Only thing that was good in this picture was the sea bass clay pot
Diane M.

My sisters wanted Vietnamese food and decided to try this place since it has good reviews on Yelp. I was disappointed. The calamari was bland. The shaken beef was so tough that we didn't even eat it. The sauce in the tofu mixed vegatable was too sweet. The egg coffee was too strong that it tasted bitter. The only thing that we enjoyed was the sea bass clay pot, but very small portion. Our bill came out to $100... not worth it.

Review is based on take out service. Ordered by phone with friendly service. There's plenty of parking in the shopping center. Looks like they only have indoor seating to dine in with nice decor and with a nice big storefront window.. Pick up was easy and was ready upon my arrival. The broth for the pho was still very hot by the time we arrived to our destination to enjoy our food. I appreciated the extra cling wrap packaged for the spring rolls and peanut sauce so that it wouldn't spill or get messy in the take out container. The avocado spring rolls were fresh though I do agree that the shredded lettuce makes it tend to follow apart quite easily. The dipping peanut sauce is really good not too thick and not too runny thin just the right consistency with good flavor as a complementary spring roll sauce. I thought the lemon grass tofu was rather small and portion, but maybe that could be the container that it was in and it did come with rice. The pho was overall good with lots of great veggies. Overall a satisfying meal.

Claypot rice was yummy. Peanut sauce that came with the spring rolls was great. Prices were reasonable. Pretty good service! It's a neighborhood gem. I will come back try other claypot dishes and the pho!

There I was, hungover and sick looking for something to cure me from a night of drinking. So, my partner and I made our way over to Lequy in Mountain View. We ordered the pho dac biet and the wagyu pho. I thought the pho was solid and definitely hit the spot, but wasn't anything extraordinary either. I think the presentation of the wagyu pho was really neat with the hot bowl of soup and meat on the side. But at the end of the day, it was just a bowl of pho with brisket. I think the pricing is fine, and is very on par with other Vietnamese restaurants in the bay area.

Broth is made from bones- not powder- fresh noodles are an option but I prefer traditional pho noodles with more texture - huge amount of wagyu - clay pot rice hits the spot-but spring rolls not served with mint (boo) and the traditional fish sauce (double boo)

55. Grilled Shrimp & BBQ Pork Vermicelli / Bún Thịt Nướng Tôm Ương
Monica S.

Fresh and quick, if somewhat bland for Vietnamese food. Not bad for the area. I ordered the BBQ Pork and Shrimp Vermicelli. Food was out swiftly. Shrimp was juicy and fresh. However, the meat lacked any char grill flavor -- both the pork and shrimp tasted more lightly boiled than BBQed. Overall, the dish tasted faintly salty and sweet but without complexity. Greens were shredded iceberg, some quick pickles, and a sprig of cilantro. If you love the bold, herbacious, funky flavors of Vietnamese cuisine, the food here may feel muted. However, for this stretch of the Peninsula, it's above average for nearby Vietnamese options.

Came to Lequy after being piqued by the shabu style cook method for pho. I happened to come for a late lunch on a weekday so there was no wait and service was expeditious like at any other pho place. When everything arrived at the table I could already smell the richness of the broth. I took a quick sip and was also pleased that it wasn't too salty! Because the meat was raw though, I did take time to toss in all the noodles and then scoop out some broth into that bowl to preserve its clarity and flavor - I recommend this strategy btw! Overall, I loved that I could cook it exactly to my liking. Moreover, the portion size was generous and the wagyu was so buttery and tender. I would absolutely look to come again when I'm in the area!

This was a solid place for pho. My daughter ordered the round steak pho (only comes in one size) and I ordered the clay pot with grilled shrimp and beef rolls. The food arrived piping hot, we couldn't eat much of it without burning our mouths. Staff was friendly, interior clean. The clay pot was pretty good with the rice having a nice crispy bottom. The shrimp was good too. The beef rolls was okay but loaded with a ton of cabbage inside which I took out. Portion of the bowl itself was on the smaller side. I never finish my food and I was able to so I know it was small lol. Anyways great solid spot for Vietnamese.

Mango smoothie, very creamy. I think it had yogurt in it. Tasted like real mango because it wasn't overly sweet.

Interior was pretty nice. Service was friendly. Food was less than average for Bay Area. Only came here out of convenience. The meat for the Pho didn't look appetizing. The pork vermicelli was basic, but not amazing in taste or quality of meat.

Bahn Mi
Mia W.

bahn mi here was solid flavor, but lacking in amount of meat. pickled veggies in the bahn mi were excellent & it paired nicely with the sauce inside. pho was delicious but again, smaller portion than most bowls of pho in the area. shrimp spring rolls were excellent & paired nicely with the peanut dipping sauce. slightly pricer than other vietnamese restaurants in the bay area, but definitely quality flavors & free ingredients. great service, water refills occurred frequently, food came out fast, staff were very attentive & took orders quickly. lots of booth seating & even a small area directly outside for outdoor seating if desired. overall, excellent vietnamese place in palo algo area. ive been here a few times now & the food & portioning is always consistent.

The service we received was good, they were attentive. That said, I dislike the 4% employer mandates fee that they added. Even though it is stated in the small text in the menu, it is still sketchy. Just add that to the price from the beginning so we know what we expect to pay, instead of adding extra cost at the end, when we receive the bill. Here's what we ordered: - Pandan creme brulee: has good Pandan flavor, but I don't think I actually like creme brulee in general (I prefer Flan) so I can't say about this one. - Siam spice cocktail: good. I'd order again - Clay pot cod: cod was cooked to perfection. Overall, it's good but from a Vietnamese point of view, I think it could be better - Garlic prawn noodles: prawns were good, my family said the noodles were very flavorful. - Tamarine prawns: my favorite. Really delicious, love the crunch from the fried tiny noodles - Shaking beef: not my favorite. It didn't have the flavors I'm looking for from shaking beef. However, my husband still liked it. The meat was very tender. - Blue crab tacos: loved the crunch and the crab flavor - Empress rise: yummy sticky rice - Sunrise in Hanoi cocktail: this looks cool but the flavor is just okay.

I'd recommend the clay pot cod, the tiger prawns & garlic noodles, and the garlic fried rice. The blue crab tacos were highly recommended to us but there was a lot of rice in the taco and the flavor overall did not impress me. The shaking beef was tender and cooked well, but was nothing special. Overall, the portions were very small for the price. The restaurant is nice, the bathrooms are clean, there's plenty of bar seating. The service was underwhelming - our server seemed unhappy to be there and did not crack a single smile the entire night. I probably wouldn't go out of my way to eat here again, but it was nice to finally try this restaurant that has been in my Yelp bookmarks for a few years.

Giant river prawns were the star and everyone's favorite dish. The banh hoi with butter sauce combination was delicious, I would definitely come here again just for that dish. That being said, the other dishes were not worth the price. Total bill was $280 for 3 dishes including tax and 18% tip.

The pate chaud is a little smaller than other locations, but it's good quality and flaky, not too oily. The banh mi dac biet had a soft, yet crispy roll, plenty of cold cuts, and a nice amount of pate spread. The veggies were a little on the lower quantity, but it was fresh. The double spam masubi was warm and delicious, absolutely worth the extra up charge for two slices of spam. The gentleman taking our order was friendly and helpful for new customers. He spoke English and Vietnamese, which is a plus for those wanting to work on their Vietnamese food ordering skills. The restaurant had plenty of free parking, and a few small tables if you decide to eat onsite. Recommend order to go because it's cramped inside. The smell of fresh food to-go definitely helped me order more food than I was intending to - great ambience. Highly recommend if you need a quality banh mi without long waits.

The store has a very homely but familiar atmsophere, which I feel could be divisive but I personally like. Aside from the ordering counter, the entire store is stuffed with a variety of snacks, drinks, and toys. Some of the snacks are familiarly American, but many are Vietnamese snacks/drinks more uncommon here, including fermented meats, honey comb cake, and more. The menu on the wall has a lot of photos, but it also doesn't cover everything you can order here. According to their menu, they primarily serve bahn mis and other sandwiches, but you can order spring rolls. I love their spring rolls, and it's all I really order here. I wouldn't recommend eating in, as it is really cramped, but it's a great spot for quickly picking up some good food to take on the go. They make the food quickly and it tastes really good, so I like to drop by after work to take some food to-go.

But from the looks of the dish, not much meat on the plate. 3.5/5 GRILLED PORK & PORK EGG ROLL VERMICELLI ~ This is my go-to dish when I'm eating Vietnamese. The pork wasn't really salty or as flavorful as I had expected. Pretty average compared to other eateries with the same dish. I forgot to tell them not to include raw bean sprouts, so when I put the sprouts aside, it filled 1/4 of my bowl. 3.5/5 COMBINATION BEEF PHO ~ My guy ordered this and said the broth was bland compared to other Vietnamese eateries. Not much in the bowl. He went home and made a sandwich. 3/5 HALF HAINANESE CHICKEN AND CHICKEN RICE ~ Our friend ordered this dish; he left more than 1/2 of the chicken on his plate. He said it was dry, and the skin wasn't at all crispy because they didn't blanch it in ice water to give that crispy texture for Hainanese Chicken. The rice wasn't flavorful either. He left dissatisfied and hungry. 2/5 PANDAN WAFFLES ~ comp dessert after our meal. This was lightly sweetened, crispy, and chewy. Actually very good. 4/5 Hit or miss with some of the dishes, though it seemed more misses than hits. I was told the San Jose location is better.
