We came around lunch time. It was a little busy, but we were seated immediately. We ordered a house special (P1) and a rare steak, flank, brisket, beef ball (P6). Note that the "normal" bowls are sized large, and the house special is an extra large. Everything came out pretty quickly. The broth comes out piping hot, so the noodles cook nicely. The broth and the noodles were okay, but not spectacular. The meat was also fine. The star of the show is the beef rib in the house special - it's a massive hunk of meat that's incredibly tender. Not impressed at all with this new Vietnamese place. We came on a Saturday and the place not even that busy. No one greeted us just an annoyed staff who kept staring at my husband and I was the one who asked for table for four. We ordered the ribs pho, chicken pho, and rice dish. Food was below par to be honest. We always go to Vietnam town for our Vietnamese food cravings, however we were at the other side of SJ was thinking just to get a fast Viet food nearby. Our ordered of soda didn't come and I had to literally ask to cancel at the register otherwise I had to pay for it. Second, I'm just going to keep thinking maybe the staff is having a rough day and he is just not giving his best attitude, we kept asking for a proper knife or scissors to cut the ribs but he just went away serving other customers. And guess what, when new customers came the staff was greeting nicely asking how many ppl and directed them to table. Food was mediocre. The pho broth felt like mixture of msg, sugar and salt barely tasted the chicken. When food mediocre like this, I would still come back to get a takeout if the customer service is good. Our friends recommended this place because they were impressed with their house special pho with a big rib bone, so viola, we are here to give it a try. Upon entering, we were pleasantly surprised that the decoration is modern and comfortable with big chandeliers hanging down on green and white tile checkered walls. The overall ambiance is relaxing and peaceful, not those sticky table slippery floor kind of "authentic" hole in a wall setup. We tried the spring roll which is just normal, nothing to write home about. The #1 house special pho which indeed came with a big rib with bone in the bowl. The meat was soft and almost fell off the bone immediately. It also has tendon which gives a good bite but not the super jellied kind. The broth was on the sweet side and I like the balance of herbs and meat flavors. I also ordered the dried mix noodle (N#5) that comes with squid, shrimp, roes and BBQ pork and a bowl of soup. The flavor is also rich and I couldn't finish it due to the rich flavors. The clear soup itself is good enough to saturate my mouth with all the flavors. Service is ok. We came in a group of 7 and we talked to all 3 staff members there trying to get us a table, it seems they don't communicate much among themselves as they were trying to figure out how to place us. I'm grateful to have a great choice near the hospital if I'm craving some BBH. The BBH had the right amount of noodles and meat. I was in the area for work and needed to grab a quick lunch, and decided to try out Pho Anh for the first time. I just had a bowl of pho the day prior so I decided to try out their combo rice plate. The plate was loaded with grilled pork, a couple of shrimp, chicken wing, egg roll, veggies, rice and a side of their pho broth. This was plenty of food for a single meal, the only left was some rice. Out of all the meats, I thought the grilled pork was the best of the bunch. The shrimp was good once I dunked it in their nuoc cham, which honestly went good with everything. Egg roll was pretty standard but the chicken wing was cold. It's definitely not an inexpensive meal, I think $26 for just the rice plate, tax, and tip. Either way, it was a quality meal that I'd eat again. The restaurant itself is compact, great for small groups up to 4. It's located in a shopping center, so plenty of parking was available. Definitely would come back to try their pho. I'm baaaack with another Yelp review. Today's mission: pho. We ordered three dishes: beef pho (P5), mango salad, and the dry noodle combo (N1). Let's get into it. Beef Pho (P5): Solid, no drama. They advertise no MSG in the broth, and honestly, it tasted pretty clean--light, not overly salty, and easy to sip. The lineup included steak, flank, meatballs, and tendon. Nothing screamed premium, but nothing felt cheap either--just comfortably in the middle. The standout was actually the tendon--super soft, not chewy like it sometimes is, so props for that. That said... the noodles? Overcooked and a bit mushy. Noticeably noodle-heavy, with an imbalanced protein ratio. Mango Salad: This one surprised me. Sweet and refreshing. You've got basil, fried onions, shrimp, quail eggs, and a sweet sauce all hanging out together. It somehow works. The mango itself wasn't super bold, probably because it's sharing the spotlight with everyone else, but overall it's a fun dish and worth trying. Special Combo Noodle Soup (N1): My fiancée ordered this, and her verdict was... meh. The noodles themselves didn't bring much flavor, so she ended up relying on the proteins for taste. Portion-wise, again, lots of noodles (seeing a pattern here), but at least the protein ratio was better than the pho. Service was good though the kid didn't understand my customization so it seems like he may be a temp or part timer. I ordered the beef stew noodle. First thing I noticed was the soup was too sweet. Then normally, the tomatoes soup base would be much redder with more tomatoes wish it doesn't. The beef stew was sizable but because it was chunky and all meat with only the fat on top, it was too dry. I think it's the wrong kind of stew which should have some tendon and fats between the meat. I ended up didn't even finish the meat cause it wasn't delectable. Then after I got home, I was extremely thirsty so I figure the sweetness is not just sugar and may be also MSG. read more

First off the bright lights and clean dining area was relaxing. Secondly, the service was prompt, courteous, and just right. Third, the food was delicious. We got two types of garden rolls. Stopped in here for lunch today - we were in the shopping center already and looking for Vietnamese and this one was right there! We stopped in a little before 12pm on a Sunday and it was pretty empty but it quickly filled up! I got the grilled pork and egg roll vermicelli and my partner got the grilled beef and fried egg over rice. Both were delicious! Vermicelli was a full bowl with flavorful charred pork, lettuce, cucumber, and of course fish sauce on the side. It comes with one small egg roll. The rice platter was good too - not a huge portion of beef but really yummy and egg was perfectly cooked with a runny center. Previously housed a boba place that sold some Vietnamese inspired snacks but now is remodeled into a full service restaurant with a menu focusing on pho as well as other soup noodle dishes included Bun Bo Hue and Hu Tieu. I wanted to sample a pho order for my pho quest but was intrigued by the Hu Tieu Nam Vang as there are almost no places that serve that dish on the Peninsula. A simple dry version came a few minutes later with a solid list of quality ingredients including quail egg, cooked shrimp, delicious pork slices and a tasty Nam Vang sauce. I mixed thoroughly with the accompanying bean sprouts and cilantro and added the broth. Reminded me of a home cooked version with great flavors and a definite plus for the Peninsula. You'll have to go to Little Saigon for versions to match. Hu Tieu Nam Vang (dry) ~ $17.95 On Wednesday, they serve Hainan chicken rice as a special. Substantial bowl of pho. I came here because they have a combo of flank, brisket, and tendon, which are exactly what I want in a bowl of pho. The meat was very fine, but unfortunately the tendon, which was by far the greatest in quantity, was in big awkward pieces, much tougher and chewier than the tendon I've had in pho elsewhere, and perhaps even a little undercooked. I should preface my review by saying being Vietnamese I'm a very tough critic of Vietnamese food. I was in MV and craving Bun Bo Hue but didn't want to drive all the way down to San Jose so I found this place on Yelp. I ordered 1 spring roll (I was dining solo so just wanted little appetizer instead of full order) and , of course, the BBH. Service was prompt and courteous. The BBH actually came out before the goi cuon (spring roll). So, the positives with the BBH was large portion, meats were tender and tasty and good variety and ratio of meat to noodles was solid, and overall very tasty bowl of BBH. Now, the nitpicks for the purists, it lacked what makes BBH unique - the strong lemongrass flavor profile. It was too light on two key components- lemongrass and shrimp paste. Also for the purists, it doesn't come with pork blood, which I'm not a fan so I usually opt out anyways but if that's your jam. Also, could have been spicier but I just added the chili saté condiment. As for the spring roll, too much vermicelli and not enough greens, could have put in some cucumber and more lettuce over the vermicelli and missing herbs like mint and cilantro. The peanut sauce was good, elevated by some crispy sautéed shallots. Prices are higher than typical Viet restaurant but unsurprising for the MV location. Overall, good dining experience and I'd come back and try other things on the menu. read more
