Amazing food! As someone who is Asian, it wonderful to see and taste food that is unapologetic of our flavors. Blue Apsara stays true in to themselves and sharing SE Asian foods. I had the Taste of Cambodia platter and every part of it was amazing. If you've never had Cambodian food - speak to the people working there. They'll point you towards the right direction but with the food that I've had, there is no wrong direction. I'll be back to try the fish and papaya salad. read more

I ordered an apsara nom pahng sandwich from here the other day and really enjoyed it. I can only compare it to a banh mi, but I'm sure there are differences I'm unaware of. This sandwich was filled with veggies and lemongrass pork. The bread itself was delicious and perfectly crunchy on the outside. They have some outdoor tables with umbrellas. I think you can also sit in the plant store or closer to the coffee truck that also has seating. The man in the truck was also super friendly. Don't sleep on this one! read more

Blue Apsara Cambodian Food Truck on S. Lamar is a great introduction to Cambodian food as it's known for its bold flavors. The menu features classic dishes like lok lak, Cambodian curry, and stir-fried noodles, all seasoned deeply with lemongrass, garlic, and fermented sauces. Important to note, food items are reasonably priced. I decided to get the egg rolls as this was the first time trying Cambodian food. The egg rolls blew my socks off. They were thinner than a standard egg roll with tissue paper thin shell. The egg rolls were filled with vegetables and meats as well as exploding with flavor. I think these are the best egg rolls I recall eating! The food truck setup is located near a plant and coffee shop. There is some seating at picnic tables nearby. What an unexpected treat! Every time we visit Austin I make it a point to come here. Very authentic flavors. We got the taste of Cambodia and the ribeye with papaya salad. These dishes transport me back to my time in Vietnam and Lao. The owner is very personable and you can tell he puts his heart into the food he serves. This food truck is in the parking lot of Desnudo. I definitely recommend ordering a bite before hopping in the line for coffee. They give you a buzzer, so you know when your food is ready. I tried the Nom Pahng Pate sandwich. The bread had a nice crust without being too dry. The meat was flavorful, and the pate added a nice buttery flavor. I got to try this place out during the Lao Night Market event this year. I got their prahok ktis. It was my first time trying Cambodian food but it was very tasty. Curry forward and you can taste the coconut milk sweetness. Came with rice and veggies--which paired nicely The egg rolls were pretty standard. I love supporting small businesses especially when they are serving such delicious food in a cuisine that you really don't find here in Austin! Blue apsara is an incredible Cambodian food truck that serves authentic and delicious food! It is located next to a plant shop where there are a couple tables to enjoy your food (if you choose not to drive it back home!) I highly recommend ordering the taste of Cambodia as we were able to sample the greatest hits the food truck has to offer! It came with egg rolls, which were cooked perfectly crispy and was accompanied with sweet and spicy sauce! It also came with the beef sticks, which the beef was marinated perfectly and went so good with the rice. The Khmer-Lao sausage was also incredibly done! The star of the meal though, was the Prahok K'tis which is a very authentic Cambodian dish. This alone is worth trying! It's spicy and funky in the best way possible. We also tried Nom Pahng Pate, which is similar to a Banh Mi! It was really good and I enjoyed the pate that was inside! Overall, please come and support this incredible food truck!!! This meal did NOT disappoint!! I wish I could eat it every day. My husband and I shared the Taste of Cambodia and it was the perfect amount of food - we didn't finish it all, but every bite was absolutely delicious. The owner gave us tips on how best to enjoy which was super nice. We sat at the picnic tables nearby and didn't wait long at all for our food. Opened up the yelp map last night so my husband could pick up food in that area and stumbled across Blue Apsara. I was thrilled because I've never had Cambodian food and thought I was half Thai my whole life until my DNA test. Mom's DNA came back 65% Cambodian. Anyway there are Thai dishes that people like that turn out to be more Laotian or Cambodian or from the Isan region of Thailand where food is spicier. That being said we were not disappointed with the food we had last night. I ordered the combo plate, Weeping Tiger I think it's called, and the papaya salad with medium spice. Medium is super spicy! I wanted to shovel it in my mouth but the spice wouldn't allow that. I also took a huge bite of the weeping tiger sauce on a cucumber slice. Woohoo! Don't do that unless you can handle the heat! Absolutely delicious though. So when ordering keep in mind there's American palate medium spice and Cambodian. My husband also mentioned several times how nice the owners are. So if you're into spice or Thai food, run to Blue Apsara. If you feel dead inside, eat something spicy from here to reignite your heart. read more

Since getting to Austin, I had not been able to find Cambodian food, until a few days ago, when I noticed the Blue Apsara food truck when I was driving on South Lamar. Today, I had lunch there, and it satisfied my craving. I had spring rolls and the fish amok. Both were excellent. The owner, Kim, is very friendly and was happy to make recommendations, though I arrived knowing what I wanted. The food wash fresh and met my taste expectations. There is ample seating both outdoors (it was a perfect day for that) and inside the plant store that shares the parking lot. I hope that the food truck will be such a success that they will eventually move to brick and mortar which will allow them to broaden their offerings. In the meantime, I will eat here often. As an added bonus, Desnudo is also in the parking lot. Not only was the miso brown sugar latte delicious, but it seems that Austin has the nicest baristas west of the Mississippi, if not in the whole country. read more

Extremely high quality despite a relatively large menu in a food truck. Not sure how they do it, but wow. Ordered online at dinner time on a Saturday and arrived earlier than the scheduled time, could see that they were juggling a bunch of orders at once, but they still managed to finish mine early so that I didn't have to wait long (got my food 10 min ahead of schedule). JUST saw this new food truck at Mary and South Lamar (right by the urban motorsports shop, on the right if heading south). It's about a mile south from the river/downtown. Cambodian options are extremely limited in this town so I was thrilled and I immediately made an order and was not disappointed! First I will say that the food here is extremely tidy. Perfectly formed and "neat" presentation. I ordered the eggrolls which were perfectly formed thumb sized crunchy Yummies. I got the Nom Pahng pate sandwich which is one of two "banh mi adjacent" sandwiches they offer. It was fresh and the tasty and the baguette was perfect, which is a real feat considering it is pissing rain right now. I also got the weeping tiger steak which is nice chunks of steak and a great dipping sauce. It's the most simple of the dishes I ordered but tasty and solid. I look forward to trying out the rest of the menu and bringing my friends! They don't yet have online ordering but I was able to call them and put my order in ahead so I didn't have to wait for my takeout order. They have "outdoor seating" under an awning of the plant store that shares the parking lot and advertise "indoor seating" but I did not wait around in the rain enough to investigate that lol. read more

We finally got to try Blue Apsara today! My mother in law is Khmer and she was supposed to come visit for spring break and we were all craving her cooking but last minute she couldn't come. When we looked on google, even though it was 45 min from our house, we knew we had to make a trip to try it out! Satisfied our cravings and the staff were so sweet! This is a sweet little spot. Owner Kim is super friendly and cooks everything scratch to order. You can eat in a special room in the plant shop (with AC and lovely big plants), or just wait there/shop until your order is ready. We have really enjoyed the Cambodian chicken curry, egg rolls, prahok k'tis (ground pork and pork belly with rice, pickles and raw veggies on the side), and nom pahng pate (similar to banh mi). Refreshing, interesting flavors, sort of a blend between Thai and Vietnamese (makes sense). So glad this is in our neighborhood! read more
