Overall: 4.3/5 We ordered for pickup again, and the food quality is pretty close to a dine in experience compared to other places. Tom Yum Soup with Shrimp ($10): Very sour so I had to dilute it. They did give a lot of veggies and a good amount of shrimp though. However, I still recommend the tom kha soup over this one. Crispy Pad Thai ($22) + Shrimp ($2): Consistently good with any protein, but I think beef pairs the best. The pad thai was crispier this time too. Hu Tieu SG ($21) + Duck ($10): We went with the shrimp and pork belly soup option with extra serrano pepper and hu tieu kho sauce. This version is better than the Hu Tieu Kho, and the duck was a total game changer so I highly recommend adding it. Just know it runs on the blander side without the sauce so make sure you get that extra on the side. Filet Mignon Onion ($25): We got it extra spicy and requested medium rare. I thought the price was a bit steep for a small portion but the meat was cooked well and tasted really good. Five Sampler ($28): Came with fresh brisket spring rolls, grilled pork patty skewers, sugar cane shrimp, pork belly bao, 1618 eggrolls, and two dipping sauces. Best enjoyed in person since the spring rolls and bao really need to be eaten right away.

Food is phenomenal but the prepare for a wait. I highly recommend making a reservation ahead of time. They are very busy but you can order from the bar which in the meantime which is nice. Food is amazing as always and I always recommend going during mango season so you can try their mango sticky rice!

If you've never had purple ha how, well guess what you can at 1618 Fusion. And it was delicious! As was the rest of the dim sum platter which, while only eight pieces and is technically two dim sum plates, had four soup dumplings. Four/eight are safe for pescatarians. There are a few happy hour dishes that are worth getting there before 6pm for such as the sesame chicken. Theirs is so good we ordered a second dish. The vegan pho is noteworthy for its existence and taste. The coconut fried rice with crab meat served in a scooped out coconut is my new favorite dish. Service was impeccable. Delicious food, excellent service, live music on the weekends- you can't go wrong here. I also did take out for the garlic vegetables and octopus appetizer. The sauce in the garlic vegetable is fantastic.

We came on a date night and enjoyed our experience overall. This is a bit of a hidden gem, as the exterior looks like a random apartment or lease building... then you walk into an alternate world where it's suddenly a gorgeous restaurant! The service is good overall, host was super sweet. The server did keep coming by too quickly/too often, asking what else we want to order - so we definitely felt rushed. All the food we tried had really good flavor. Portions are on the small side, so you end up spending more than planned, but it's all very tasty. We would love to come by at a time when they have live music and hopefully not feel rushed.

My favorite restaurant in Austin hands down period. I never got the Asian fusion trend but my gosh 1618 changed my mind. I absolutely love this place and all the options they have here that caters to everyone cuisine and taste buds! It's great for dates, casual, big groups, and even fancy! It's an all in one. The ambiance is very nice. The service is prompt and the servers are always recommending great dishes. It's a monthly trip for me here!

If you're looking for a standout Asian fusion spot in Austin, 1618 Fusion absolutely delivers. We tried a wide range of items and there were some clear must-orders along with what I'd skip next time. First, the lychee martini is a must. It's delicious, well-balanced, and not overly sweet, plus it comes with a seedless lychee fruit which is a nice touch. For appetizers, the salt and pepper calamari is a must-get. It's perfectly crispy, super flavorful, and honestly so good I could've eaten multiple plates as my entire meal. Another standout was the pork xiao long bao. Easily one of my favorites I've had. The flavor is incredible on its own, but dipping it in their chili oil takes it to another level. We also ordered the tom yum kha soup with chicken. It was very good and the portion was surprisingly large for something listed as a side. It leans more coconut milk-forward than I personally prefer and isn't spicy, but still a solid choice. For entrees, the General Tso's was the only miss for me. It was crispy, but overall pretty average with not much flavor and no spice. The portion also felt smaller compared to our other dishes. I'd skip it next time. On the other hand, the crispy pad Thai with chicken is a must. Huge portion, packed with flavor, and I loved the addition of lots of veggies. The crispy noodles were done perfectly and gave a fun twist to a classic dish. For dessert, the flaming cheesecake is both an experience and delicious. It's lighter than a traditional cheesecake, and pairing it with the sauce and pineapple coconut ice cream makes it even better. The ambiance was also a highlight. We went on a Saturday evening and there was live music, which added a really nice, lively vibe without being overwhelming. The only downside was that there were some flying insects around at times, which was a bit distracting. Service was good and everything came out quickly. There's a parking garage nearby, but it can get busy during peak hours. Also, don't risk parking in spots reserved for other businesses, even if they look empty. We were told they do actively tow. Overall, I'd definitely come back, especially for the appetizers, crispy pad Thai, and that lychee martini!

The indoors is super nice. It was kind of hot I the restaurant though. We go seated next to a door that leads to the outside and my chair was like right there where the door was and I didn't think it would be an issue because it says "use other door" but it was the waitress and waiters that kept going in and out. It was super annoying. Besides all of that the food was really good. I enjoyed my filet mignon onion plate. The beef was so tender and it was coon to perfection. The flavors of the dish complimented it so well. The crispy pad Thai was really good as well. The chicken was flavorful. The scallop and shrimp dumplings were a surprise to use. We wanted to try something different and we really enjoyed the flavor of them.

I came here with a friend and had the vegan vegetable yellow curry, and it was so good. The veggies were incredibly fresh, and the oyster mushrooms added such a great texture and flavor. Everything tasted thoughtfully made and I loved the cute flower for presentation! We also ordered some tea, which came in the cutest little pot. Such a nice touch. I really appreciated how easy parking was too, both parking out front and a garage nearby, which is always a win in Austin. This place has an impressive variety of options. Tons of vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free choices, so it really feels like there's something for everyone. On top of that, the service was excellent. Everyone was so kind and welcoming. I definitely recommend 1618 Asian Fusion and will absolutely be going back.

The quality is consistent. The cheesecake is a must and the biggest highlight regardless of the meal time.

Beautiful holiday displays are still up

I had a late lunch today at 1618 Asian Fusion with a coworker. We originally planned to meet somewhere else, but that location was closed for an event, so we pivoted. The restaurant can be a little hard to spot from the street, but the GPS takes you right there. Street parking is limited, however there's a free parking garage directly behind the restaurant, which made things easy since it's a densely populated area. We arrived before happy hour and had no trouble finding seating. The building itself is beautiful, especially with the holiday décor. There's a white Christmas tree with white ornaments hanging from the ceiling, plus a more traditional Christmas tree in the main dining area. It felt festive without being over the top, even in the New Year. They offer several menus, including their regular dinner menu, a lunch menu, a vegan menu, and a non-vegan dim sum menu, which gives plenty of options depending on what you're in the mood for. We ordered the egg rolls, coconut fried rice with shrimp and crab, which came served in a fresh coconut and was absolutely stunning, and the sesame chicken. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. Our server was attentive and kind, checked in on us often, and still gave us the space we needed to conduct our meeting. My only critique is that the sesame chicken could've been cut into smaller, more bite-sized pieces. I was given a fork but no knife, which made it a little awkward to eat. We didn't order alcoholic drinks since we had to head back to work, but I've been here before during happy hour and really enjoyed their cocktails and appetizers. Overall, it's a great spot for a working lunch, date night or happy hour.

Okay I loved the food and ambiance here. It wasn't super fancy, but it definitely has a chic but casual vibe. Everything we ate was delicious. And the matcha espresso martini was a big hit. Service was good, a little slow at times due to our waiter seemingly waiting almost the entire dining room lol. I would definitely come back to try other menu items.

Beautiful upscale Asian fusion restaurant with great music and vibes for dinner date with your boo! Food was excellent all around and service was fantastic (thank you Chris!) But, the wait time on NYE to receive our food was steep. We received our main course 50 to 60 minutes after we sat down. This was the only concern - otherwise fabulous rubbery and seasoned octupus. Duck red curry was exceptional. Ask for a side of chili oil to add more spice. Pineapple fried rice is a must try, for not just the presentation, but the flavor too! Each food was 5/5. Cocktails are excellent too! Cheesecake presentation is amazing! You must try it!. Come hungry and ready to eat!

This is a new place in Austin I've been waiting to try and glad I got to with my family. We were all group of 5 and came on saturday around 2:30pm. It was fairly busy but the lunch rush was over and the servers seemed to be clearing tables of large groups so there was a small wait of 15-20 minutes for us before we were seated. Inside its decorated very well and I guess they have live music with a stage. When we were seated we were given menus and our server came over asking what drinks we'd like. We got some coffees and I got myself a egg coffee to try it. Presentation wise its served table side by someone. It tastes very different, creamy but I though the egg cream was supposed to be on the top but the server put it at the bottom and then poured coffee on top. It came with a chocolate biscuit which was nice as a dessert. We ordered chicken wings, pho XLB and lemongrass skewer, chicken pan fried dumplings and shumai. This was a tasting menu for all 5 of us and it was enough to hold us over until we ordered more. I ordered the skewer feast and grilled octopus and a second order of Pho XLB. This was the best pho XLB that I've ever tasted. The soup inside was so flavorful and smelled so great. There was a sauce plate that was brought out to us for everything we had and I appreciated that being brought out up front before the food. We ordered the fried rice just because we wanted something to round out the meal but I saw so many people get the beef rib pho and that made me want to order it but it was so much food. I'll have to come back and try it next time! I had great service but our servers switched out and the 2nd server was just average. He was probably taking care of some side jobs cause we kept looking for him but couldn't find him to get the bill so I had to ask another server to grab him to let us cash out. Total bill was $268. Our first server did autograt us for a party of 5 and I didn't see a notice anywhere saying parties of 5+ are subject to autograt but we still agreed to it.

We were able to flag down servers to help us get an extra plate, tea cups, etc. Got a variety of dim sum classics: hargow (shrimp dumpling), siu mai, rice noodles, custard buns, chicken feet, chow fun, egg tarts, soy sauce noodles, charsiu bao, turnip cake My favorites are the siu mai, chow fun and custard buns! They also have non-traditional dim sum dishes such as soup dumplings, which actually originated from Shanghai. We got them and they were ok. We ordered a second time to get more custard buns but it seemed they ran out so it took some time for them to make them fresh. When they finally came, the buns were not smooth and it really looks like the custard was about to burst. Someone bit into theirs and the custard exploded onto their shirt. However, we all had a good laugh and still enjoyed the food. Have to have tea during dim sum so we also got our puer and chrysanthemum tea mix. Not sure if they usually charge for this, but we got it complimentary! Yay! If you are familiar with dim sum, then you know these are smaller dishes meant to be shared among the group! Everybody ate and was satisfied. Each person paid about $25 after tip! There's a designated parking lot with lots of spots. If you are looking for a dim sum spot that is not too busy, this is the place to go to!

Ordering is through QR code and they did not know what order went to which table. They put food on our table and took it back to a different table TWICE. The good: the dim sum tasted legit. I'd recommend the shrimp rice roll. If service was better and their ordering system was more organized, this could be such a bomb place!

The vibe is modern: very bright, well lit, with the lion statues in the front, tea pots on the walls and clean spaces. The nice thing is you can order dim sum even when the push carts aren't going, which I personally think is better since it's fresh. My wife felt like she had a ratatouille type moment when she bit into the sesame balls and the deep fried mince turnover. I personally thought while the dim sum had a good fry, it was about average on the flavor and texture, but like I said, some others in our group thought it was excellent. On the other hand, the main entrees, I thought were stellar. The Sichuan green beans (despite this not being a Sichuan shop) were the best rendition of the dish of anywhere I've had in town - very good fry on the green beans with smoky wok hei, well seasoned with the pickled veg too. When your five year old opts to eat just this and rice, you know you got something special on your hand. The seafood fried noodle is also very good - tender squid, shrimp and veggies in the crunchy noodle nest is a great contrast in texture, as well as a lesson in simplicity. The peking pork ribs are also incredible - saucy, not overly sweet sauce clings to the riblets and gives you something incredible to gnaw on. I prefer it in pork chop form, but this is stellar as I think I've only had this one other place that was even remotely close. All in all, great place for Canto food in a town that doesn't have enough of it.

My food was hot and tasty, my Welcome To The Jungle drink was epic, and our server was pretty attentive. Thanks to reviews from fellow Yelpers like Steve W. and Samuel C., I felt confident suggesting Ling Wu to my friends and my girlfriend. I made a reservation for that Wednesday night at 7:00 pm, and by the time we arrived, the place was absolutely packed. There was a line of people waiting to be seated. I don't know if they were walk-ins or also had reservations, but thanks to ours, we were sat immediately with ease. I definitely recommend making a reservation. The interior of the building is beautiful, as is the patio with string lights and shrubbery. We sat inside, and the lowly lit atmosphere was excellent. All of the decor really makes the space feel cozy. Water is served in little mugs, and a paper mat is placed on the table because they know Austinites are messy. We all ordered drinks. Two people got a Kirin Light, one got a cocktail, and I ordered their mocktail Spritz. We also shared an appetizer of the Szechuan Spicy Cucumber, which arrived as an incredible tower of cucumber that was both fantastic and delicious. I lowkey ate half of the tower. My girlfriend ordered their soup dumplings, which were pretty good. Soup dumplings are not really my personal style, but everyone else at the table loved them. I was most excited for my entrée. I ordered the Orange Peel Akashi Beef with a side of brown rice, and honestly, it is some of the best Asian cuisine I've ever had. I've seen reviews complaining about the price point, but you can't compare a wagyu steak to Texas Roadhouse, and you can't compare a sit-down Asian restaurant to a Chinese buffet. This is clearly a step above. You don't have to fully dress the part, but this is practically fine dining. Top tier service, top tier atmosphere, and top tier food. This isn't a casual noodle shop, buddy. Overall, it's an excellent experience and definitely worth the steeper price tag. I recommend Ling Wu if you understand that sometimes you have to pay more for a higher quality meal. If you're not that type of person, grow up, because you're missing out on some of the best Asian food Austin has to offer. RIYL: A great meal with a great atmosphere

I ordered hot and sour pork soup. I had never had hot and sour soup with meat. Portions were generous, ingredients fresh, and the food arrived smoking hot. The noodles were soft, smooth and flavorful. The pork inside looked like tiny meatballs. The first thing I noticed when I walked in was the restaurant was completely full and customers were continuing to flow in. Because the restaurant is rather small, I had to wait about 20 minutes for my order. Jim, one of the owners, said if I had ordered 3 items it would take about 45 minutes, that's why I went with one. You could easily tell that many folks at the restaurant were regulars, which means the food, service or both were exceptional. Definitely will be returning to Three Gorges...

The cumin seeds give it that signature earthy, aromatic flavor and you get a slight tingly numbing spice sensation from the chilis and peppercorn. The lamb is not overly gamey, but it still does taste like lamb so if you are not really a lamb fan, I'd choose something else. - Jumping Fish: A very popular dish! Tender white fish fillets that is so soft it melts in your mouth. It is in a flavorful oil and broth that is refreshing from the fresh jalapenos. It is a savory dish, yet still relatively mild. It commes with napa cabbage as well! This was my favorite dish and I loved the flavor combined with the white rice. - Mapo Tofu (Vegetarian): They have one with pork as well, but I got the vegetarian version. Silky soft tofu cubes in that signature mapo tofu sauce and numbing peppercorns. Despite the appearance of all the dishes, none of them were very spicy. Overall, a comforting soft, spicy, savory dish with a slight tingle. - Eggplant in garlic sauce: A deliciously sweet and umami garlic sauce. The eggplants could have been a bit more cooked through in my opinion though since it was still quite firm. I loved it still! Note that all the dishes to me were not spicy just had an underlying subtle spice or tingle (like a finishing flavor note if you will). Also, since it is sichuan the dishes are on the oilier side. You order with the cashier at the front and pay up front as well. Food comes out quickly. It is a small space with three rows of tables (maybe around 12-15 tables give or take), so it does fill up fast. I went at around 5:40 PM on a Thursday and there was no wait, but by the time we finished eating at around 7PM, the restaurant was full. House of Three Gorges was hyped up a lot on my social media feed and through word of mouth, so I came in with high expectations. Luckily, they did not disappoint.

Absolutely insulting service, not because they were understaffed and in the weeds but because we were a family of five and only my wife was drinking while we were sandwiched between two tables that were going hard on the bottle service. They curtly took our order, dropped the food and we were never checked on again while our table filled with plates and our drinks needed refills (We had to flag someone down for chopsticks because they were so fast leaving after dropping the food). Then when they finally dropped our check, after we sat there and watched them ignore our table numerous times and considering just going straight to the front so we could leave, we went to settle up and I was entering our tip my son noticed that they had already autograted our check. For a family of five. No mention of this and we almost doubled tipped for absolute trash service. It seemed underhanded and added more insult to injury after such a mediocre experience. We used to think your rude waiters were novel and funny when the food and ambiance were fantastic but when the food quality drops, we all agreed the food was just ok, and we're treated poorly maybe we should have been paying more attention. It was a nice run Chinatown - my family has always loved you through the years, from the amazing Dim-Sum Sundays (pre-Covid) to our annual Christmas Eve dinner, but that was it. So long and goodbye.
