First off - do love this location as it is a food stall with lots of other good options and is located next to a Ranch 99. Here are the (unfortunate) changes: They changed the greens from assorted salad greens with vinaigrette to broccoli that is WAY too salty. They used to have picked carrots with the dish and now removed them. The chicken this time was drier than usual and we always get dark meat with skin which is typically the juicier one! Chicken rice flavor also wasn't spread throughout and had some plain white rice. The chicken soup has changed for the better though. My sister said this is the best Hainan chicken around this area so we stopped by for dinner. It is located inside the food court, all the way in the back. You can see that it's a popular place. You can return the plates and utensils back to the food stall. There is a grey tray at the bottom where you can return it. It's an alternative to Rooster and Rice which is basically the Thai style hainan chicken rice. What I like about Chicken Meets Rice is that it has more than one style of chicken in that it also has fried chicken but then tbh the whole point of these kind of food is the hainan chicken so I'd recommend the steamed chicken with chicken rice instead of the other stuff on the menu. Chicken is tender and flavorful and I prefer this style of hainan chicken over the Cantonese style. This place also has other sauces (I love the spicy Singaporean sauce but it has a kick) in addition to the regular sauce. You order through the kiosk and pick up at the other end of the counter. Not sure if anyone clean up regularly. They have a couple kiosks in front of the restaurant for ordering. The Chicken Rice is ok. I thought it used to be better when we went to other location before. The chicken is tender, however, the chicken rice lacks chicken flavor. The chicken flavor is weak in the rice. It comes with a side salad, chicken broth and two sauces. For the chicken broth, the ginger flavor is too strong and it overpowers the chicken flavor. When you choose the sauce in the kiosk, it only shows the sauce names without any details of what's in it and how spicy each sauce is. It would have been nice if they could incorporate sauce ingredients and spice level in the kiosk menu, especially for people with allergies. The sauce we got was too spicy and the teriyaki sauce is too thick for Hainan Chicken. The traditional Hainan Chicken rice comes with a thinner seasoned soy sauce that we don't see it in the sauce list. read more

My friend and I took a chance and drove to Chicken Meets Rice at the Ranch 99 food hall and luckily they were open. I have gone to CMR many times but the last time, I was disappointed because they changed the crispy chicken to some small pieces similar to popcorn chicken and it was not the same.
