I used to come here pretty often when I lived across the street from here and was feeling homesick. It's the only place in Austin I have found that serves banh hoi as an entree on the menu. It's one of my favorite childhood dishes! I also enjoyed their bun thit nuong cha gio many times as my other go-to order. I believe my mom enjoyed the banh xeo and pho ga when I took her here the first time she visited Austin. Service is usually quick and the music or TV was never too loud. I had the bun rieu (noodle soup with a pork based broth, tender spare rib, crab cake, and tomato) while hubby had the bu luc lac (beef cubes cooked over a high flame with lemongrass, onions, and garlic spices. Served over lettuce and tomatoes with a side of salt & pepper lime dipping sauce). I've been to this place many times and every time, I love it! First of all, I just love coming here the seating and the space is so relaxing and such a perfect place to eat and talk. And honestly it's better than any fancy restaurant out there. I love the amount of plants in the space and the TV plays cooking videos and it's so nice to watch while waiting for your food! Speaking of waiting for your food, the food comes out super quick! Within 1 minute of ordering my drink, it came out! And a couple minutes after follows the food. The service is amazing as well, the servers are super sweet and are very quick to serve you and get what you need. The menu offers a bunch of things, appetizers, main dishes, desserts, and the drinks! I love how the desserts and drinks are also Vietnamese (most of the time I notice restaurants tend to have the basic selection of fountain drinks and desserts, but this restaurant has a wide variety of drinks and desserts so you can try something new every time you come here!) One of our dishes was supposed to come with rice paper, but it didn't arrive until about 15 minutes after the meal -- by then we had already eaten it without making spring rolls because we didn't know. The tomato broth was extremely bland, the noodle dish had only one flat flavor profile, and the grilled meat was similarly boring. The catfish had almost no taste at all, and even the sauce meant to accompany it lacked flavor. Service made the experience worse. The woman who brought out my soup treated us like we were a nuisance rather than customers. Staff also started cleaning around us while we were still seated and chatting, even though there was no line and they weren't close to closing. It felt rushed and uncomfortable. We only ordered the beef pho but they have a wide array of things on the menu like stir fried noodles and fried rice. The beef pho was delicious with the signature clean tasting broth. Their broth here isn't as anise forward as many other places, which is actually nice because it feels clean and doesn't give the after taste that star anise can sometimes leave. The beef was tender and flavorful and the noodles had the perfect texture to them. We love to have Vietnamese food and especially pho during the cold weather. The lemongrass and other spices really does wonders for your sinuses. We came here on a Sunday afternoon and they had a full house. It's tucked away in a corner on the opposite side of the H-E-B. When you walk in, it's a pleasant atmosphere with tons of natural light. Someone greeted us quickly and had us sat. I got a lychee jasmine iced tea and it was barely sweet at all. It had three big lychees at the bottom and was refreshing but I was hoping for a bit more lychee flavor. We also got a Vietnamese coffee which was delicious!! For the food, we started with the wonton bombs which were tasty. Next, I ordered the Sunflower crepe because they were out of the pate they use for the Saigon steak & eggs. But, the sunflower crepe turned out to be a great option. It was nice and crispy and the vegetables were fresh. I make little lettuce wraps with bits of the crepe. My boyfriend got the shaken beef which was a bit disappointing. The presentation was beautiful but there was a big pool of sauce at the bottom which masked the flavor of everything including the rice, egg, and veggies. In an effort to expand my palate I thought I try Vietnamese food today not too far from where I work. I was greeted by a welcoming hostess who told me I could sit anywhere I wanted. This was welcomed and appreciated. I chose a window seat so I watch was happening out side.., trees blowing, windchime turning and plants swaying from side to side. Now for the food...I choose a vermicelli bowl (Rice vermicelli noodle bowl topped with fresh herbs, shredded lettuce, cucumber, thinly sliced mint, pickled carrots, imperial rolls and topped with crushed peanuts). The reason why I love this restaurant is bc they offer so many other traditional viet dishes that most viet restaurants here in Austin don't have. Things I've ordered time and time again: - Bo Ne (steak and eggs) - Banh hoi (fine vermicelli wrap with the minced shrimp on sugar cane) : this is a do it yourself spring roll dish. You can wrap everything with lettuce or rice paper. - Hu tieu dac biet (southern noodle soup): very similar to pho BUT this is PORK broth. Pho is a beef broth. Unpopular opinion incoming! I see why people might give it a higher rating. If the food is on time if the food is not missing items and if the waiter doesn't ignore you then yes it be a great experience. Unfortunately it was so packed the staff wasn't bothering with smaller tables. We didn't get any one asking about refills or anything for at least 15-20 min. Rather they gave us our food which was missing several ingredients and disappeared only to return with a to go box after 15-20 to hurry us out and make room for new customers. The guy behind us didn't get his food till we were leaving and arrived before us and he was livid. My noodle bowl was missing at least three different ingredients (mint, peanuts and cucumber) so when they brought me a to go box I had to explain to them not only did I not enjoy my food, but that I couldn't even rectify paying for it because they never returned to ask me if I needed anything so I didn't eat but one bite and left the food as it was as evidence of them missing ingredients. The waiter actually just laughed it off and was like oh sorry I don't think it even comes with those things that you are mentioning so I pulled out a menu and showed him the Bún Chả Giò - Imperial Rolls on Vermicelli bowl even though he and I both knew I was right which made me even more upset. It's not the first time this has happened, but it's the first time I actually called it out. I think this place is way overhyped. I think there are way better places that are way cleaner. I think that it is convenient and just ok. I think they have some good menu items, but not everything is good and I hope they can improve their service. Enjoyed our memorable visit on the other side of town on the corner of McNeil Drive and Parmer. It's a little out of our way but good news is that we've been there two or three times. Their food is consistent and still very delicious. The staff is very friendly and hospitable. It's pretty cool when my wife is Vietnamese and she can order in a way that the staff understands her completely. Not just ordering the menu items, but her distinction of how the food differs from her expectations. Sometimes I feel it. It's a game to see if they understand how the food is prepared. I enjoy sitting down here at the restaurant because it's very clean and it doesn't smell like a wet mop. Some restaurants have that unpleasant odor. This one smells of good clean food. This is our usual spot when we're on this side of AUSTIN. I recommend coming out and giving it a try. Another thing to note is when you've seen restaurants filled with Asians. The Banh Xeo was crispy and huge! I got the Banh Xeo Chay chocked full of fried tofu, juicy mushrooms, mung bean, green onions and sprouts. The crepe was super strong and crispy, slightly oily but not overly so, and the filling was plenty. BUT HERE IS MY ISSUE WITH THIS PLACE: 1.) the service is lacking when they are busy. Then it seems they start picking and choosing who deserves top tier attention while others get left by the wayside 2.) they serve non traditional herbs with the Banh Xeo. They only had mint, but they had no fish leaf, no sesame leaf, no CULANTRO, no basil. Most places give you at least four big huge pieces of lettuce for wrapping, and this place only gave two. They were stingy with the pickled daikon and carrots and they lazily used cilantro as an herb instead of more traditional Vietnamese herbs. Proper Vietnamese herbs are icing on the cake for this particular dish, so NOT having them was a disappointment though the crepe was great. 3.) they also provided non traditional sauces for the spring rolls and the Banh Xeo. The spring rolls' peanut sauce had some sort of red Thai chili sauce (?) thing going on, and instead of giving me proper fish sauce with my Banh Xeo, they gave me some sort of dark soy sauce with chili paste? No. I had to flag them down for fish sauce. All in all, the spring rolls were filling with huge slabs of fried tofu inside. I had to ask for the addition of basil to the rolls, though. And the vegan fried tofu and mushroom crepe was PERFECT minus the lack of lettuce and traditional Vietnamese herbs. 3.5 stars, but I'll round it up to 4 read more

Easy parking. Loved all the plants inside. It was clean. Staff was really nice and helpful. We ordered some garlic noodles and they were amazing. I should've read the description more for the dry chicken wings. So next time I'll try their tamarind. They got a five just for those noodles. I was blown away on how flavorful it was. I ordered the chicken lemongrass stir fry which comes with rice, a small cabbage salad and a spring roll in my case because the fried roll had shrimp in it. First off, the chicken lemongrass was absolutely wonderful, they didn't skimp on the meat and the sauce was super tasty. The cabbage salad had a very subtle flavoring and it was very refreshing. The spring rolls I ordered was the lemongrass beef and it was actually one of the best spring rolls I think I've ever had. Everything we had here was pretty good! You could tell it is authentic and the food was very fresh. I got the garlic tiger prawn noodles and the bun rieu. It was good, but my only complaint would be that the meat inside the soup was cold by the bones. I don't have an issue with restaurants chilling their meat before it is added to the soup but I wish they were more aware of this to make sure it was all warm/hot. Both of my pieces of meat was cold inside. Otherwise the flavors were spot on and the Thai tea was super good. (Great tea to milk ratio). Definitely will be back to try more! read more

We ordered five dishes total, family-style, for four adults and three kids. The night's choices were vegetable soup, grilled beef, chicken salad, pork fried rice, and chicken stir-fry noodles. The food arrived in about 10 minutes, and all the dishes were served in another 10 minutes. Every dish was delicious, perfectly seasoned, and cooked for maximum flavor and enjoyment. I think the pork fried rice and chicken stir-fry noodles rival highly-rated Chinese restaurants across Texas. Some music was played during our time there, but it wasn't too loud, so we could easily enjoy our conversations. Water is served in decanters as soon as you're seated, which makes for a pleasant experience. Takeaway boxes were readily available for food we couldn't finish. I have to say it their shaken beef is not typical shaken beef. They add lemongrass to it and it's not traditionally done that way although not bad but it's not what I was expecting.
