Ordered: Lovers Sampler Plate - the only item that stood out on this plate was the fried chicken, everything else was ehh and just an afterthought. Lovers Special Noodle Soup - I enjoyed the variety of different meats in this dish. It had sliced steak, beef balls, and oxtail which were all tender. However, the broth kind of lacked flavor. Shaken Beef Garlic Noodles - definitely a top favorite! They don't skimp out on the beef pieces which is a plus. The shaken beef is nice and tender and nicely seasoned along with the noodles and veggies. They even have extra sauce on the side to add if you like your noods extra saucy. Grilled Pork, Grilled Shrimp, Egg Rolls & Salad with Vermicilli - very fulfilling and I enjoyed the ratio of meats to noodles. The pork is tender and they gave a good mix of lean/fatty pieces which I enjoyed. Service is great and I have no complaints. There are a ton of tables/booths to sit at. The sauce is nice, pretty strong. There was a little salad with pickled carrot slices. I liked that part of the rice had a crispy shell. There was a decent amount of lemongrass flavor and I didn't find it too spicy, so I liked it overall and thought it was a solid vegetarian option. The menu has vegetarian options and quite a large selection to choose from in general. The tables were clean, and our server was quick to take our order, but she mostly left us along for far too long after delivering our food and my party decided to head to the register ask for more utensils, and to pay, since she never came back. I got a passion fruit drink, which was very fresh and I loved the seeds included in it. The beef combo was not as hot as I would have liked when it arrived, and a tad bland. But that's what all the condiments and toppings are for, right? My friend got a chicken dish and egg noodles, which they enjoyed. I had a large #17 Pho with sliced steak, brisket, flank, tendon, tripe, and noodles. The broth was lacking flavor. The sriracha was so watered down that it ruined the soup when I used it. The garnishment plate came with very little. needed more basil, bean sprouts, I felt there was enough jalapenos and lemon wedges. I came to Pho Lovers for lunch the other day, and I'm so glad I did. The place has that cozy, no-frills feel clean, comfortable, and always smells amazing when you walk in. I ordered the Pho Lovers Special with rare steak, beef balls, and oxtail, and it was so good. The broth was super flavorful and comforting you can tell it's been simmering for hours. The oxtail was fall-off-the-bone tender, and the noodles were perfectly cooked. I also got some spring rolls, which were fresh and light with a nice peanut dipping sauce. Parking's pretty easy since it's in a plaza, but it can fill up around lunchtime, so maybe avoid the peak rush if you can. Overall, this spot totally hits the spot when I'm craving pho. The waitress seemed visibly upset that we walked in and immediately told us they close at 8:30, as if we were already inconveniencing her. When I politely asked whether that meant we needed to leave before 8:30, she responded by saying we had "5 more minutes". So 8:35 pm? If the staff is done working for the night before closing time, just update your hours instead of making customers feel unwelcome for simply showing up during business hours. Sadly, I have to give this place a low rating. This restaurant is very close to our home and used to be one of my favorites. I can't have too many carbs, so I asked for half the noodles and to substitute the rest with bean sprouts. However, I was charged $3.00 for a small plate of bean sprouts. I have never experienced this at any other restaurant. I feel like I either have to eat the noodles or pay extra just for a few pieces of bean sprouts, which is frustrating and unpleasant. Probably my favorite Vietnamese restaurant in Sunnyvale! The restaurant has a hole in the wall vibe, but indoors the decor is very nice and feels welcoming. The food is excellent, and we have been especially impressed with the spicy noodle soup and lemongrass tofu, but the regular pho and spring rolls are also great. The staff are also flexible with modifications to dishes as needed. The drinks menu is also varied, with not just iced coffee (which is delicious here), but many nice fruit juice options as well. The only minor complaints I have are that the service has often been pretty slow, where we had long waits before our food arrived, even when there weren't many other customers, and that parking can be somewhat tough since the lot is small and shared with the adjacent grocery store. read more

we ate there about a week ago. We had a group of 10-12 people. Everyone liked their food and if I rated just on the food I'd give them a 4 or maybe even a 5. For me though, the experience was soured when it came time to pay. First they tack on an automatic 20% tip. I think a default tip of 20% is excessive, especially since prices for everything has already gone up a lot. Next was the fact that they wouldn't split the bill (even if we included the excessive tip). And then the kicker, if you want to use a credit card it's another 3.5%. I understand small businesses wanting to deal with the cost of credit cards but the max I've ever seen, until now, is 3%. Needless to say, we won't be going there as a group any more. The quality of the food doesn't compensate for trying to add nearly 25% on top of the bill. read more

The broth was well made, the meats and noodle ratios were on point, the garnishes fed well into the soup. It was just an overall, excellent bowl of pho. We also added an appetizer, good, and spring rolls, also good. Service was very nice and attentive. You pay up front. Using a credit card will incur a 3.5% charge. The Bay Area has no shortage of yummy pho places, and this happens to be my favorite! I always prefer egg noodle over rice noodle, which this place offers. We also love their fried lemongrass tofu. When I'm not feeling soup, I usually order that with a side of rice. Although tucked away in an unassuming spot, the interior is spacious, clean and homey. It shares a parking lot with a neighboring market though, so parking can be a challenge sometimes. Service is great when it's not busy... but when it is, it can be a little slow, which is expected. The side broth has a whole piece of beef with bone, extremely tender; and flavorful with the aromatics from the green onions. Small comes with some pieces/ground of pork, a shrimp, few slices of imitation crab, and couple fish balls. The fried shallots were a nice touch! It's been ages since I had a good bowl of pho and the one here finally broke my streak of bad pho experiences. Got the pho ga, the broth was deep flavored, chicken and noodles were perfectly cooked, most places tend to overcook chicken breast so props to them for getting this right. There were tiny bits of fried onion in the soup, they were amazing and they should have more of it. This was just what I needed to warm me up on this extra cold winter night. The pho was light as well and helped my tummy recover from a bad lunch experience earlier in the day. We also got the chicken with vermicelli. The pickled radish and carrots with roasted peanuts provided a nice tart kick to the other elements. The chicken was again perfectly cooked and very flavorful. It came with a sauce on the side but it had a very strong flavor of fish sauce and had to be used sparingly. Service is mediocre, our waitress was unable to recommend a dish and seemed to be in a hurry to get our order. We were not served water as well.
