Saigon 512 is amongst the top rated Vietnamese restaurants in the Austin-Metro area! I've been coming here occasionally the past few years (before and after their renovation) and leave satisfied every time. I uploaded their recent menu items as they have a new staff and are still in the process of training them to serve their whole menu again. My personal favorites that I get on rotation each time I come are the Banh Cuon w/ Pork (Vietnamese Rice Cake), Large Banh Xeo (w/ no squid), and Com Ga Di Bo (Rice Plate w/ Boiled Chicken). I always order a side of Goi Cuon Nem Nuong with my respective entree as well. The Sugar Cane Juice is absolutely delicious, fresh, and not too sweet. The service here is always friendly, attentive, and timely. Nice relaxing atmosphere with television and restaurant music for your dining experience. My husband and I just moved to Austin and were craving some pho! We came here to check it out due to all the good reviews on yelp. I ordered their pho with meatball and 2 orders of their beef on the side. Their pho only has one size which I assume is their large, cuz it's huge! It comes with 3 meats of your choosing. I thought I ate a ton, but when I was close to full, it looked like I didn't eat any at all. My husband ordered their B1 grilled pork and fried eggroll vermicelli bowl. Safe to say, this place has texas sized portions! We will definitely be back cuz I always crave pho when it's rainy season. The best authentic Vietnamese restaurant. The location is excellent for those living North Austin\Round Rock area. No need to deal with traffic going down south if you live around near Dell area. This restaurant was closed for months but we didn't notice any renovation as a result. This is another restaurant where you see Vietnamese families eating so you know this joint is legit. I've had the bun bo hue and the bun rieu here. Both are excellent. I have them hold the pork blood though. The Bahn Xeo crispy and filled with savory pork, shrimp, squid, and bean sprouts. First time at a Texan Vietnamese place, so temper reading my review with that in mind. Greeting was warm and friendly the moment I opened the door. Being a Sunday morning, I was the first one in, but the large, airy place gradually filled. I ordered my usual Pho with everything. And as they had sugar cane juice, I ordered up one of that too. The pho was huge. The soup was very hot, which helped to cook the raw slices that is necessary in a good pho to help flavor the broth. But the broth was so sweet that I had to take off a star and leave all the soup behind while I was eating the noodles. There was also a lot of meat. The balance of amount was definitely weighed towards the premium cuts although I prefer the cheaper tendon and tripe. Good for value and those who prefer meat. All the beef was very flavorful with good mouth feel. The raw slices cooked up beautifully tender. The sugarcane juice was a highlight. Delightfully fresh and delicious! Not sure if it was their off day on the day we went but their noodle soup items were not good. As a Vietnamese born and raised in Vietnam for 18 years, my standard for Vietnamese food is high. We tried this place after reading many positive reviews and we were disappointed. Bun Bo Hue and Bun Rieu don't have their own unique flavor as they're supposed to have. They seem to use the same broth for both and only add shrimp paste and some lemongrass in Bun Bo Hue. Bun Rieu doesn't have the subtle tanginess of the tomatoes and no crab aroma. My mom got Bun Rieu and had to squeeze a bunch of lime wedges in the broth. The only great thing about Bun Bo Hue is that they're very generous with the meat. You will have meat in every spoon and still have it until the last spoon. My husband and sister got Beef Pho - the pho broth is so sweet. Their menu has a lot of options for Chinese and Thai dishes, which is kind of a red flag to me. Sometimes the less, the better. Sticking to just Vietnamese cuisine and doing it well is much better than adding multiple options from different cuisines. Service is ok. They're efficient and do their job to take orders, bring your food out, and that's it. Don't expect them to come around and check if everything is ok. If you need anything, just ask. There's one lady that is very nice and sweet. The restaurant is bright and clean with lots of tables. I'd recommend them changing the music - they played all the very sad and heart broken Vietnamese songs in instrumental the day we were there. Usually Pho from the south has a sweeter taste than from the North (I'm from the South), but this one is just too sweet and lacking in fragrant. The only save was the portion size. The staff is super sweet and there is always ample parking and open tables inside. I can only speak to the PHO, as that is what I have recurrent purchased. The broth has had an 'off' flavor. It doesn't have the spice flavor profile I would expect. Granted, the bone broth may be different if offal meats/tendon etc are used in preparation. To a western palate it can border on gamey tasting, though i haven't tasted pho broth that is similarly muddy tasting. This is my go to place for Vietnamese food in Round Rock, TX. When I eat at the restaurant I usually get the Canh Chua, a sour fish soup traditionally with catfish. I love how sour the soup is and the big filets of catfish they give you. I recently ordered take out from this place and loved the bun thit nuong, I had mixed feelings about the pad Thai. The flavor of the thing nuong was good and the vegetables were pickled well. The Pad Thai was a little too sweet and the noodles were very thick for pad Thai. read more

I was craving some very specific Vietnamese dishes and this place satisfied! The banh bot chien was nice and crispy, cooked to perfection. The canh chua had a balanced flavor and was a hefty portion even for a small. The bo luc lac was not as tender as I'd like, but that's because the beef cubes were a little large and more a medium temp, which was a nice treat. The sauce was the perfect sweetness. Easy to see why this place is rated so very well and loved by many! It was a little busy for mid Sunday afternoon but we were greeted right away with smiles and Sat immediately with extensive menus in hand. The "Special" menu listed one of the items we ended up ordering and I cannot recall the exact name of the dish but I have it pictured here and it was explained as "Dry Pho" with crispy rice cakes and stewed beef in a delicious pho-like gravy it was accompanied by a small bowl of pho meatball. We also had a bowl of pho with choice of up to 3 meats and chose brisket, rare steak, and meatballs. All of it was amazing! Woahh Bun Rieu was very well flavored! Not bland at all like some of the reviews said. There was also blood sausage in there. The mini banh xeo was interesting because it's not your typical normal banh xeo crepe. Definitely crispier but didn't have as many toppings/not as thick as the original. Although the place had a nice crowd, almost 80% occupancy, we were seated right away and able to check their extensive menu. Service was great and the food quality was good. Spicy Hunan (Shrimp) I generally prefer dishes prepared in this fashion as they are well known for their hot and spicy flavors, fresh aroma, and deep colors. I also prefer this style more so than Szechuan-prepared dishes as they have a less spicy flavor, and are usually only protein-based dishes with peppers. The dish served here was made with broccoli, carrots, mushrooms, snow peas, and cabbage. Although I did appreciate the plump shrimp in this dish, it missed the mark for me on a spiciness level. As a lover of spice, I would not order this dish if I came to this establishment again. Flan Cake This flan with Boba is a twist on the classic flan dish. The milk used for this dessert is infused with coconut to give it a familiar flavor and served with soft chewy boba. This flan cake is the ultimate flan recipe for coconut lovers and of all things sweet! Overall, the service here was prompt and friendly and the establishment has a nice aesthetic. Found my new favorite Vietnamese restaurant in Austin! This place serves some traditional Vietnamese dishes that's hard to find in other pho places. Some of the dishes we tried are definitely close to what I've had when visiting Vietnam. Their Bahn Cuon and Bahn Xeo was really good.
