If you're looking for a cheap restaurant with really big portions (even enough to feed two people at a time), look no further than Big Potato Restaurant in Milpitas. I remember this place used to be Chef Chengdu, but recently closed down and rebranded to become Super Potato. Here's my take and my experience on this place, as a first timer thus far: - The food was honestly out of this world, and when I say the portions are BIG - they were actually enough to cover the container (and even more). That's how much they have. I got the beef tripe with Chinese broccoli and rice, and while I had wished they included more Chinese broccoli, the sauce of the beef tripe was SO pungent and aromatic that I was able to sauce up my rice and enhance the flavor of my plain white rice. - The hospitality of this place was quite well - the waitresses are very attentive to each detail. Our requests were met conveniently without any hesitation. Ambience was also pretty well maintained. I'm definitely gonna come back and have more!! A budget friendly place forsure :)
Took my friends here so they can enjoy Chinese version of rice plates. They seemed to really enjoy it. As usual, service here is good and typical of Chinese restaurants. My friends thought the ambiance is "nice" for what I described to them as hole in the wall. Everything from my previous review stands. This time I ordered a couple new dishes. I thought the braised pork belly is pretty good. The tomato rib soup combo comes with tornado potato and a drink. My elderly Caucasian friend loved the passion fruit/mango drink of 50% sugar. 5 adults ordered just 4 entrees and we were all full. That's great value!
Came on a Saturday right after they opened, we were seated right away and it slowly started filling up more around noon. We got the classic potato noodles and beef skewers to share. The pot for the noodles didn't look very big but it actually ended up being quite filling and was enough for the two of us. I liked the texture of the noodles, very qq, and the flavor was like a malatang base. There was also a decent amount of other ingredients with the noodles as well. Overall, a good place for a fast, more casual meal!
We went in the early afternoon, and it wasn't too busy. The food came out really quickly after we ordered. They were running a promotion, so abalone was included as a topping, which was a nice bonus. We also ordered a combo set with a main dish, a snack, and a drink for around $25, which felt like a great deal! Classic Potato Noodles (Mild Spicy): This dish was packed with ingredients and had a nice spicy kick. It's served hot, so it's perfect for cold days. You can choose regular noodles, potato noodles, or half and half--I went with both. The potato noodles were so soft that they could be cut with chopsticks. Personally, I preferred the regular noodles since they tasted more like ramen. I think the dry noodle version might be better if you want to enjoy the chewy texture of the potato noodles, so I'd like to try that next time. Curry Chicken Cutlet Omelette Rice: The portion was big enough to share. The chicken cutlet was thin but stacked in two layers. I felt like there wasn't quite enough curry sauce compared to the amount of rice and cutlet. The curry wasn't spicy, so I personally would've liked it a bit hotter. Snacks: The Super Potatoes tasted more sweet than spicy. The Shredded Kelp with Garlic Paste was really flavorful with a strong garlic taste--I liked it a lot!

The food is good and the potato noodles had a great and easy to consume texture, I tried one with half potato half regular noodles as well - would recommend full potato instead of half/half! It was a unique experience since I had never had potato noodles before. Good portion sizes per person.

I initially wanted to try this spot after seeing their bouncy potato noodles featured on social media. The interior was bright, clean, and modern, and each table had a convenient QR code for browsing the menu. I ordered: -the Classic Potato Noodles (mild spicy): very flavorful and generously packed with ingredients. Since it was around Lunar New Year, they were running a promotion that included a free abalone with each noodle soup order, which was a nice touch. The abalone itself was very tender and well-prepared. My only minor critique was that the potato noodles were slightly overcooked. They leaned more soft than the chewy, bouncy texture I was expecting. Service was quick and friendly overall, and our food arrived within about 10-15 minutes. We did have to flag down the servers a couple of times, but they were helpful once we got their attention. Overall, Super Potato delivers flavorful dishes, a clean and modern dining environment, and a solid experience, with just a small opportunity to improve noodle texture and attentiveness - 4.5/5
Really good! The potato noodles have a much bouncier chew. I think there's not many of it all any places in the South Bay that are doing potato noodles. I only know one spot in socal. They also have great fruit teas as well. The grape yogurt tea ($6) was so fire. Items are slightly on the pricy side but it's worth checking out. I got the spicy dry pot($19) half regular half potato noodles and could notice the difference. I do wish there was more beef in the dish instead of the Chinese ham which basically tastes like spam. But overall it was tasty. Overall really enjoyed my meal and will be back to try their other dishes. I had my eye on the noodle soup.
Pretty big restaurant with lots of seating. Service was quick and efficient. The drinks here are very sweet even when I got 50% sweet. Standouts were the side dishes like the celery with tofu skin and super potato (fried potato coated in a slightly spicy red sauce.) I wasn't a big fan of the noodles or the broth which tasted too oily. I have been really interested in the concept of potato noodles so was glad to try this place out. I was a bit disappointed to find the texture soft and slippery without a real bite to it. I would order half potato noodles half regular noodle next time. I saw lots of other people getting the rice dishes so maybe those are good!
Filling & delicious noodle soup! The place is bright and clean - a casual, but great spot to catch up with friends! Easy parking too. You order through a QR code and a server will bring out your food. Lots of selection from soup, rice plates, smoked and braised meats...I ordered the classic soup with potato noodles, though they also offer regular noodles (can do half/half). I've never had potato noodles before so I had to try! Bouncy and a bit slippery when eating with chopsticks. My only note is that the quail eggs really soak up the broth flavor so it became a bit salty. And the soup really stays hot in the lil black clay pot (good for some, but bad for me since I just want to eat my soup without burning my tongue, haha!) Next time I'll try their combo A (noodles + drink) or combo B (rice plate + snack + drink)!
I ordered the Longjiang Pork Knuckle with Rice plate. Everything was delicious. However, the egg was a tad overdone. I wish the customer service was kinder. The woman at the front didn't really care for me. I felt somewhat uncomfortable like a burden even though I was paying comfortable.

We grabbed a corner booth and people slowly began trickling in. Service was quick and efficient. Food Pig ear: 4/5 thick sliced pig ear. Good flavor. Pickled cucumber: 3/5 ok, pig ear was better Classic dry pot potato noodles: 5/5 my favorite out of everything we ordered. Very tasty dry noodle. Potato noodles are nice and chewy. Classic potato noodle soup: 3/5 ok Original broth beef noodle soup: 3/5 ok Spicy meat sauce pork: 3/5 ok Tomato crispy pork noodle soup: 2/5 tastes like ketchup, pork was soggy ( not crispy at all). Braised pork belly rice: 3/5 meat was super soft and fatty. Just ok. Overall I did enjoy the potato noodles. I liked the dry noodles the best even though I would pick soup over dry noodles any day.
Came here for a late lunch, so there wasn't a lot of people. Inside was very bright, simply decorated and airy, loved it! Out server was the best as well: gave us recommendations and was so helpful. The food was scrumptious.. full of flavor! So if your in the neighborhood, stop by, it'll be worth your tummy.
finally got to visit this spot. loved all the dishes we ordered & they have complimentary plum juice. the staff are really nice and orders came out pretty quick. we got the potato noodles which had a fun texture, cucumber & pig ears were refreshing, and the super potato which was yummy to snack on.

Large portions and flavorful dishes, overall solid meal. Potato noodles are extremely soft though, which didn't turn out to be my favorite. Coming in with a party of 2 around 7 pm on a a Saturday evening, there was no wait as there were plenty of tables available. The menu is accessed via QR code, and you place your order through the phone. Food came out reasonably quickly and hot. My husband got the pork belly rice plate, which was very large and filling. If you eat smaller meals then two might be able to share. I tried it as well and thought our cuts were mostly fat, but they were flavored well. I ordered the Shezuan (mala) potato noodle soup. Turns out potato noodles are really soft with basically no bite or chew, so they weren't as fun to eat as expected. Flavor and portion size were still good. The mala / numbing spice is particularly strong here, so if you like it, you'll have a good time. While everything was satisfactory and tasted good, I don't think I'd seek this place out as it wasn't as memorable. Decent if you're already in the area though. read more
Saw all the tiktoks on this and needed to know what potato noodles texture is like! I got the classic potato noodle soup and the pork ears and cucumber. The texture is super super super soft, I honestly thought there would be more of a chew or bite. I liked it, but didn't love it. I don't think I would come here just for the noodles. However, the flavor was pretty good, wasn't too spicy and had a lot of the mala flavor in the soup! I also really enjoyed the pork ears and cucumber, refreshing. Food: - Got a combo meal - Appetizers: honey mustard shrimp and super potato - both were great - The honey mustard shrimp was basically tempura with a nice sauce drizzled on top and the super potatos were crispy potatos that were nicely cooked and soft on the inside covered with a nice glaze - both were great - Got potato noodles which were chewy and warm, not very spicy - I would say it's a nice cozy meal - Also got drinks: mulberry and bayberry fruit tea and the red rice oats tea - Both drinks were supposed to come with these cute bears (the reason we wanted to try this place in the first place), but for the red rice oats tea they were not able to make the bear for whatever reason - 9/10 Service: - Hard to understand the waiters but still seemed nice - 7/10 Ambiance: - Well lit - Good amount of seating - Decent number of people - Great parking - 9/10 Overall Rating: 9/10 read more
Finally check out this spot after noticing it when I pick up some chicken next door a while ago Order the potato noodle + 1.99 sausage It came in a very hot small pot but it was extremely hot and holds quite a bit of noodles and alot of stuff. Quality eggs the sausage was actually hot dog sliced thinly. The stuff on the top was actually cold. I move it to the side plate along with half the noodle so I can get to the hot food The noodle was like udon but its alot more chewy and rubbery. I think it is process potato using a dispenser. These were very long noodles. Looks machine made. I really like the broth. It is kinda like mala hotpot very flavorful. Total was 17+1.99 +tax +15% tip = $23. I think next time I just not tip or put a couple dollars on the table. You go up to the cashier and order using qr code on the table. I dont think u need to tip. The owner probably just keeps it. Should leave it on the table for the girl that cleans the tables instead. I notice the rice plates looks really good in neighboring table. That looks really good. Not really a fan of the noodle. When I am craving a comforting bowl of the chewiest noodles ever, this is my go to spot!! Super Potato has a good variety of different broths and I love the toppings that each bowl cones with. The star of the show is different the extra bouncy potato noodles though. If you've never had potato noodles but love chewy noodles, you must try it out. Service was quick and the servers are friendly. The place is very casual and has quite a lot of seating. No frills but very clean dining area. I got the tomato crispy pork, the broth was delicious, less tomato-ey than I thought but added a sweetness to the meaty broth. The pork isn't really crispy (as expected, it's soaking up the juice haha) but very lean and good. We also ordered beef roll and I loved the egg on the outside and the fresh vegetables on the inside! As far as I know this is the only spot in the bay that specializes in potato noodles. read more
I really liked their potato noodle. I do have a slight bias toward thicker/round noodles. The flavor of the broth was good too. Highly recommend trying it out! The portion for the rice dish was huge. It's a pretty good value. The rice itself wasn't amazing, but it's decent restaurant rice (aka might not taste great reheated). Order via QR code. Pretty good spot with savory flavors! I saw they have cute teas here so I had to try! And their beef noodle soup looked interesting with potato noodles that honestly tasted like udon so it was yummy! Service was easy and the staff were nice. I also enjoyed the pig ear and pork feet appetizers! If you're a fan of exotic Asian type of food, this is the spot! read more
Tip: the combos are seriously the best bang for your buck Combo A - potato noodles are seriously qq in comparison to rice noodles (do not expect the qq / chewiness of hand pulled noodles... completely different wheel house) - it just looks fancy due to the varied toppings - for app we had the tofu skin with celery which was the highlight due to being that refreshing bite - ordered Hawthorne for the drink at 50% sweetness and no ice... person this was for said it was too sweet and therefore highly recommend adding ice! Combo B - looks fancy due to the large plate - one person in the party continuously complained the stewed pig trotter was the nastiest she has ever tasted whereas the rest of the crew agreed it was like what you get at an American bbq joint with too much fake smoke - app ordered: the potato tower... definitely THE BEST DISH OF THE ENTIRE MEAL!!! MUST ORDER!! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!! - drink ordered: passionfruit kumquat at 50% sweetness and 50% ice... yes very strange there's a halved grape tomato in the drink but I guess it is just for color. It was alright. Beef roll - do not order - legit tastes like a tortilla placed on some mixed eggs and heated - was served cold Service was nonexistent. Ordered through QR code via 39miles. Even though we spoke fluent Mandarin, zero conversations were made so other reviews stating this might be a race thing; I completely disagree because we received zero service. Paid via them placing a gadget on the table and then them just flat out leaving... At least ambience was chill and you can hear your own conversations instead of having to scream. I think this place is such a hidden gem (kinda)! The inside is spacious and there are QR code at each table for the menu and to order from the phone. My friend and I split a classic potato noodles and it came in a cute pot that looked small but was actually a good portion. The soup was absolutely delicious and so flavorful without being too salty or overpowering. There were a lot of toppings inside and it was a good amount of spice. My favorite noodle place since I like newness. Their noodles are in their own league. Never had noodles like these before. Plus there are sooo many unique flavors to savor. Their thick, chewy noodles becomes softer, imbued with flavor, after sogging up the broths. After trying their Tomato, Three Fresh and Original MildSpicy Broths, most in our party prefers the Original. I like the noodles when they first came out chewy in the Tomato broth, but love them sogged up later with the Three Fresh Broth. Beef Ribs in the Tomato Braised Ribs Beef Clay Pot Potato Noodles were super tender and flavorful. Everything we had was worth trying. The little ones raved about the Tornado Potato Tower, noodles, toppings and flavors. read more
Okay my friend and I thought the servings were for one person given the price but when we got our food, we noticed the portions were huge! This place is a hidden gem! The service was outstanding--friendly, fast, and genuinely welcoming from the moment we walked in. Our server was attentive without being overbearing and made sure we had everything we needed throughout the meal. I purchased a drink and couldn't finish it, so they helped me pack it to-go - so sweet! The portions are HUGE (like enough to feed 2-3 people), and everything we ordered was delicious and full of flavor. You definitely get more than your money's worth here. It's rare to find a spot where the food is delicious and incredibly affordable, but this place nails it. They're known for potato noodles, hence the restaurant name. If you're looking for a casual, satisfying meal with great value and even better service, this spot should be at the top of your list. Can't wait to come back! read more
Came for lunch on a Saturday in the early afternoon. Not crowded at all and a nice place to sit. Comfortable interior with water pitchers and a fat stack of napkins at each table. I got the spicy dry pot noodles. The potato noodles are much softer than traditional noodles but still keep their shape really well (more bouncy than disintegrating). The flavor was definitely there, perhaps a bit too much salt for my liking. The shrimp were really good, and I didn't even bother to peel them, they tasted good even with the shell on. Service was quick and professional. Right now if you dine in here you can roll 3 dice for a chance to win a Labubu, which is cool. I'd say it's definitely an interesting take on noodles, though after trying this I personally prefer a texture that's more QQ or al dente than potato noodles provide. I'll give it 4 stars since I think some will definitely enjoy this place and nothing was inherently wrong or bad in my experience! read more
i got the beef potato noodles here. i've never had potato noodles before, so thanks to super potato for introducing it to me. the noodles have this bouncy texture and it's able to soak up the broth so it makes each bite flavorful. we were seated immediately upon arrival. the booth we were seated in was spacious. the staff seemed pretty attentive, it was really easy to grab their attention once seated and ready to order or ask questions. this establishment provides great portions and value for the meal. it's a hidden gem that you should definitely try out the next time you're in the area! read more
Service was really quick and both soups were amazing in flavor! The beef noodle soup is very simple and basic and came with a good amount of beef, I only wish there were more Veggies. How it works: Ordering is through a QR code so you really don't need to interact with anyone. The food comes out pretty quickly after ordering. Food: Healthy three fresh noodles was pretty good. I found this spot while looking for a new place to try in Milpitas and what caught my eye were the thick potato noodles! I ordered the DIY Potato Noodles with fatty beef, shiitake mushroom, mussels, tofu puffs, and bok choy added on with the Hot & Sour broth! I didn't know that they would also add in fish balls, quail eggs, tofu shreds, and bean sprouts which were nice! I love the chewy and bouncy texture of the noodles and it wasn't something that I've had before. They're similar to the Vietnamese bun noodle mixed with the Korean sweet potato noodles! The broth itself wasn't very spicy or sour, they do have a sauce bar in the back right of the restaurant where there was chili oil, soy sauce, and vinegar if you wanted to try to make a dip or season the broth more. The other bowl which was the Szechuan broth, came in a clay pot which kept it warm for the entire meal and the broth wasn't very spicy or numbing - which was kind of disappointing. I liked that all of the ingredients weren't overcooked and it was nice to be able to do special adjustments if you preferred your bowl to have less oil, spice, no garlic, etc. I would definitely recommend this spot and come here again. We shared the pork head and cucumber (cold dish) and each got our own noodle dish. The pork head and cucumber was pretty refreshing. For my noodle dish, I got the beef potato noodles. I went with the original flavor which is described as slightly spicy. It wasn't as spicy as the Szechuan potato noodles but still had a kick to it. The beef was like standard hot pot beef. The ingredients were also pretty standard. The noodles really stood out to me though! Very chewy and bouncy and I enjoyed the dish overall. Broth had good strong flavor too. Tried this place out with my friends for lunch on a Saturday! Place was busy but we were seated right away. I got the Sichuan potato noodles and loved them. They're super flavorful and a good amount of spicy. The noodles are the best, chewy and long. Would definitely come again. read more

Came with a group of friends on a Monday night, it was raining so it was soup weather! This is located in the Calaveras Plaza Shopping center, plenty of parking outside. There were only a few people inside and we were seated right away. WiFi password is on every table as well! I was looking forward to potato noodles since I haven't tried them before, so I ordered the tomato beef ribs soup with their signature potato noodles. It was so good, it did not disappoint. The noodles had such an interesting texture, they were perfectly bouncy and chewy, really fun to eat. Plenty of meat and other toppings in the bowl as well. There was a little too much tofu skin in my bowl for my liking though. But the bowl was really hot and stayed hot the entire time! We also ordered a plate of pork head and cucumbers which I've also never had before, and not really my favorite dish, but my friends enjoyed it. Definitely hit the soup craving! Come try it if you like chewy noodles! I've looked up potato noodles online and it looks like people are just making it as thick noodles like rice cakes, so I found this place very unique and we'll definitely be craving it again soon. read more
