Hidden gem for sure. Not your typical menu, seems to be a fusion of sorts. So don't expect traditional Vietnamese items, it's more creative. Service was fast, friendly and welcoming. The inside was vey inviting and tastefully decorated. We had the Beef Bulgogi Bao, this was really yummy. The bao was soft and delightful. The beef had a sweet bulgogi glaze that worked really well with it. The rest of the toppings added a nice balance without overpowering the meat. My only wish was that it was 4 baos and not two since they are so small. The highlight was the Firecracker Shrimp. Be warned this is not a spicy dish like you might think from the name. The crispy shrimp was crunchy and not soggy at all, it felt pretty clean and not greasy. It came with salad, rice and a spicy soy sauce and it was just so good. With 12 shrimp, it's definitely shareable between 2 people. Lastly we had the Vietnamese iced coffee which was $6. It tasted like Ovaltine and was mostly ice with just a few sips. I wouldn't recommend it unless the cup size is increased or the price is decreased. So overall, it's a bit pricey. The menu was also a little confusing. We checked online prior to coming and they had a lot of stuff but when at the restaurant, there were only a few items listed which caught us off guard. We actually ended up ordering the wrong item (firecracker shrimp when we actually wanted dynamite shrimp, ultimately it worked out cuz it was delicious but the problem still stands). So those are the only cons I can think off. Other than that, The place was fantastic. Did not think Hutto would have a place of this caliber. Wow, the reviews absolutely live up to the hype. The food is seriously NYC-level quality, which really impressed me. I'm from San Francisco and travel to New York monthly for work, so I'd consider myself a bit of a foodie, and this place delivered. Austin really needs more Asian street food spots like this. We were honestly shocked to find something this good in Hutto of all places. The staff was also incredibly kind and welcoming to our two toddlers, which made the experience even better. On recommendation of a years old DAYTRIPPER episode I caught, we drove over 30 miles to CHOPSTICKS, an unassuming strip mall restaurant for BAO. SO GLAD WE DID! The server behind the counter was so sweet and gracious, giving a lovely smile to these first time customers! We explained what brought us there, then noticed the TV playing the episode featuring their cute little place above our heads. We ordered: 2x's bone-in pork rib BAO, and soup of the day, a family sized portion of won ton, and a peach green tea. After getting my tea, (too sweet for my taste, nice with several full slices of peaches accenting the bottom) then the BAO came out. Ok. I'm hooked. The bone slid out just like on TV. The BAO bun was soft and pillowy, but held together to the last bite. So fresh, so delicious and the pork rib was flavorful and tender! Next was the soup. Those won tons were filled with the best pork filling! Ginger, garlic k dominated the perfectly cooked little treasures with a big serving of love. We all know ramen and pho but Hu Tieu is another type of Asian soup mostly Vietnamese with egg noodles with a flavorful chicken stock. If your sick, come get it, if your hungry, come get it, if your bored, come get it. Bouncy chewy egg noodles, slices of pork meat, fresh greens, and a flavorful soup base. It's a must to add the $5 on the side pork bones, it's more meat in the bowl. The pork meat is all off the bone, it's been tenderized. From what I learned from my coworkers, Chopsticks initially was a food truck specializing in Asian street food before moving to their brick-and-mortar location in Hutto. I've been to Chopsticks three times now, and I plan to go back in the near future. The first time I went, I ordered the pork spare ribs bowl with white rice and sautéed Brussels sprouts. I went on a Friday night, riding solo. I also got the Lemongrass Peach Tea. That dinner was a silent reflection of the past, present, and future. The ribs slid right off the bone and into my mouth. The rice was fantastic. I had never had Brussels sprouts before this night. I'm late to the party. Multiple centuries late. How did I not know how good those are? Jeez Louise. The way Chopsticks sautéed them was perfect. I knew I would order it again. As I was shoving the food in my face, one of the owners came by and asked me how it was. All I could give was a thumbs up, or else pork and Brussels sprouts would come out of my mouth. The second time I went, I invited my coworker and we went for lunch. I ordered the exact same thing again. The Lemongrass Peach Tea is perfect too. I cleaned the plate up the second time. The food was just as good. The third time I went, I went with my girlfriend. She thoroughly enjoyed it. I got the Coconut and Kumquat Tea instead of the Lemongrass Peach Tea since she ordered that one. It was pretty good, but the Lemongrass Peach Tea is so good, I think I'll order that again next time. The pork spare ribs bowl was incredible. I feel like I should order it next time. Ordered some food from them when I wasn't feeling very well and man it hit the spot. Their Comfort in a bowl: Hu Tieu Go soup was so flavorful and delicious and gives you that feeling of like an elevated pho or something your mom would make like chicken noodle soup to help you get over being sick. I swear this soup healed me. The noodles were a great texture and their meatballs were a perfect chew. The broth had so much of that herby goodness from the scallions and chives. If offers Asian fusion dishes in a clean, bright restaurant I opted for the beef mango bowl (flank steak tossed with crunchy mango, carrot, onion in Szechuan sauce with steamed rice) and a vietnamese ice coffee. It was very good. My fellow diners all went with the Pork Spareribs Bowl (4 pieces of tender pork ribs with a tangy Asian barbecue sauce served with white rice and sautéed brussel sprouts. The Mango beef was definitely the star and my favorite of the dishes. The julienned mango and carrot were a perfect balance to the savory spiciness of the sauce, which was a perfect heat level imo. The beef was sliced thin, and very tender and delicious. The bulgolgi bao was delicious, the meat tender, and the mayo, pickled onions, and cilantro tasted great on top. I found the meat a bit sweeter than I would like, but since I split the food and only ate one, I didn't find it overwhelming. The pork belly bao was delishly rich and fatty, which I love. I loved the spice on tbe meat, which I think may have been Chinese 5 spice, I think there was a hint of cinnamon. The wings were both awesome. I think I might have preferred the garlic, over the chili jam if I had to pick but both were crispy and perfectly cooked. I enjoyed the fries on the drive home and I really liked them a lot. I wish they could have put more cheese powder because it went super well with the sweet potato fries. I really loved this place and wanna get the Mango beef again along with the bulgoli fries next time. They have no soda options. The wings were amazing!!! The chile jam is spicy but not so overwhelming that it subtracts from the flavor. Great balance. This corner space on Chris Kelley is a great location to hit on tge way home! They have a small menu but it packs a punch! We ordered 4 meals, and 4 drinks, the bill was $90 so be prepared for that! I ordered the mango beef and it was way spicy! I couldn't finish mine as my my lips were on fire! I was able to finish my daughters ribs though and I will undoubtedly get that next time. The shrimp meal was a bit small and didn't fill my husband. The drinks, we won't get, none of cared for them so I'll stick with water!! We've been following Chopsticks since their food truck days, and we're very happy to see that they were opening a brick and mortar that's not too far from their OG location. The menu is definitely on the smaller side, but mostly staying true to Viet street food, which I appreciate. Stir fry corn is always a good appetizer, can't go wrong with either dry spicy noodles or noodle soup. The rice bowls are fine, but we personally prefer the noodles. The peach lemongrass tea is very refreshing and not too sweet. The space is clean and modern, and they always serve us with a smile. The firecracker shrimp's breading was perfectly crispy, the wings with the chili jam was the perfect amount of spice, and the pork belly bang mi was so savory. I was really excited to try this place since their menu looked innovative, but what I received was a mixed bag. The cheddar sweet potato fries just tasted like regular sweet potato fries to me. They could have been crispier for my taste, but the flavor was good. Don't think it was worth the $8 price tag. I was surprised that the corn was made with dehydrated shrimp. The description had me expecting fresh shrimp. It was okay, but I wouldn't get it again. For the entrèe we had the firecracker shrimp bowl. The shrimp themselves were probably the best part of the meal. I just wish it had been assembled better. The rice, onions, and sauce were all good. But they put the hot shrimp right on top of the spring mix resulting in a soggy mess. Lastly, the green tea was delicious, just a bit smaller than I expected. $6. He also got a bowl of amazing sweet potato fries. The salty/sweet flavor with cinnamon was beyond fabulous, I hated to eat the last one, they are so hot and fresh, crispy. I am drooling for some right now! I had Banh Mi and while smaller than I have had before, it was also more flavorful . This local eatery started out as a food truck and now has a location in Hutto. The restaurant has a unique array of pan Asian fare, all freshly prepared in their kitchen. You can definitely taste the quality. The little pork belly tacos are delicious. The meat is tender and flavorful and the buns aren't dry. Incredibly delicious lovingly crafted Vietnamese food served with a smile. My Son and I were craving Bahn Mi but we looked up Vietnamese near me and found this wonderful Gem. It was a rainy day so I chose the Vietnamese Noodle soup, not Pho but Hu Tiu Go. Comes with either rice or egg noodles and thinly sliced pork Sausage green onions, beansprouts and little cubes of pork skin/fat. It was heavenly, delicious, perfectly balanced and very satisfying. My Son had the BBQ Pork ribs with Friend Brussels sprouts (these are so great - and on the level of Madam Ma's Thai appetizer in Austin) perfectly seasoned, not greasy and just the right mount of fried crunch and tangy sweet sauce. The ribs were sweet and succulent, and so perfectly cooked he was able to removed all the meat from the bones with his chopsticks. Also ordered the Vietnamese Iced Coffee and the Lemongrass Black tea. The iced coffee was strong and velvety smooth just the way he loves it. The Lemongrass tea was unexpected - similar to the fruity boba tea drinks I've had but without the boba and just as tasty. It came out very quick and the portion size was perfect for us. It is a modern cafe style inside and very worth your time. EXCELLENT FOOD!!! and so reasonably priced that we are looking forward to coming back and enjoying this tasty quality Vietnamese food made from the heart, crafted with love.
