Khai Look Khoey (Son-in-Law)
Brittany E.

I've been hearing about this Austin staple of a Thai place for years. I'm so glad I came in! It's a little spot that feels so cozy and the service is spot on. Our server was present, helpful, and gave us great recommendations on food. We had the Khai Look Kory (Son in Law), Yen Toe-Fo (Pink Soup), and Tears but Joy (with fish). The Son in Law was a real surprise that had such great flavor with good textures as well. The Pink Soup was so delicious with the fat noodles, chicken, and seafood. I think the broth was really on point and tasted like a homey dish. The Tears but Joy is just that; spicy but amazingly delicious. The flavor of the sauce was really something special. Make sure to get some extra water because it's hot! I can't wait to come back and try many more of their dishes.

I finish the plate in 10 minutes. So good

Food is great. Convenient location. Recently renovated The lady is friendly. Quick easy lunch. Come early because they close at 2 for lunch

Pad Thai with chicken

Best Thai food in Austin! Tom Kha Gai (coconut chicken soup) is wonderful and made with fresh, authentic ingredients..... I know because I make it at home. Pad Thai is excellent without the sweet red sauce or ketchup most local places use and it's not soupy. Drunken noodles with shrimp, great; curries etc, great. Best soft spring rolls with shrimp in town, made fresh to order... thus not chewy.

#A Tom Ka Soup * (#3 Top Seller) - A bowl of Tom Kha soup featuring chicken pieces, chopped green onions, and a creamy coconut milk broth. The soup is placed on a white plate on a wooden table, with a side dish of stir-fried vegetables and rice visible in the background. The setting appears to be a casual restaurant offering Thai cuisine.

I've been coming here for years, and it's always been great! It's authentic and they're able to accommodate my vegetarian restrictions. I love the tom ka soup, pad thai and ginger tofu.

We've been here before and it is always good. Food was delicious, and the staff was friendly and attentive. We had a couple appetizers, soup, and a green curry dish.

Friendly staff. The pad zee eew was pleasantly delicious and paired it with the tom kha. If you're in town and looking for a spot for Asian food would recommend. I'll look forward to doing a 10 lbs pad Thai challenge soon

The image shows a restaurant table with two plates of Asian dishes. The first plate contains fried rice garnished with chopped green onions and cucumber slices. The second plate has stir-fried noodles with vegetables, including carrots and leafy greens. There are chopsticks placed on napkins beside each plate, and a glass of water is partially visible on the right side. The background includes a dark table surface and chairs, indicating a casual dining setting.

Besides the food being absolutely delicious, the staff was excellent. They catered to us as if we were the only people there. I ordered the pineapple fried rice and was not disappointed one bit. The atmosphere was quiet and peaceful. This was an excellent experience! Can't wait to come back.

The food is amazing! Today I tried the pepper pork and it wasn't what I thought but still even better then expected. I haven't been to a place better then here in all of austin. Come now and give yourself a unforgettable experience.

Fried rice with shrimp and thai noodle soup with pork. But you can exchange the protein:shrimp, chicken, pork, or beef

The food and service is great! Food comes out super fast! I asked one dish to be spicy and it was so good. The place is clean. Will definately come back!

I have been coming to this restaurant since I was a kid and now my kids come with me! It is absolutely my favorite and now my kids favorite Thai restaurant! So eat it or Die!!!

#3 Pad Zee Eew - A plate of Pad Zee Eew, a Thai noodle dish, contains wide rice noodles, broccoli florets, and ground meat, garnished with crushed peanuts. The dish is served on a white disposable plate placed on a wooden table, with a metal fork and spoon on either side. In the background, there is a condiment caddy with various seasonings. The image captures a typical Thai restaurant meal setting.

I loved the service, but the pad se ew was okay I've had pad se ew in so many restaurants and this one tasted a bit too tangy and thick the sauce.

Pad Thai and salad.

Bodhi Viet Vegan is a hidden gem...literally not figuratively. When I drove down W. Parmer Lane…read moreinitially, I passed by it. I ended up having to call to get the precise directions. Fortunately, when the food truck owner told me it was near the Psychic Reading building, I knew precisely where to go. This food truck is in the back of a building, where you walk down a path to get to it. There is a sign that points to the food truck area, but not tall enough to catch your attention. Alas, I was there. One of the things I learned pretty quickly was the difference between a vegan diet and Daniel's fast. To be transparent, the Daniel fast is more restrictive. For example, you can only eat unleavened bread on the Daniel fast, whereas you can eat leavened bread as a vegan (bread that have yeast or other agents to make the bread rise). In addition, vegans can eat processed foods and use sweeteners, whereas with the Daniel fast, you only eat items that come from the earth. After deciding on what met my criteria for Daniel Fast, I decided on the mung bean noodles with vegetables. The food truck owner was super kind to make suggestions. The noodles were translucent with a bit of spice. I really enjoyed the noodles. Only one other couple was present, who appeared to be a regular. Overall, laid back environment. We are almost at the end of week one of the Daniel fast. It has been a time of reflection and cleanse.

Rating: 3.8/5 Bodhi…read moreis a vegan food truck run by local Buddhist nuns/volunteers. I love the mission they believe in--that wholesome vegan food is the key to a peaceful and healthy lifestyle. I recommend ordering to go, as your food will be aggressively attacked by flies if you try to eat there. Also, this is a CASH ONLY place, even if you order online. Their menu is hugeee, so it took us a while to decide what to get, but the prices are unbeatable for what you get. They also prepare the food pretty quickly and package everything nicely. Deep Ocean ($9): Crispy soy protein, chili, garlic, seaweed toast, and special chef sauce served on a bed of white rice. The best thing we tried here. The soy protein had a nice crunch, great flavor, and an addictive quality. In my opinion, you don't really need the rice--they can be eaten like French fries. Banh Mi Seitan BBQ ($6): It was really good the first time, but just okay the second. There was less "meat," and it lacked flavor. The bread was also soft, so I don't think they toasted it. Banh Mi Char-siu ($5): Not even close to char-siu texture or flavor, but it wasn't bad. Same issue with the bread and overall lack of flavor. Sticky Rice ($7): Soy protein, steamed sticky rice, crispy shallots, green onion, topped with house sauce. This item requires you to call in or order online ahead of time, as it takes a while to make. When we got it, it looked like they forgot the green onions. This vegan version lacked umami and isn't something we'd recommend. Signature Broken Rice ($9): Broken rice with shredded meatless protein (Cơm Tấm Bì), fried shredded potatoes, grilled BBQ seitan, char-siu, and homemade sauce. A great dish to start with since you get to try different proteins, and they give a generous portion. It was good but paled in comparison to the Deep Ocean.

Server came out with our dishes. Everything was beautiful, clean ingredients and fresh looking. I did get a Brussels sprouts and kale salad. I also added chicken to it. They have flavored teas that have no sugar in them and they are so so good. With this restaurant, you placed your order at the front and you sit down with a number and then they serve your food. When you place your order, the people you give your order to know the answers to what's in the food. That is so helpful. I got a chicken breast with vegetables cooked in olive oil and fresh fruit and hummus with fresh vegetables. It was so good. The prices are a little high, the chicken breast with vegetables and fruit was $15.95 and the serving size was small. I'm a small person so it was perfect for me but definitely not enough for a man. My husband got shrimp and two servings of fruit. Again tasty but small portions and it was $16.95. I feel that the hummus was adequate in size and it was really good. But they charge you $3.25 extra if you get it with vegetables instead of hummus, so the hummus plate was $10. The lunch for two people was just under $60 so that's a little bit expensive for lunch. The restaurant was beautiful and clean and the mood was so upbeat and positive. I highly recommend this restaurant and I can't wait to be back!

I came back and waited about a minutes before I was acknowledged, I was sat and the waitress was attentive. I wanted to try the arepita appetizer which is normally served with shredded beef/pork or chicken on the side- to get a side of plantains instead of meat, it was going to add 3$ to the 14$ appetizer so I just opted to omit the meat all together and still had to pay the $14 ...which I don't feel is appropriate- people always wanna add money to sub a veggie for meat but never reduce the price when just removing the meat all together. Anyways, Ordered my food which was out promptly, the veggie bowl was delicious as always and the arepita appetizer (no meat) was good- reminded me of a fried potatoe cake, I used the arepitas as a vessel for my veggie bowl ! I brought the remainder of my bowl home where I bit into something very hard , once pulling it out of my mouth I discovered some beef snuck it's way into my dish- disappointing forsure but it is the first time out of about 10 times this has happened here. Prices have gone up over the last few years my veggie bowl was 18$.

We never had Pulav here before but thought of trying because it was listed as new item. My husband was craving for poori so we got the poori aloo and ofcourse, rava dosa is one of the best here so we didn't want to miss that. We got poori pretty quick and were told that other items were coming pretty soon. Rava dosa came after in few mins but it was soggy and cold. You can tell that it's not just came out of tawa. It looked like an old order to me. I asked to call the manager and told about dissatisfaction with rava dosa. He first tried to defend, then I asked him to touch and tell and if it's fresh. He said he will get it replaced and get a fresh one coming. Ofcourse that took 15-20 mins to come. Paneer Pulav was good. Not too spicy and it came with yogurt to balance. Rice was also sticking to each other so it looked like paneer biryani to me but ofcourse very balanced spices version. My friend also ordered the veg keema Pulav but I like the paneer one more. Service can be hit or miss so I'm reducing one star but overall good quality is good. Also when I visited this back in June, they had the buy 2 Pulav at a certain price offer going on. We looked at it later and checked that out cheque had individual priced for each Pulav. Manage gave the reason as we ordered two in 15 mins gap. He later offered us the balance as courtesy but we didn't take it. I think this should have been accounted while creating the cheque in first place. The appetizer was served last, and it wasn't even piping hot, as if they had just made it. You only get one tiny 8-ounce plastic bottle of warm water to drink, unless you go out and grab another one out of the pack in the other room. That said, the dosa is excellent, textures and flavors on point. Onion pakoda are crave-worthy, crispy and well seasoned. The spices are bright and bold, unrestrained, and deeply satisfying. It's fantastic that so many options are vegan as is. Unfortunately, the issues with payment was the final straw. I had a coupon that seemed to completely flummox the poor guy, and while fumbling with my phone, executed the transaction with Google pay, which is not at all how I wanted to pay. He "couldn't" refund it, for some reason. It makes me so sad. Seems like a great, family-run place with excellent food. I won't be revisiting.
