This review is for their food truck just outside of Wanderlust Wine on Shady Lane. The food was decent. The service was chaotic. The person who we think was in charge did his best to hold it together given that no ones online orders seemed to go through so while we were attending the Broadway Drag show. There were two people working. One person got really defensive and I didn't see anyone being rude to him or them while we were in line. We were all confused why our food wasn't ready and they didn't seem to have any idea what our orders were so we had to re-tell them our orders and wait maybe an extra 30 min to an hour past when the online order app said our food would be ready! There was a line of people waiting in the hot sun to repeat and wait for our orders so some missed out on the actual show waiting for food. The one younger guy worker apparently just quit on the spot saying "I only get paid $15/hour" and walked off leaving the other guy to fill all the orders! Many people will understand technical difficulties and we saw the the one guy left trying to do his best to fill the orders. I think customers were frustrated but we all just had to wait it out. Kudos to the guy who didn't give up!

Holy Cow, you could zip right by this place without ever realizing it's a Hamburger joint. The sign is faded out so you can't really read it any longer. Parking is limited and so is the space inside. We were there on a Sunday around 1 pm and it was not crowded and there was sufficient parking. Step inside and it looks like you're in a 7-11. If atmosphere is your fancy, then this is NOT the place you want to go. I didn't pay so I don't know if they add a surcharge for credit card purchases but that's getting to be too common around the area for food places. On to the food. Their claim to fame is Locally produced (in Fredericksburg, Texas) grass fed beef. The standard hamburger is 1/3 a pound before cooking and includes all the toppings (cheese extra). The burger was good, but for the price I couldn't tell the difference from the grass-fed beef and whatever the other cows eat. At 1/3 pound it had the size advantage over most other burgers. It was not greasy like some places that do had patted burger patties, and it had a nice mild flavor. The bun was absolutely exceptional. It was fairly thin but it held together perfectly with all the sloppy sides and never fell apart, yet it was chewy and easy to the bite. I've never had a bun quite like that but, in my opinion, they all need to be made that way. The fries are the jewel of this burger basket. They are hand cut with the skins on and fried to perfection. Not at all oily and not loaded down with salt. Perfect French fried potatoes. The onion rings are definitely homemade, they slice the big Bermuda onions right there, batter them and drop them in the deep frier. I'm a sucker for good onion rings, but someone else was treating so I skipped them, but they looked amazing. They have regular Pepsi and then some healthy name sodas I had never heard of. I did try the cherry and it was pretty good, but mostly drank the Pepsi. There is no service to speak of: They yell out your name and you get the food. If business is slow, which it was on the day we were there, they bring the food to your table. Now we know that anything that has WHOLE in the name also costs a WHOLE lot of money. And the price was on the hefty side,t - mainly due to the 1/3 pound local grass fed burger. Burger, small fry, small drink was $18.66 with tax. I assume the price as the three of us each had the same thing and the total bill was $56, so divided by three. Now we don't live in Austin, so it's a long drive for us to go to South Lamar from Cedar Park and although it was decent food, I wouldn't be tempted to go back there even if I lived nearby mainly due to the price. When I do eat a burger, it's generally for a quick lunch and a Wendy's single meal for half the price is fine for me. If you're a burger fanatic then it might be worth the extra price.

4.5 I finally went to Wholly Cow restaurant with my husband. From the exterior I thought it looked like a convenient store but you walk in and there is an ordering window and lots of seating. They sell a variety of other things such as salsa and summer sausage. We walked up to the ordering window and placed our order. I got the Wholly Clucker which is a fried chicken sandwich that has lettuce, pickles, and a spicy sauce. The chicken in the sandwich was good. It was thin and juicy on the inside but crispy on the outside. For my side I ordered a half order of onion rings. The onion rings were yummy. The onions had a sweet taste to them. The exterior part of the onion rings were crispy but not overly crispy. The combination made for a yummy side. My husband ordered the Pure Single Hamburger without cheese and he added bacon and grilled jalapenos. I tried it and it was really good. The burger was very flavorful and I would probably get that next time. For his side he ordered a half order of fries. The fries were large and soft. There were a few crispy small ones in the basket which I liked. To finish off our meal my husband and I split a chocolate chip cookie. It was soft and sweet and the perfect end to our meal. We also picked up some Summer Sausage before leaving and brought it home. It is really good. I will probably return for this alone as it's a great snack with crackers. Overall It was a good place to stop for lunch. The service was friendly, the atmosphere was casual and inviting, and the food was tasty.

This is supposedly a patty melt as ordered.

Typical hipster self absorbed "look at me" place. Dirty and unkempt looking. Sticky seats and table. Got a patty melt. Complete failure. Turning a burger bun upside down isn't toast. Shockingly true. Meat was grey and not cooked all the way. Cold center.

I did what anyone does when their hungry order the closest thing to be delivered as I was at work and to busy to leave. I am glad I did. I ordered the holy double cheeseburger with bacon, lettuce and tomatoes. I am a no sauce kind of person. The burger was phenomenal...so juicy and fresh even as a dleivery order. I can only imagine what he taste like in person. I got Swiss cheese on this and debated on extra cheese but I am glad I didn't...because the ratio was perfection and the Swiss flavorful. A lot of time Swiss cheese doesn't have the appropriate flavor or lack of but I can tell Wholly Cow took an effort in choosing their items to procure for their burgers. I got the side of tater tots as I feel if tater tots are always an option you should. They were crispy and as a regular tater tot is in flavor as well. Nothing extraordinary but I did eat every bite. I recommend checking out Wholly Cow and take a friend so you can try some different options.

WoW Wholly cow Batman!... This hole in the wall that my wife found is awesome. The food was top notch and the server was really chill. Totally recommend this spot.

So worth the wait! Wholly cow this place is underrated! We went in expecting to build a six pack, which they don't do anymore, and ended up getting some really great sandwiches. The guy at the counter was working alone and totally crushing it. He not only took the time to thank us and introduce himself, but he also ran us orders while cooking everyone's food! It was super surprising to find that this spot had not just one but several vegan options, and locally sourced (and non GMO) options for our meat eating friends. The ambience is quieter with no music and instead friendly conversations from the patrons. It's smaller, kind, and welcoming. This spot has a small town country store vibe where you order at the counter and can shop around for jams, baked items, and of course beer! Will be back for great food and wonderful service. Club 5/5 Philly 5/5 Vegan Philly 5/5 *would recommend a water station for the future!

First time in Austin and I wanted burgers really bad! We stopped by because of the grass fed claims, and let me tell you I am 100% obsessed! Clean ingredients, absolutely delicious and I love that they have gluten free options too! If you are a Whole Foods eater, this place is for you! The staff was so kind and professional! I also love the bodega feels! You know it's fire when it also has a small store inside! I will be back!

Woke up hung over craving a greasy burger. Wholly cow didn't disappoint. Flavorful, juicy and yummy

Best little secret cafe in South Austin. We love the grass fed hamburgers, hand breaded onion rings, and fresh cut fries. The cheesesteak sandwich is also not to be missed. They recently added homemade desserts, cheesecake, brownies, huge cookies and gluten free and vegan desserts. Love to bring the family here for a chill lunch or dinner. **Casual atmosphere with great food!

I would recc taking out since there wasn't anyone bussing the tables so it was a bit untidy.
