Tried DA's Thai Cuisine for pickup and had a little bit of a mixed experience. First things first -- the place itself is nice, clean, and the staff is personable. No complaints there. Ordering and pickup were smooth. Now let's talk food. The deep-fried egg rolls (stuffed with carrots, cabbage, and clear bean noodles, served with sweet and sour sauce) were really good. Crispy, hot, and flavorful. Solid start. The steamed dumplings? Now those were the star of the show. Made with pork, shrimp, crab meat, green onions, and carrots -- and served with their special sauce. That sauce paired perfectly with the dumplings. Balanced, flavorful, and just worked. Out of everything we ordered, this was the clear home run. I also ordered what I believed to be the Thai papaya salad. From what I can tell comparing ingredients, I did receive the Thai-style version (shredded papaya, garlic, fish sauce, tomatoes, lime juice, palm sugar, topped with peanuts). Unfortunately, I was not impressed. I've had papaya salad at other Thai spots where the peanuts are roasted and really incorporated into the dish. Here, it felt like the peanuts were just tossed in at the end. The overall flavor just didn't come together, and I wouldn't order that again. My husband had the Thai fried rice (his second time ordering it), and he thoroughly enjoys it -- so that's a win on his side. For me, out of the egg rolls, papaya salad, and steamed dumplings -- the dumplings were the only real standout. Would I go back? Probably not. But that's just my experience -- don't let me be the deciding factor. Give it a try and see what hits for you. read more

My husband and I ordered from this restaurant a few weeks ago. Since we did take out I can't really comment on the ambiance too much but it did seem pretty casual. We would probably not choose to eat in. However, the takout experience was great. The food was ready to be picked up in a short period of time and it was hot when we served it at home. The dishes were very delicious. We moved from the other side of town and had our favorite Thai restaurant there. I ordered my favorite dish and although the presentation was different it was as delicious as at the other restaurant. We will be back! read more

I ordered takeout from here recently for a large group and while the food was good, my experience was not. I ordered ahead the day before because I wanted to give as much of a heads up as possible since I had a large order but when I arrived to pick it up, it was chaos inside. The guy who was taking orders was on the phone with someone YELLING about being out of chicken and arguing about what to do. I was very uncomfortable but he was still nice to customers, just very unprofessional in front of everyone. My food ended up being ready 20 minutes after it was supposed to but it wasn't a big deal and everything tasted good so I have no complaints there. Overall, I mostly wanted to leave this review so that customer service can improve in the future. read more

I just came across this place on Yelp and remember my wife/I ate there last year and were disappointed....the food was not bad but was so unauthentic. Which was surprising because the chef/owner is Thai and was in the kitchen at the time we were there. I engaged with her husband who was the cashier and asked some basic questions and he had no idea about the answers.....even said he had never been to Thailand! Keep in mind I first started working in Bangkok in 1980, have been to Thailand many times, and literally just got back from Thailand both Koh Chang and Bangkok. The food was incredible as usual. So it is not like I have no idea what Thai food is or if it is authentic. In all fairness, I have tried many Thai restaurants in the US and most are not that great.........but this place seemed like the cook had no idea of what authentic Thai food is. It does not mean her food is not good and that you won't like it.....it's just not using authentic recipes.....it seems Americanized. Wrong I am not another Thai restaurant just an American who has lived & worked in Asia since 1979 and worked and traveled to Thailand for decades. I know Thai food and again, while your wife's food was ok more than one dish did not have the correct ingredients or correct ratio of ingredients. I remember we had the beef salad (yum neua) and tom yum gung and neither tasted anything liked they should. The best I can remember is there was too much sugar. If you know anything about Thais who own Thai restaurants not one can speak or write English correctly.......if you read my review it is clear I am not Thai. Anyway, I did not say your food was bad, jut not authentic Thai recipes. If you want to try real Thai food try Spark food truck not far from you. The food is authentic, portions are large, and prices down right cheap. You might actually enjoy it and learn something. When I asked you if you had ever been to Thailand you told me no. read more

Very friendly and helpful service at this Thai restaurant which offered a targeted menu and delivered on it within a bright, clean setting. We tried several of their lunch offerings which included either a fresh salad with veggies and a peanut sauce dressing or an egg roll. The pineapple rice and chicken yellow curry were excellent and flavorful dishes. The pad see ew was a little dry for our preference but the beef was tender and the vegetables had good bite. Portion sizes were also pretty large. Would definitely return to try more of their menu options. read more

This place was incredible. I ordered a pad ka prow with chicken and loved every bit of it. It was flavorful and the (3) level spice was just hot enough to still enjoy the food. The inside of the restaurant was pretty warm (77-80deg), but the service was top notch. Very clean and well worth the money. This is a counter service style Thai restaurant. The food came out fast, hot, and fresh. I had the pad kee mao with chicken, Tom kha with chicken, and mango stinky rice. The pad kee map was delicious. I got spicy level 2 but it still had quite a kick. The Tom kha wasn't good. It somehow tasted sweet rather than sour. The flavor of the soup was very unlike any Tom kha I've had and I wasn't a fan. The mango sticky was delicious. The mango was ripened to perfection. When I went for the first time, the food was salty. However, the flavor was good, so I tried two more times since then and asked for less salt when I order. My fiancé tried their food truck but took me to try Da's brick and mortar. We are moving to RR soon so I'm trying to find some favorites! This place is good albeit I feel their portions are on the smaller end compared to other Thai places. We got the pad see ew and the tom kha soup. We got a spice level 1 for both and the pad see ew actually had a good kick to it for it being level 1. The soup tasted mild so I wonder if the spices were off that night. I liked both dishes! The tom kha is on the sweeter side though than what I'm used to. The owner was very friendly. Place is small and no frills, but we dined and watched the Olympics on TV :) We'll be back! read more

Dining in for the first time today after having previously really enjoyed my Pad Kee Mao delivery. Today I ordered Basil fried rice - Thai spicy. Beautiful & delicious. Spice could have been hotter, in my opinion, but I like it HOT. Portion was great, on par with other Thai restaurants, price was competitive, and about $3 less per plate than my usual Thai spots in downtown Austin. Counter service only, no actual waitstaff. okay yall, my wife and I love Thai food and until now have only found one other place all the way out in Temple. This place is right down the way from us and worth the try. we had the red and green chicken curry HOT, which was a little to hot for my Mexican wife lol the curry was packed full of great flavor and is a new favorite!! The chicken fried rice was the best we have ever had, even though they had tomatoes in it which was not the best. The Thai iced tea was a little to sweet for me but my wife says thats how it's traditionally made and loved it. The coffee Thai tea was also very good. service was friendly also and good atmosphere. overall this place is a gem and look forward to other dishes in the very near future. #danggoodthai read more

Good quality food with great flavors. We got the massaman curry, basil fried rice, pad Thai, and pad se ew all with tofu and we asked for LESS salt on all the dishes. It's a pretty new spot, staff is very friendly! We grabbed dinner here last week. The food was neat. I got the ready curry & my spouse tried the basil fried rice. I found the food to be average. Came in with super high expectations and I was slightly disappointed. The curry lacked some depth of flavor & the food was under seasoned. We also tried the mango sticky rice, the mangos were tart which took away from the dessert. Overall an okay experience. The place wasn't very busy since they have just opened. We found Da's Thai Cuisine when it was just a food truck near our home. Their restaurant location in RR is worth the slightly longer drive. Service is always great and the establishment is clean. We usually order the Pad Kee Mao and it had always been a 5/5, very delicious, one of the best we've ever had. However, these last few visits have prompted me to write this review. Since we go to Da's every 2 weeks we've noticed a lot of inconsistency whenever one of the owners is not on site. The noodles are either too choppy, smaller servings, the order is wrong, or the flavor is off. Also, there has been changes in menu and menu item prices in the past 2 weeks but the menus haven't been updated. For example, we can no longer order a side of basic fried rice ($6) but now have to order a "kids thai fried rice" ($7), to "not confuse the kitchen", which is the same portion size but includes vegetables and a protein. However, if ordered without vegetables and protein the price remains $7. Because of all these small changes I'm becoming hesitant to pay the increased and arguable price gouged menu prices for dinner at Da's Thai Cuisine. read more

Delicious! Staff was very friendly and quick to take my order. I got the green curry with chicken for there and chicken satay & egg rolls to go for my dad. The curry was really delicious and had so much I only was able to eat about a third of it so plenty of leftover. My dad went nuts over the egg rolls and satay. I will definitely be back to try more items and introduce my 98 year old dad to new things read more
