This place is one of our go-to Thai spots, and probably our favorite in the neighborhood! + Their noodles and stir frys are always very tasty. Whoever is the chef back there really loves garlic (as do I!!) + On most days there's not too much of a crowd + Servers are all friendly and quick to take orders + Good menu variety + Indoor and outdoor seating, the latter of which is nice for warm nights = Prices are pretty fair - Parking is sometimes a little tight, but not in their control All in all, a really solid neighborhood spot! read more

We ordered the curry puffs, crab fried rice, Panang braised beef, and a Thai iced tea. The curry puffs were probably the biggest letdown. They were pretty one-note in flavor and felt underwhelming. The crab fried rice and Panang braised beef were both enjoyable, but neither dish was particularly memorable or something I'd go out of my way to order again. The braised beef itself was tender, but it was served in large chunks that didn't make for the most appetizing presentation. The Thai iced tea was also noticeably sweeter than what I'm used to, which may work for some people but wasn't my preference. One thing that stood out for the wrong reason was the pacing of the meal. Our crab fried rice arrived first, followed by the curry puffs, and then the Panang beef came out last. The timing felt disjointed, especially since you'd expect the appetizers to arrive before the entrées. The biggest issue, though, is the value. The prices are on the higher end for Thai food, and when the overall experience is just average, it's hard to justify the cost. Nothing was bad, but nothing really stood out either. Overall, it was an okay meal, but with so many great Thai restaurants around, I don't see myself coming back. read more

This place is definitely worth a visit if you're after solid Thai food. We ordered the Pad See Ew with chicken and the Pad Thai. Both were excellent. The noodles had that nice wok-char flavor, the chicken was tender, and I appreciated that neither dish was overly sweet. It's refreshing to find a Thai restaurant that lets the savory flavors shine instead of drowning everything in sugar. The only hiccup was the timing. The Pad See Ew came out first, and by the time the Pad Thai showed up--almost 20 minutes later--we had nearly finished the first dish. We asked about it, but it didn't really seem like anyone followed up. It wasn't the end of the world, but eating together is part of the experience. Now, dessert... don't leave without ordering it. We had both the mango sticky rice and the durian sticky rice, and they were fantastic. The fruit was perfectly ripe, and they were surprisingly generous with it. Too many places give you a mountain of rice and a few slices of fruit. Here, the fruit-to-rice ratio was spot on, and the sticky rice itself was rich without being overly sweet. I'd happily come back because the food is that good. Hopefully next time the kitchen syncs up the entrées a little better. If they do, this is an easy 5-star restaurant. read more

Minus 1 star because they started clean up at 8pm Yay that they wash their floors daily. But not good for atmosphere & smell of cleanser. Food generous portions. Great presentation & mix of papaya salad. It perhaps too much fish sauce but I liked it. The pad see ew was more spicy than I like. I asked for not spicy soup & assumed they would do same for pad see ew Lots of mushrooms in tom yum. Fast. Good service. Plastic Water cups. Very cool fake flower arrangements on ceiling! & per table. read more

I went here with some friends for a dinner around 8pm - not too busy but also because they close on the earlier side so we were one of the last seatings. We got the Penang braised beef, pad see ew, pad ka pow, Thai hot pot, and mango sticky rice. The Penang braised beef is basically like the Penang curry - very rich, well spiced, and the beef is tender. My favorite dish here. Pad see ew is good but fairly standard - pricing is pretty high for a dish like this - $20+ for a noodle dish. The pad ka pow is good - something I normally wouldn't get, in favor of curry, but it was great for sharing and open up my horizons beyond my typical order. Thai hot pot for $35 was really disappointing - there is good amount of beef but they do not do a good job with the meat cuts and it is easy to overcook due to the constant fire inside cooking up the soup. Mango sticky rice is good - mangoes were sweet and fresh, but the rice was on the undercooked side. Service is good as water refills were present and they brought the dishes in a timely manner. Overall, decent Thai food, but coming from Seattle, this did not wow me the same way as my friends do who live around this area. read more

The tom kha soup didn't look very appetizing but it was bursting with flavor. Tons of different types of mushrooms all up in there and the pork was good too. I loved the coconut milk broth. The portion was a good size too. The pad kee mow was still a bit spicy even though we ordered it mild. The flat noodles were so bouncy with the perfect amount of chew. Good serving of veggies too. Some of the shrimp seemed undercooked. Kow ka pow with chicken was ok. Also ordered mild, it still had a kick to it. Service was ok. My friend told them she thought the shrimp was undercooked and the server said they parboil it before they sauté it but he would pass the feedback onto the chef and returned to offer 10% off that dish. I'd come back for the soup! read more

This place was really solid. I think especially for the prices, the portions were really good. The wok hei flavor was nice and the pad thai had the nice flavor of fish sauce without it being overpowering. I think i would come back again read more

Last time we ordered takeout from Khao Kang Thai Kitchen, I had a lot to say. First, I'd like to acknowledge that this place has let us down quite a few times. I usually skip writing reviews for places that disappoint me for the first time but after a series of letdowns, I felt compelled to share my opinion. We ordered a variety of dishes all spicy level of heat, including the Panang Braised Beef, Crispy Dragon Ball, Tom Kha Chicken and Shrimp (which came with an extra charge), Beef Pad Kew Mao, and the yellow curry (which was out of stock, which was odd since we ordered our food on a Friday around 6:30 pm). The Tom Kha soup was by far the worst dish we had. It tasted like watered-down coconut water, with the proteins and mushrooms just thrown in. The broth lacked depth and was broken, as seen in the pictures. I was so disappointed that I almost drove back to the restaurant to ask for a refund, but my fiancée didn't want me to seem cheap for doing so. The Crispy Dragon Ball "Salad" was another disappointment. It had no greens other than the cilantro that came with it, so I ended up taking some out and adding it to the Tom Kha soup to try to add some depth and flavor to the broth. The flavor of the dish was great, but they should clearly label it as a warm salad without greens or dressing. The Panang Braised Beef had a bland curry flavor, but the meat was very tender and fell apart easily. Pad Kee Mao, recall the beginning of the review where I mentioned we ordered everything spicy level heat. This dish, however, was utterly inedible. How could you possibly make it so spicy that the noodles would instantly burn your tongue and teeth? I shed a few tears trying to eat it, not wanting to waste my money. The result was a very bland, uninspired Thai taste that lingered in my mouth. The next day, we decided to order Thai food again, but this time from Shana Thai, another Thai restaurant off Moffet Blvd. They never disappoint. The ambiance was average, typical of a regular-sized restaurant. Did not take photos of the curry because it's just a red curry nothing special and the Pad Kee Mao I was just done with the whole experience, basically resigned to the fact that we had wasted our money on shitty over pieced Thai food. read more

Not your standard hum drum thai restaurant. While Khao Kang has the classic Thai restaurant ambiance and decor, the food can definitely throw some twists, starting with the crispy pork and roast pork rice plate that resembles more of Cantonese style cooking. Then add the curry options which really just feature green and variants of red curry, feels limited without Penang. Lastly, the pad see eww was different from what I'm used to. Overall, we enjoyed it. Food was good, albeit different. Service was very friendly and nice. Parking in the private parking lot--but so many designated "15-min", making me think if they actually enforce it. read more

Food is good. Thai with Chinese fusion. I liked the dessert during sticky rice. Hospitality is really bad. It feels like we are unwelcome. Even after appreciating the dessert is good, she just says "ok" without looking. Worst hospitality. 0 for hospitality read more

We've been ordering delivery from here a few times, which have always been pretty tasty! We decided to come in person. We came around dinnertime, but we were quickly seated. The staff were quite friendly. We ordered the pad kee mow with crispy pork, pad see ew with chicken, and the crab fried rice. The pad kee mow was decent. I had asked for medium spicy, but it wasn't too hot. The noodles have an amazing bite to them. The crispy pork is incredibly juicy and, as the name calls for, crispy! Definitely recommend choosing that as your protein. The pad see ew is our typical delivery order. Similarly, the noodles are very springy. It's always seasoned so well; just the perfect level of sweet and salty. Are you telling me a crab fried this rice? In all honesty - maybe, since it took quite a while to come out. We had imagined that it would come out first, but it came out after we had finished our noodle dishes. It was okay; it was a little on the blander side and was a little mushy. Our other friends had ordered a few other dishes. After some around-the-table sampling, they stared longingly at our noodles the rest of the meal. Don't miss out on the pad see ew! read more

A local favorite we keep coming back to! The beautiful interior and friendly staff make it such a welcoming place to catch up with people you love. I went here with my friend group, coming out to 10 people in total. Because of our large group, we made reservations in advance to secure our seating. We arrived close to 8pm. It's good to note that they close at 9pm every night and that their kitchen closes at 8:30pm. I ordered the Red Curry with chicken and mild spice. I also ordered a side of jasmine rice as the curry is not normally accompanied by any other sides. You get a good serving of both the curry and rice to make for more than a satisfying meal. The ratio of curry to rice is also pretty good. Their menu is fairly diverse and is sure to cater to different cravings. The service was really quick as the food came out in a timely manner for everyone. There's lots of parking outside in the plaza and it wasn't really busy inside or outside despite it being a night on the weekend. read more

Might not look like a lot of food, but it is! Decided to try a new thai spot out and discovered this place. On the table as a side dish they have this pickled jalapeno? So good, plus they make it in house. Our server was quick to get our order in. Inside is pretty spacious compared to the outside. On all of our food we ordered medium spicy, but it wasn't spicy at all. The Papaya salad thai style tasted bland in my personal opinion and they use whole tomatoes instead of cherry tomatoes. The Pad See Ew with chicken was really good though. It didn't taste too oily and the texture of the noodles were perfect. The Har Mok Salmon was super good. That coconut milk really pops out and that curry taste isn't over powering. Plus the fish is still pretty juicy. It seems like a lot of people order online here too! Overall this place is good but, I would say the papaya salad is subpar. read more

I've been on the hunt for a go-to Thai spot in Mountain View, and this place might just be it! I came by around 6:30 PM on a Friday and was pleasantly surprised there was no wait. That said, the service was a bit slow as only two servers were managing the entire restaurant. The menu is extensive, with lots of dishes to choose from. I tried pineapple curry for the first time - while it wasn't as spicy as I expected (even at the 'hot' level), I still really enjoyed it! I'll be back to try more of their menu. read more

Flavor (3/5): Their Tom Kha soup is really sour but hits the spot if you're looking for something with a kick. I really liked having a fish option with it I felt like it paired well in being light together. The padang curry was decent, you have to order a side of rice to go with it. I wouldn't order the beef with it because majority is tendon that you can't chew. The pad thai was a bit disappointing in terms of the protein was too fatty and it wasn't flavorful enough. Instagram Worthy (4/5): Food looks really pretty when it comes out! The restaurant is also decorated quite well on the inside. Service (3/5): They have outdoor seating and they have heat lamps but they don't work or at least the workers claim they can't turn them on. Service is a bit slow when you sit outside, we waited a while for food and no one checked up on us. Even to pay the bill we just went inside to pay. Takeaways: Expensive thai food for what it is, decent portions but I've for sure had better. $20+ for a dish you want it to be great! read more

Had the red pineapple curry with chicken, Khao Moo Krob (crispy pork), Pad See Ew, Chicken Satay, Thai fried rice with pork and crab rangoon. They don't serve yellow curry. They have a choice of Red Curry dishes which is pretty much the same curry sauce but with different vegetable ingredients. Spice level from medium to more spicy. Choice of protein from chicken, pork, crispy pork, shrimp. Got the pineapple curry with chicken . Good curry flavor but mild on the curry taste. Didn't have enough chicken. The curry flavor almost disappears when poured over the rice. The Thai fried rice was good. It had the smoky flavor that's a signature taste of having cooked in a wok or wok hei. Had good proportion of rice to meat ratio. Green curry was another choice. The Khao Moo Krob and Moo Dang was described as having crispy pork and BBQ red pork. The crispy pork was good. Basically fried pork belly slices. The BBQ pork was just 4 small pieces of Chinese sausage called Lap Cheong. I've had this dish elsewhere and they usually have the sweet BBQ cha shu pork. Steamed rice was included with two dipping sauces. Pad See Ew was good. Each noodle was coated with the sauce. Had milder flavor of sweet and soy sauce. The greens they added gave it an additional flavor of very slight bitternes. Different but interesting. Noodles were not soggy. The crab rangoon and chicken Satay were good. Satay had a good portion with 4 skewers of good size chicken pieces. Good peanut dip. The rangoon had a really nice presentation. Crispy wrappers that are not too oily. Good amount of filling, mostly tasted the cream cheese. Was accompanied by sweet chili sauce. Reasonable price for the Fried Rice and Noodle dishes. Walked in around 1pm on a Saturday and waited less than 10 min to get seated. Staff were nice. Food came out pretty quickly. read more

I didn't snap any photos because I was too busy eating here, a second time. Took my folks who live in MV who have been going to the same Thai restaurant for decades. I found this place on Yelp and this is their new go to. Got to town tonight and they immediately said Khao Kang! The best Beef panang ever, can't find a better one. Had the crispy rice larb salad, my new favorite Thai dish. Dad had the Tom Yum with seafood. Looked like he was in an aquarium! Wife goes spicy fried rice with crispy pork. I know it's good because it's never offered across the table. Mom is a pad Thai Queen and nibbled on it for days. Love the service, the smiles and the fast delivery. Food (5/5) I've enjoyed all the food I've had here! I've tried the Pad See Ew, Crab Fried Rice, Eggplant, Veggie Samosa. They give very generous portion sizes and the food is always hot off the stove. Small caveat - the samosas were cold when we got them originally, though they of course graciously exchanged them. Price (4/5) Price is definitely on par or higher for your typical Thai food meal. Entrees will be $20 and up. Wait Time (4/5) Definitely varies, I've been here on weekday evenings and had to wait no time, and another time had to wait over 30mins. Service (4/5) Good service, it can be hard to get their attention since it gets busy and there aren't many servers. Ambiance (5/5) Good ambiance inside, good decorations. No issues! Parking/Access (5/5) Located in a strip mall in MV, there's usually parking available since the other businesses are closed by the time it's dinnertime. Can't speak for lunch time business. Would be back! But I may try some other Thai restaurants in the area first :) read more

Had a really lovely dinner here with a friend and can't speak highly enough of this place! I went here after finding it on Yelp - a restaurant that's never been on my radar for Thai food but was absolutely delicious. We got here around 6:30ish and thankfully we were seated quickly and got fast, reliable service. For food we ordered: * steamed fish in the coconut curry - I forgot the name but this is a popular dish here and is absolutely delicious. The fish is extremely soft, flakey and flavorful while the curry goes so well with rice * beans with pork belly - this was one of the entrees and I don't remember the exact name but SO good! If you love crispy pork belly this was amazing... we were so full but kept eating bc it was that good Overall, both dishes we ordered were fantastic. I would go back to get both again! read more

We made a reservation for a Saturday lunch and we were excited to try them out since they had a lot of great reviews on Yelp! Glad we made a reservation because when we showed up to the plaza, there was barely any parking. Luckily we just followed people who were leaving and we were able to take their spot. The spots did seem a little small though. When we go to the restaurant and let them know we had a reservation, for some reason we still had to wait a little bit. It wasn't too long, but I feel like if you have a reservation and you're on time for your reservation, you should be seated right away. I've always understood that's why reservations are made; to avoid a wait. We finally got to sit down and took a look at the menu. One thing that was a little odd was that they didn't have any yellow curry, which was odd because they had a dish that had yellow curry and their roti came with yellow curry, but they didn't have a yellow curry dish. We ordered so many things, but honestly only 2 things really stuck out: The Crab Rangoon and Pad See Ew. Both were great! In total, we ordered 6 dishes but these 2 were my favorite. The only downside was that the portions for all the dishes were on the smaller side, which is understandable since they're in Mountain View. The food was good, but portions were small. So far our family hasn't decided to come back here, but I would still recommend it. read more

Food is yummy here - they're just a bit understaffed. This place has great Thai food - it's got that wok smoke flavor and can get spicy if you ask for it. I love getting the pad see ew here. Recently though they were too busy and understaffed for the day -- wait time for a noodle plate was 30 ish min once seated which was wild. Ended up getting a pad kra pao which was so yummy. All the workers are really nice and I'm excited to come back when they're less busy+understaffed for the day. read more

Pretty bland flavors. Better than many other Thai places in bay area surely, but I can count quite a few better places. I'm convinced that this is some of the best Thai food in the Bay Area!!! I eat Pad See Ew an ungodly amount of times a year, and the noodles here are just perfect. Great texture, well seasoned, and the crispy pork belly was TO DIE FOR. Not too oily too! If I lived closer to this place, I'd eat this every week. The Hor Mok Pla was the real deal. This is a comforting dish that my mom would cook for me growing up. The curry is a soupy consistency and is reminiscent of a panang curry. Very sweet, creamy, and a little spicy! The fish was tender and absorbed a lot of flavor. Great dish! A must try. read more

Came here to celebrate a friend's birthday on a weeknight and there was a line! We had to wait for 15-20 mins but got in relatively timely. Service felt a felt rushed but also realized they probably were just eager for us to order. We ordered: 1) Papaya Salad (Veg) - too spicy for my liking but a little sweet and savory; really good flavours otherwise 2) Pad Thai (Veg) - I liked that it's not drenched in sauce and the flavor felt authentic. 3) Khao Soi (Veg) - our favourite overall. Coconutty and creamy. The tofu was crispy and came out hot. Got a little kick to it but not bad! 4) Spicy Pork with Eggplants - the eggplants were the Thai ones (little green ones with many small seeds) and not the regular eggplants! We didn't love the crispy pork (felt that it was a little tough) but the sauce was very tasty. Place was small but filled out quickly. Would come back to try out other dishes next time! read more

The food is good, but is a little slow to serve the dishes even when not much people in the restaurant.

The food was really good! Felt a little heavy, but that might be because of the quantity that I ate rather than the food itself. Pad see ew: 6.5/10. Great flavor, big portion size but chicken was a little dry. Green curry with Tofu: 8.5/10. Creamy but with an awesome bite that makes your nose run a little but doesn't overpower the flavor of the dish with heat. Packed with veggies (I loved the corn and eggplant). Veggie samosa: 9/10. Could have been perfect, but the inside wasn't warm. Still ordering it again next time I go! The woman who was taking care of everyone seated (about six full tables) was kind and welcomed us to come back which I appreciated. The parking was a little tough even on a Wednesday at 1 PM. All in all, it was really enjoyable and I'll definitely be coming back with my buddies! read more

Sucks to give this review but when it's true it's true. Food is actually pretty good, why the three stars is simply based on getting to eat the food. The waits here are way too insane. I ordered simple fried rice to go over the phone. 30 mins. Ok I understand but when I get there in 30mins add another 15mins. Like wtf? You had two groups in entire Resturant.
