Filipino food in Austin is about as hard to find as, well, quite literally anything. Luckily, we found Kapatad, and are very glad we did. Parking is easy to find with spots right out front and from the moment you step in you can feel the authenticity. In a city desperately lacking southeast Asian food, this was a huge breath of fresh air. We ordered for pickup and the process for it was very smooth. By the time we got back to our place we were extremely excited to dive in and try it out. This place offers a lot of Filipino classics so we went with the pork adobo, lumpia, and fried rice. The pork adobo was amazing. The pork was seasoned so well with a hint of kick and the adobo being so savory, mixing well with the potatoes. Standout dish and competes with the best adobos we've had at other restaurants. The lumpia was also very good. Very long lumpia with a nice filling and crunch to the roll. It was so good we didn't even bother with the dipping sauce. Lastly, the fried rice was also good. Unlike typical fried rice it didn't have the day old hardness and had a nice soft seasoning to it. We also got white rice as a side and it was good, pretty standard. All in all, Kapatad deserves a lot of recognition. It is the most authentic, and best, Filipino food we have had in Texas. To be honest, it's better than a lot of spots in NYC or the Bay. It's always nice to have spots like this keeping rich flavors and tradition alive. Whether it's your first time eating Filipino food, or you miss the taste of your childhood, Kapatad is a place we think you will love.

Hands down the best Filipino restaurant in town! Sizzling Pork Sisig with egg is my absolute go-to that never disappoints. It has a crazy umami taste that I can't put into words, so you just gotta try! Sizzling Pork BBQ is also very good. Juicy pork bbq with caramelized sweet & salty soy sauce, cooked perfectly charred & smoky. Highly recommend!

Five stars because service staff were amazing and the lechon was perfection. We also ordered their pancit which was good, their Shanghai lumpia, and pork adobo. The place was clean and they were fairly busy for almost closing. I love the way that they do their presentation and also their menu is pretty easy to navigate through. I can't wait to go back again.

I've been meaning to try this place for a while and the opportunity arose this past weekend to go with a friend visiting from out of town. Their hours online and in store were different so we rushed to get there thinking they were closing at 7pm but they were open until 8pm. I tried the beef kare kare, which was good but not spicy. They told me I could add the chili sauce on the table, which I did, but even that wasn't that spicy. My friend ordered the crispy tofu with broccoli, which he enjoyed. He ordered some items to go and I also ordered a beef & shrimp kung pao to go. They told me their max spice level was 3 so I asked for that on the kung pao dish along with asking them to take out bell peppers which they said they could do. Unfortunately, when I opened the to-go container the next day to eat it there were many red & green bell peppers in it and if their max was 3 spicy level, it was/is still not very spicy as I ate some of it after taking the time to pick out the bell peppers. See photos. I hope to try the place again and pick some other dishes. Other than that, the service was good and the restaurant was nicely laid out and pleasant.

We went here for lunch because it was recommended. Upon entering, they asked if we had reservations. I told them no. They were able to seat us right away. We ordered from both their menu and daily specials. All the food was so delicious. The halo halo was served in a plastic tub and could be shared with at least 2 people. The only gripe I have is that they charged a lot for extra rice. The staff was friendly and accommodating. I would prefer ordering takeout so I won't get charged for extra rice.

One of the best ways to celebrate Filipino American History month is to come here in Kapatad! My sons visited from out of town and NY and this feels like home. Their recipe remains authentic and I love that they kept the traditional ways for us! We had crispy pata. Omg and the sisig! Best in the United States anywhere I've been!, pancit sotanghon, the chicken sizzling was like we were back im our Philippine kitchen. The veggie special was lumpia ubod and another step up! This place in my eyes just got better! Service always amazing! Their Filipino portraits do symbolize our heritage and always always proud to bring my own and non- Filipino friends here!

Rating: 3.8/5 [delivery] We ordered lunch via Postmates, and delivery took about 30-40 minutes. Pork Belly Slabs/Lechon Kawali with Fried Rice ($18.75): The pork belly was over-fried, leaving it dry and lacking the juiciness from the fat. It tasted lean and definitely needed the accompanying sauce. The fried rice was an interesting yellow color, light in texture, and had very subtle flavors. It came with two scoops of rice. Sizzling Pork Sisig with Egg, Level 3 Spice, with Fried Rice ($15.50): Despite ordering level 3 spice, it wasn't spicy at all. The pork sisig had a strong lime flavor, making it taste more like a Mexican fusion dish. The dish had a variety of textures, came with one scoop of rice, and had a generous portion of pork sisig. While it tasted good overall, I wouldn't order it again.

I went to the Philippines in 2024 and am always craving Filipino food. This is the best in town for sure. The service is great, the owners are very sweet and the restaurant itself has a great ambiance!

If you enjoy eating meat and appreciate a variety of textures--like lean cuts, tendon, and a bit of fat--this restaurant is definitely worth checking out. I tried three dishes: the Chicken Pancit, Crispy Pata, and Beef Caldereta. All of them were delicious. The Chicken Pancit was flavorful with tender meat, and the noodles were well-seasoned. I ordered the medium-sized Crispy Pata, and the portion was perfect for one person. The skin had a satisfying crunch without being too hard, and the tendon inside was incredibly tasty. It came with shredded daikon and carrots pickled in ginger juice (similar to the pickled ginger served with sushi), along with a cup of vinegar mixed with chopped onions. These paired really well with the rich pork. On a previous visit, they also included a piece of pickled pineapple with the vegetables, which was a nice, flavorful touch. The Beef Caldereta is another standout. The beef was juicy and incredibly tender, while the carrots and potatoes were slightly crunchy, offering a nice contrast. The dish had a subtle sourness that made it especially appetizing. I'd definitely go back for these three dishes and would love to try more from their menu. As for dessert, the only one I've tried so far is the Halo-Halo--and it was unlike any iced dessert I've had before. It came in a large plastic bucket, so my husband and I shared it. The top layer featured a scoop of taro ice cream and a cube of flan, topped with sweet puffy rice flakes. Below that was a layer similar to bingsu--icy and not too sweet. The bottom layer was the most surprising, with sweet potato cubes, fried banana, corn kernels, and candied beans. It was a fun and unique treat with a great mix of textures and flavors.

Would recommend making a reservation for big groups but even though our 15-people group walked in, we were able to get seating pretty quickly for lunch. I don't normally have a lot of Filipino food so not sure what is most popular but we got the pork pancit, beef kare kare, pork sisig with egg, pork adobo, and egg rolls. My favorite is the pork adobe. I'm a fan of sweet, savory dishes like this one. The other dishes have some acidity (lime). They are delicious too. Beef kare kare has peanut butter. Got the halo halo for dessert! I like the toppings in the shaved ice.

I miss Filipino food so much, and this place hit the spot. Lol, I even got my side of vinegar with my rice. We ordered the lumpia, kawali (crispy pork), and pancit. If you've never had Filipino food I would recommend ordering these items as your gateway. The lumpia was fresh and crispy. The pork belly was perfection, use the sauce they give you for the perfect combo for your tastebuds. The pancit was filled with fresh veggies- if they have palobok next time, I'm trying that . Also, for the lumpia and pork you get a side of rice or fried rice. I recommend getting the fried rice. All the servers were really nice, but the owner went above and beyond to inform us about their rotating dishes. I was really craving palobok, breakfast food, and kare kare with oxtail. I'll definitely be coming here again.

I've been to Kapatad a couple times now and have enjoyed the food and the servers are really friendly. I'm not an expert on Filipino food, but it seems authentic and tasty though some dishes I enjoyed more than others. I enjoyed the sisig, lumpiang, and Bicol express in particular while the bbq chicken/pork and calamari were more standard and I didn't like the kare kare as much personally. The entrees come with rice or fried rice and the fried rice doesn't cost extra which is awesome. We also had the halo halo for dessert last time which was good. Overall the ambience and experience is nice and I would come back again for Filipino food.

Leading up to it we were pretty excited since we've seen a lot of online buzz about the place Man...we were super disappointed. I immediately knew we made the wrong choice when I ordered a "Banana Old Fashioned" and the only thing "banana" about it was a tiny banana chip that got tossed in a normal old fashioned (no joke, see pics) The prices on each of the items are also way too high for what it is. And the amount of food they give you is like ordering a side dish. You could get better bang for your buck at a food truck, and I'd argue that you can probably get better tasting food at a food truck too It's not even about the amount of food. If the quality was good, the price can be justified, but just because a waiter tells you how to dip your food in the sauces that it comes in, doesn't make it "fancy" You can tell this place loves their fish sauce, cause that's the only flavor you're going to get here Dessert was an absolute joke. Two scoops of blue bell ice cream with fruity pebbles sprinkled on top. Something that also bothered me at the end is that they pass on the credit card fees (3%) onto the customer. It'll say on the receipt. Even fast food restaurants don't do this. Waiters were very nice. Vibes were okay except for the "Valentine's Day" paper menu having a lot of food smeared on from previous diners. It was just another classic "let's charge NYC prices in Austin" type restaurant. Absolutely joke.

You can also order directly and pick it up as well to save on service fees and delivery costs. I grew up eating Filipino food and so to me this is comfort. The pancit (noodle) was tasty and had enough sweet to cut the soy. It's a combination of meats and a good pancit is always how the vegetables are cut and definitely how the cabbage is hand torn. It's also how the sauce is braised and integrated into the noodles. This definitely is more braised and so you would typically squeeze wedges of lemon to cut the flavor; iykyk that Filipinos tend to like sour and vinegar so adding lemon as an accoutrement is a must. The pancit bihon also comes with 4pcs of lumpia shanghai. The filling was delish probably one of the better lumpia's available in the Austin area (there aren't many options) but this one goes to the top though they could probably be more crispy and tightly rolled but I think I like they didn't roll them so perfect to make it more home style. I am also a fan of the little Mac salad that came with my dish. If you're familiar with the Hawaiian style it's almost the same but the Filipino one adds chicken and is slightly sweeter pineapple and sweet relish. They also have Filipino bbq, bangus (milkfish), your -log style dishes which are savory sometimes sweet proteins over rice and a fried egg. Weekends appear to have some special items. They even have kare kare (a traditional peanut curry with vegetables and oxtail) and a clear beef soup with soup bones and cabbage. Can't wait to try more of their menu. If you're missing Filipino food and you're in north central Austin this is really one of two places and if you haven't tried home style Filipino food this is a good day to try.
