Fortunately Cockti was nearby and ordering was pretty straightforward with the QR code. We got the Hulked Chicken Sandwich, Thighs & Fries, and Lemon Saffron Aioli. The hulked chicken sandwich was truly hulked with a ton of things inside that harmoniously worked together. The thighs and fries were nicely spiced up and paired well with the lemon saffron aioli. I had this place previously and they had a sichuan mala chicken sandwich. It wasn't on the menu when I went last so it may be seasonal. This is one of those spots I so badly want too gatekeep, but also want to share with everyone because it's THAT GOOD. The chicken is insanely juicy and moist, and the skin/batter is unbelievably crispy. I ordered 3 orders of the 3pc just so I could try all 3 of their dry rubs. The spice and the flavors of each are perfect, all balanced with a touch of sweetness. If you like that tingly, numbing feeling, get the Szechuan. If you like just the spice, do the Spicy (I personally order it extra spicy), and if spice isn't you thing, their Chipotle Cinnamon is such a great option. The mac & cheese is the best I've ever had. The chicken was crispy and the plantains were flavorful with the added sauces. The service was great and the owner makes it a point to check in. The location on a very hot day definitely is not ideal so I would not recommend this place for ambiance. I would say BYOB because the drink option are limits to 2 and the water purchase option is only the mini water! The only thing keeping me from giving this place a 5 star review is the menu does not offer much in terms of an item to balance the heat and the heaviness of the other menu items. "Fried Chicken Thigh, House Rub, Green Onions, Cilantro, Lime, Agave Nectar, Spicy Pickles, Chipotle Ranch, stuffed in a Toasted Bun" is the official description, but somewhere in there is some magic. This unusual combination of flavors really works. The chipotle gives it just enough heat for a slight burn, but then the sweetness of the agave and the warm touch of cinnamon rounds out the flavors. The boneless thigh is super juicy and perfectly fried, the big bun is warm and toasty, the pickle slices add a nice crunch, and they slather on just enough of the ranch dressing to make sure your fingers are gonna get messy. It's worth it. Cockti serves out of a food truck at the corner of MLK and Walnut Street in East Austin. There are a few parking places available in the lot, and I had no trouble finding street parking. They share the parking lot with a food truck that serves Puerto Rican food that also looked interesting. We went to Cockti on the Saturday evening after Christmas after seeing it on multiple "best new restaurants in Austin" lists, and it absolutely lived up to the hype! We ordered the 3-piece fried chicken, the mac & cheese with nuggets, and an extra order of nuggets. Two of us tried the Szechuan seasoning and one tried the spicy version. Portion sizes were huge and we had plenty left over! Both the bone-in chicken and the nuggets were incredibly juicy and tender with a perfectly crispy, flavorful coating. The nuggets are made with thigh meat, and even a family member who usually doesn't like boneless chicken loved them. The mac & cheese with green Hatch chile queso, green onions, and cilantro was creamy, rich, and full of flavor. Service was quick and friendly, and the chef checked in to see how we were enjoying the food. Cockti Fried Chicken knocked my socks off. I was initially going to try the sandwich since that's the main thing here, but the mac and cheese caught my eye.
