Surprises this place opened up in Austin! I heard good things about it in Houston so it's cool another Vietnamese spot has opened up. I don't normally prefer BBH, so I got the second noodle bowl on the menu that has less adventurous ingredients like pig's blood. It was very flavorful and not too spicy. They also allowed us to swap out toppings if we didn't want something (I got more brisket instead of tendon). The veggies included for sharing are very fresh. Would recommend!

The bowls had just enough meat (all tender) Plentiful noodles that were cooked properly Kind service and plentiful veggie plates served on the side. I loved that the bun bo bowls already had plenty of flavor without the need of extra chili or shrimp paste. Be warned, the chili sate has a kick!
I ordered the bo kho with noodles and a bun bo hue. I thought the bo kho was really great. Super lovely flavor and the mi (noodles) in it had a great texture. I do wish I got some bread on the side as well because there's a lot of broth leftover. I've been blessed with having very good bun bo hue at home so I didn't think this was anything super special but it was still decent. My complaints would be that it is slightly sweeter than what I like and the broth's richness wasn't quite there until you added the mam rouc (fermented shrimp paste). They were quite busy even on a weekday for lunch, we waited about 30 mins.
As a Vietnamese I absolutely love this place for their BBH! It tastes so close to my mom's homemade BBH and it's so nostalgic eating it. Everything is seasoned so well and the side meat options they have are so much fun! This is definitely me and my family's go to spot after Vietnamese Catholic Church on Sunday. It's a small restaurant and they sometimes run out of food around 3 pm so definitely go early for lunch! The service is quick and the minimal ambiance and decorates are very nice.

After trying the bun Bo and the Bo Kho, I think we prefer the clear broth taste like in pho. The bun Bo and bo Kho are too flavorful, so it doesn't make me want to drink it all. The carrots are super huge in the Bo Kho but cooked really well.

The portions here are very generous. I was so full after my meal. Service: The servers are very friendly here. Ambiance: This is a casual eatery with plenty of tables to seat patrons. It might be trick for parties larger than 6 since they will need to put tables together to fit a party larger than 4.
This place was recommended to us to try since we really love bun Bo hue! We came on a Saturday for dinner and there was no wait. Restaurant has about 35 tables and is located in the shopping center of MT Market. Upon entering you are immediately greeted and lead to your table. We ordered the bun Bo hue and bo kho. 5/5 Both was delicious and we really enjoyed our meal! I love the flavor of the Bo kho and the French baguette is a staple to dip in the stew and eat! The bun Bo hue was a good balance of lemongrass flavor and if you want it spicy then on the table theirs chili oil for you to add and custom to your taste. There's also fermented salted shrimp paste on each table which I love because if it's not funky enjoy for you, you can add it. I usually add shrimp paste into the soup but I found that the saltiness of the broth was perfect. I love the amount of variety of meat, pork knuckle, blood block, and everything else that Bun Bo hue is traditional serve with. No shying away and that's how I love it! Definitely one of the best bun Bo hue in Austin! Do I recommend this place? Yes! I can't wait to be back and get both dishes again and try others on their menu! Definitely will be stopping here for a bite when I go to MT to pick up groceries! Highly recommended!

Not a typical Vietnamese spot in town. But turned out really good with a different selection from your typical pho. A lot it is udon soup. The small bowl we ordered were pleasantly large. Even the bone marrow had a lot. I felt the youthfulness flow through me. Pricing here was really good for the value. The coffee was also one of the best Vietnamese coffees I've had. I will definitely come back to try the rest. Come before 11 to avoid the lines.
I have been here multiple times since my original review a few weeks ago! Every time the service is kind and the consistency is something I really appreciate in a business. It's easy to do things good once but to maintain that level of consistency while you are new business is hard. I have taken my best friend here and every time I come my husband requests that I bring him Bahn Mi Bo Kho (Vietnamese- French beef stew with bread for dipping and he requests Extra Bahn Mi) because that is now his favorite Vietnamese dish. My only dream is that this place could be open later because coming to eat dinner at 5pm is so hard for me to do.
We came back as a group of 4 toward the closing time. It was rather slow inside and we got a table right the way. The food was great, I got Bun Bo Nam and it was just as good as the first time. Since 3 of us got it, we got a mountain of cabbage to share! There was also a huuuuuge portion of To Xi Quach on a gigantic bone. I can't really have it because of texture, but the bite of meat I got to have from it was really good! :D
Rating: 3.7/5 [dine in] We came during grand opening weekend, so the place was packed with a long wait. We had a party of 10, so the wait was about an hour. Even after being seated, it took another 15+ minutes before someone came to take our order. We had to go up to the front to pay the bill and order extra sides since we did not want to wait. They also sold out by 3 PM, so I recommend waiting until the hype dies down before trying this place. My husband and I switched bowls halfway through, and we both felt that each other's bowls were lacking. The broth flavors were not very bold overall. He liked the bun bo hue more, while I preferred the hu tieu bo kho. Bun Bo Hue ($14.95 S | $16.95 L): I did not think there was much meat, and the flavors were muted. Hu Tieu Bo Kho ($15.95 L): When I read hu tieu, I was expecting the large flat rice noodles, but they gave thin rice noodles instead, which was a bit disappointing. That said, the bo kho itself was really good, and the noodles absorbed the flavors well. There was a lot of meat, though not all of it was tender. Egg & Bone Marrow Shoot ($7): This was an umami bomb. On its own, it was too rich for me, but adding it to the bun bo hue broth did elevate the flavor. Fun to try once, but probably not for everyone.
I feel like this is a good traditional Vietnamese place with a modern take! A lot of modern Vietnamese restaurants take out parts of the Vietnamese culture through not having chili oil, chili paste, shrimp paste, etc available but this restaurant does! (I say this because I'm vietnamese) The tables are definitely sticky but the menus aren't! Simple menu, good explanations, I just wish the menus had the accents on the words for people practicing vietnamese and such. It would be helpful! We came when it was busy (1pm on a Monday) but we were sat within 5 minutes. Food came within 10 minutes, what a surprise! The broth was salty, and I love me a good savory broth. If you don't like it too spicy, adding the cabbage and lime helps soo much. This noodles were nice and bouncy, the meat was SOFT, and overall just delicious. I'm glad they didn't make it spicy so that I could customize the broth to my liking. If you're someone who likes spicy food but not crazy spicy, one scoop of chili oil is enough! Got the mi bo kho and it was pretty fire. The broth tasted authentic and clean, not super processed like some other spots, and the bowl came with plenty of meat. It felt like a very solid meal for Austin, flavorful and comforting without being too heavy. The inside was very clean and service was great, so the whole experience was easy and enjoyable. read more

With locations in Houston and California, you already know this spot is solid. The main thing to order here is the bún bò Huế, and in my opinion, they make the best version in Austin. Even when I lived in California, I would go out of my way to eat here, so Austin is very lucky to have a location. Their bún bò Huế comes with all the traditional toppings you'd expect, along with the thicker noodles that work so well in this soup. The broth is especially good--deep, savory, and flavorful without tasting overly salty. This is a must-visit for anyone who already loves bún bò Huế, or for anyone looking to introduce a friend to the dish for the first time. read more

So good yall. Austin really needed a restaurant dedicated to bun Bo hue. This franchise is from Houston and renown for their recipe. I went today for lunch after rumors that they were running their soft opening. I came at 1pm and they were slammed. Staff said they had been slammed since 11am. Their soft opening hours are 10am till supply is out. Attached is the menu of all the things they'll have but it seems like they only have their two bun Bo bowls right now and the extra items. All the herbs make this dish and broth rich, flavorful, and refreshing. I'm surprised at an egg mint cause I've never had that in the veggie plate for this dish. But man it makes a huge difference to cut and enhance the spices. Over all I was impressed, they're short staffed and overworked but I didn't wait very long for a table to turn over or to get my order. The portion is a bit small for the price. I'd expect it to be a dollar less honestly for a small but I don't think I'd be able to finish a large. Happy eating. read more
Absolutely phenomenal BBH. They nailed the flavors. Broth was deep, rich, and incredibly well-balanced. The bone marrow side dish was a total game changer for anyone who likes their broth extra rich and fatty. They were also very generous with the vegetables, which I appreciated. The pork knuckle was surprisingly tender, usually it's tough and hard to chew at other spots. We also tried the bò kho with bánh mì, and it was delicious. Perfectly spiced and just oily enough without being overwhelming. The stew made an amazing dipping broth for the freshly baked bánh mì. Only minor downsides: service was slow, likely because they're still in their soft opening phase, and they did mischarge us initially but it was an easy fix. The wait was about an hour today, though the location makes it manageable since there are plenty of nearby cafés to grab a drink while waiting. Overall, absolutely worth it. I want to start off by saying these guys are very new and when we went they were still in their soft opening. With that said, they were still figuring things out in terms of seating and waitlist so I want to give them some grace and only talk about their food. I got a large beef bun bo hue and the meat and noodles were spectacular, the bone was full of bone marrow, and the entire meal was very authentic. I loved this place in Houston so I took my friends here when they have an Austin location. The restaurant was so crowded at 3pm but the food came out pretty fast. We got the Bun Bo Hue, Kid's Bun Bo, and a Banh Mi Bo Kho, and all of them were delicious. The kid bun bo was $8 and came with 2 pieces of meat and 2 pieces of cha, and a lot of broth. The regular Bun Bo Hue came with all the toppings and they do give you a lot of meat. My friend got a small bowl but it was still big and very filling. The Banh Mi Bo Kho was so good, the broth was a bit too watery to my likings though. This is my #1 place for Bun Bo Hue in Houston and Austin, you should definitely go try it! read more
We came here for a Sunday lunch and it was packed!! Waited for a while and we finally got seated. Luckily parking wasn't too bad, it is located in Chinatown and there's a huge parking lot in front of the restaurant. I was expecting the regular pho with clear broth but to my surprised, both of the pho that we ordered were heavy and concentrated broth with thicker noodles. The meat tasted pretty good but it is not something that I would crave if I'm looking to get pho. The restaurant is still relatively new and decor is def on the modern side. This place is definitely worth the drive up from south austin! Their BBH tastes like home and that's something we were missing for a very long time. The broth is rich, meat is tender, noodles with the perfect bounce and all of that together made a wonderful meal that warms the heart. Looking forward to the next time! read more
I've been searching for a good bun bo hue, and this spot definitely delivers! Their menu is limited to what they specialize in, and the food comes out pretty quickly. I love the pork blood cubes--they don't skimp, and it tastes super fresh. The summer rolls are also good, and you can't go wrong with a coffee to complete the meal. Service is quick, and the restaurant itself is very causal. There's plenty of tables for both individuals and large groups. read more

Amazing new bun Bo hue spot in Austin, from Houston. They offer two sizes and it comes with lots of veggies. Overall very good, beefy rich broth with lot of flavor and slight lemongrass taste. We also got the rib meat on the side which comes with a delicious spicy/garlicky sauce, so good! They're located in the Chinatown center so there's plenty of parking. read more

So rarely do I find a Bun Bo Hue that I find good. Well the Bun Bo Hue here is I think one of the best Bun Bo Hue's that I've had. I also got a side of Chinese donuts to go with them and it was very fresh and crispy and paired perfectly with the Bun Bo Hue. There were also veggies included on the side too which gave a fresh twist to the Bun Bo Hue. Will definitely be back! read more
Sweet shop on the corner of a strip mall that sells an assortment of classic Vietnamese dishes - my aunt and I both ordered Bun Bo Hue. Staff are fluently bi-lingual and super friendly. The food came out really fast and exactly as ordered, I don't like all the additional items and honestly would have been happy with the sliced beef but my aunt and I did some tradesies to make our bowls how we like. The BBH was tasty but could have been stronger in flavor, perhaps more lemon grass? It could have had a bit more kick to it as well but overall a great lunch! read more

I've never tried this place and was excited to try an authentic Vietnamese dish since there are a lot of Pho places but not a bunch of Bun Bo Hue places around Austin. My friend got here early so she got us a table and service was super fast, we both ordered a small Bun Bo Hue and it was out in about 15 minutes. My friend whose Vietnamese said this is the best Bun bo Hue she's had in Austin and comes into close competition with her mom's! Will be back in the future to try out some of the other dishes! read more
I personally like to get the Bun Bo Nam vs BBH because I like these meats better. The meat is perfectly tender and just the right amount. The herbs are my favorite, and I like to load my bowl with lots of herbs and lime. I wish the large came with more noodles! The broth is so tasty. I personally like my broth a little spicier so I like to add the chili oil and plenty of lime. The service is always super quick. I recommend trying to go off peak hours so you're not waiting long. I always tell myself I will try the banh canh but I can't bring myself to order anything but the BBH. read more

I got the Spicy Beef Noodle Soup and it's Bomb!!! Highly recommend this place if you are looking for something spicy, juicy, and savory! Loved this! Will be coming to try more. I ordered the small one but couldn't finish it. Oh, by the way, the lettuce they put on the side are so good. Definitely add it to your bowl. I came in for a late 2pm lunch wanting the #4 Hu Tieu Bo Kho (Beef Stew w/ Rice Noodles) but they were sold out. I'll have to come back earlier next time! Fortunately, it ended up working out since the #2 Bun Bo Nam (Spicy Beef Noodle Soup) was delicious! What a great new addition to our humble little Chinatown plaza! read more

Very tasty! I prefer #1 or #2 because the broth is very flavorful without being too rich or overwhelming. #3 & #4 also taste good but have a much stronger meat and oil flavor. Everything was very fresh and out promptly. read more

One of the best Bun Bo Hue in Austin. The broth was very flavorful with the pork/beef flavor depth. Arrive early or you will be waiting in line forever and risk them selling out. Order a side of the beef cheek as well. read more
