The food here is authentic and delicious. I've eaten here a few times and will definately be back!

Try for yourself!

Coming from Vietnamese background, I can assure you this spot is definitely top tier when it comes to authentic Vietnamese taste. Food came out maybe 5-10 mins and let me tell you I was right back in my grandmas kitchen eating her banh mi. Service was swift and the worker is very sweet and friendly.

The…read moreThai basil leaves were absolutely ginormous, and they gave us plenty of them alongside very fresh limes, which I appreciated. The bowl itself came loaded with meat--they definitely weren't skimping to save money here. The meat-to-noodle ratio felt great, and every bite actually had substance instead of leaving me fishing around for toppings. As for the broth, I landed somewhere in the middle. It wasn't quite as clear or light as I personally prefer, leaning toward a fattier, milkier undertone that almost reminded me of a Vietnamese pho take on tonkotsu. The flavor itself was undeniably very good, but the richness may have been a bit too much for me personally. One way I usually judge how much I love a pho broth is whether I want to sip the bowl down to the very end, and this one wasn't quite light enough for me to want to do that. I've had richer and deeper pho flavors elsewhere, but I still appreciated the flavor profile here and could absolutely see why this place is so popular. It feels hearty, comforting, and satisfying in a way that clearly resonates with many people. Despite how packed the restaurant was, the atmosphere ended up being surprisingly pleasant. Service moved very quickly, which honestly impressed me given how busy everything felt. Even with the crowd, I didn't dislike the spacing or setup at all--the restaurant still felt comfortable, and the sound of people enjoying their food all around added to the lively, welcoming energy rather than making it feel overwhelming. Overall, Pho Phong Lưu ended up being one of those places where I completely understood the hype, even if it didn't become my personal favorite pho spot. While the broth leaned richer than my preference, I still enjoyed the experience and definitely look forward to trying other dishes next time.

But it also has egg and scallions and pate; overall the combo is satisfying. Separate from takeout, we decided to go for an early dinner. Their Crab Vermicelli Stir Fry is surprisingly sweet, with sweetness as a prominent flavor. It features plenty of crab bits. I also grabbed a Skillet Combo. It came with two runny side up eggs, pate, two types of cured pork, beef gravy, and a handful of cilantro. The baguette came on the side, as did the mixed salad of lettuce and tomato. The salad had some dried shrimp, fish sauce, and a slightly sweet dressing. The restaurant itself is located in the Chinatown Center on N Lamar. It's a small corner shop. Lots of mirrors and glass. The staff are friendly enough. Unfortunately, they've closed, and it looks like another restaurant will be opening up in its place. The situation leaves me unsure about where to go to satisfy savory sticky rice cravings.

You place your order at the front before being seated, which was an easy process. The staff was friendly, and the food came out quickly. I ordered the Bun Bo Hue, and my husband ordered the Sip Pho. Both broths were rich and flavorful. The portions were generous, and they definitely did not skimp on the meat. My Bun Bo Hue came with a beef rib that was tender and delicious. One unique thing was the noodles in the Sip pho bowl--they were slightly thicker than vermicelli, which was different but not a big deal. For drinks, I ordered the Matcha Green Thai Tea. It had an interesting flavor combination, but the matcha taste was a bit overpowered by the green Thai tea. It was still enjoyable, though slightly too floral and sweet for my personal preference. The prices were very reasonable, and they offered a great variety of pho, vermicelli bowls, rice dishes, and appetizers. Next time I visit, I'd love to try the egg rolls since I noticed many people ordering them. The only downside was parking. There are about six spots in front of the restaurant, with additional parking in the back. It was a little difficult to find a spot, likely because we visited on a weekend. Overall, I would definitely come back again.

Not sure what's the yellow part and why the beef is so rough. Ambiance is fine. The little fan decoration on the ceiling is cute. Disappointed at the food.

I've been to this place many times and every time, I love it!…read more First of all, I just love coming here the seating and the space is so relaxing and such a perfect place to eat and talk. And honestly it's better than any fancy restaurant out there. I love the amount of plants in the space and the TV plays cooking videos and it's so nice to watch while waiting for your food! Speaking of waiting for your food, the food comes out super quick! Within 1 minute of ordering my drink, it came out! And a couple minutes after follows the food. The service is amazing as well, the servers are super sweet and are very quick to serve you and get what you need. The menu offers a bunch of things, appetizers, main dishes, desserts, and the drinks! I love how the desserts and drinks are also Vietnamese (most of the time I notice restaurants tend to have the basic selection of fountain drinks and desserts, but this restaurant has a wide variety of drinks and desserts so you can try something new every time you come here!) Most of all, there's a bunch of vegan dishes which I absolutely love. The food is always delicious I've been trying the vegan dishes recently and I love them a lot (as someone who doesn't like vegan dishes normally)! The chicken pho is also so delicious it tastes better than I make it at home! So much flavor. The drinks are so good as well. They also give you a big portion and I normally have leftovers, but the portion size is amazing for the price that you pay. It's definitely more affordable and such a bang for your buck. This is definitely a spot to try and trust me, you'll probably fall in love! If I was an Austin tourist I would definitely hit up this restaurant. I could go on and on about this restaurant.

I had the bun rieu (noodle soup with a pork based broth, tender spare rib, crab cake, and tomato) while hubby had the bu luc lac (beef cubes cooked over a high flame with lemongrass, onions, and garlic spices. Served over lettuce and tomatoes with a side of salt & pepper lime dipping sauce). We ordered the lemongrass stir fry vermicelli (lemongrass stir-fry on top of vermicelli bowls filled with fresh herbs, shredded lettuce, cucumber, pickled carrots, and crushed peanuts. Served with a side of house sauce with chili and pickled carrot) for our child and didn't realize it was spicy. She ended up downing an entire glass of water and couldn't finish her meal. The bun rieu broth was lacking in flavor and there were barely any crab cake pieces. It was disappointing since it looked like it was one of the top mentioned dishes on Yelp. The bu luc lac was decent and hubby enjoyed his dish. For dessert I tried to order che ba mau (coconut milk poured over layers of sweet mung beans, soft red kidney beans, green pandan jelly, and crushed ice) but was told that they didn't have the ingredients to make any of their shaved ice desserts.

My boyfriend and I came here because of the great reviews, but unfortunately our visit was nothing like we expected. From the moment we walked in, the experience was disappointing. The host literally pointed to our table instead of walking us to it, which immediately felt unwelcoming. No one introduced themselves or even told us who our server was, so we never knew anyone's name throughout the entire meal. Throughout our meal, no one checked on us even once, and we had to flag our waiter down multiple times whenever we needed something. Plates and drinks were also repeatedly slammed down on the table, which came across as rude and unprofessional. Every interaction felt rushed, and the staff acted like they were annoyed we were there. The customer service was awful, and it made for a really unpleasant first experience. Unfortunately, we won't be coming back.
