    Hakata Tonkotsu

I've been to Marufuku Ramen multiple times now, and it never disappoints! The staff there are always friendly and attentive, and the food is solid. Interior ambience is clean and modern, and you can see a bit of the kitchen and the different orders as they come out. This most recent time, we came by on a weekday evening and were seated almost immediately. Hakata Tonkotsu (4.5/5): - Comes with rich pork broth, chashu pork, soft boiled egg, kikurage mushrooms, bean sprouts. Big fan of the broth here in terms of richness and flavor. - Choice of spice level - I usually go with the medium! Feels like it adds just enough spice without being overpowering. - Of note, this order comes with thin noodles as default (vs. the Tan Tan Ramen, where the noodles are thicker) - something to keep in mind depending on your noodle preference. Overall, would highly recommend Marufuku if you're looking for a casual spot for ramen! The service is efficient as well. Depending on the day, parking can be a bit rough but there's usually validated parking available in the garages or (free) street parking if you're willing to walk a bit. Looking forward to visiting Marufuku again soon!

Came in on a Saturday right after opening and were greeted by kind staff. Very accommodating for those at our table that had allergies / questions about spice levels (in case we needed it more spicy, or had any concerns) Plenty of seating and enjoy the bar style opening where you can see the chef's cooking (and smell the food too!) Price for 3 wasn't too bad considering you're in the heart of Austin. Apps: the edamame was good. Salted but nothing crazy. Karaage was crunchy and still moist. Ramens: Tantan Men was a different noodle texture than the other style ramen. Good and easily distinguishable that it's a different outlook having ground chicken. The chicken Paitan and Hakata Pork ramen were so similar but I like that they let whatever flavor you pick shine. Like the pork flavor is noticeable in a good, clean way. The DX chicken leg was a massive bonus for being only $4 more. Good flavor, lots of meat and easily shareable. Don't let the ramen size bowls fool you. They don't skimp on quantity. I saw other customers bowl's come out and thought to myself "I'm gonna need to pay for extra noods" but boy was I wrong. That bowl is DEEP lol.

If you're looking for great ramen in Austin, Marufuku is definitely worth a visit. The restaurant was spotless, well organized, and had a really nice ambience with soft lighting--cozy but still bright enough to actually see your food, which is always a plus at a new spot. We ordered the pork belly tonkotsu DX and the chicken paitan DX, and both were incredible. The tonkotsu broth was rich and flavorful, and the chicken paitan was the real surprise--easily the best chicken ramen I've had in the Austin area. Amazing food, great atmosphere, and a spot I'll definitely be coming back to.

Took my Midwestern parents-in-law here since they've only ever had instant noodles and are not super adventurous with food. My husband and I were surprisingly delighted wheh they said they liked it and would get it again! Luckily it wasn't too busy on a Saturday afternoon on Valentine's Day so service was great! The broth was rich, the noodles were cooked al dente, and the meat was tender. Apps: marufuku bites, gyoza Entrees: hakata tonkotsu dx (no spicy and medium spicy) The floor to ceiling windows and Japandi-like interior felt very airy and light despite the cozy seating.

7/10 I ordered the Hakata Tonkotsu with extra spice on the side. The broth was actually really good, rich and flavorful, which was the highlight of the meal. You can tell they put effort into that part. That said, the rest was kind of underwhelming. The noodles were mediocre and didn't have the texture or bite I usually expect from good ramen. The egg was also disappointing, it didn't have much flavor and wasn't soaked in soy sauce like it typically is at most ramen spots, so it tasted pretty plain. Overall, the food wasn't bad, but it was just average. Nothing stood out enough to make me want to come back. With so many solid ramen options out there, this one didn't really hit for me.

Marufuku Ramen is located in a pretty hip shopping area in Austin, and we went on a Saturday night for dinner fully expecting it to be busy--which it was. We had a late lunch earlier in the day, so we didn't mind a later dinner or some waiting time. Parking deserves its own mini review. If you're willing to pay, street parking a few blocks away is easy enough and runs about $2/hour, which isn't bad at all. After reading other Yelp reviews, I tried to find the parking garage that Marufuku validates (up to 2 hours). I even called the restaurant to confirm, but all I got was "the one with the green sign" and something about "Ranch." Helpful-ish. For clarity: the actual garage is a nearby retail garage called Metropolis, very close to the restaurant. Rates there are also $2/hour, so even if the validation doesn't work, you're only out a few bucks. As we left our hotel, we hopped on Yelp to join the waitlist. Note that you have to be within a mile to do this so we had to wait until we were close. Around 7:00 pm, the quoted wait was over an hour. The waitlist system is well organized and easy to track in real time. We ended up getting seated around 8:15 pm for a party of four. Pretty close to the original estimate. Service was great overall. Our waiter was kind and attentive--nothing flashy, but definitely solid and professional. Food-wise, this place really shines. Ika karaage: Not my favorite dish personally, but still worth trying. I would have ordered the chicken karaage but we had fried chicken for lunch that day so opted for something else. Takoyaki: Absolutely spectacular, especially if you already like takoyaki. Ramen: Some of the best ramen I've had. You have to try their flagship Hakata Tonkotsu Ramen. If you're looking for something bursting with flavor and noodles with a nice chew, the Tantan Men is also excellent. We got both ramens with medium spice and it was just right. The only minor hiccup came at checkout. The waiter brought over an iPad and took my card tableside. Luckily, I checked the bill (which I usually don't if the waiter is holding an iPad waiting for your credit card) and noticed it was the wrong one--about double what I expected. I pointed it out, and he fixed it immediately. No hassle, no awkwardness, just interesting to mention. Pro tip: take a few seconds to check your bill. People make mistakes and you can be kind about it. One final tip: there's a QR code at the door for parking validation, so don't miss that on your way out. Also, the Metropolis parking website is kind of janky--it kept spinning and blanking out for me--but it eventually worked. The validation ended up working (the 75 minute wait plus the 45 minute meal - made it just in time). Bottom line: if you want really good ramen and don't mind a little parking inconvenience, Marufuku Ramen is absolutely worth it. If you want better ramen, go to Japan.

I crave this bowl at least once a week. It's so creamy, so flavorful, so rich and perfect amount of spicy. Always a quick in and out.

We just moved to the area and decided to find the closest ramen spot. As soon as we arrived we saw many people waiting outside and I thought oh we must have found a good spot. I'm happy to say it lived up to the hype. We had about a 35 minute wait but you can just join the waitlist on Yelp whenever you are ready to go so you can save some time waiting. The restaurant is intimate but you don't feel overcrowded. The ramen broth is so flavorful and the spice level is great. You have the options on spice level though if you don't want it spicy. My ratings on food below. Pirikari chicken bites - 8/10, great crunch on the chicken and nice kick. The sauce was a little too sweet for me but overall still a nice bite Hakata Tonkotsu- 10/10, this broth shined so flavorful and creamy. My husband got this one and loved it. He ordered it medium spice. Chicken Paitan - 10/10, this was so good! Chicken was so tender and perfectly cooked noodles. I will be back for this again. I ordered this medium spice.

Rating: 3.7/5 [dine in] Service here was great, even with the chaos of the BOGO deal. We first came on a Thursday night and they told us they couldn't guarantee seating after 7:30 PM because of how busy it gets. We learned it's best to come early and put your name on the waitlist ahead of time. Once they text you that your table is ready, you only have a five minute grace period, so you'll want to be close by. We came back on Sunday, the last day of the BOGO, around 1:30 PM. By then most of the ramen options were already sold out and only the tonkatsu and paitan were available. The bowls felt smaller than expected and the toppings were a little lacking, but they were still filling. We've had Marufuku before in California and this location just didn't compare. Chicken Paitan ($16): I wanted the vegetable ramen but since they were out, I asked if I could get spinach noodles instead. They were able to make that change, which I appreciated, though the soup didn't coat the noodles very well. The chicken itself was delicious, the broth had a strong chicken umami, and the soft boiled egg was also good. If you love chicken for the soul, this bowl is for you. Hakata Tonkatsu ($16): The broth was missing some depth and while the flavors were fine, the chashu wasn't tender and leaned on the dry side. I'm also not a fan of thin ramen noodles so this wasn't my favorite. Ika Karaage ($9.50): Japanese style fried squid. I didn't enjoy this dish at all since it had a very strong squid taste and didn't seem fresh. For drinks, they were out of the Mueller Mule and Tokyo Tea, but I tried the Lychee Calpico Margarita ($14) and loved it! It's tequila-based but not heavy at all. It's the perfect afternoon sip --refreshing, sweet, and perfect to balance out the heaviness of the ramen.

4.5 Stars - A solid ramen spot in Mueller. They have cocktails and beer and such - the Lychee Margarita ($14) is sweet and yummy. I tried the Takoyaki ($7), Chicken Paitan ($16), Mentaiko Bowl ($7.5), and Chashu Bowl ($8.5). The Takoyaki is excellent - it is warm, crispy on the outside, and fried fresh. For entrees - stick with the ramen for sure. The broth is absolutely delicious and the noodles are the thin kind. The egg is perfectly soft boiled and the protein comes in decently sized slices. Not many restaurants do chicken ramen well, but Marufuku nailed it. The rice bowls were yummy but the protein amount is pretty light, especially with the mentaiko.

I'm a regular at Marufuku. Their Chicken Paitan ramen is my personal favorite, and my husband enjoys their tonkotsu. The broth is rich and creamy. Hits the spot when you want a hot and comforting meal. I like that they use thinner style noodles. The egg is perfectly soft boiled with a jammy yolk in the center. Their appetizers are also great; you can't go wrong with an order of chicken karaage or ika karaage. Recently they did a BOGO ramen deal, and the line to get in was long but moved quickly. They will validate your parking in the garage nearby.

Got lucky and stopped by during their first-time promo BOGO ramen! What a great find. We tried the 3 ramens: vegetable ramen, hakata tonkotsu, and chicken paitan. Plus some sides: takoyaki, squid, and a seasonal soba noodle dish. Everything was flavorful, rich, and beautifully balanced, the kind of broth you actually want to finish. We paired it all with hot sake, which made it even better. Service was quick and friendly, and the place had a clean, cozy vibe that felt welcoming. Honestly, I'd come back even without the promo!

Surprisingly took me so long to try this place when it's not too far away. With no reservations allowed the wait times and lack of waiting area makes it tough. Ended up just catching 2 seats at the bar while still on waitlist. The pork buns and fried chicken appetizers were so good! And got the spicy chicken ramen (tan tan) + corn. Everything was a 5/5. Can either be casual or dress it up if you want, either way it's a cozy vibe.

The flavors were really good and better than the MI-SO-HOT. The only complaint about the broth was that it wasn't warm or hot. The noodles were bouncy and thick like udon, which I loved. They only gave one slice of chashu, which was disappointing, so I'm glad we added the extra Goma Pork/Sesame Seasoned Ground Pork ($2.50) and Naruto Maki ($1.50). We got one Austin roll ($22), volcano roll ($15), creamy spicy tan tan ramen ($20), teriyaki sesame tofu yakisoba ($20). I have had their sushi and yakisoba but tried their ramen for first time. I was impressed with their packaging. As you can see in picture, veggies and noodles box was on top and soup at bottom. The only thing I didn't like how noodles became very sticky because of how tight they were packed. So I got it as cold (because I live 30 mins away) and sticky. Ramen came with all the veggies like grilled Chinese broccoli, tofu, sweet corn, marinated shiitake mushrooms, red onions and negi.
