We came on a Wednesday around 5:30 and it was pretty lively. There was a steady flow of people coming in the whole time. The service is quick and friendly. We ordered 4 egg rolls to start. They were SUPER crispy and I loved the filling. They are also a little oily but in the best way. I ordered the #30 with an egg for my entree. The egg is extra but well worth it. I think the rice is cooked with green onions. It's super flavorful and slightly oily, which I enjoy. The pork chops were equally as flavorful and cooked well. I like that they are on the thinner side. The plate also comes with salad and pickled radish/ carrots, which adds a bit of freshness. The best part is it also comes with a little cup of soup, so you can satisfy your craving for pho. My fiance ordered the combo pho. The meat was tender and the broth was nice and light. I don't get down to this neck of the woods much anymore, but when I am, it's to visit the fish store and this restaurant I brought my daughter here for more years than I can count and the broth is the best in the area. Absolutely terrific fried rolls and they give you enough Basil. Some places are a little bit stingy with it, but you definitely get enough items to make your soup just what you want. Pretty good casual spot for pho! We came here on a whim on a Saturday morning with some friends after wanting to get something different from our regular pho restaurant. I got the chicken pho while most of my friends got a variation of beef pho. Between the 2, I liked the chicken pho better as the broth was lighter and brighter than the beef broth. The side of bean sprouts, basil and jalapeños were good but I wish they had limes rather than lemons which really make a difference to the flavor. I also liked that for the phos, you can choose small or large. Heard great things about this pho restaurant and went for an early lunch on a Saturday. The plaza is old as well as inside. Servers are courteous and I ordered a pho tai with filet mignon (extra $3.50) and (2) egg rolls and (1) spring roll. I like how they have the option for smaller orders, but they are really tiny compared to other restaurants! Egg rolls were good though. When my pho arrived, I immediately spotted a hair on the inside of the bowl, touching the soup. I pointed it out and the server apologized and went back to get me a new bowl. Not 100% sure it was a new order...but I ate it anyways. What we appreciated was the broth was super hot and pretty tasty. For a large, the noodle portion isn't too much. There's not a lot of meat either. I was glad I got the filet mignon as my mom's steak did not look very tasty and a bit dry. Overall, it was okay, but prefer other pho joints. read more

San Jose is a city dotted with countless pho shops, and Pho Long Thinh deserves a spot among the very best. It's in a very unassuming location tucked into an old shopping plaza along Saratoga, but the food is incredibly good and the prices are better than many comparable pho restaurants. My wife and her family are big time pho fans and even though they've tried different places all over San Jose, Pho Long Thinh has yet to be dethroned as their favorite spot. It's the flavor of the broth that really sets this place apart. Personally, I'm not a fan of pho but thankfully they have an excellent beef stew dish (Bo Kho - #24) that is absolutely delicious! It comes with either noodles or bread, and it is a must-try if pho isn't really your thing. Today was my second time take out for vegetarian pho. I got large pho with extra veggies and extra tofu. The place is very clean and the prices quite low. The meal was quite wholesome and with extra tofu and veggies, you can really see how much you got to eat. Their veggie broth is very flavorful too. I asked for a side of chili oil to kick up the flavor even further. Though I don't have any reason to complain now when I sit here stomach so full that I can barely move, but I'm always very fond of drinking more broth. My only suggestion would be if they can give tofu in a separate box like veggies then they'll have more space for broth.
