Rice Paper Rolls (with grilled shrimp)
Zhao C.

This is my go-to spot in the East Riverside area whenever I'm craving pho because it's consistently good and I've never had a bad experience. I love the casual ambiance where you order at the counter and they deliver the food to your table. There's a condiment bar with unlimited toppings like lime wedges, green onion, red onion, cilantro, etc. so you can grab additional ingredients to your heart's content! I also like that most of their entrees come in one-size because I can sometimes take forever deciding between multiple sizes haha. As a call-out, their combination pho (called the Pho Please) does not come with meatballs so please keep that in mind since some pho restaurants do include meatballs with the combination option.

We all ordered different dishes, and everything was fantastic. The pho each of us had was absolutely amazing--rich, flavorful broth and generous portions. I really loved the topping bar where you can grab sauces, limes, and anything else you need to customize your soup exactly how you like it. The portions were huge; we all ate a ton and still had enough leftovers for several more meals. I love this place so much--it's honestly some of the best pho I've ever had. I'd even rank it higher than 888 Pan Asian. Highly recommend!

Combo vermicelli- with shrimps and bbq short ribs

Great spot for a good ole hearty bowl of noodle soup on a cooler fall/winter days. Pho is solid here and they have tripes and tendon which could be hard to find if you end up at a more Americanized VIet restaurant. While their vermicelli is decent, I would not go here if you're looking for authentic vermicelli. The veggies they use is spring mix. While spring mix is a much healthier ( in term of nutrition) it is not what we use for vermicelli. There should be typical lettuce and different types of herbs like mints, etc.. used in this dish. We ordered the combo which comes with 2 proteins and an egg. We chose shrimps and short ribs. Ribs were lean so it was a bit dry and somewhat tough. Shrimp was perfectly charred! I also appreciate their condiments bar. I love lots of lime I my food and even my water so it is extremely nice to be able to self-serve for the extra lime and herb veggies toppings. We also tried their boba tea and it was decent. Green light from me, should you need help making decision to get one or not! :-)

Had a hankering for pho with the recent cold front so I decided to try pho please, which was the closest spot that had good reviews. It did not disappoint, as it satisfied my craving and also showed me one of the more reasonable and delicious Bahn mi's I've had in the city. It is a order at the counter and sit down after establishment, and the interior isn't very big and can be busy, but the girl taking my order was pretty helpful with the questions I had, though she was vegan so it wasn't an exact match lol. She put me onto the Thai boba tea however and it was great. Definitely will come back when I'm needing my pho fix again.

Beef Pho ($15)

4.5 Stars - A casual Vietnamese spot serving pho, baos, spring rolls, banh mih, rice plates, and vermicelli bowls. There are lots of options to choose from for your Vietnamese food cravings. The prices are great and the portions are HUMONGOUS. They do NOT skimp on the protein. The meat quality is not high but it's on par with what's expected at this price. We got the chicken spring rolls ($7), beef pho ($15), and chicken rice plate ($14). Everything was yummy - nothing mind-blowing, but good. I would like to try something other than the pho next time ($15 for pho with 2 meats). Order at the counter, take a number, and they will bring the food to you. Tables and place are clean. They staff are very friendly too.

Serving sizes are so generous and pho broth was super flavorful! $15 for beef pho (comes with your choice of 2 cuts). Also ordered the lychee green tea which was delicious too. Service was friendly & quick.

This place is always reliably good! I got the pho please and the bowl was big enough for two people to share for lunch. The portion is generous and the soup is delicious. The tables are more of a self serve format, where you order at the front and then get seated.

Ordered pork vermicelli to go on January 26 (Monday) My only meal I had for that day, ended up getting Food Poisoning. Uncontrollable vomiting and ... It is now 4 am, still sick with tremors from the food poisoning. Might have to go E.R if the tremors and vomiting don't stop.

Was craving for a quick Viet food fix and it was pretty solid! Pho broth was strong and flavorful, just a bit sweet but it balanced out! The filet steak was soooo good, I highly recommend it to pair with the beef broth. The brisket was a bit dry tho :( I also liked the condiment/veggie station, which included the Togo boxes, utensils etc. The green milk tea was also yummy. Customer service was also awesome and friendly. Highly recommend!

I decided to stop here for lunch since I was in the area and was pleasantly surprised. It's a pretty chill, no frills type of restaurant. You order first at the counter and they choose a table for you to sit down. I ordered their pork vermicelli bowl. The pork was very tasty. I liked the veggies and egg which paired very well. I'm taking a star away because some of my noodles were clumpy and broken. My husband ordered their pork banh mi. I did take a bite out of his sandwich to try it out and actually enjoyed it very much. Will come back again for their banh mi. Service is quick.

It's the same owner of Sip Pho. The broth is pretty good and flavorful. I got pho please which includes all the toppings. The bun is good too. I went there for their anniversary event and all the staffs were still nice and patient.

Came here for dinner tonight and it was so good! I had the rice paper rolls (chicken spring rolls) as an appetizer and they were pretty good. The meat was very tender and the rolls were a good size. I kinda wished the peanut sauce had a little more flavor to it though. I think it would be really good if it had just a little spice and acidity to it! I got the beef pho and it was very good! Very good portion size and the meat seemed like it was high quality. The broth itself was also good, I still added a lot of lime and siracha though. I also loved that there was an area in the restaurant where you could grab more cilantro, onions, limes and other things to add to the dishes. Overall I would definitely recommend! Service was great and the restaurant was a good size with plenty of seating and a nice sized parking lot.

I had my boyfriend pick up the food and he forgot to check for the hoisin sauce. I can't eat pho without it, so I called the store and was told it was offered but that he must not have heard the employee asking. I tried to eat the pho anyway, and it ended up being one of the worst bowls of pho I've ever had. I'm Vietnamese, so I know what good pho should taste like. The broth was extremely bland and watered down, with no aroma or real pho flavor. Without hoisin sauce it was even worse. I tried adding seasoning to make it taste decent but nothing helped. The noodles were also hard and clumped together in one big chunk. I had to microwave them for about three minutes just to get them to separate. In the end, I gave up and threw away our 2 -$18 bowl of pho. The broth tasted worse than instant pho. Very disappointing. I should have known better than to order pho downtown.

The color wasn't too light, so I appreciated that they didn't go heavy on the condensed milk. Summer Rolls/Nem Nuong Cuon ($11): These were underwhelming, pretty bland without the peanut sauce, which I thought was just okay as well. OG Banh Mi ($14): Delicious! It was one of our top two banh mi here, along with the lamb one. The bread was nicely toasted, the pâté came through, and all the flavors were on point. Garlic Butter Prawn Bún ($18): The shrimp were perfectly cooked, though the garlic butter flavor wasn't very strong. The vermicelli and veggies were so fresh and tasty together with the nuoc mam that I was able to eat the leftovers without any protein. Curry Ramen ($16): This was our first time trying curry ramen, so we didn't know what to expect. You got to choose your protein, so we went with chashu. The curry had flavors similar to oc len xa dua and was pretty good, and the ramen itself had a great texture. I still prefer regular ramen but would still recommend trying this at least once.

But it also has egg and scallions and pate; overall the combo is satisfying. Separate from takeout, we decided to go for an early dinner. Their Crab Vermicelli Stir Fry is surprisingly sweet, with sweetness as a prominent flavor. It features plenty of crab bits. I also grabbed a Skillet Combo. It came with two runny side up eggs, pate, two types of cured pork, beef gravy, and a handful of cilantro. The baguette came on the side, as did the mixed salad of lettuce and tomato. The salad had some dried shrimp, fish sauce, and a slightly sweet dressing. The restaurant itself is located in the Chinatown Center on N Lamar. It's a small corner shop. Lots of mirrors and glass. The staff are friendly enough. Unfortunately, they've closed, and it looks like another restaurant will be opening up in its place. The situation leaves me unsure about where to go to satisfy savory sticky rice cravings.

The flavor was on the slightly bland or mild side (very subjective, and I ddin't add extra sauce), but I appreciated that it didn't seem to have MSG. This place is legit when you see that it is full of local Viet on a Sunday afternoon!…read more The menu is pretty good with authentic Vietnamese food but we normally come here for the S1 Ribeye Hot Stone Pho. They bring out the meat and noodles separately and then the soup in the stone bowl. This time the asked me if I wanted all the greens-- lime wedges, basil leaves, jalapeño slices and bean sprouts. I never eat the bean spouts but use everything else and it always seems a waste of bean sprouts when I don't use them so I was thankful to have them hold the bean sprouts. Be careful as the soup is extremely hot and the hot stone bowl keeps it that way for a while. You fill the bowl to the brim after adding all the meats and noodles. My only complaint is the noodles. They are fresh and just the right texture... very good! But for some reason the always seem to get cut up after I put them into the bowl. Not sure if they cut them before hand but they end up cut short when put them in the bowI. I prefer long slurpy noodles over cut noodles that's hard to pick up with chopsticks. Overall I still give it 5 stars and this one of the two best pho spots in the greater Austin area
