    K Street Beef Tacos
    Gene D.

Decent Korean establishment in the San Pedro Square Market. The tacos tasted fine, nothing outstanding or memorable. When the market is busy, the wait to get your food can be rather lengthy. Do take that into account if you are planning to head over to SAP for a concert or sporting event.

Wanted to like this place, but nah. Tacos ain't it. Also no message after placing order for confirmation was disturbing, but they did provide an update when asked and a ready text at the end.

Kimchi Dumplings and Pikachu Fried Chicken
    Yeebing T.

The bustling atmosphere of San Pedro Market is a place I often go to, which means that I often pass by Master Shin while they have their "Prepping right now, order later" sign on their kiosk. When I noticed for the first time that the sign was gone and the kiosk was open, I thought it'd be a good chance to try it. I decided to get the kimchi dumplings, as well as the Pikachu Fried Chicken with garlic parmesan sauce. The service was decent (they let me put the sauce on the side which was nice), though one thing that was a little questionable was the fact that the kimchi dumplings were partially stuck to the packaging and took a small bit of paper with it as we took it. The dumplings also had a street food sort of texture, which was alright considering the flavor of them was still good but maybe not for the price that I was getting all of the food for. As for the chicken, the garlic parmesan sauce was relatively overwhelming on chicken that was otherwise relatively bland, but decently textured. Makes for a decent lunch, but unfortunately did not live up to the hype that it had in my head considering how many times I've encountered it when it looked closed. I'm unsure if I would come back again, but I do hope their other food options are better.

    Beef Bulgogi Plate

I ordered a beef bulgogi plate because I was looking for something fast. When I went to Square Market, Master Shin didn't have a wait but while waiting for my food more people came to order via KIOSK. First initial look, my food didn't look great, pretty standard and basic. The Japchae was pretty bland, even in color. I was basically eating glass noodles with some vegetables. The coleslaw tasted normal, nothing special about it. The meal came with a side of kimchi and honestly it was not good for me. I had to bring out my own kimchi to eat with the meal. It had a strong bitterness to the cabbage that you don't usually taste in kimchi. Almost a bad bitterness. Then the main course was the beef bulgogi. It looked dry but when I ate it I tasted a lot more flavor so I could tell it was marinated. For $20, I was not happy and satisfied with this meal.

If you are in the mood for Korean food stop by Master Shin for some great options. Street food and main dishes all served in one place. Fast service, even on the weekend. Located inside San Pedro Square Market with a variety of seating options and a parking garage across the street. Chill vibes in the market and many drinks available within as well. I enjoyed the Jjajangmyeon, with zucchini and onions and small pieces of beef. All married well and the noodles were perfect. The kimchi fried rice in my opinion needed more kimchi, but I love Kimchi and spice. The staff awere friendly and respectful. Stop by for the Korean flavor experience.

Located in San Pedro Square Market. This small spot offers take out. There is no one up front to place an order. They only have a kiosk machine. Food here took about 10 - 15 mins. I ordered the beef bulgogi. This dish was pretty tasty and delicious.

    The #30 Curry ($20)

[Food] - The #30 Curry ($20): For the price I felt like the portion was small. Curry was decent, rice was not as fluffy as I'd usually prefer. Chicken was pretty good, crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. Appreciated that they included some pickled radish. [Service] - Friendly and fast [Ambiance] - Located in San Pedro Square Market [Overall] - The dish I ordered was decent but unfortunately I can't say the price is justified as I've had better elsewhere and not as pricey.

Pikachu fried chicken and tofu bibimbap

New spot in the market so I decided to check it out. Went to watch the football game on tv but got hungry so made my way here. Food: the pikachu fried chicken could use more of a savory flavor. The pikachu chicken also comes with pickled radish too. It had mostly the sweet flavor from the sauce that it was glazed with. It actually tastes better if you eat more for more flavor. The pikachu fried chicken is also very sticky and sticks to your teeth. The bibimbap was good. The rice and tofu didn't seem as fresh though. I liked all the vegetables that the bibimbap had though and the sauce that makes bibimbap, bibimbap. Ambiance: San Pedro square market has lots of food and drink options, this is just one of them. You order on the kiosk and wait for your order. You can choose Togo or here. I probably wouldn't order the pikachu fried chicken again or tofu but may try spicy pork next time!

Bulgogi tacos Black Bean Noodles Curry PikChicken
    Dominic N.

I loved: Bulgogi tacos I liked: Black Bean Noodles I would avoid: Curry PikChicken They nailed the crisp on the Bulgogi taco in both meat and shell. Absolutely hit the spot. It might be the best #goodeats in the entire food court. Alternatively, I would avoid the Curry entirely. It's much too watery and has no flavor. The chicken and black bean noodles are fine, good but not standouts. Everything is still pretty expensive here so next time I'd just double up on the tacos You just order from an iPad so the only time you interface with anyone is when they bring you the food. It does take a while for the food to come though.

LA kalbi plate - rice was old (hard and crunchy on top from being in the cooker too long, and soggy on the bottom).
    Shinny L.

Ambiance: It's conveniently located at the San Pedro Market, in the back building next to the mochi donut/hot dog place (first shop to the right of the bathrooms when walking in from the shared open eating area). Food: Overall the kalbi meat itself was well marinated and flavorful. I got 8 bones worth of Kalbi in all. I did get one piece of Kalbi that was entirely fat, which was not pleasant for me (but if anyone likes the fat, that might have worked out for them). The rest of the meat was also generously marbeled with fat (I do prefer lean pieces, but it is short rib, after all). However the rice was over cooked and had been sitting in the rice cooker too long, so the rice on the top was hard and crusty and the rice on the bottom of my container was soft and soggy. I'm pretty sure Koreans hold a lot of pride in their abilities to cook rice, so that was surprising to say the least. Also it's white rice, not purple rice (Which of course is fine). The ban chan provided was raw cabbage and carrots with some dressing drizzled on top, jap chae noodles, and a small 1-2oz container of kimchee. The raw veggies were unremarkable, though it was nice to have veggies with the meal. The jap chae was a bit on the dry side and they used very thin noodles (maybe vermicelli and not yam noodles). So I guess what you should expect is meat flavor to be good, but quality of meat to be slightly above fast food/mall food level of cuisine, everything else about mall food level, but definitely not restaurant quality food. Service: So I ordered this via doordash and accidentally ordered it as a pickup when I wanted it delivered to my office. When I realized my mistake, it was too late (made sense that the tip offered was $2.50, which I upped to $3.50 and not the regular amount automatically offered). I rushed over to pick up my order after realizing this and just decided to eat there instead of coming back to the office. I usually request no utensils with delivery because I have them on hand; however, since I accidentally ordered this as a pickup and wanted to eat there, I needed utensils. There really weren't many people (none) waiting in line when I got there (maybe explains the crusty old rice) and yet there was literally no one at the front (the two people working were in the back preparing food). They heard me coughing (thank you pregnancy congestion and spare the air days) so came and handed me my bag. When I noticed I didn't have utensils, I went back to ask for them and was rudely told that "I didn't order it with utensils" which I clearly knew. I told the young person working there that it was because I accidentally ordered it as a pickup so now I needed utensils, and he said nothing, just handed me my utensils. So, I was in the "wrong" by not being clear about the utensils when I accidentally ordered it as a pickup, but honestly the customer service could have been better - the guy's attitude really rubbed me the wrong way. With the quality of the food and the service, even though there are literally no other korean food options (except the hot dogs in the next stall over) in downtown San Jose, I'm not going to bother giving this place another try. There's too many other options at San Pedro Square that provides minimally better service. If I must have Korean (sometimes I really do), I'd much rather head to SJ Omogari in Japantown for the service, and consistency of food quality. I guess this is why places like Omogari are always packed.

I thought the bibimbap tasted good. Not sure about the ratio of meat vs veggies vs rice....of course I'd prefer extra meat and veggies. But this is a nice addition to the San Pedro Sq line up of food stalls.

The reason why I came over here fairly recently was because I visited cousins and cousin in law that live near to give them Valkyries shirts and other shirts they'll send to the Philippines in over a month, and since they plan to be sending clothes over while telling me about the place, I gave them my Kate Martin and Kaitlyn Chen jerseys for the trouble as I needed to make room for my Veronica Burton jersey, which I wore when I met up with them, and my upcoming violet Gabby Williams one. (Go Valks!) The noteworthy parts the place has are the real good amount of banchan dishes, bibimbap and the short rib, the spicy one in particular. While I probably will not visit the place again anytime soon, at least I can keep this place in mind if I want Korean food without driving to Santa Clara. There's plenty of parking behind the spot. As you come in, the place looks simple, but it works. You have the adorable ajumma/ajumni to take your order. The stuff I ordered. I had water, banana milk and kimchi fried rice. Since I was the only one that had more than 1 drink, I told my cousins and cousin in law the banana milk, and they did bring up how on occasion, you see the drink in K-dramas. Of course, we laughed on how my parents never got into K-dramas and while I'm at it, Filipino dramas. Oh well. Oh, there's no doubt the food is good, and the place is too legit (to quit) as I did hear Korean from a different table. As I typed up, there are plenty of banchan dishes. Not Los Angeles amount of banchan dishes, but there are plenty of banchan dishes never the less. The kimchi fried rice dish may be simple, but it does give off that homey feel. Can't forget how Big actually is affordable, the big reason why my cousins and cousin in law like the place so much. The reason why the place doesn't get a perfect score. The place would have received a perfect score if, the major matter I remember here, the place has mul naengmyun (my favorite Korean dish). Originally, I wanted Japanese ramen before my cousins mentioned this place, and I was ready to pivot to having mul naengmyun, but I was told that the place doesn't carry the noodle dish. (Being a very good and logical dish to eat for at the very least half of the year in a city like here San Jose is the reason why of all of the Korean dishes, I like mul naengmyun the most.) There probably is one or two minor flaws I already forgot, but the lack of mul naengmyun is the dead on reason why I don't give the place a perfect score. On a side note, it's nice that I told the group what banana milk and mul naengmyun are, and by doing so, they learn something new regarding eating at Korean spots just in case. BigSpoon is a good spot. While it may not be as iconic as the places in Santa Clara, it is a good spot never the less. It does a good job at being a Korean spot for an area that is more so known for Mexican food. If you live on the east side, head on over here because the place should get your attention. +/BigSpoon is brilliant and spiffy because it has a terrific combination of good simple food, affordability and wonderful service. -/If only the place also has mul naengmyun.

I'm glad I did and was definitely delighted by the experience. Hot Stone Bibimbap 5/5: There was a review on Yelp saying that there was no crunchy rice at the bottom and that it was bland. Wait a few minutes and let the rice cook more because the stone bowl is still hot. lift up the bottom until you see crunchy bits and then you could start mixing. Plenty of tofu and a generous amount of beef. I also loved all the sides they included along with a bowl of rice. Every side dish was delicious, but the kimchi especially stood out. They only offered two types of banchan (not even kimchi), and they were out of all dishes that included meat or beef. It was surprising for a Korean restaurant to not have Korean BBQ or short ribs available. My seafood tofu soup barely had any seafood, and I had to point out to the waiter that there was no shrimp at all. He later returned with a cheap frozen seafood mix and said they use a seafood mix, which was disappointing considering the higher quality seafood they used to serve (including head-on shrimp). They also did not serve the usual purple rice this time -- instead we were given dry white rice that seemed reheated. There was only one server handling all the tables and cleaning, so service was slow. It's disappointing because the quality used to be much better. The seafood pancake had a nice light crisp, and was full of seafood and green onion, while the meat jun game on a bed of fresh cabbage and was full of tender, sweet and flavorful bulgolgi. We really enjoyed both with the banchan! Danbi has some great offerings, and I'll definitely try to come again to try some of the entrees and other things when I'm in the area and looking for a full meal!

This restaurant was filling up but it really only seemed like 3 or so employees, one waiting tables, one by the counter, and another in the kitchen. Looks like a family run business that could probably use some more hands! We ordered Yookdaejang: Good! I have no complaints about this one. Galbitang: Didn't try any but my wife said it was kind of bland. We went to Kunjip the week before and didn't get to order this, so we were really craving it. It's very good at Kunjip. I was debating just doing a seafood pancake instead. I saw a bunch of other tables have it and it looked thick and crispy. For both soups, it was too much for us so we took them both home and ate it for dinner the following day. Added more noodles to it too, so value wise it kinda worked out. The banchan was good. They ran out of fish cake but I loved the kimchi! Pretty solid for good korean food with no wait - the only wait really was the lack of employees, but sitting and ordering was quick enough.
