Original crispy fried chicken is 10/10. Juicy chicken, great fried batter, and perfectly seasoned. The spicy flavor was a little too spicy for my liking, but it's good as a secondary flavor. I'll probably try another flavor next time though cuz it's too spicy to enjoy a whole batch of it.
Chicken is good, especially yangyum chicken. I would eat it there if possible because it does get soggy by the time you take it home. DO NOT get the kimchi fried rice. It has no flavor but also jalapeños and bell peppers which gives it a very strange taste. The kimchi is not fermented enough to make fried rice and thus has no flavor.

I see why this is a top recommendation! 3/5 Yangnyeom Chicken was really saucy and the flavor was slightly tangy, sweet, and mildly spicy. Chicken texture was also pleasant but felt the flavors were overly saucy. Picked daikon was refreshing and crunchy. The coleslaw side also had too much sauce/liquid. I appreciated how they had gloves in case you wanted to eat with your hands. Super filling portions if you get a combo
Came here because there was no wait for a table on a Saturday night. Beer selection: 3/5 - has Soju but only 1 Korean beer, Cloud. The other options were like Shocktop and Stella. Food: 3/5 - Rose Ddukbokki: (2/5) tasted like Kraft Mac and cheese sauce. - Vons Special Chicken: (4/5) decent but nothing special. I should've tried a different flavor. Service: 4/5
Nice service, delicious food. The fried chicken came out piping hot and crispy, and I love that they offer you gloves to eat with so you don't have to get your hands dirty!

Von's Sunnyvale is hands down the best Korean fried chicken in the Bay Area. The Sunnyvale location is the best. I get the Von's special sauce boneless chicken. If I want an extra treat I get the Honey butter cheese chicken. If you want less sauce you can also get the oven baked chicken with the special Von's sauce on the side. Even the mild Von's sauce is very tasty but can also get spicy. Lately there's been more parking in front of the restaurant. The daikon radish and Cole slaw sides are included and they r very good! I've had my birthday here a few years ago and they have 15% off. It's a very fun place with nice vibe and very delicious chicken. I always take some chicken home because it is large portions.
The prices have gone up a bit but they have the next fried chicken wings in town. We stopped in for their $13.99 weekday lunch special. Everything was so so good. I ordered 5 honey butter fried chicken wings with a beer and a salad. The wings were really crispy. Love the honey butter fried chicken. I got a salad for $1. It was a generous portion with the house dressing. So so satisfied. Beer was only $3.99. Hubby got the cheddar chicken wings with a generous portion of kimchee fried rice for $1. Very satisfying lunch and we have 4 wings left for dinner with some kimchee fried rice.
The chicken was lowkey dry but the yangnyeom chicken was saucy enough to make up for it. The saucy sauce was weak (but i have a strong spice level). The green onion one has like a wasabi taste so its not my flavor. Go try it and lemme know.
Summary: Huge pieces of juicy boneless chicken coupled with friendly service warrants a repeat dine-in visit. I have to say, I prefer this place over well-known korean chain, bbq chicken. The chicken was freshly fried and crispy on the outside while piping hot and juicy on the inside. I prefer ordering boneless, so I can't say much about the bone-in options. The yangnyeom sauce was pretty standard and does pack some spice if you order at least medium heat. The soy garlic flavor was mild, which was a positive to me as it served as a nice counter to the spice of the yangnyeom and an extra crispy bite as it is not saucy. I appreciate getting a nice amount of radish and coleslaw as included sides, although the coleslaw could use less mayo.

I ordered both the crunchy and crispy chicken as well as an order of rose tteokbokki. While both orders of chicken came out piping hot, I did notice a change with the crunchy chicken batter. I did notice that the normally light, airy, and flavorful chicken recipe had changed. The crust is now much denser and lacking in seasoning. I'm a bit disappointed with the change and next time, I'll stick with the soy crispy chicken instead. The tteokbokki was also not very tasty this time. The fish cake was mushy, instead of chewy/bouncy, while the sausage was dry and overcooked. The rose sauce was nothing to write home about. I really appreciated the friendly service and value of the meal; however, today's meal definitely fell short. On the plus side, it looks like they offer a lunch special with an order of fried chicken and fries for just $13.99 from Tuesday to Friday. Pros: Fast, friendly service. Good value for the amount of food I received. The drumsticks were absolutely massive. Cons: Crunchy chicken recipe has changed and it's way too dense and lacking in seasoning.

I love the honey butter seasoning and it's usually my go-to flavor of choice. It's best eaten fresh since the seasoning melts away (kind of) when reheated.
Is a sold go to place for korean fried chicken! Their crunch is always light and always deliver on flavor either with the dry spice or garlic sauce! The japchae I think is just ok, nothing outstanding but am not too mad about it. Could have used more flavor but it's not like we're here for anything besides the chicken haha. Service is when sitting down and ordering online so don't wait for a notification, just make sure to get there at the earliest time it says it's supposed to be ready to retain as much heat and crisp as possible! read more
Had lunch at Von's Chicken in Sunnyvale and went with the lunch special. Ordered 5 wings of Yangyum spicy and 5 wings of real garlic with green onions on top, both crispy fried, along with a pink lemonade The Yangyum wings had a bold, spicy flavor that built nicely without being overwhelming. The real garlic wings were savory with a fresh punch from the green onions, and the crispiness held up well. The pink lemonade was refreshing and paired perfectly with the wings Service was quick and friendly and the restaurant had a casual, lively vibe. Not bad Came here for some KFC and it wasn't bad. The padak chicken was probably my fav. Came out hot and juicy and topped with lots of scallions with a tangy dressing (that had a hint of horseradish). The yangnyum chicken was too saucy for me and the sauce was rather thicken. We also tried their new chicken ssam which was solid. Juicy grilled chicken with lots of fresh veggies on the side. Overall, a solid experience. PSA: Apparently you get 15% off if it is your birthday but only if you make a reservation. We asked if they could offer it to us despite not making a reservation (we didn't know about it beforehand) but no dice. Oh wells, now we know. read more

I used to be OBSESSED (and maybe still am) with the Honey Butter seasoning here! So delicious. If you love a sweet and savory combination, this is my go-to. Definitely an acquired taste though. Get this on the wings, boneless, or the fries! :) You can never go wrong with the Soy Garlic as well. Crispy and packed with flavor. Not too salty either! I love to pair this with the Rosé Dukbokki too. The best creamy sauce with rice cakes! A little pricey, but it definitely gets you full. FYI: Sorry vegeterians! They're still my favorite Korean fried chicken spot, but they definitely changed ownership or something. I think their crispy fried chicken is best and I always ask for a side of their spicy sauce. Always hits the spot. read more
First time trying this location, 2nd time trying Vons. I'm a soy-garlic type of a girl but this time decided to put my faith into trying their yangnyeom and honey butter powder. If you just want plain ol' fried chicken, I wouldn't necessarily recommend Vons. The chicken is a little dry compared to Jollibee. The yangnyeom is standard to me, no amazing standouts but definitely makes KFC, KFC. The honey butter was interesting but I grew to like it, it was kind of a sweeter profile to the fried chicken, but since it's a powder- it didn't help that the chicken wasn't the juiciest. HOWEVER, with leftovers and a handy-dandy air fryer, the honey butter melted and developed a beautiful crust onto the chicken. The cheese balls weren't like mozzarella sticks type of cheese, it was chewy and paired with ketchup. I liked having a difference in textures while eating, but not needed. Chicken comes with pickled radish which I always love and a super mayo-y sweet coleslaw to help refresh the palate. Wished there was more coleslaw though! Service was great, I mean we were the only ones in there at 8pm but they provide gloves and water for you. No awkward waiting around for a server. I decided to go in and try their chicken. The young man asked me to look at the menu, then he would punch in my order. I ordered: 1 Half Order of Crispy Drums, Medium Heat, 5 pcs. (Price $17.99 + Tax= $19.63) My order took about 10-mins to prepare. There were 4-5 people in the dining room. The menu said 5 pieces, but I received 6 meaty drumsticks. No complaints there. Wow, the fried chicken must of been fresh out of the oil with no cooling time on a rack. Temperature wise, it was TOO HOT to pickup and eat. That chicken was lightly crispy, a nice soy garlicky taste, and had a slightly numbing medium spice level. Just right for me. I like the fried chicken, but would like to try the oven roast next time. read more
Legit Korean fried chicken place! I always saw this place pop up on my food delivery apps but never ordered because the name didn't lend itself to being Korean fried chicken. But we decided to come here after searching on Yelp and I'm so glad we did. The DDukbokki was alright, not spectacular but if you're craving, it'll hit the spot. The star of the show is the crispy fried chicken. It has a garlic soy glaze that is amazing. When you order, the wings come with drums! If you order drums they are extra large and purely just drums. I love wings so I got yangyum wings. It was alright, the taste profile is just not my cup of tea. The next time we come back I'll try some other flavors. Overall, wonderfully juicy flavorful wings and they give you gloves so your hands don't get dirty as well! read more

If I'm ever craving Korean Fried Chicken this is my go to. I've tried multiple korean fried chicken places in the area and they're good, but no place beats the crispy fry on vons chicken. The pieces are always huge, the glaze is light so the chicken isn't soggy, and the fry is always gorgeoussssss!!! I always get spicy, but I think it can definitely be pretty spicy for those that don't love the heat. The mild is still just as good and usually I order a full crispy fried chicken, half hot and half mild. Always a crowd pleaser! It comes with the cubed pickled radish which is always fresh and compliments the chicken so well! Haven't eaten in the restaurant for awhile, but ordering online is easy and it's always pretty fast pick up time! read more

Real Garlic is the flavor we chose. After work, we went to Vons Chicken for dinner. The staff were friendly--and plus, they were handsome . I'm going to try the other flavors of chicken next time. Also the ambiance is cool and the restroom is clean. read more

Let me start off that the service at this location was amazing! Both of the people that helped us the young lady behind the register and the other man in charge that day were soo soo attentive. And really made it such a nice meal. We decided to dine in since we live nearby and it was emptyyy which we loved lol. We got the crispy hot chicken which was, delicious, not too hot and as in the name super crispy. The kimchi fried rice was okay nothing crazy, would always love more cabbage but it was enjoyable. And not pictured but we also decided to try the baked Von special wings, not a fan at all it tasted like a mixture of bbq & ketchup, do not recommend. Everything else was delightful! read more
I probably come here every two months and every time, still as a good as the last. I usually get half crispy padak and half yangnyeom (medium) with a side of fries. Seriously so good but I keep forgetting medium is pretty spicy and need to just get mild next time but the flavor is so so good! Staff is always nice and the restaurant is always clean. Always recommend this place for someone that loves huge korean fried chicken! read more
Unfortunately not a good experience for me. We ordered take out tonight and got the honey butter chicken (delicious btw) and garlic chicken (just ok in flavor). Mid-meal, I noticed that there is a pool of blood on my chicken. That ruined my appetite :/ I hope I don't get sick :/ read more
Came for dinner on a tues night, thankfully not busy so we were able to get seats right away & order. There's a short wait for food but that means they make to order. Ordered honey butter chicken, yangyum and ssalm... our favs! This time I thought we'd try the med hot yangyum instead of mild... if you can't quite tolerate spicy, this is a challenge haha but it's good & can only eat one. Can't imagine ordering/eating the spicy! They have a special going on for ordering drums which is cool bc we were able to order full sizes and have lots of leftover for next meal. Good chill place, people dine & chat without being rushed, I saw someone just munching while on their laptop. read more

Not sure if its dairy free. I think it has to do with the batter that they mix and use. I don't think their menu indicate indicates it.
What is the difference between crispy and crunch fried chicken?
Crunchy fried chicken is a different batter, think more like bonchon. Crispy is like KFC's extra crispy recipe, but even more crispy crunchy and you get delicious garlic/soy vons sauce.
