The best authentic Vietnamese restaurant. The location is excellent for those living North Austin\Round Rock area. No need to deal with traffic going down south if you live around near Dell area. This restaurant was closed for months but we didn't notice any renovation as a result. This is another restaurant where you see Vietnamese families eating so you know this joint is legit. I've had the bun bo hue and the bun rieu here. Both are excellent. I have them hold the pork blood though. The Bahn Xeo crispy and filled with savory pork, shrimp, squid, and bean sprouts. This is another dish you should not miss here. Get the large size as it seems to have more surface area for the crispiness.
Came here specifically for the bahn khot and it did not disappoint. It was perfectly crispy without being oily, better than the bahn xeo I have tried elsewhere. Also had the grilled pork and egg roll vermicelli which was delicious as well. Looking forward to coming back and trying more things on the menu the next time I'm in town.
First time at a Texan Vietnamese place, so temper reading my review with that in mind. Greeting was warm and friendly the moment I opened the door. Being a Sunday morning, I was the first one in, but the large, airy place gradually filled. I ordered my usual Pho with everything. And as they had sugar cane juice, I ordered up one of that too. The pho was huge. The soup was very hot, which helped to cook the raw slices that is necessary in a good pho to help flavor the broth. But the broth was so sweet that I had to take off a star and leave all the soup behind while I was eating the noodles. There was also a lot of meat. The balance of amount was definitely weighed towards the premium cuts although I prefer the cheaper tendon and tripe. Good for value and those who prefer meat. All the beef was very flavorful with good mouth feel. The raw slices cooked up beautifully tender. The sugarcane juice was a highlight. Delightfully fresh and delicious! If you've never had juice from a stick before, you need to try this!
I ordered delivery from Saigon 512 tonight. Everything came out beautifully. Hot, fresh, lots of veggies, and herbs. Loved the portion sizes. The spring rolls with tofu were tasty. The peanut sauce was great. The Pinapple fried rice had tons of flavor. My husband enjoyed the orange beef so much! We would absolutely order from here again and again.
Not sure if it was their off day on the day we went but their noodle soup items were not good. As a Vietnamese born and raised in Vietnam for 18 years, my standard for Vietnamese food is high. We tried this place after reading many positive reviews and we were disappointed. Bun Bo Hue and Bun Rieu don't have their own unique flavor as they're supposed to have. They seem to use the same broth for both and only add shrimp paste and some lemongrass in Bun Bo Hue. Bun Rieu doesn't have the subtle tanginess of the tomatoes and no crab aroma. My mom got Bun Rieu and had to squeeze a bunch of lime wedges in the broth. The only great thing about Bun Bo Hue is that they're very generous with the meat. You will have meat in every spoon and still have it until the last spoon. My husband and sister got Beef Pho - the pho broth is so sweet. Their menu has a lot of options for Chinese and Thai dishes, which is kind of a red flag to me. Sometimes the less, the better. Sticking to just Vietnamese cuisine and doing it well is much better than adding multiple options from different cuisines. Service is ok. They're efficient and do their job to take orders, bring your food out, and that's it. Don't expect them to come around and check if everything is ok. If you need anything, just ask. There's one lady that is very nice and sweet. The restaurant is bright and clean with lots of tables. I'd recommend them changing the music - they played all the very sad and heart broken Vietnamese songs in instrumental the day we were there. You may want to try their non soup items if you visit this place.
Okay, I came back to try other dishes and was pretty disappointed. Pho: Huge portion with lots of meat and noodles. However, the broth... it was sweet! Usually Pho from the south has a sweeter taste than from the North (I'm from the South), but this one is just too sweet and lacking in fragrant. The only save was the portion size. Bun Rieu: We also Bun Bo Hue and clearly they used the same broth for both dishes, which was very disappointing considering how different they should taste. Sliced pork (which is shouldn't to be in bun rieu), cha, rieu, and 2 pieces of boiled tomato that I feel like they just toss it in there. Bland and pretty sad Quick service, nice people. If you're Viet, you will be disappointed to have their Pho and Bun Rieu
My hidden gem! This is authentic Viet comfort food for a reasonable price. Never a long line and the food comes out so fast and fresh. The staff is kind and the ingredients taste high quality. A great option for casual Asian food. Will continue coming here regularly!
Love their food. The only thing I have problem with is why do they have problems with even when I other food Togo in Vietnamese and they still gets it wrong or just want to make more and charge more which I don't want certain things because I don't like specific certain things. Please don't put it in and charge it. Not the first time. Still going but. I keep telling them.
I appreciated they have some of the most authentic Viet dishes on their menu and I think they might be the only restaurant doing it alright in the area. We ordered Bot Chien and Bun Dau Mam Tom. Food was ok, not exceptional but still pretty ok with the price range. Bot Chien was missing the special sauce on the side and the vermicelli in Bun Dau was a bit dried and broken. The sauce and meat + tofu in Bun Dau were pretty good. Service was quick and friendly, they forgot the sauce for the Bot Chien but they gave us the sweet fish sauce which was ok too. The vibe was pretty nice, we went for lunch but I could imagine this place more busy and fun during dinner time.
"Want to meet for dinner?" Absolutely. "Where?" SAIGON 512, of course. Great service, fabulous food, quiet enough to talk. Recently they have added some new specials that sound great. I wish I had thought to take pictures of the new supplemental menu, but I was tired and hungry and was thinking only of how to decide what to eat. Love this place!
My vietnamese friend ordered me something that was not on the menu. Came out this huge pork plate with fresh side veggies. I don't know what it's called but it was deliciously marinated pork meat. It's a good leftover too!
My husband and I order these 3 menu items every time we come here - bahn bot chien + bahn khot + bahn hoi nem nurong. These you just don't find many other Vietnamese restaurants here serving up - so delicious! So we're willing to make the drive up here to Round Rock to eat here. (Only feedback is bring your own water because tap water here is very bad, or just order Thai tea or Vietnamese coffee to drink)
Austin's Vietnamese food scene over the years has been lacking but year after year, more authentic spots are opening and my search for the best authentic Vietnamese restaurant is finally complete. Austin's 100% authentic Vietnamese restaurant. Bun Bo Hue: chewy noodles, fresh big chunks of pork and soft beef. The bowl is made the way I would make it at home, tons of meat. For less than $16, it's the best value to dollar to meal in my opinion more than pho or ramen. It is a bowl full of dark and light spicy flavors of soup. Fresh toppings on top, a big piece of pork blood cake. It's as good as Houston BBH. The banh cuon, man, taste like Vietnam. Fresh fresh fresh rice rolls, not too oily which I appreciate, nice textures of the ground pork which is nicely seasoned, sliced woodear mushrooms, and crispy onions on top. The bean sprouts are nicely steamed and sliced cucumbers add a warranted cooling taste. The nuoc mam for me I want to be saltier, garlic, fish sauce but I can add more spice from the bottles on the table. When you take in a bite of the rice roll, dipped in nuoc mam, it's a taste of Vietnam street food. Plus finish it off with a fresh blanched bean sprout. The price point less than $15 is worth it. Now let's talk about my all time favorite, banh knot. Fried little cakes filled with shrimp, a little bit of coconut milk, green onions and it's a little cup of goodness. Add some nuoc mam and it holds it in the cake. It comes with fresh lettuce, sliced cucumbers, and carrots. Roll it into a little roll, bite into the cake and bite into the vegetable lettuce wrap. It's all time goodness. A 1000% must try. Btw, the dining room and all the utensils are very clean. The plates are also spotless. read more
Saigon 512 is amongst the top rated Vietnamese restaurants in the Austin-Metro area! I've been coming here occasionally the past few years (before and after their renovation) and leave satisfied every time. I uploaded their recent menu items as they have a new staff and are still in the process of training them to serve their whole menu again. My personal favorites that I get on rotation each time I come are the Banh Cuon w/ Pork (Vietnamese Rice Cake), Large Banh Xeo (w/ no squid), and Com Ga Di Bo (Rice Plate w/ Boiled Chicken). I always order a side of Goi Cuon Nem Nuong with my respective entree as well. The Sugar Cane Juice is absolutely delicious, fresh, and not too sweet. The service here is always friendly, attentive, and timely. Nice relaxing atmosphere with television and restaurant music for your dining experience. Definitely recommend for all my fellow Vietnamese food lovers! read more

My husband and I just moved to Austin and were craving some pho! We came here to check it out due to all the good reviews on yelp. I ordered their pho with meatball and 2 orders of their beef on the side. Their pho only has one size which I assume is their large, cuz it's huge! It comes with 3 meats of your choosing. I thought I ate a ton, but when I was close to full, it looked like I didn't eat any at all. My husband ordered their B1 grilled pork and fried eggroll vermicelli bowl. Safe to say, this place has texas sized portions! We will definitely be back cuz I always crave pho when it's rainy season. There were only 2 servers who were constantly running around, due to a large party; but they were very attentive. Lots of seating, pretty spacious restaurant! read more

This is my go to place for Vietnamese food in Round Rock, TX. When I eat at the restaurant I usually get the Canh Chua, a sour fish soup traditionally with catfish. I love how sour the soup is and the big filets of catfish they give you. I recently ordered take out from this place and loved the bun thit nuong, I had mixed feelings about the pad Thai. The flavor of the thing nuong was good and the vegetables were pickled well. The Pad Thai was a little too sweet and the noodles were very thick for pad Thai. read more

Amazing Vietnamese food for north Austin!! Their menu is pretty extensive and has more than just pho. I came for the Banh cuon (rice rolls with ground meat) and it did not disappoint. By far the best I've had in Austin(many restaurants do not have). We also tried the Fish clay pot which comes with a small side of rice. Highly recommend both. We will be back to try more items on the menu. Dessert #87 is a must if you like coconut!!! read more

Food: The food was average. I had the Pho Meal Combo. The meat was cooked ok, the portions were big but there was nothing special. The pork dumplings were fried. They were cooked right, but I think they are not fresh at all. The friend Rice was yummy, most likely my favorite things from anything. Price: I think it was the average price. I guess we don't pay for the quality but the quantity they serve. Service: Little to no service. I asked for suggestions, and they were very indifferent and not helpful. They came once to refill water. Ambiance: It is good for a casual lunch and maybe a date. It is not a romantic place or anything like that but a calm ambiance. - read more
I was craving some very specific Vietnamese dishes and this place satisfied! The banh bot chien was nice and crispy, cooked to perfection. The canh chua had a balanced flavor and was a hefty portion even for a small. The bo luc lac was not as tender as I'd like, but that's because the beef cubes were a little large and more a medium temp, which was a nice treat. The sauce was the perfect sweetness. Bonus points for having sugar cane juice. The workers there were so sweet and provided excellent service. Will definitely be back to try more items. read more
Easy to see why this place is rated so very well and loved by many! It was a little busy for mid Sunday afternoon but we were greeted right away with smiles and Sat immediately with extensive menus in hand. The "Special" menu listed one of the items we ended up ordering and I cannot recall the exact name of the dish but I have it pictured here and it was explained as "Dry Pho" with crispy rice cakes and stewed beef in a delicious pho-like gravy it was accompanied by a small bowl of pho meatball. We also had a bowl of pho with choice of up to 3 meats and chose brisket, rare steak, and meatballs. All of it was amazing! The owner or possibly chef/creator brought the new dish out and explained more about it and that we were some of the first to try it and that it is only available there. It was a really nice family friendly place with large portions, reasonable prices, great service, and most importantly fresh delicious food. We will definitely be back when in the area. read more

Woahh Bun Rieu was very well flavored! Not bland at all like some of the reviews said. There was also blood sausage in there. The mini banh xeo was interesting because it's not your typical normal banh xeo crepe. Definitely crispier but didn't have as many toppings/not as thick as the original. I'm not sure which one I prefer more, it would depend on the day. Not a fan of the crispy century eggs, very strange. Banh bot chien was delicious!! Would definitely get again. So crispy with a nice scent of fried flour. Great service, they checked in on us often. read more

Replacing our beloved "Oh Ho" restaurant comes "SAIGON 512". Authentic Chinese food with a unique taste. Although the place had a nice crowd, almost 80% occupancy, we were seated right away and able to check their extensive menu. Service was great and the food quality was good. Mentally I kept comparing it to the previous restaurant so I'll have to visit again in order to be fair and provide an unbiased opinion. I found the location clean! Service was good and someone checked on us constantly. Plate portions were ample. Post Covid prices in effect. Find yourself in RoundRock for lunch or dinner, check them out. Michael C. read more
This restaurant was great and served one of the best bowls of pho that I've ever had! I'm not saying that just cause I was hungover, but genuinely was impressed with the flavor. I'm not usually drinking pho broth, but this broth was amazing. It wasn't too salty and had a really nice beef flavor. I grabbed the standard pho bowl that had all meats, tendon, tripe and meatballs. The MEATBALLS. They tasted homemade, with some black pepper and spices mixed into it. They were actually my favorite protein in the bowl. There was also SO MUCH MEAT. I couldn't even finish it, I felt like I kept digging more and more out. The restaurant was big and clean too. I can see a lot of large families being able to be seated here. I was also impressed with the service. You can tell it's family-owned, and different people checked on me while I was eating. It was really nice! Liking the larger sized tables and setting. Room to move around as well seating larger groups. You know Asians come to eat here. During lunch there wasn't a large crowd but food was served as if it was dinner. Will have to come back for a late shift. Nice layout! read more

This food almost remind me of my mom's cooking from home. Great tasting food with great service. The person taking our order always check up on us and made sure we were taking care of the entire time. The restaurant was clean and had tons of space between tables. read more

The deathbed hangovers that Saigon 512, its welcoming employees, and its comfy window booths has saved me from deserves 5 stars in itself. The banh khot is presented so beautifully, is crisp, and tastes great. Their pho is comforting with large portions. Banh bot chien serving is large and hits the spot. Love the vietnamese street food videos they play on the TVs. Really just nice Vietnamese vibes in the Round Rock area. read more
