Chicken/cabbage thumb buns, combo fried rice, and chicken/curry pot stickers
    John B.

Update to include a special we hadn't seen before - a chicken/cabbage thumb bun. Got this along with our usual combo rice, Hop Queen got her Curry Chicken pot stickers. As always, super tasty, and service is always friendly and efficient. Polished off the rice, so we got an order to go "for later". Their rice is really almost worth the visit by itself.

Suuuuuuuper disappointed with the consistency of this place. The first soup dumpling I ate had very light flavor but then the next one was PACKED with flavor(and super delicious) but then the third one I had was a middle ground between the two. This wasn't just an issue with the soup dumplings it was with all of the dumplings I had. I just don't understand how their dumplings are uniformed in size and filling but the flavor is just an after thought. I'm thoroughly disappointed as this place has the potential to be good but too much inconsistency ruined it. Side note crab rangoon were good, not too greasy and had a CONSISTENT delicious flavor.

Vegan Spicy Tofu and Mushroom Bok Choy Dumplings

Dumpling World rocked my world. Big props to them for specifically labeling their vegan dumplings, eliminating any guesswork or concerns, right off the bat. Your choices are bok choy & mushroom or spicy tofu, either steamed or pan-fried. That might not sound like a lot, but let me tell you, that alone is enough to paralyze me with indecision. You see, they're BOTH good, BOTH ways. You get six dumplings to an order so theoretically, we could be looking at 24 dumplings. Still, I might be able to power through if I was hungry enough. The skins walk a fine line between chewy and delicate, which is the ideal balance, if you ask me. Fillings are abundant and downright juicy. Admittedly, the spicy tofu might have the slight edge, with a distinctive mala warmth and meaty bite, but it's a very close call. Mix up your own dipping sauce from the soy sauce, vinegar, and chili oil provided for the perfect umami bite, every time.

I'm a stickler for a clean restaurant. And this place grossed me out. I probably should have left after walking in. It smelled of old fish when I walked in. Nothing felt clean. I was on a time crunch. I seen about 7 employees around while it was dead inside. The restroom was disgusting and smelt like mold. The floors were super dirty all around the restaurant. It makes me think of it's this bad up front, how bad is it on the back end as well. As for the food, I didn't finish it. The meat has a funny after taste inside the soup dumplings. Not much flavor to them. The pan fried dumplings looked nothing like the pictures. Not great either. The chicken was probably the best thing. But my stomach was definitely upset later. I'd say go at your own risk.

I heard rave reviews about this place but was disappointed with my experience here. Nothing we tried really stood out. The soup dumplings were large and juicy but lacked flavor. The spicy braised beef noodle soup was also underwhelming. The green beans had good flavor but were undercooked. The fried rice was a bit bland. The service was friendly and somewhat attentive. The atmosphere is pretty casual. Parking was hard to find.

The food was delicious, and the servers were incredibly helpful and attentive. They really went above and beyond to assist me in making my decision. I particularly enjoyed my steamed bun. The portion of chow mien was generous, and I had enough for lunch the next day! There is parking at the triangle and also a garage with limited spots. It was also a good atmosphere for me to get some work done. My only regret is that there aren't more dumplings available at a place called Dumpling World.

S/O to Michael & Quyen's Yelp reviews for convincing me to give Dumpling World a try! Even though the menu offers a variety of other authentic Chinese dishes besides dumplings, I came here for one thing and one thing only--ALL THE DUMPLINGS. For a party of three, we were honestly surprised at how much we ordered and managed to finish. For the steamed dumplings and potstickers, they offered several options beyond the traditional flavors like Shrimp/Pork/Chive and Pork/Scallion. We decided to stick with the classics, just in different offerings. These were my favorites: Xiao Long Bao (Shrimp/Pork/Chive), Pan Fried Thumb Bun (Shrimp/Pork/Chive), and the Spicy & Sour Dumplings (Shrimp/Pork/Chive). I'm usually a steamed dumpling, soup, or dumplings-in-broth kinda girlie, but the Pan-Fried Thumb Buns... *chefs kiss* the crisp on the bottom buns were perfect. As for the other dumplings, though the dough is not as delicate as Din Tai Fung's, I'll take it since it wasn't chewy or tough like other authentic Chinese places I've been to in Austin. As others have pointed out... the bathroom... let's just say it has the same "well-used" vibe you'll find at many hole-in-the-wall authentic Chinese spots...

Dumpling World was great. My husband and I shared the shrimp and pork soup dumplings. They are freshly made in-house and arrive steamy hot to your table. They are soooo delicious! We also shared the eggplant and pork noodles. I'm not the biggest fan of eggplant but this dish changed my mind. Big fan of the slurry, flat noodles. We ended up getting another order of the soup dumplings. They are just that good! Service was fast and friendly. Looking forward to coming back here again in the near future.

Was overall alright for the price paid. It's a good place if you want something quick and you get a good quantity. The food came out fast. We got some Shrimp and Pork and Chive dumplings and they were just okay. The Beef & Onion Spicy and Sour Dumplings was I think the best dish we got there; I liked how the broth was both sour and had a little kick of spice to it. The Pan Fried Thumb Bun Shrimp and Pork and Chive dumplings were good. We also got some Xiaolong Baos and they were ok too.

I'd rate this place more like a 3.5, it was a different environment in comparison to ordering dumplings as appetizers. I will say I enjoyed the soup dumplings more than the steamed dumplings.

Dumpling World was really good! They have high quality dumplings, good noodles, and very easy free parking. We got the colorful dumplings to start, which was a beautiful presentation. Our favorite of the three fillings was the chicken & corn. I was so happy to see they had a vegan noodle option! The sesame noodles were tasty and a great texture. My husband had the spicy cold noodles and really enjoyed them. The staff was friendly and the food came out quickly. A great option for a casual dinner!

Finally checked this spot out and it was a delight. Everything was so flavorful and compared to some other dumpling spots in Austin, I felt like this was fairly priced and tasted a lot better. I would definitely come back here! The service was friendly and quick. The restaurant was busy but they still got our food out quickly

SO GOOD! We love coming here and just ordering a bunch of stuff to split with each other. All the dumplings are so so good and the green beans were such a sleeper hit. Good drinks as well and pretty quick service!

The first thing I noticed when I walked in was the restaurant was completely full and customers were continuing to flow in. The cumin seeds give it that signature earthy, aromatic flavor and you get a slight tingly numbing spice sensation from the chilis and peppercorn. The lamb is not overly gamey, but it still does taste like lamb so if you are not really a lamb fan, I'd choose something else. - Jumping Fish: A very popular dish! Tender white fish fillets that is so soft it melts in your mouth. It is in a flavorful oil and broth that is refreshing from the fresh jalapenos. It is a savory dish, yet still relatively mild. It commes with napa cabbage as well! This was my favorite dish and I loved the flavor combined with the white rice. - Mapo Tofu (Vegetarian): They have one with pork as well, but I got the vegetarian version. Silky soft tofu cubes in that signature mapo tofu sauce and numbing peppercorns. Despite the appearance of all the dishes, none of them were very spicy. Overall, a comforting soft, spicy, savory dish with a slight tingle. - Eggplant in garlic sauce: A deliciously sweet and umami garlic sauce. The eggplants could have been a bit more cooked through in my opinion though since it was still quite firm. I loved it still! Note that all the dishes to me were not spicy just had an underlying subtle spice or tingle (like a finishing flavor note if you will). Also, since it is sichuan the dishes are on the oilier side. You order with the cashier at the front and pay up front as well. Food comes out quickly. It is a small space with three rows of tables (maybe around 12-15 tables give or take), so it does fill up fast. I went at around 5:40 PM on a Thursday and there was no wait, but by the time we finished eating at around 7PM, the restaurant was full. House of Three Gorges was hyped up a lot on my social media feed and through word of mouth, so I came in with high expectations. Luckily, they did not disappoint.

I got the Ox tail Beef broth soup and the Nasi Padang. The ox tail was very good, it has its spices but it's a simple soup with the meat, the potatoes and chopped up tomatoes all thrown into the bowl, with wontons. I used the side chili they gave me, lime into the soup. It was so much to eat for me including the rice with the bowl. Of soup was a lot. Because it was ox the price was a bit high so like 19 which is reasonable. The broth was great, it's simple yet very delectable. The Nasi Padang, was a curry based plate with two types of meat, shredded beef and chicken, two different curry flavors. One was sweet and the other was tangy which was different. It wasn't my favorite but the ox tail definitely beat it. Overall this place was really good and something yall should doif you wanna eat out on budget but good.
