The best authentic Vietnamese restaurant. The location is excellent for those living North Austin\Round Rock area. No need to deal with traffic going down south if you live around near Dell area. This restaurant was closed for months but we didn't notice any renovation as a result. This is another restaurant where you see Vietnamese families eating so you know this joint is legit. I've had the bun bo hue and the bun rieu here. Both are excellent. I have them hold the pork blood though. The Bahn Xeo crispy and filled with savory pork, shrimp, squid, and bean sprouts. This is another dish you should not miss here. Get the large size as it seems to have more surface area for the crispiness.
Came here specifically for the bahn khot and it did not disappoint. It was perfectly crispy without being oily, better than the bahn xeo I have tried elsewhere. Also had the grilled pork and egg roll vermicelli which was delicious as well. Looking forward to coming back and trying more things on the menu the next time I'm in town.
First time at a Texan Vietnamese place, so temper reading my review with that in mind. Greeting was warm and friendly the moment I opened the door. Being a Sunday morning, I was the first one in, but the large, airy place gradually filled. I ordered my usual Pho with everything. And as they had sugar cane juice, I ordered up one of that too. The pho was huge. The soup was very hot, which helped to cook the raw slices that is necessary in a good pho to help flavor the broth. But the broth was so sweet that I had to take off a star and leave all the soup behind while I was eating the noodles. There was also a lot of meat. The balance of amount was definitely weighed towards the premium cuts although I prefer the cheaper tendon and tripe. Good for value and those who prefer meat. All the beef was very flavorful with good mouth feel. The raw slices cooked up beautifully tender. The sugarcane juice was a highlight. Delightfully fresh and delicious! If you've never had juice from a stick before, you need to try this!
I ordered delivery from Saigon 512 tonight. Everything came out beautifully. Hot, fresh, lots of veggies, and herbs. Loved the portion sizes. The spring rolls with tofu were tasty. The peanut sauce was great. The Pinapple fried rice had tons of flavor. My husband enjoyed the orange beef so much! We would absolutely order from here again and again.
Not sure if it was their off day on the day we went but their noodle soup items were not good. As a Vietnamese born and raised in Vietnam for 18 years, my standard for Vietnamese food is high. We tried this place after reading many positive reviews and we were disappointed. Bun Bo Hue and Bun Rieu don't have their own unique flavor as they're supposed to have. They seem to use the same broth for both and only add shrimp paste and some lemongrass in Bun Bo Hue. Bun Rieu doesn't have the subtle tanginess of the tomatoes and no crab aroma. My mom got Bun Rieu and had to squeeze a bunch of lime wedges in the broth. The only great thing about Bun Bo Hue is that they're very generous with the meat. You will have meat in every spoon and still have it until the last spoon. My husband and sister got Beef Pho - the pho broth is so sweet. Their menu has a lot of options for Chinese and Thai dishes, which is kind of a red flag to me. Sometimes the less, the better. Sticking to just Vietnamese cuisine and doing it well is much better than adding multiple options from different cuisines. Service is ok. They're efficient and do their job to take orders, bring your food out, and that's it. Don't expect them to come around and check if everything is ok. If you need anything, just ask. There's one lady that is very nice and sweet. The restaurant is bright and clean with lots of tables. I'd recommend them changing the music - they played all the very sad and heart broken Vietnamese songs in instrumental the day we were there. You may want to try their non soup items if you visit this place.
Okay, I came back to try other dishes and was pretty disappointed. Pho: Huge portion with lots of meat and noodles. However, the broth... it was sweet! Usually Pho from the south has a sweeter taste than from the North (I'm from the South), but this one is just too sweet and lacking in fragrant. The only save was the portion size. Bun Rieu: We also Bun Bo Hue and clearly they used the same broth for both dishes, which was very disappointing considering how different they should taste. Sliced pork (which is shouldn't to be in bun rieu), cha, rieu, and 2 pieces of boiled tomato that I feel like they just toss it in there. Bland and pretty sad Quick service, nice people. If you're Viet, you will be disappointed to have their Pho and Bun Rieu
My hidden gem! This is authentic Viet comfort food for a reasonable price. Never a long line and the food comes out so fast and fresh. The staff is kind and the ingredients taste high quality. A great option for casual Asian food. Will continue coming here regularly!
Love their food. The only thing I have problem with is why do they have problems with even when I other food Togo in Vietnamese and they still gets it wrong or just want to make more and charge more which I don't want certain things because I don't like specific certain things. Please don't put it in and charge it. Not the first time. Still going but. I keep telling them.
I appreciated they have some of the most authentic Viet dishes on their menu and I think they might be the only restaurant doing it alright in the area. We ordered Bot Chien and Bun Dau Mam Tom. Food was ok, not exceptional but still pretty ok with the price range. Bot Chien was missing the special sauce on the side and the vermicelli in Bun Dau was a bit dried and broken. The sauce and meat + tofu in Bun Dau were pretty good. Service was quick and friendly, they forgot the sauce for the Bot Chien but they gave us the sweet fish sauce which was ok too. The vibe was pretty nice, we went for lunch but I could imagine this place more busy and fun during dinner time.
"Want to meet for dinner?" Absolutely. "Where?" SAIGON 512, of course. Great service, fabulous food, quiet enough to talk. Recently they have added some new specials that sound great. I wish I had thought to take pictures of the new supplemental menu, but I was tired and hungry and was thinking only of how to decide what to eat. Love this place!
My vietnamese friend ordered me something that was not on the menu. Came out this huge pork plate with fresh side veggies. I don't know what it's called but it was deliciously marinated pork meat. It's a good leftover too!
This is my go to place for Vietnamese food in Round Rock, TX. When I eat at the restaurant I usually get the Canh Chua, a sour fish soup traditionally with catfish. I love how sour the soup is and the big filets of catfish they give you. I recently ordered take out from this place and loved the bun thit nuong, I had mixed feelings about the pad Thai. The flavor of the thing nuong was good and the vegetables were pickled well. The Pad Thai was a little too sweet and the noodles were very thick for pad Thai.
My husband and I order these 3 menu items every time we come here - bahn bot chien + bahn khot + bahn hoi nem nurong. These you just don't find many other Vietnamese restaurants here serving up - so delicious! So we're willing to make the drive up here to Round Rock to eat here. (Only feedback is bring your own water because tap water here is very bad, or just order Thai tea or Vietnamese coffee to drink)
Found my new favorite Vietnamese restaurant in Austin! This place serves some traditional Vietnamese dishes that's hard to find in other pho places. Some of the dishes we tried are definitely close to what I've had when visiting Vietnam. Their Bahn Cuon and Bahn Xeo was really good. The star of the show was definitely the catfish soup that came beautifully presented, hotpot style. The crispy noodle they recommended was also terrific. Highly recommended. read more

Been twice already once they've settled a bit from grand opening and here are my thoughts. Firstly, the owners have been in Austin for 40 years and the original owners of Bep Saigon. They have both family style and street Vietnamese food and it's a good place to take a large group to try as many items on the menu as possible. They even have canh chua, CA kho for those days. Banh Khot ($12.99) is extra crispy and comes with a drizzle of coconut milk. The fish sauce is especially sweet here so ask for a squeeze of lime if you're not used to it. Banh Cuon ($15.99) is already difficult to find in itself. Their rolls are smaller but they do come with ground meat on the inside topped with well marinated shrimp and pork. The rolls were fresh and had the right chew to it. Bun Dau Mam Tom ($13.99) is extremely hard to find originating from North Vietnam. It comes with a variety of pork meats (ham, sausage, pork belly, etc.) all with a side of potent traditional shrimp paste. The flavors of the meat was good and it snagged up all the shrimp paste. Add rice paper if you want to make spring rolls out of the meat and vegetables. Pho Dac Biet ($16.95) was less sweet which is what some people are looking for. The noodles were nice and springy and the broth was nice and bold. Mi Thap Cam ($15.95) is the best in Austin in my opinion. It has the proper umami dried shrimp broth and the egg noodles are nice and thin. It came with all ingredients except for shrimp fritter but the shrimp, pork, crispy fat, ham and calami were cooked at the right texture. They have actually drip vietnamese coffee and not just the premixed ones. Only complaint I would have is their fish sauce mix is much sweeter than most. So request a lime if you would agree read more

I live in the area so have seen this location turn over managements and owners at least 3 times. Well the saying third time is a charm applies here! The food is delicious both Vietnamese and Chinese dishes so far. The ambiance is nicer (though the busing waiter section could be closed off more) and food comes out fast and fresh. Give this place a try during their lunch specials for an authentic taste of Asian flare! read more

The deathbed hangovers that Saigon 512, its welcoming employees, and its comfy window booths has saved me from deserves 5 stars in itself. The banh khot is presented so beautifully, is crisp, and tastes great. Their pho is comforting with large portions. Banh bot chien serving is large and hits the spot. Love the vietnamese street food videos they play on the TVs. Really just nice Vietnamese vibes in the Round Rock area. read more

Wish I could give this place 10 stars!!!! Everything was so good and done right! First time trying Vietnamese food outside of the typical Pho and I was highly impressed. Food Wow, wow! Started with the Banh Knot and once I was shown how to set it up, it was incredible! From the crunch to the sweetness of the coconut milk and perfectly cooked shrimp. This along with the accoutrement was an excellent way to begin. Then onto to the Canh Ga Chien, went with the spicy tamarind sauce and these were cooked perfectly, as well. The sauce was a great combo of spicy/tangy/savory that paired well with the chicken. For an entrée, I suggest one of the vermicelli bowls because the meat has a certain marinade that I cannot pinpoint what's in it but it was a flavor I have not experienced before on beef. It just worked, beef was very tender, then you had the freshness of the cucumbers, carrots, the crunch from the bean sprouts and don't get me started on the fish sauce! Service She was so attentive, patient as we had some allergies at the table, and didn't rush us out even when they were closing. Found this new spot (opened three weeks ago) in the Community Impact email listing new restaurants to try 2/23/23. Went for lunch and tried the basil chicken and jalapeño pork lunch specials which came with choice of rice and three soup options. The hot and sour soup was EXACTLY AS IT SHOULD BE MADE and is rare to find. The color was amber, the tofu chunks were small enough so as not to be overpowering and the broth was the perfect balance of spicy. Definitely would order again. The chicken and pork dishes were cooked perfectly too. The pork was cooked through but tender and not tough the way overly cooked protein can be. The veggies I had included a nice mixed of carrot strips, broccoli florets, pea pods and fresh mushrooms all perfectly cooked. Neither too hard nor mushy. Really a perfect meal and well worth it. I had leftovers for dinner so the portion was large. The menu isn't inexpensive but the quality is the best I've had in many years of trying local Asian fare. We'll be returning to try the pho and crepes next. read more

Solid starters and teas! I loved their banh xeo (theirs is a smaller version that makes it crispier) and spring rolls. Their bun bo hue was not as flavorful, but I liked that they had more of the traditional proteins other places in Austin don't always have. Nice service and clean interior! read more

Customer service was excellent. This was our 2nd time to eat in Saigon 512 coz we're from the South side . And when we have the chance we take it . Last Sunday we tried their Soft Crab Salt and Pepper and it was so good . My husband got Jalapeno Chicken and it's so delicious. Ordered Sugar Cane juice and fresh spring rolls too :) read more

This place is the real deal, I just moved in the city and have been craving authentic Vietnamese food, so finding this place almost brought me to tears. The food is so delicious and they even have speciality dishes you will not find at every Vietnamese restaurant like bot chien which is one of my favorite dishes. It was a very clean place with a great atmosphere. It was modern, great ambiance, and the staff was awesome. I was also so amazed when all the food came out in 5-10 minutes. It was so delicious, it tasted as good as home cooked Viet food. Also the broth in the pho was great, which I believe is a good testament to how good the cooking is. It was so good it didn't really need any or much sauce added in my opinion. I hope to come again! read more

Maybe I've been spoiled with amazing Vietnamese food in Houston or California and I came to Saigon 512 with high expectations due to the 4.5 stars shown on Yelp. The Bun Rieu lacked the essential pork and shrimp umami flavor leaving the broth so bland. Usually bun rieu has a meatball mixture made of ground pork and crab but Saigon 512's version was missing that. The banh cuon was just okay and the salad that accompanied it fell short since it didn't really compliment the dish as it should. Typically Banh cuon served with Thai basil, steamed bean sprouts and sliced cucumbers but they served it with mint, picked carrots and lettuce. The Banh xeo had nice presentation. Overall I felt the flavors didn't deliver like it should have and there's so much potential for them to kick it up a notch. read more
The restaurant is located in the inner corner of a plaza so there's a lot of parking spaces available. I can definitely appreciate a Vietnamese restaurant with authentic traditional options other than just Pho! I would definitely go back to try other items from the menu. read more

**First time visitor** Just got home from picking up my online order and was blown away with the food preparation/packaging and flavor! Service was excellent I walked right in to grab my takeout order. Ambiance was clean and relaxing! I had to call the store to give them kudos when I got home, it costs nothing to be nice and restaurants like this deserve the recognition! I've been trying every highly rated pho spot north of Austin and I just keep coming back to Saigon 512. Pho Dac Biet (Combination) - 5/5 : Their pho broth is consistently rich and yummy. The portion of meat they give is generous and fresh. The tripe tastes clean and the tendon is soft. My one issue is I wish they served more herbs with their pho. They only offer basil (along with the usual bean sprouts, jalapeño, and lime). If only they added culantro (not to be mistaken with cilantro!) and mint to the mix. But no one in Austin used these herbs as far as I've found so... Banh Khot - 5/5 : This has become an obsession of mine! They are Vietnamese crepes with shrimp and coconut. You dip them into what I presume is a fish sauce and the flavor is amazing!! Not to mention the wonderful crunchy texture. It's creamy but not heavy - the fatty coconut and fried flavors are countered by the acidic and fresh vegetables. The waiters are attentive and friendly. The restaurant is always clean too even though they're busy every time I go. I've ordered takeout from them recently too and it was a very efficient process! I highly recommend trying Saigon 512 if you've been searching for a pho spot to make your regular. read more

I was not feeling well today & my go to is always pho. I decided to give Saigon 512 a try as it's near my office & they did not disappoint! The broth was so flavorful & the chicken was super tender, plenty of toppings as well! My food was ready on time & prepared for pickup when I arrived. I did get it to go, but the inside was clean & spacious. I'll definitely be back! read more

I've been hearing so many great things about this pance and today was finally my turn to give it a try! The restaurant is located on a big plaza, with a plenty of parking spaces in front of the store. We arrived around 630pm, and it was just about 10% occupancy. The crowds started to flood in around 7pm but you should still be able to get seats without making reservations in advance. The servers are all friendly and attentive. They offered to let us pick the table and the water was served right away (with straws on the side). We ordered Pho, Banh Cuon, Banh Bot Chien, Bun Bo Hue, and Bun Rieu. The appetizer, Banh Bot Chien, was soooo good and a MUST order. I also highly recommend their Bun Bo Hue. You get very generous portion with a huge pork hock and a lot of beef. The broths are super yummy and the whole bowl is just impeccable! Will surely come back again. read more

Food is delivered fresh and hot. Great spicy food, but you can get Sriracha if you need spicier. The egg rolls are fried, but it is a light batter, and they are tasty. Service is good and the music they play is wonderful. I would suggest the pinot noir not be served so chilled, though. read more

SOOO GOOD!!! We're from Houston and this place is authenticcc!! Even their chinese foods are BOMB too, definitely get the orange beef if you decide to get chinese! I got the Bun Dau Mâm Tom and it's to dieee for. Their pho broth is also SO flavorful. 10000/10 WOULD COME BACK! And our server was so nice, love her! read more
Food 3/5 I ordered vermicelli with pork and eggroll. Let me tell you... it's just alright. I was disappointed as the meat was not seasoned as a true, authentic "thit nuong" should be... it was saucy, very Americanized, and no lemongrass or any aromatics. My husband got bun rieu and he said it was very bland and missing something. If you're Vietnamese and have had good Viet food, you'd be disappointed here, based on the dishes we ordered. This restaurant does not serve actual authentic Vietnamese dishes despite its name. We came on an afternoon Wednesday and had lots of disappointment. Food: We ordered Phở with tai, gau, and bo vien ($15) and Bun thịt nướng chả giò ($13). For preface, my family and I are from Vietnam, so we know what real and authentic Viet foods taste like. I will tell you that these dishes are not authentic. For the pho, the broth was cloudy (i sent a photo of the pho to a friend who is not fully Viet, and the first thing my friend pointed out was the cloudy broth). This is due to unskilled cooking. The meats were kind of smelly, not prepared properly. The bun thit nuong was the biggest disappointment. The rice noodles were dry and rubbery instead of being moist and dense. Might be because they pre-boiled the noodles and left them in the fridge, only taking them out when someone orders them. The meats, to be frank, so bad. Bun thit nuong literally means grilled meat with rice noodles. The meats in this dish WERE NOT GRILLED (owner confirmed this). Owner actually also messaged me (messaged attached in Vietnamese) saying that the reason why their meats aren't grilled, like they said, is because apparently the majority of their White Americans customers are workers who only have 30 minutes during lunch, so the restaurant doesn't have time to actually grill the meat. She also said that since many of her white customers don't know how to cook Viet food, they're "easy" and just eat whatever tastes good. So yes, the meats were confirmed to be grilled and not braised. The meats were literally braised and caramelized to give the effect that they were grilled (THEY WEREN'T). Also you can tell this because after mixing up the meats and the noodles with fish sauce, the noodles literally turned brown. The meats didn't even taste good (like i had to force myself to eat them). Back to fake grilled meat, you're telling customers it's grilled meat while it's not?? isn't this scamming and deceiving lol. Also, popular Vietnamese restaurants that serve bun thit nuong and grilled meat still grill their meats. Like they get massive number of customers per day and still grill their meat properly. Grilling meat doesn't take that long??? Service was meh. I was kind of confused when I went inside the restaurant because the place was so empty (only 1 other customer there). Atmosphere was meh. Anyway, I wouldn't come back and wouldn't recommend a friend here. read more
Saw it on Yelp and we were nearby so why not? We got there around 5:45 PM Friday evening. We were promptly seated and we ordered from Vietnamese menus. It would say it's good for small gatherings with the amount we ordered. We ordered Banh Xeo, fried tofu stuffed century eggs sprinkled pork song, Rolled rice roll with fish cakes+ pork, Bun Bo Hue and catfish soup small size. I ordered sugar cane drink. Food came out pretty quick. Soup taste on sweeter side for Bun Bo Hue. Catfish soup has one big chunk of fish and tail part of catfish. Rice roll used nice noodle which is not as fresh but still ok. Overall, it was good joint that we can hit up with friends next time. read more

It is not your typical pho restaurant because they serve real authentic Vietnamese cuisine. The dishes you would get if mom or grandma was making it. My family and I love going here for that reason because my mom might be too tired to cook but still wants a home cook feeling meal. I highly recommend trying this place. read more

banh hoi heo quay is not on the menu but imo one of the best dish here. It's advertised as a special dish in one of their posters in the restaurant. The roasted pork was juicy with crispy skin and savory sauce on top. It went perfectly with the rice noodle and fermented veggies. I would recommend ordering it when you go with someone though. The portion was super big for one person. read more
The reviews here had me extremely optimistic. Upon arrival we were greeted by the sweet waitress that helped us find a table and took our drink order right away. The menu had a good variety of Vietnamese options, although there's no bánh mi sandwiches. (Sorry if that's what you're looking for ) I got a pretty basic grilled chicken vermicelli bowl, which is something I usually get at all Vietnamese restaurants. The chicken was a bit gummy in my opinion, though the flavor was nice. For me, I need diced jalapeños or chili oil, something hit to balance the sweetness of the grilled onions and carrots. I couldn't put my finger on it in the moment but it was very flat. We asked for chili oil but there was no spice and only got a small bowl. Maybe I need more heat than most but this still wasn't enough. If you don't like spicy food, you might love it! I am just used to fresh diced jalapeños and chili oil, maybe sriracha and fish oil- all the spices.... A bit expensive for the quality in my opinion but I only tried this one dish. The pho broth was not flavorful at all. The fried pork dumplings were the highlight of this experience, truly delicious. The pho just wasn't great. The service was good and the interior is decorated well. Overall, not my favorite experience. read more
