This was OK to me, most definitely edible. I just had much better... ~ 09. Taiwanese Supreme Spicy Hot Soup - 4.5/5 This was a generous amount of food. My buddy commented "this is for one person?!" lol. Great flavor and a healthy amount of ingredients. I would most definitely get this again. The staff came by and added more soup upon request as well... ~ Beef Sizzling Plate (w/ Udon) - 4.5/5 The Sizzling Plate is a new item. We didn't see it on the physical menu, it was only available through the QR ordering system. We opted to get Udon noodles instead of Rice. The Sizzling Plate was just about perfect. Oh my, I can't believe I haven't reviewed this tasty pot yet. I guess it's because I'm basically here every week for work lunch. This is the second flagship restaurant. The original one is on story Road and pretty much offers the same menu as that place. My personal recommendations would be number one beef. You can't go wrong with that one. It's sort of has a saté soup. Then my second recommendation would be their cheesy milk pot. It's sort of like an Asian chowder if you will. And if you can't really choose, then you can always either get their Thai seafood pot or their Japanese miso. Please note that they serve you free, black or green tea during lunch hours. They also serve a variety of milk teas, which are also so good. My favorite one personally is their Hokkaido milk. Their service is pretty good and pricing is fair. read more

Tasty Pot is usually my "go to" hotpot place when I'm up in Milpitas for work. This last time however, the food just didn't hit. I got the Taiwanese pot; which is the one that I normally get. It was under spiced and did not taste as good as it normally tasted. Service was a bit slow the last visit. It's usually on point. Really good. The place is kept very clean. Tasty Pot is a convenient Chinese hotpot experience that leans more into the fast and budget-oriented scene and does it well enough to satisfy cravings of most sorts. I'd liken it to the most "fast-food" iteration of hotpot I've had. Portion sizes are pretty large and QR code ordering combined with pre-prep makes for a pretty fast and smooth experience. Just don't expect super high quality stuff either. Interior is clean and well prepped in terms of condiments, but definitely a bit sparse on service interactions since as soon as we got our stuff we were pretty much left alone. Hotpot combos have a ton of miscellaneous things thrown into the mix so it was a bit tricky for food allergies. Pots are pretty much filled to the brim with goodies though, so if you're looking for sustenance it's not a shabby way of getting fed. That said it wasn't great hotpot either; broth tasted rather thin/bland even for things like curry and primary meats weren't all that fresh. Veggie mixes were good, but very much dominated by cabbage. As a regular eating spot for something simple, fast, and cheap this fits the bill quite well. Tasty Pot exceeded our expectations with both exceptional service and outstanding food. From start to finish, our dining experience was delightful. We ordered the garlic butter steak and rice sizzling plate, and it was simply amazing. The dish was incredibly garlicky, featuring perfect bits of crispy rice, thinly sliced steak, and a hint of corn and edamame. Every bite was a burst of flavor. Our drinks, iced tea and bubble tea, were refreshing and complemented the meal perfectly. The miso hot pot was absolutely perfect, and my son couldn't get enough of the udon noodles. However, the true star for me was the fish - flaky, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. The crispy chicken was another highlight, serving as the perfect appetizer. The takoyaki was creamy and topped with a deliciously sweet sauce, making it a delightful treat. To end our meal, we indulged in some macaroon ice cream sandwiches, which were heavenly. The place has a descent facade, so not easy to miss. Maybe because it's a new spot, there is no smell inside. I hate those herbal soup smell from other hot pot places, so this one is pleasant. Service is good. We were greeted warmly, broth was refilled a couple times, questions were answered and we got what we needed during the meal. We tried the popcorn chicken from Snack, it was good; chunky meat, good flavor and not overly fried or dry. The new item is beef sizzling plate, it's good with lots of meat once it's mixed and cooked. Their pots seem to be on the light side of flavor on the broth. We tried Japanese Miso and the Herbal soup. Both pots came out with very little fragrance, not smelly at all. I personally find the broth a bit too light in flavor, but the good side is that it doesn't smell either. The winter melon lemon drink was good. The Half and Half Milk Tea was horribly diluted as they made it with ice but I ordered 0 sugar and no ice. The boba was good, soft and chewy, some people may find it too soft. The best part is the food which is... a great thing (lol). The Pots come in the individual stands with the burner within. It's visually pleasant and a fun experience. For the price, the Pot servings are filling and worth it. I had the kimchi pot which had decent spice but very tolerable. There was a good variation of fixings in the broth, including a heaping of meat. Each table has three sauces for you to combine to make your custom dipping sauce. Sizzling beef rice iron platter: it's an average at best for this dish, which is probably not the restaurant's specialty anyways. They have two sauce selections: mushroom or black pepper; I selected black pepper sauce. Luv the richness of pepper but it's extremely sweet... not liking that combo. Maybe if I selected a better sauce (mushroom?), this can be a better. Now, to what they do best... hot soup (hot pot). Tasty Pot was all I could have dreamed for. Disclaimer: I don't live in the Bay Area so places like these are hard to come by. I ordered the fermented tofu (which IS the stinky tofu; totally unexpected as it doesn't smell at all on the outside but stinky upon first bite), side of rice and the seafood pot. The fish was tender and not mushy which was a huge plus, soup was boiling hot and all the extras were flavorful. I love a good soup and rice combo and this definitely hit the spot. I was so full by the end but couldn't stop eating because it was so tasty. The free iced green tea was also so delicious that I was sad that I couldn't even finish it at the end of my meal. As a vegetarian I usually don't get much variety in hotpots but this place was good. It was nice to see that Tasty Pot has options for vegetarian food. We got a Vegetarian hotpot, Fermented Tofu, Rose Milk green tea and Hokkaido Milk Tea. Fermented Tofu was interesting, but I guess it's more of an acquired taste maybe... My husband liked it though. Both the teas were good. We got one with the Surprise gift, which I thought was cute. The hotpot itself tasted really delish. We went with the original spice level and it was perfect for us. The waiter (manager?) was quick to take our tea drink order and brought it quickly. Food came quickly after ordering. The portions are a bit large so you get bang for your buck. 1. beef hotpot has a good variety and very fulfilling. 2. sizzling plate with udon & beef is flavorful. My coworkers and I were craving hot pot, so we stopped by Tasty Pot. Boy, this place was popping during lunch hour. However, we were the second in line, so we only waited about 15 minutes. We were given a free cup of sweet tea (green or black) upon entering. You scan a QR code to make your order online, but it just wouldn't work on my phone so I had to order on my coworkers phone. Please allow an option of ordering without a QR code. What's good about ordering is you can customize your order to omit ingredients you dislike or have allergies to. I omitted seafood from my beef hot pot. I am not really sure why the hot pot taste was not to my liking - some of the ingredients and the broth did not seem like they blended well together, like the large chunks of taro. At least now I know what to omit when I customize it in the future, and maybe I should order a different broth. I was also still hungry after. The service was very good - the employees were kind and kept checking in. I wanted to take my free tea to go and they sealed my drink and provided me a straw. I love that they offer complimentary green/black tea for lunch time, so refreshing! Also BONUS if you check in on yelp, they also offer a free green milk tea! Japanese Miso: 5/5 For about $3 more you get a larger pot which i believe is worth it as you can share this between 2 people. We came here for dinner. Service was good-- nice, quick and easy. Food: portions were huge. Through the Yelp Elite event, we were provided 2 drinks, 1 app, 1 sizzling plate and 1 hot pot. We ordered add ons and an extra appetizer. The amount of food that came for 2 was enough to feed my family of 5, and we had leftovers. Big portions! Can definitely share!! read more
