Substantial bowl of pho. I came here because they have a combo of flank, brisket, and tendon, which are exactly what I want in a bowl of pho. The meat was very fine, but unfortunately the tendon, which was by far the greatest in quantity, was in big awkward pieces, much tougher and chewier than the tendon I've had in pho elsewhere, and perhaps even a little undercooked. I normally would come here for lunch during the week, so I was surprised to see this place was packed last Sunday when I came for lunch. We went here for dinner tonight after the place that we normally go to in Palo Alto was closed. We chose this place because the rating was so high and it did not disappoint. And when it's tucked away in a small mall with minimal foot traffic (compared to Castro Street) it becomes a destination point...you have to want to go there...you're not likely to casually walk past it. Pho Anh brings the rich, authentic flavors of traditional Vietnamese pho Mountain View. They offer not only signature pho dishes but also a diverse menu featuring delicious options like rice bowls, vermicelli, noodle soups, and stir-fried dishes. It was the freshest Spring Roll we'd ever had. The freshness was standout noticeable. They offer a perfectly prepared appetizer. Differentiator #3: The broth. Pho Anh's is prepared for perfection. Not over salty like nearly every other Pho place we've dined at. I should preface my review by saying being Vietnamese I'm a very tough critic of Vietnamese food. I was in MV and craving Bun Bo Hue but didn't want to drive all the way down to San Jose so I found this place on Yelp. First impression when I entered, place looked new, clean and nice ambiance/decor. I ordered 1 spring roll (I was dining solo so just wanted little appetizer instead of full order) and , of course, the BBH. Service was prompt and courteous. The BBH actually came out before the goi cuon (spring roll). So, the positives with the BBH was large portion, meats were tender and tasty and good variety and ratio of meat to noodles was solid, and overall very tasty bowl of BBH. Now, the nitpicks for the purists, it lacked what makes BBH unique - the strong lemongrass flavor profile. It was too light on two key components- lemongrass and shrimp paste. Also for the purists, it doesn't come with pork blood, which I'm not a fan so I usually opt out anyways but if that's your jam. Also, could have been spicier but I just added the chili saté condiment. As for the spring roll, too much vermicelli and not enough greens, could have put in some cucumber and more lettuce over the vermicelli and missing herbs like mint and cilantro. The peanut sauce was good, elevated by some crispy sautéed shallots. Prices are higher than typical Viet restaurant but unsurprising for the MV location. Overall, good dining experience and I'd come back and try other things on the menu. read more

Perfect post-hike food! The house special pho included a giant piece of rib where the meat fell off of its giant bone. There was a healthy layer of fat, but I just pulled that off, and there was plenty of meat. Could be slightly more tender, but satisfying nonetheless. The kids and I both loved the broth. Comfortingly and not too salty. Loved getting a lime wedge instead of the lemon that so many places do now. The chicken banh mi was pretty good. Bread was properly crisp and light. Chicken was juicy. We also ordered a grilled pork rice plate, which I didn't try, but everybody else seemed to enjoy. Tons of parking. Easy enough to get a table on a Sunday at ~12:30pm. Love this new spot in Mountain View! We had the bun bo hue, beef stew, and shrimp/pork spring rolls. They gave us a free thai tea as well! The service was great - I like my bun bo hue with thin pho noodles, and they made sure to switch the vermicelli out for the ones I wanted. The both was spicy and flavorful, and my friend enjoyed his beef stew as well, though we both thought it could be a tad more flavorful/salty. This might be our new go to! I would not recommend eating here. The staff is incredibly rude. I had ordered 3 items to go but they only brought out 2 of the 3. When I asked about my third item the server accused me of not having ordered the 3rd item. He started shouting at me. I showed him the receipt with the 3 items and he still accused me of not having ordered it. I had never had anyone talk to me like that and not even bother looking into where the mistake was. Went today with a friend. The food was not something I would come back for. The seafood soup had 2 shrip, obe fishball sllit in half and two small pirces of squid. The flavor was blend and the beef soup ny friend ordered was also not good. What I find super deceiving is they don't bring you a receipt. You see your total on the screen when you go up to pay and add a tip than checkout on the device. We'll I had the system email me the receipt which most people don't do and guess what? They charged me the regulat taxes and had another line called Taxes and Fees that was almost the same amount as taxes. Than ofcourse I left a tip. I was wondering why the total was so high. Well between proper taxes, fake undisclosed fees and tip, you are playing 40% over the actual food price. This is horrible business practice and super shady. Not going back. read more

Second time eating here, and best rec is order to go. I can understand Vietnamese and can say these people struggle to conduct business with the public. Food - bland pho and bun bo hue, more fitting for the American taste. Shrimp taco may be the most interesting - clearly not Vietnamese but made for VN palate. Service - very scattered with the waitress who can't remember who came first to serve. Random people coming from the kitchen to assist, add comments or just fret. Ambience - horrible cheesy instrumental music. Kitchen door kept wide open and all activities are visible for diners to hear and see. Little gnats (presumably from the kitchen) would come visit you at your table but not the server. However, some random people came to intervene with a billing rebuttal - and loudly - for all to hear which dragged on for 10-15 min. Hardly what one wants to hear over dinner. read more

I came in because it is chilly, pho is comforting, and I have never been to this spot as I am not from the area. I ordered just pho broth and spring rolls to go. Hands down some of the best broth I have had. Born and raised in OC with some of the best pho out of Westminster is what I am comparing this to. This broth was absolutely fantastic. Not salty, yet savory, very fresh and clean tasting. The spring rolls with pork and shrimp were perfectly soft, fresh and so flavorful. I ordered both peanut sauce and fish sauce for dipping. It was delicious. The reason for not all the stars: The young man in the front was so aloof and on his phone, he seemed almost annoyed I was interrupting what he was doing on his phone. I placed my order and walked to the grocery store in the same plaza. Once I came back, it took 15 min to pick up this small order. There was literally one table occupied in the restaurant that had obviously finished their food and no other to go orders out that I could see. I understand it was an odd time, about 4:30, (not dinner, well after lunch) but the way i was received was so off putting. Based on food alone, it's fantastic. I've been to a lot of pho places in the Bay Area and this one is up there with them.
