heat scale, so we decided to try these. The fries... We ordered the cheese fries which traditionally are french fries that are covered with this honey cheese powder that really kicks the french fries into a level of Yum. Our original order was served with some kind of burn your mouth into another galaxy sauce that we hadn't ordered. The initial taste was good, but my taste buds two seconds in did not like it. The restaurant generously replaced the fry order with a regular cheese fry neither one of us were certain why our fries were served with any sauce on it since we didn't order it that way, but if the sauce flavor on the fries was indicative of other heat levels for the chicken, I'm personally glad we ordered what we ordered. I ordered a strawberry lemonade, and it tasted like flavored water. I tried drinking it to wash down the heat from the fries, and it's definitely something I would not order again. The seating in the restaurant is a few booths, and the expectation is that you clean up after yourself. Not a big deal, but it made me wonder how frequently after the table has been used if someone's wiping them down. One of my favorite KFC spots!! From the outside, it looks really dark and tinted. Inside, they have a couple TVs with sports or K-pop music videos. Very casual dining with soju in the fridge as well. We have dined in and ordered to go. Even when we order take out, the wings are still super crispy. For two people, we usually order the 16 piece honey garlic wings and that's enough for us. We have tried other flavors but we always come back to honey garlic.. Definitely get the cheesling fries!! If you order at the restaurant, you can ask for the spicy sauce on the side because it is pretty hot. If you order online though, you can't request any changes which is the only downside. read more

I ordered the small boneless honey garlic chicken, a small boneless Caribbean spice chicken, onion rings, dumplings and kimchi fried rice. Our food arrived within 18 minutes piping hot. The kimchi fried rice was my favorite item. Very flavorful. My husband liked his Caribbean spiced chicken. The dumplings and onion rings were both very good. My honey garlic chicken was terrible. It was hard and dry. Impossible to eat and didn't have much sauce on the outside. I took it to the front and explained the situation and they offered to remake it. The remade chicken came out in 10 minutes, but the chicken was just as bad. I'm not sure if the chicken was old/freezer burned or the person cooking it cooked it too long. It was hard and dry and barely had any sauce on it. We took our leftovers home and I just threw away the chicken. I have ordered this same chicken in the past, from here, but didn't have this problem. For the price we paid for the chicken, I expected crispy Korean fried chicken, moist and juicy in the middle and completely coated with the sauce I chose. That's not what I was served. After you go in, the layout in the front is kind of awkward. If there's a line, it essentially blocks the entrance. Further, while waiting in line, there's no larger menu to look at and decide. This ultimately slows down the whole process. There is a decent amount of seating and it doesn't get overly busy. After you pay, you get a number and they'll bring the food to your table. The tables have napkin dispensers and a lined metal bucket for bones. You need to ask the person for water. At the end, we weren't sure if we bussed our own table, but on our way out we saw that they had some instructions by the trash can by the door, so we went back and bussed our table. read more

I walked in around 9:20 PM on a Thursday night, and placed an order for 8 boneless wings to-go. The order took over 30 minutes to complete, which was honestly astonishing, especially compared to many other fried chicken places like Bonchon or Wingstop or literally any other restaurant, where the wait time for an order like that is shorter. But let's give bb.q chicken the benefit of the doubt. Maybe it's fresher, higher-quality, and better tasting than other places. NO. Actually the worst chicken I've had in my life. Frozen fried chicken from my local grocery store literally tastes better for a quarter of the price. The chicken was SO unbelievably DRY that it was difficult to chew. I was surprised to see that you can schedule an order for a certain pickup depending on when you plan to eat, so that was very convenient on the restaurant's behalf. You submit your order, they text/email you a confirmation, and then let you know when the order is to be ready for pickup. What I ordered: galbi boneless, half portion (3/5) -- super savory, smoky, sticky sauce and loved the green onions but a lot of the pieces in this batch were dry/stringy golden original boneless, half portion (4/5) -- probably because I drove with the box still closed, but by the time my guy and I ate, it was not as crispy as I envisioned..still flavorful and juicy...if you're sensitive to heat like me, there is a slight kick that otherwise would go unnoticed by the average person honey garlic boneless, half portion (5/5) -- the favorite of the three, this was flavorful, juicy, and crispy The fried chicken comes with the typical cubed white radish. The other reviews about the service are accurate. I don't expect service workers to be hootin and hollerin and they don't even have to smile at me but she didn't look like she wanted to speak at all. Maybe she was just having a bad day.
