tasty pot is a go-to when im craving soup or hot pot and i dont want to think too much about my toppings. theyre taiwanese-style hot pot with pre-set items that come already boiling in the soup. theres a fire underneath to keep your soup warm while you eat, but sometimes it'll get too hot and ill use the metal plate to extinguish it. if you get low on broth, you can also request them to refill the soup with standard broth for free. ive tried a majority of their hot pots and theyre all really good! my favorite is probably the beef or lamb though. their stinky tofu and popcorn chicken are not bad either. the popcorn chicken is crispy and juicy, though it could be crispier for me (i like it super crunchy). this is their innovation branch so they also offer items you cant find at other branches, like the mustard green fish soups. this location has a large parking lot with lots of other asian food shops and every time ive gone the service has been pretty quick. it's fairly big inside as well so they can accomodate a lot of people read more

It was a busy Friday night and we were able to walk in and get a table for 2. First time dining at Tasty Pot. The menu looked interesting and the decor had good ambiance. They brought us water as son as we sat down. The online menu was pretty easy to use. I made a mistake with my husband's order and they graciously redid his meal. Let me lead with the best part, which was the seating and service. The 3 gentleman waiting tables and delivering orders were on point with their hospitality and within what is in their control. The ambiance was great too and the setting was quite welcoming and home feeling. Now to get to the food. We were very disappointed with it on the whole outside of the white fish, clams, and octopus. We ordered a calamari appetizer which was fully overcooked, recooked, or frozen without being thawed appropriately. The batter was overwhelming with seasoning that almost tried to mask the deep chewiness of the squid itself. We then hoped for more when ordering the lobster and sea food pot (ordered a second lobster alone too). The hot pot came with some pre-cooked items and then a mix of uncooked items. The lobster was overcooked and chewy and the shrimp were overcooked, while the rest was all right. I was anticipating though with the name that the lobster and shrimp would have been the highlight of the dish, and they were not. Wow I had a wonderful dinner experience yesterday here at Tasty Pot Milpitas. I got their Japanese Miso Hot Pot and it was good, 4.5 stars. Funny enough, our table all got the same entree. Flavor was not too light nor overwhelming. If you want to add more spice for flavor, they have it on the side of each table. Portions were good too. I was so full. Also got their coconut lava balls which comes in 5 pieces per order, delicious, 5/5 stars. Service was spectacular from start to finish from all of their staff. All servers and wait staff have been amazing, but shout-out to Kai, who always delivers the BEST customer service! From the second you walk in, he greets you with a genuine smile that instantly makes you feel welcome. Kai is attentive, accommodating, patient, and always seems one step ahead of what guests need. You can tell he cares about making sure everyone has a great experience. To order food, there is a self-service menu system where you use your own smartphone by scanning a QR code at your table, adding the menu items you want, and submitting the order yourself. During our latest visit, I accidentally ordered the wrong item (100% my mistake). I was expecting to just deal with it, but Kai immediately stepped in and fixed everything without hesitation. He showed kindness and sincerity to make things right for us, and it wasn't a big deal. That level of hospitality is rare and is one of the reasons why we always come back! Walked in a little after 6:30pm on a Friday night and were immediately seated. Scanned the QR code at the table to order, and waters were brought out as we perused the menu I've gotten their beef soup twice prior, but I was looking at their new items and noticed a Tomato Fillet Hot Soup. They had varying new fillet hot soups, and it looked like the only difference was the type of soup they used (all the ingredients were the same). Opted to try the tomato one in mild w/ noodles. Didn't have to wait too long before the food started coming out! Unless you have dietary restrictions, I don't think you could go wrong with any of their choices. My vegetarian friends noted that there weren't many options for them (it looked like the Healthy Veggie Hot Soup was the only suitable option, but there lacked an option to add more protein - the consensus was that MalaTown had many more vegetarian options). Definitely enjoyed the Tomato Fillet Hot Soup! I did find two small bones in my fish, each about an inch long. It didn't seem like anyone else in my group who ordered the fillet soup had bones, but just be careful when you're eating the fish! Very comforting and casual meal! My go to order is a beef soup. I think it's great that you can also switch the type of broth in case you like the toppings from one soup over the other. The drinks came out fast along with the hotpot. Service was great there. However, we go on to the food. The broth was pretty flavorless and had no depth of flavor. The sauce was decent but no where near boiling point's sauce flavor. The meat didn't feel sliced and fresh as it broke up in the broth in tiny pieces, indicating that it was frozen again after being thawed or just not good quality. Couldn't get broth refill because since the broth didn't have much flavor, didn't want to reduce it even more. Overall, would not be coming back due to food quality and taste but it was nice to revisit an old classic Taiwanese hotpot in the bay. read more
