This is my third time coming here and I have to say that I really enjoy coming here. The food is good, the lighting is nice, and the tables and the restroom are clean. The staff are very attentive and always come by to refill water. It's also located conveniently across from ranch 99 if you want to grab anything after. I've had the house special pho, the seared filon mignet pho, one of the rice plates, the baguette with egg cream, and the fried shrimp cakes. The pho broth is rich and there's a generous enough portion of meat. I really like the seasoning for the wok seared meat as well. The fresh noodles are also silky. The baguettes are solid, but I think the fried shrimp cake is better (I know it's appetizer vs dessert). The shrimp cakes come with cabbage wraps, cilantro, pickled carrots and daikon radish, and basil + mint leaves. This is also probably the first Vietnamese restaurant I've been to that actually served the appetizers first and had workers going around to see if people were almost done with them before serving the pho. read more

Even though being in a mall, this place does not cut corners on the flavor. We ordered both dishes that are not regular/popular western Vietnamese necessarily. Banh Khot was amazing- crispy bottom, chewy gooey center with perfectly cooked juicy shrimp. Fresh herbs and lettuce cups with spicy Nuoc mam (dipping sauce). If you are new to this dish- do yourself a favor- make a lettuce cups with 4-5 leaves of each herbs, add few picked carrots and diakons. Fold the cup, dip in the sauce and enjoy! Fried catfish was crispy on the outside, juicy inside, succulent and excellently flavored. Highly recommend this dish if you haven't tried it already. Service is fast, sit on the outside patio on a warm sunny day and enjoy iced coffee after the food. Will be back for sure. read more

We stopped here before doing some grocery shopping. Tonight I decided to get the oxtail pho since I have been craving the oxtail soups that I get in Hawaii. Service was great - hostess was friendly and they kept checking in on us whether the food was good or we need more water etc. Kids got beefball that they enjoyed and again I got the oxtail pho. The meat came off the bones and I really was hungry since I devoured everything. I also order the lychee drink which was also amazing. I would recommend it. From First Visit to Instant Favorite I had lunch at Pho 408 with my son, who has been here many times, but this was my first visit--and it definitely won't be my last. The pho was served with the option of fresh rice noodles, which made a noticeable difference. I ordered the rare slice of steak pho, and the portions were generous compared to most places. The steak tasted fresh (not frozen like you often get elsewhere), the vegetables were crisp and plentiful, and the broth arrived piping hot--exactly how pho should be. Wow. This place is legit. It's located inside the mall right next to 99 Ranch. The restaurant was decent sized and pretty clean. The service is very good. They checked on us multiple times for water and other things. My family ordered the pho dac biet (combo). The broth was perfect. The fresh noodles were great also. When we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by the staff and quickly shown to our table. We were given menus and cold water was quickly brought to our table. After the browsing the menu we decided to order. I ordered the vermicelli salad bowl with pork skewers and my husband ordered the hot & sour with catfish served with rice. We also ordered the imperial rolls to share. Our appetizer came out first. The egg rolls were piping hot. You only get 3 per order, which I thought was strange. Usually at all other Vietnamese restaurants you get an even 4 egg rolls per order. They were pretty amazing. They had a nice crunch and were filled with pork and shrimp. The dipping sauce was very good and had a bit of a spicy kick. We really enjoyed them. Our main entrees came out. My husband enjoyed his hot & sour fish soup. There was quite a large portion of fish inside it. My vermicelli salad with pork skewers was amazing. I think out of all the Vietnamese restaurants we've gone to where I've ordered this same dish, this was by far the best I've had. The grilled pork was so juicy and full of flavor. The vermicelli and salad were amazing with the fish sauce dressing. It was outstanding! The service was also excellent. I needed some soy sauce and they quickly brought me some for my meal. I went here for my anniversary dinner . It's conveniently located inside the oakridge mall , right in front of the 99 Ranch market . There were quite few people inside the restaurant when we arrived on a Friday at 7 pm but they didn't make us wait too long to get seated . Once we were seated , our server came and explained us some of the dishes . Food was super duper good and the portion size was really large . We realized after a while that we ordered more than what we can have . We had to bring some of it back home . I really liked the fish sauce wings and the caramalized catfish . It came with 3 full pieces of catfish , rice , salad ,broth and the server asked me if I would like to have spicy dip kinda thing with it and he warned me it's is quite spicy . I had that as well . Everything was super good . We were there with our kids and the staff was super caring and made sure we are taken care of properly. The server saw my younger one struggling little bit with height of the table and asked if I need a booster seat ( my younger one doesn't like being seated in a child seat so I was happy with the booster) . I should have eaten a vegetarian diet today per the lunar calendar, but I was not feeling well, and wanted pho. Skeptical at first, but I was quickly proven wrong. The broth is clean and flavorful. A generous amount of tender cuts of meat and tendon. The herbs were fresh. Gavin took one bite of the shaken beef and became a fan instantly. We will return. Next time I will ask for iced water. Didn't realize this restaurant was more than just a Pho noodle place due to the name. Then I saw the many pictures of all the sizzling plates and what drew me in were the lemongrass pork skewers because it brought me back to my mom's home cooking and the days when she used to make them. It fell short of all the childhood memories in the taste category, but visually, it was there. Service was great. The filet mignon shaking beef with rice (Com Bo Luc Lac) was pretty good but did not have very much meat. A lot more vegetables than meat. Had they added about 4 more cubes, it would've been worth it. Could be a little more savory and saucier too. The combo of wok-seared filet sizzling plate was the bomb and definitely worth coming back for! So tender and flavorful, albeit a bit thinner than most skillet filets. These skillets were all served with delicious pate, sliced sausage, 2 sunny side up eggs, a big loaf of fresh French bread or steamed rice, a salad with vinagrette dressing over pickled carrots, daikon and a bed of lettuce, and a nice hearty pho broth to wash down your meal. The fried chicken skillet was good but had a lot of Chinese five spice seasoning which I am not the biggest fan of. It was tasty though. Came here for a quick bite with my son and the vibes were perfect! Loved the fast service, Vincent was super nice and greeted every customer right away, which I really appreciated. It's also very kid-friendly. They even offer scissors so you can cut the noodles for your little ones. Vincent also brought out a special chili on the side that's not always on every table, and that was a big plus for me, so good! Overall, 8/10. Came here with my daughter for a late lunch on Monday. They're still pretty busy at 1:30pm, but there's no wait for a table. I had bookmarked this place since it opened earlier this year. So glad I could finally tried it. It's right across from 99 Ranch at the Oakridge mall. As soon as we stepped into the restaurant, we could smell an intense pho aroma, we immediately knew we wouldn't be disappointed. It's bright and spacious inside, and there's a good size patio outdoor as well. My daughter ordered a rare steak pho with thin rice noodles. They also offered it with thick rice noodles. Per our server, most people would prefer the default thin noodles and my daughter was happy that she took his recommendation. The broth was very flavorful, and the accompanying herbs and bean sprouts were very fresh. The beef to noodle ratio was perfect and there's a good amount of both. I ordered the Vietnamese crepe as I didn't usually see it at other Vietnamese restaurants in the area. Even though it's an appetizer, it's quite filling, and was the perfect amount for me as lunch. I was able to make quite a few lettuce wraps using the crepe, fresh herbs, and pickles, then dipping each one in the fish sauce. Every bite was a perfect bite and so refreshing. It would be even better if the bottom of the crepe was less oily. Service was very friendly and attentive. Always a favorite but not for pho. I usually get #34 the House Sizzling combo (banh mi chao bo) with filet mignon, 2 sunny side eggs, sausage and pate in garlic butter soy sauce. They also give you a side salad and soup, and choice of bread or rice. The bread is definitely my favorite way to eat it. You dip it into the sauce or throw meat or egg into it and it's the perfect bite. I also like to get G1. the traditional summer roll. I don't know why I always like to try this at different places and it always disappoints but the one here is pretty good. I love that they use banh hoi which is really thin rice noodles and the peanut dipping sauce is nicely balanced. It's not too peanut forward and slightly sweet. I always ask for extra carrots and add some to each bite. I ordered the shaken beef with garlic noodles today and we enjoyed that too. Noodles had a good garlic flavor which my kids inhaled and shaken beef tasted similar to the meat in my sizzling combo platter. It's win win dish! I appreciate the fresh noodles they have for the pho but the pho soup had a very strong flavor of some spice I couldn't put my finger on. My husband thinks it's cinnamon. Either way, not our favorite but we do enjoy the other dishes from here. Coffee is decent and scratches the itch. I always wanted to try the DIY spring roll but I'm always drawn to the sizzling combo platter. Service is good but they can get pretty busy. Plenty of seating but half of the seats are outside. We pass by this new pho restaurant a lot since we usually park at the Ranch 99 parking lot area when we visit Oakridge Mall. Been curious to check them out since we are big fans of Vietnamese food. We finally arrived for a Friday lunch recently since we were in the area. The restaurant is located in the Oakridge mall across of Ranch 99 and next to UFC Fit Gym. There is accessible parking in the large mall parking lot. I remember a Taiwanese restaurant use to occupy this space before Pho 408 took over. The decor is simple, modern, and bright. There is a huge outdoor patio for dine in that looked inviting but since it was a little chilly there was no one there. We ordered a beef balls pho and a beef ribs pho. Everything was so delicious. The broth was flavorful and soothing. The beef ribs in my pho was tender and scrumptious with every bite. I appreciated that they provided a scissor for cutting the meat. Overall we enjoyed our experience at Pho 408. The service was friendly and accommodating. I think the name of the restaurant is catchy. Always down to try new pho spots and finally made my way to Pho 408. Came on a Saturday before noon solo and felt a little odd that they sat me in the back by myself while the front area had customers. The doors to the outdoor patio was open and it was freezing. I asked the employee if he could close the door and he was very nice but he did not close the door all the way. I was still really cold so I asked to be moved or the door closed all the way. Thankfully he did. I ordered pho tai without cilantro and a side of white onions. I also asked for their chili sauce that I had read in reviews. The pho was a very large portion, though their prices are a little bit more than other restaurants. The steak was so tender and the best part of the pho. However, the soup was too sweet for my liking. Besides the sweeter soup, it's a great place to eat pho and other dishes. We also had #41 $ 17.95 the Vermicelli salad w/grilled pork skewers. It comes in a bowl everything blended good. We ordered that twice also. We also had #66 $17.96 Chicken Chow Fun. The Good: *Great décor and ambiance *Tons of mall parking *Dog-friendly outdoor dining *Sugar cane drinks were very good. If you get the plain sugar cane, make sure to ask for the Kumquat ($0) to help give the drink a little tang. *Fresh housemade noodles for a slight ($1.50) upcharge that's 100% worth it. *Oxtails in my phở were tender and delicious. *My picky son loved his crab fried rice (Viet Royal Family Fried Rice) . The Meh: *I felt like the broth in my phở was a bit weak and underflavored for my liking. It just didn't have that deep beefy flavor slurp-worthy flavor I long for. *Service was friendly but there was a bit of a language barrier and he wasn't a great listener tbh. *I was surprised they don't have any vermicelli noodle bowls as an option, which is my go-to in the summer. Maybe they will as the menu fleshes out over time. The Ugly: *Almost zero veg-head friendly options, as my sister had to get the tofu summer rolls as her entrée. After taking a closer look at the menu, it looks like they had a variety of food from pho to com tam and banh mi. you can also get your vietnamese coffee fix if you like. the overall service was great. food arrived fairly quickly, waiters were prompt and took our orders. it was pleasant. since i've been trying to find a new spot to eat pho, of course i had to order their pho. though after seeing someone ordered their wings, i kind of wanted to try it to, but it's ok, i ordered some other stuff too. i saw they had bread with a sweet cream butter, pandan soymilk and spring rolls (goi cuon). i was a bit disappointed with their pandan soymilk though. it didn't really taste like pandan or even soymilk either. the sweet cream butter with hot baguette was really good, but not the same concept as butter and condense milk drizzle. the goi cuon was good. super fresh and the peanut sauce dip was good too. on to the main course - pho. the smell was there, the herbs were fresh, plenty of meat if you order the special, but i was slightly disappointed in the broth. it had all the components and smell, but the broth just didn't hit the right spot. it tasted like it was missing something. overall, the place is great for their location in a mall and for those who wants to eat some pho. would i come back? possibly to try their other items and maybe their goi cuon and the bread. read more

A food spot in a mall? A big surprise, the food was prepared quickly, was served super hot. The service was 'on point' , water glass was never empty. Inside there are a lot of tables and it has outside seating as well, nice looking restaurant with a spacious setup. And the food, very generous portions, very tasty. In Oakridge? Hungry? Came for dinner and was super excited to try it. Overall this place was average. Service is a little rough as some of the wait staff don't really speak English. Ordered a Diet Coke, but seeing they aren't cold and are room temp, even giving it with a cup of ice isn't as satisfying. Also had the garlic noodles which they said was a must try... there isn't that much garlic flavor... more wok flavor. Albeit, the noodle quality was good. Also had the egg rolls, these are super pricy as you only get 3. Also had the beef rib pho... it was tough and chewy and the broth wasn't the best I have had seeing it leaned more towards a cinnamon taste. Overall, I would come back, but I would try either their other noodle dishes or maybe even a bahn mi. This is a nice nice location in the Almaden valley and gives you variety without having to drive to the east side. read more

Refused entrance to restaurant on Saturday because I had a service dog. Staff needs training on ADA laws regarding service animals. Asked for manager, but none forthcoming. Just kept saying dogs are not allowed. Not a good look for establishments in Oakridge Mall. This pho place is conveniently located at the mall entrance on the back of Oakridge mall. It is across from Ranch 99 by the mall entrance. The wait staff was attentive and service was prompt. The broth was tasty and it dis not make me feel thirsty afterward (a sign for overloaded MSG). Aside from the traditional pho, there are rice plates and numerous appetizers you can try. I had the fried tofu, crab meet fried rice which tasted ok, not the best I have had. Overall it is a good place to satisfy your hunger. They also offer a variety of appetizers, sandwich options and Vietnamese beverage choices. It is worth a try. read more

I've been able to visit Pho 408 several times over the past year. This place has slowly climbed to the top of my favorite pho restaurants. They have a variety of items on the menu besides pho. I would definitely recommend getting either the banh xeo or banh khot along with your main dish. Everything I've tried on the menu has been great thus far. The pho broth is flavorful and not overly seasoned with MSG or salt. The service here is great, and they are very accommodating, even with bigger groups. There is plenty of parking as it's located in Oakridge next to 99 Ranch. They also have plenty of seating indoors and out. If you are in South San Jose and craving pho, I would give Pho 408 a try. read more

This place is pretty new in San Jose and I definitely recommend getting the pho or the sizzling pan here. The price was pretty good for the portions we got and the food came out pretty fast. The staff were really sweet and the vibe of the restaurant was pretty cozy and family friendly! Definitely recommend locals and visitors, and also it's in a shopping mall so there are other shops you can visit while getting food here! read more

This newly opened Vietnamese restaurant caught my eye a few times since it's located right next to 99 Ranch at Oakridge Mall. Finally decided to give it a try! The staff were polite and friendly, which made for a pleasant first impression. I ordered noodles and an egg roll. The egg roll presentation was nicely done, though I found the portion a bit small. That said, the fish sauce was flavorful and complemented it well. The noodle soup came in a reasonable portion for the price. I really liked the broth -- clean, light, and tasted like it didn't rely heavily on MSG, which I appreciate. Looking forward to coming back to try their rice dishes next time.
