Shrimp Har Gow, siu mai, turnip cake, and Steamed Dumpling

I have visited Jade a couple of times in the past and I used to think that this restaurant was one of the better dim sum restaurants in the Austin area; however, the quality isn't worth 5 star anymore. The did offer the traditional cart-style dim sum where they serve dim sum to each table in rolling carts - the Saturday that I went only had a few people during lunch time and probably why they didn't offer that anymore. I was surprised by the lack of customers during the peak lunch hours. In terms of food, the shrimp dumplings and steam dumplings were still solid choices, but the Sui mai doesn't really taste all that great - it's a bit plain and not enough ingredients. It's a bit unfortunate since there are better and newer dim sum places in Austin now, probably won't return anytime soon.

Disgraceful Beef Chow Fun, soaking wet and too salted.

Very disappointing Sunday lunch with two entrees and dim sum. Beef chow fon was overly wet and salted. Shrimp in lobster sauce was like a boring soup. Shrimp balls and pork wontons in hot chili sauce were good, but other dim sum were ordinary. Felt like a wasted meal.

An Asian hidden gem in Westlake! I love eating family style and this place is perfect for that! Big or small group this is a great place. The menu is extensive and of the 8 dishes I ordered with my friend I loved basically 80% of them which is a win! I would definitely say this is authentic Chinese food (I'm Vietnamese but to me it's good lol). They offer Vietnamese food also and I recommend the shaken beef if you never had it and their chicken basil dumpling! I love the shrimp balls also! My gosh I can't wait to take my family here when they come to visit!

We went here for Christmas dim sum which tradition we started in Connecticut and continued in Texas. The food was delicious hot some of the best dims of the I had outside of Canada. It was traditional food carts, so the food was hot and fresh and continuously coming out of the kitchen May for a great Christmas experience coming back in March. Look forward to bringing some friends to enjoy this experience. Had a very good time.

I wrote previous review as a to-go experience, but recently went to the restaurant for dim sum dine-in. Following New Fortune, Jade Restaurant has become the new best Dim Sum in Austin. The space is smaller and they don't have the carts that walk around, but ordering a la carte actually feels more streamlined. And sure, there are fancier dim sum fusion options in Austin, but this is the more traditional dim sum menu. The drive is a bit further from central Austin, but would recommend trying this place out if you want dim sum!

We are from California visiting relatives in Austin and had a while to kill. Saw Jade on google and decided to try out for lunch. What a treat...had potstickers pan fried, bbq pork buns and Mongolian beef. Everything was outstanding!!! Beauty interior and friendly staff!!! Would highly recommend!!

Staff was very kind!! I don't eat gluten but the rest of my table did and staff was very helpful with gluten free options as well as most of their food they could make gluten free!! Would definitely go again

Sadly the quality has gone down over the years. I dont think they have a chef on staff anymore. Just cooks because the authenticity of the food shows. I got the combination pan fried noodle and it didn't come with gravy on top like how it should. Instead it has this dark soy all over it and just overall not appetizing. The beef chow fun had a weird texture. I don't think they cooked it enough. I'll be taking a break from Jade.

Came in during opening on a Sunday. They were already out of one of the dim sum items. Service was really quick and most of the food came out quickly. Soup dumpling were a bit small and not so soupy. Pork ribs were really chewy, would not recommend. Chinese broccoli, bao buns, spicy wontons were all good. Really great prices. Fed 3 people for around $80

The Chinese Sticky Rice is always a favorite. Also ordered the Truffle Egg Fried rice and Birds Nest with Seasonal Vegetable. The Truffle rice is so flavorful like a flavor explosion in your mouth. The Birds Nest is made with fried potato shreds which contain the a variety of vegetables including cauliflower, peppers, mushrooms and asparagus. The nest is also edible and has a crunchy texture. Toilet seat opened up automatically when I came up to it. And the paper towels were luxuriously thick and soft, not the cheap stuff. Our server was attentive, accommodating , and understanding. We told her of our special needs and she answered our questions. We all ordered from their lunch menu- which included choice of soup and steamed rice. I ordered the crispy shrimp with jalapeños. The service has improved slightly, with us being so close to the kitchen. We were able to flag down servers to help us get an extra plate, tea cups, etc. Got a variety of dim sum classics: hargow (shrimp dumpling), siu mai, rice noodles, custard buns, chicken feet, chow fun, egg tarts, soy sauce noodles, charsiu bao, turnip cake My favorites are the siu mai, chow fun and custard buns! They also have non-traditional dim sum dishes such as soup dumplings, which actually originated from Shanghai. We got them and they were ok. We ordered a second time to get more custard buns but it seemed they ran out so it took some time for them to make them fresh. When they finally came, the buns were not smooth and it really looks like the custard was about to burst. Someone bit into theirs and the custard exploded onto their shirt. However, we all had a good laugh and still enjoyed the food. Have to have tea during dim sum so we also got our puer and chrysanthemum tea mix. Not sure if they usually charge for this, but we got it complimentary! Yay! If you are familiar with dim sum, then you know these are smaller dishes meant to be shared among the group! Everybody ate and was satisfied. Each person paid about $25 after tip! There's a designated parking lot with lots of spots. Dim sum was the only choice, and New Fortune II delivered in every sense of the word. What we ordered: - Crystal shrimp dumpling (har gow) - Shrimp and pork dumpling (siu mai) - Steamed BBQ pork bun (char siu bao) - Steamed rice noodle roll with shrimp (cheung fun) - Vietnamese shaking beef - Stir-fried flat rice noodles with beef (dry chow fun) - Salt and pepper shrimp -- went incredibly fast, should have doubled this - Sautéed water spinach with chili and fermented bean - Sautéed Chinese broccoli with garlic - Szechuan style green beans - House special fried rice Every dish held up beautifully in our buffet setup. Impressive given the transport. The salt-and-pepper shrimp and water spinach were the runaway crowd favorites. Both platters were empty within the first 20 minutes, which tells you everything. Eric walked us through sizing and timing with patience and real expertise, which made the whole execution feel effortless. We called ahead to confirm, paid by card, picked up at 6 pm sharp. The vibe is modern: very bright, well lit, with the lion statues in the front, tea pots on the walls and clean spaces. The nice thing is you can order dim sum even when the push carts aren't going, which I personally think is better since it's fresh. My wife felt like she had a ratatouille type moment when she bit into the sesame balls and the deep fried mince turnover. I personally thought while the dim sum had a good fry, it was about average on the flavor and texture, but like I said, some others in our group thought it was excellent. On the other hand, the main entrees, I thought were stellar. The Sichuan green beans (despite this not being a Sichuan shop) were the best rendition of the dish of anywhere I've had in town - very good fry on the green beans with smoky wok hei, well seasoned with the pickled veg too. When your five year old opts to eat just this and rice, you know you got something special on your hand. The seafood fried noodle is also very good - tender squid, shrimp and veggies in the crunchy noodle nest is a great contrast in texture, as well as a lesson in simplicity. The peking pork ribs are also incredible - saucy, not overly sweet sauce clings to the riblets and gives you something incredible to gnaw on. I prefer it in pork chop form, but this is stellar as I think I've only had this one other place that was even remotely close. All in all, great place for Canto food in a town that doesn't have enough of it.

Thanks to reviews from fellow Yelpers like Steve W. and Samuel C., I felt confident suggesting Ling Wu to my friends and my girlfriend. I made a reservation for that Wednesday night at 7:00 pm, and by the time we arrived, the place was absolutely packed. There was a line of people waiting to be seated. I don't know if they were walk-ins or also had reservations, but thanks to ours, we were sat immediately with ease. I definitely recommend making a reservation. The interior of the building is beautiful, as is the patio with string lights and shrubbery. We sat inside, and the lowly lit atmosphere was excellent. All of the decor really makes the space feel cozy. Water is served in little mugs, and a paper mat is placed on the table because they know Austinites are messy. We all ordered drinks. Two people got a Kirin Light, one got a cocktail, and I ordered their mocktail Spritz. We also shared an appetizer of the Szechuan Spicy Cucumber, which arrived as an incredible tower of cucumber that was both fantastic and delicious. I lowkey ate half of the tower. My girlfriend ordered their soup dumplings, which were pretty good. Soup dumplings are not really my personal style, but everyone else at the table loved them. I was most excited for my entrée. I ordered the Orange Peel Akashi Beef with a side of brown rice, and honestly, it is some of the best Asian cuisine I've ever had. I've seen reviews complaining about the price point, but you can't compare a wagyu steak to Texas Roadhouse, and you can't compare a sit-down Asian restaurant to a Chinese buffet. This is clearly a step above. You don't have to fully dress the part, but this is practically fine dining. Top tier service, top tier atmosphere, and top tier food. This isn't a casual noodle shop, buddy. Overall, it's an excellent experience and definitely worth the steeper price tag. I recommend Ling Wu if you understand that sometimes you have to pay more for a higher quality meal. If you're not that type of person, grow up, because you're missing out on some of the best Asian food Austin has to offer. RIYL: A great meal with a great atmosphere

The cumin seeds give it that signature earthy, aromatic flavor and you get a slight tingly numbing spice sensation from the chilis and peppercorn. The lamb is not overly gamey, but it still does taste like lamb so if you are not really a lamb fan, I'd choose something else. - Jumping Fish: A very popular dish! Tender white fish fillets that is so soft it melts in your mouth. It is in a flavorful oil and broth that is refreshing from the fresh jalapenos. It is a savory dish, yet still relatively mild. It commes with napa cabbage as well! This was my favorite dish and I loved the flavor combined with the white rice. - Mapo Tofu (Vegetarian): They have one with pork as well, but I got the vegetarian version. Silky soft tofu cubes in that signature mapo tofu sauce and numbing peppercorns. Despite the appearance of all the dishes, none of them were very spicy. Overall, a comforting soft, spicy, savory dish with a slight tingle. - Eggplant in garlic sauce: A deliciously sweet and umami garlic sauce. The eggplants could have been a bit more cooked through in my opinion though since it was still quite firm. I loved it still! Note that all the dishes to me were not spicy just had an underlying subtle spice or tingle (like a finishing flavor note if you will). Also, since it is sichuan the dishes are on the oilier side. You order with the cashier at the front and pay up front as well. Food comes out quickly. It is a small space with three rows of tables (maybe around 12-15 tables give or take), so it does fill up fast. I went at around 5:40 PM on a Thursday and there was no wait, but by the time we finished eating at around 7PM, the restaurant was full. House of Three Gorges was hyped up a lot on my social media feed and through word of mouth, so I came in with high expectations. Luckily, they did not disappoint.

Then when they finally dropped our check, after we sat there and watched them ignore our table numerous times and considering just going straight to the front so we could leave, we went to settle up and I was entering our tip my son noticed that they had already autograted our check.
