Luosifen Rice Noodle
Angela L.

We stopped by this place for a late- lunch Togo. The shop is grand opening. It's decent amount of people late-noon. The ordering screen is straightforward to use. They mainly offer rice noodles that are authentic to Chinese southwest cuisine. The spicy level is high. I asked for mild-spicy, and still couldn't handle much. But I can see the flavor attracts a lot of folks. And I'll be back soon to try out no -spicy ones.

The lousifen is legit. The broth is so flavorful and the toppings were generous. Will need to go back to try their other dishes.

Kung Pao chicken was battered and fried (!) and had no sauce or vegetables. Will not return.

The owner took the time to…read moreexplain to us the inspiration behind the dishes and that really made the restaurant super inviting. We started with the crab crostini and the Brussels sprouts. The crab was very fresh and each crostini had a large portion of crab on top. The Brussels sprouts were very crispy and very umami with the cheese and bacon combination mixed in. The empanada was honestly a showstopper. I don't know how to describe it other than you have to try it. Both pastas were good but I prefer the mushroom one over the short rib ragu. The halibut was also good, and the basil sauce made it even better. I was already super impressed with everything but I think the stars were the 2 desserts. The Dubai cheesecake was an Italian style cheesecake, so it was a lot lighter than I was expecting (which was welcomed) and captured the essence of Dubai chocolate without being too overwhelming. The Lira in Wonderland was also SO good. It had a crown of cotton candy and was a mix of biscoff cookies, dehydrated red velvet cake (don't knock it till you try it), butterscotch sauce, and strawberries. I was honestly blown away by this meal.

This was supposed to be a special birthday dinner date that my husband meticulously planned for me,…read morebut it turned into the most horrendous dining experience I've ever had. We dined at Lira on November 14th. The Service (or Lack Thereof): The Menu Shortage: We arrived for our 6:45 PM reservation only to be told by the manager that they didn't have enough menus. We were told they'd bring them "later." Ignored for 35+ Minutes: We sat with nothing but water for over half an hour. To make matters worse, a table of six was seated after us and received their full entrees while we were completely ignored. The Drink Mess: After 40 minutes, the server told me they were out of ingredients for my drink. When I picked a second option, she tried to insist I wanted a drink with celery (my most despised vegetable). We thankfully stopped her before it was made, but the incompetence was staggering. The Food Fiasco: An hour into our reservation, someone dropped off a scallop dish. A while later, a server asked if I'd "received the scallops yet," and I realized the plate I was eating wasn't even intended for our table. We were so starving that my husband and I just shared them. Once we finished, the server finally asked my husband if he "still wanted his meal or if he wanted to cancel it." I finally lost my cool - of course he still wanted his dinner! The Aftermath: My husband didn't realize that my friends had actually made a separate reservation to take me back to this same spot the following night for a second birthday celebration. After this performance, there was no way I was going to step foot in this building again or give them another cent of our money. I texted my friends from the table to cancel those reservations and book elsewhere. With service this disorganized and insulting, this restaurant won't be in business long. Super disappointing. Don't waste your special occasions here. *Edit - it looks like Lira has closed. With the service we experienced, I am not surprised in the slightest. I am hopeful that whichever future business occupies this space is more successful.

Best BBQ by far in the Bay!…read more Ribs.. on point Collard Greens.. on point Corn bread.. yumm (but they can be a little bigger) Mac n cheese.. great portion (could be a little more creamier) we also ordered the banana pudding, which is super yummy. We had the seafood gumbo, not too spicy, but spicy enough and it was good with big portions of seafood and sausage with a scoop of rice over it. Ordering was easy we scanned a barcode put in our order and got our food within 10 minutes. Great customer service very clean and while we were eating, we could see that the employees put a lot of care into cleaning the tables and seats. Plenty of parking in back very spacious. They have overhead fans, but no need to turn them on because the restaurant was cool and airy not stuffy or hot. The waiters or servers always checked up on us to make sure that we were OK and if we needed anything else. This restaurant knows what they're doing! Added to one of my fav spots!

An unforgettable barbecue sandwich experience? You'll find both here at South Winchester BBQ. I was in the mood for a good barbecue sandwich and found myself at South Winchester BBQ. The sun shone high, the breezes blew gently, and it was busy with lunch goers that day. I ordered the tri-tip sandwich with a side of coleslaw and got myself a glass of water. Then I went outside to the patio where families and friends ate their lunches while their dogs looked on. The patio was sheltered from the street and provided a quiet place for community to gather over good food and drink. It would be a wonderful spot to enjoy my meal. My name was called, and I went to get my sandwich. The first bite was excellent! Juicy meat slices accented with the robust, savory, light sweet notes of smoked California oak wood. Fresh buns buttered and lightly toasted on the flats. Brought together as a well-done sandwich, every bite was savory meat and spiced rub, sweet barbecue sauce, and light crunch of toasted bread. The coleslaw was finely chopped cabbage tossed in a creamy, mildly sweet dressing, with a dusting of cracked black peppercorn on top. A welcome refreshing side to my tri-tip sandwich, the coleslaw cleansed the palate and balanced out my rich meal. The tri-tip sandwich and coleslaw sure paired up to pack a delicious punch. South Winchester BBQ was a definite win in my books. Next time I want a good barbecue sandwich, I'll come back for more. I know I'll be in for a delightful time!

Each day of the week they have a different special they serve. For the oxtail plate they always have it. The oxtail plate came with oxtail, beans + rice, and plantains. There is a good amount of oxtail for the price and portion size. The meat was very tender, fall of the bone and flavorful. I have had this from Back A Yard before and it never fails, the flavors are always consistent for the oxtail. The Escovitch Fish came with fried fish, fried bread, beans + rice and plantains. It also came with a pickled vegetable sauce. The sauce was not too sour or spicy. The fried fish was fried nicely, the fried bread was a nice addition had a slight sweetness. To cut the heaviness of the fried bread and fish, the pickled vegetable sauce is essential. The beans and rice are flavorful, and plantains were cooked nicely. Overall, this is a nice place to get some Caribbean food, and I'll come back to try their Chicken Curry specials that they serve on Tuesdays and get the oxtail plate again.

I would assume this would be pretty lively when its more prime hours for eating but it was nice and quiet when I came. The Food: I got the oxtail with the goat curry, and it came with beans and rice and plantains. The oxtail was super tender, and falls off the bone with no effort, and the sauce it comes in is very flavorful and filled with spices. I really liked the food, and it had a subtle sweet with its seasonings. The goat curry is subtly spicy, with a hearty goat and meaty flavor. I enjoyed the goat curry over the oxtail as it was more flavorful and I liked the spice on curried goat. The rice and beans have great flavor and the plantains are tender and slightly sweet. Overall: I would come back again if I am craving Caribbean food. The food value is good and gives a great heaping serving. I don't know if I would come if I am not craving Caribbean food, but I would tell someone to give it a try if it is what they are eyeing.
