It was SO DELICIOUS and exactly what I was looking for during this heat wave. The meat was juicy and flavorful, and there was plenty of it. This place is easy to miss when you're unfamiliar with the area. It's tucked in this tiny corner with a few other businesses that share a very small parking lot that doesn't look like there are enough spaces for everyone during lunch rush. I was fortunate to find one available parking spot because it was at the later end of lunchtime. The parking spots are a bit tight and there isn't much room to maneuver. The sign on the door says "no public restrooms". I always wonder if that means no restrooms for non-customers walking in , or whether that meant no restrooms at all even for paying customers. I found the inside of the restaurant to be dimly lit after walking through the front door. Maybe it is partly due to the sudden transition from sunny bright outdoors, but the it could definitely be more bright inside. There is some booth seating, some regular table seating, plus a long high top table. A TV is mounted near the front door showing video menu, cycling through different dishes There are also photos of menu items on the wall. I like visual menus like this as it helps me picture what I'm getting. I got the combination pho, my usual at most pho restaurants. The broth was good, not too oily. I thought they added a good amount of meat to the bowl, unlike some other places that skimp on this. I was eating the remaining noodles at the end of the bowl and still fishing out pieces of beef! I only had the beef ball pho so my review is only based on that but I was surprised to see bun bo hue, bo kho and banh xeo on the menu. I'll definitely be back to try those. The pricing is typical for los altos/mountain view area. A business needs to make a living. But the portions were surprisingly tremendous. I got the regular size and I honestly felt like it was an extra large. The amount of noodles and meatballs I got were insane. Regretfully I couldn't finish all of it but I have no complaints about the broth as far as its authenticity. The meat ball is a bit different than what I'm used to at typical pho restaurants. This one was bigger and thicker but it's not far behind in quality/flavor, it was fine. I just moved to the area so glad to learn there's an authentic pho restaurant near by! Pho Avenue is tucked in a quiet corner in Mountain View. There is very limited parking space and it looked really dark inside. I thought it was closed. Entering in, there is a pleasant selection of jazz music. As people where chatting amongst themselves, a server led us to a middle table where we got to see all of our surroundings. The menu had a good selection of food, and unlike some other pho restaurants my friend and I have gone to, we like the quiet scenery in the evening. One of the dishes I got was vegetarian pho. I think the dish was a little bit salty, but I was amazed to see how big the bowl is. The size was definitely rewarding. The tofu and veggies went well with the broth and I couldn't finish it myself. I think the server kind of woke me up because when she placed the bowls on the table, it sounded a bit of a slam and it shocked me a bit. The tables could be a bit cleaner. There was some spillage of the soup prior to sitting at the table. My friend had enjoyed the pho herself. Been going here for years. Service is always the same. It's solid and OK. Clean tables, utensils, and food. Solid pho in my opinion. It's like how my family makes it. The noodle texture. The broth. The Vietnamese ladies / aunts talking in the back about logistics and running kitchen talk. 10/10 pho for rainy weather. Great location too because san jose is a hassle to get to. Other days it's like a 8/10 pho in my book. Also they always have neutral energy music which let's me enjoy my food. What I mean is song covers or something. But chill. Some restaurants have a chaotic music or too loud. Good place for sitting, take a breather and eat tasty food. Only cons. Restroom is not the best. Also make sure you repeat your order clearly. I am always OK but numerous times other tables have issues due to accents and so on. Swung by here for a lunch before NFC Champ game on sunday. We wanted to try out different vietnamese restaurants close to home to see which can be our emergency vietnamese goto restaurant if we had to get it fast! We ended up ordering a vermicelli noodle (pork with egg roll), beef pho and guess what, more eggrolls! Yummy yummy! The thing I liked most about the restaurant was that the main course was plenty of food. If you read my other reviews, you'll know that I am a quantity over quality type. :) So, it definitely scratched that itch. For my noodle dish, I just poured in all the fish sauce and mixed it all together. The ratio of meat to noodle wasn't too bad even though there was a lot of noodles. I was still able to finish my dish and was satisfied from it. I didn't even have to eat anything until 8pm. My wife, however, wasn't able to finish her bowl of noodles though. The pho bowl looked small but this is one of those "looks can be deceiving" cases. It was packed with a lot of noodles. I am not sure how much meat was in there though but I didn't hear any complaints from her about not having enough meat. :) Usually she very picky about how the broth tastes but in this case she thought is wasn't bad. So, that's a good thing right? So far, we believe this is one of the best places in the area if we wanted to get our fix of vietnamese food. read more

Went for Lunch Food - 3/5. Noodles had a decent bite to them but were a bit clumped together. Broth had a decent beefy flavor to it but lacking in the aromatic department. The rare steak was on the tougher side and almost completely cooked by the time it arrived. Tendons were deliciously tender with a nice, meaty bite to them. There wasn't much rare steak but plenty of tendon, which worked for me as I enjoyed the tendon more. Service - 4/5. Quick service and quick food. Value - 2/5. "Fine" is the best way to describe the pho here. It wasn't bad but didn't really make you crave more either. A regular pho is $15.5 and a large only $1 more, which is standard pricing for pho restaurants in the area. We ordered our typical Vietnamese stand bys: pho#1, pork vermicelli with egg roll, an lid a pork chop rice plate. Overall we were a bit underwhelmed by the food. The pho was salty and didn't have much in it; the portion was also meager considering it was labeled "large" on the receipt (to be fair, it's one size only). Usually #1 is the combination pho but in this menu, all it comes with is rare steak. The pork vermicelli was the best thing we ordered, and the pork in this dish was tender. Oddly, the pork chop was dried out and not flavorful even though you'd think it was the same cut of meat. If we were to come back, I'd get the bun dishes but probably skip the rest. read more
