The hubs and I popped into this place on a whim after running some errands nearby and being indecisive about what we wanted for dinner... And while we had zero expectations for this spot, especially after walking into a nearly empty dinning area... I have to say... Pho Kitchen is pho-nominal! We were immediately greeted by the friendliest of staff and sat at a table of our choosing. Upon being seated, we were handed a menu and a tablet to order from. What is unique about this place, is that they require you to pay on the tablet once placing your order similar to a fast food kiosk, yet you get the convince of doing so at your table without having to get up--quite innovative if you ask me. Especially considering they even allowed for customizations on the menu using the tablet which is superb. We were really impressed with the fast and friendly service and the freshness of the food. Everything was served hot and full of flavor. While my better half opted for the rare steak Pho, I went for the BBQ Chicken Bahn Mi and we split an order of veggie spring rolls and washed it all down with some freshly brewed teas. Speaking of teas... 100% customizability down to the type of tea used, sweetness and ice levels. I highly recommend these refreshing options to pair with your meal. (See photos for recommendation). I ordered my usual vermicelli dish - sometimes it's pork, rarely beef, this time it was chicken. Sometimes there's a shrimp option, but not this time (at least with another protein). The eggs rolls were there. This place you order on a tablet, have to pay when you order (they had a sign saying they've had dine-and-dashers, which I can see would be easy enough to do), but as a result, it doesn't feel quite like a normal sit-down restaurant. Because it's very much self-service except they do bring the food to your table. It's a little less indie/family restaurant feeling, and more chain (which I believe it is) somewhat impersonal vibe? We were here for the food anyway, so not a big deal. How was the food, especially since I basically always get this same dish at Vietnamese restaurants? It was fine, honestly the food itself was probably a 3.5 overall, but with no 0.5 star options, I think a 3 is more fair for the overall experience. I'd justify that by saying the food was about average, nothing special, and it was somewhat impersonal with the tablets, prepayment, and the only contact being when the employees bring the food. The taste wasn't really special, even though the chicken quality and egg rolls were pretty good. I think the fish sauce was just a bit lacking, which makes up a big part of the flavor profile. With better fish sauce, I think it would have been a 4 for the food and a 4 overall for the restaurant. Would I come here again? Not come out of my way for sure, but I also would be fine coming here if someone suggested it. That's kind of the the definition of a 3-3.5 star place for me. read more

3 of us came here for an early dinner on Sunday. It was pretty empty as it was early. They had a lot of tables inside and a couple of tables in the outdoor patio. Decor inside looked nice, but their floor could use some cleaning. They brought water to us after we sat down. Order/payment was via a tablet they brought to us together with the printed menus. There's a sign at the table saying that payment had to be made when ordering. Food came out pretty quickly. My husband and I each had their #74 BBQ Chicken & Egg Rolls Vermicelli. It looked good like what we had expected, but lacked flavor. Our daughter ordered #27 Rare Steak Noodle Soup. She said that it wasn't very flavorful either. The basil that came with it didn't look very fresh. We had had better and more authentic Vietnamese food in the area. Not sure why their ratings were so high. I dined here and was so excited for a new Pho restaurant in the area, but I will not be back. Came early on a Saturday morning and sat where there's a wall between the front counter. It's super bright and airy inside but since you order off a tablet, there's no real service from the team. At one point I had to walk to the front counter to get their attention. The staff had no knowledge as to what fresh noodles were and though I appreciated there was no extra charge to swap, 3-4 slurps and you're done. The amount of fresh noodles is measly compared to the other rice noodles. But the soup....it was a bowl of pure oil. Pho is the broth over anything and it doesn't matter if it has been cooked for 24 hours. If you're not skimming the fat, what's the point in boasting about it? I've been on this pho kick for over a year and I knew I did not want to drive far. I've tried almost every pho restaurants in my area except for this place. It's one of the first Vietnamese restaurant that I ordered and paid before my food arrive. Like what if I wanted to order more food? Anyway, just first world problems. The restaurant is clean and the service was quick and great. They checked on me a couple times to make sure everything was fine. The tendon can use a little more time in the pot, but overall a very delicious bowl of pho; the broth was light and flavorful, meats were tender, and herbs were fresh. There are plenty of tables and booths for dine in at the spacious restaurant. We wanted to try a bit of everything, so we ordered shrimp & avocado spring rolls, Taiwanese basil popcorn chicken, chicken wings with sweet chili sauce, meatballs noodle soup, dragon fruit Italian soda, and the shrimp & egg rolls vermicelli. Everything was delicious. The spring rolls were so scrumptious with the peanut dipping sauce. My favorite dish was the popcorn chicken. It was flavorful and crispy with every bite. The plump shrimp and crispy egg rolls in the vermicelli went very well with the fish sauce soaked noodles. My son said he enjoyed his sweet Italian soda very much. Overall we enjoyed our experience at Pho Kitchen. The staff were friendly and accommodating. The tablet menu to order that is provided to your table is a nice touch. Sandwiches, ribs, Korean corn dogs?? never had those before and look forward to trying them out on my next visit. Location is perfect Almaden Expressway off Hgwy 85. Easy to get to and in a busy area with other food restaurants and other types of merchants. Service was great. Young people helping us out and explaining the ways to order on the Ipad menu's. In this quiet, jazzy evening, I encountered Pho Kitchen, taking over the former noodle place that used to be here. It was a very clean place, and quite surprised that there were only a couple of people eating at this place. Finding a table was no trouble, and at the register you can order for to-go if you wish. For those who are eating on location like me, I received a tablet to order the food from one of the staff. Seeing pictures of the food through the tablet was helpful. They can help you customize your pho option, in which I got a well done brisket pho with no veggies on it. In under 10 minutes, I received my order, hot and ready. I think the spoons of this restaurant could be changed. It's not really the right spoon to eat with soup. The pho noodles were okay, though I wish it were soaked more in the broth because it tasted bland than other places I had visited. The meat was cooked well. We tried the crispy shrimp and pork egg rolls (we were amazed by all the flavor these little guys had) bbq pork bahn mi (amazing and delicious) and the seafood pho with fresh noodles. There are kiosks to order independently for Togo orders. They provided menus and a tablet for seated parties. This place typically has decent parking but can be hard to find a space during peak times. Everything was so fresh and yummy! So good and we can't wait to come back! read more

3.5 stars. A couple months ago, we were sad to find out that Dessert Lounge on Meridian was closed. Come to find out, they just opened under a different name here. We're happy to know and report that they still serve bingsu and myungrang. Their Korean corndogs are still as good as before with great crunch and a "healthy" amount of cheese. For $8 per corndog, it's nice to have a place so close. The ambiance is relaxed with smooth jazz and comfy seats. We also got boba and their boba itself is slightly on the softer side and to me, a perfect texture. They also have Phin coffee which is a treat. Concerns: I don't know if the person in the back washed their hands after using the bathroom. My table was right by the bathroom and they were noticeably fast. I also don't think I got "pistachio cream" but just got normal cream on my boba. They're also somewhat pricey with their pho and other rice plates. Maybe it's just the changing times but edging to $16-18 for pho is rough on the wallet. I am again worried about too large of a menu rather than focusing on a good core. I tried the grilled pork plate. There is an option to order extra meat so I ordered grilled chicken on the side. Both the pork and chicken tasted only slightly sweet, so the marinade here isn't as sweet as other Vietnamese places. There are obvious grill marks on the meat as well. If you prefer grilled meat not having that slight burnt carbon taste on the meat due to the grill marks you may want to go elsewhere. The marinade for the meat was very limited and not sweet at all, so the taste of the grill marks was made even more noticeable. The complete lack of sweetness was a change for me. I am not sure if I would order it again, but the rating reflects that there were no issues with the preparation if this is what is intended, along with the overall experience. The Thai iced tea was rather generic. I should probably drop the habit of ordering it everywhere it's available. The servers were young and friendly. They gave me a pad for ordering and that was easy to use. I went in the afternoon after the lunch crowd so it was rather empty there.
