No Pho King way! This place is the GOAT. Portion sizes are just the perfect size. I went to one pho place in the east side, man it sucked. But this place takes the cake. Staff who work here is very nice. You don't have to be obligated to tip. You are actually paying for quality here not just some soupy junk that makes absolutely no sense. Store is very clean. I had no issues with messed up food. Not over or undercooked. Waiting time is not so bad because it shows they put a lot of elbow grease into whatever they are making. Meh. It'll get the job if you're craving pho but there's so many better spots around. The broth comes piping hot and is really tasty, but there's noodles are soggy and break apart. The meat quality is also really mediocre, slightly overcooked, and chewy. We also got the fried wontons which I thought were just okay. Not much flavor and a bit skimpy on the filling. I tried their Shaking Beef/Bò Lúc Lắc. The marinade was more soy sauce than something sweet (like oyster sauce) that might characterize the beef for other places. The beef was okay; a few pieces were tender but most not so much and that was the biggest drawback for me. Thai iced tea was rather generic insofar as it tasted like something you would get at any boba tea place and seemed like it was made by the same sort of drink mixing machine; less if a creamy taste than the average. There was only one person in the front of the house when I went (around 2 P.M. on a Sunday), and service was adequate. OMG, I am deep in my spicy bún bò huế era, and this spot did not disappoint. I ordered a bowl and, omg, I was seriously impressed. I usually rave about the one at Pho Lyfe, but dare I say... this one might just take the crown. The broth had the perfect spicy kick, super rich and flavorful, and for the first time ever, I actually finished the entire bowl (and that never happens). I was craving pho and we found this place. It's kind of small inside but the service is superrrrrr quick. The tables had a bit of that musty rag smell but it wasn't too bad. It's a new place - I find the name of the restaurant a novelty, specially since it's next to Burger King. They seem to be still figuring things out - napkins are given to you separate and is not on the table, I get it, a business has to look out for their expenses. Friendly and quick like most Pho places. I wasn't a fan of the prices and the bowls having only 1 size. Given that there's no shortage of pho restaurants in San Jose, Pho King is one of the few that's pretty decent on the west side, bordering Santa Clara and Cupertino. The restaurant itself is a bit small but the service was great. The hostess/waitress sat us down quickly and took our orders as soon as we were ready. What was ordered: + Fresh spring rolls - would order again! The wrapping wasn't dry and thick, as some places are, and they packed it with a lot of meat and veggies. Their peanut sauce was also a huge plus and make the spring roll that much better. + Rare steak & tripe pho - they are extremely generous with the protein here. I wasn't able to finish all the tripe because it became a bit too much for me after a while. Their soup was piping hot, not extremely flavorful but it did the job. This place really hits the spot if you're craving pho but you don't want to make your way into the heart of SJ where all the pho spots are. I got the pho dac biet and the spring rolls. Just the two items came out to be over $27, which is pretty steep. We came here because we were all super hungry and it was nearby. We were the only ones eating here on a Friday night, but I didn't question it because of the high reviews. Everything is on the pricier side especially for a pho place. I honestly didn't really like the food too much because it wasn't anything special or even as good as the normal spots I go to. The meats didn't seem to be that great quality as they were a bit chewy. I got the pork and egg roll vermicelli and it was a little bland and dry. My mom had the garlic noodles which were more like tomato noodles and she complained about the lack of variety in ingredients (only shrimp as protein) and it wasn't very flavorful. Not gonna lie, the name got me in the door when I was considering a few nearby places. I was very pleased that I chose it because it's scrupulously clean, which cannot be said for all pho places. As I'm not a fan of pho, I can't review theirs. I am a fan of Bun, however, and thoroughly enjoyed my meal. I was considering an appreciate if egg rolls, but decided that would be too much food for a casual solo lunch, so instead I got the vermicelli dish with egg rolls; best of both worlds! The egg rolls are incredible, hot, with a super flaky and crunchy exterior. I enjoyed the rest of the dish very much, too and would order it again in a heartbeat. Here is my two cents, on the quality quantity and price of my order.. It was delivered in a very timely matter by GrubHub.. I thought I had order a pork with rice meal . I thought the pork would be chopped up and added on top of the rice or nearby... Walking into a place named Pho King (an obvious play on words) right next to a Burger King, and they've already got a star from me for having a good sense of humor. The 2nd star is immediately earned for having a clean and well decorated restaurant. The 3rd star is then earned for the wonderful customer service provided by the lady who greeted, and seated my table. My wife ordered the pho, and I ordered a steak and pasta dish with bell peppers and salad. The 4th star then earned for the delicious food, that rivals any pho restaurant in the area.
