Destination lunch spot while in town shopping, made a special trip down just for their food. Hop Queen opted for their combo fried rice, which is really stand out - all of the ingredients are the perfect combination of flavour and texture. Really generous portions as well. I got the Beef and Onion hot and sour soup, very tasty and just the right amount of spice. Lunch portions will pretty much fill you up for the rest of the day. We had the Pork Sticky Rice Shumai, Pork Xiao Long Bao, Shrimp & Pork & Chive Steamed Dumplings, Eggplant & Minced Pork Noodles, and Pineapple Fried Rice. Everything was flavorful and satisfying, and ordering several different dishes was definitely the way to go. The dumplings were the highlight, especially being able to try several different styles and fillings. The Xiao Long Bao had that comforting soup-dumpling experience you are looking for, while the shrimp, pork, and chive dumplings offered a completely different flavor and texture. The sticky rice shumai was another nice variation. The Eggplant & Minced Pork Noodles added a hearty, savory dish to the meal, and the Pineapple Fried Rice provided a nice balance with a little sweetness. Having grown up in a household where dumpling making and preparation were treated as a meditation on perfection, I've been incredibly pleased to see Austin seriously upping its dumpling game. While I've yet to find a Korean joint with a proper Korean mandoo on offer, Chinese varieties are thriving with the likes of Julie's Noodles, Steamies, Lin's and, the subject of my review, Dumpling World. Definitely don't expect ambiance here. After suffering the Triangle's persistent lack of parking, you'll walk into this place and find a really spare, almost utilitarian set up that screams "we mean business." They definitely mean business. I've probably been here a good 5-6 times, and have tried almost everything on the menu. Soup dumplings shine -- my daughter refuses to eat them anywhere else -- and their recently introduced thumb buns, which I think are fried mini soup dumplings, just ooze flavor. More traditional half-moon dumplings, no matter your filling of choice, steamed or fried, never disappoint. Don't ignore the non-dumpling items too. I don't know what the seasoning is in their green beans, but it's ridiculously delicious. You'll never look at green beans or haricot vert the same way ever again. Good, but unremarkable, are the soups and stews. Better to get those at other Chinese eateries. I don't mean to dissuade anyone from those, but did you really come to a place called Dumpling World to eat anything but dumplings? It gets crowded here at times so I recommend trying on a weekday evening. Uniformly, whether it's packed or slow, service is quick and courteous. You should take a trip to Dumpling World. I came here once with my husband, and we'll randomly bring up going back from time to time. It's a little out of the way otherwise we'd be here wayyyy more often. Also, depending on the time of day parking can be a bit of a nightmare. It wasn't too crowded when we went so we were seated almost immediately. It's bright and spacious and the tables were clean. Huge shout out to the friendly staff who stay on top of it all. The food! I cleared a plate of their vegan potstickers made with spicy tofu with no problems. They were so good and filling without leaving me feeling heavy. I definitely want to go back for more. The steamed dumplings were rich and wonderfully juicy. The dumpling portions were reasonable but the noodle dishes... WOW! Huge portion. Not my first time at the dumpling world, but it gets better and better each time. I will forever order sour dumplings and bring a cup to keep the leftover juice to drink on the way home it's that good. Also, (not pictured) my new favorite is the curry potato dumplings. We tried the soup dumplings, which were amazing big pockets of happiness with broth and meat inside. We tenderly picked them up and were careful not to lose any of the soup by using the soup spoons as cradles. The veggie eggrolls were perfectly crisp and came with a sweet and sour sauce, which we saved to go with the fried potstickers. The first soup dumpling I ate had very light flavor but then the next one was PACKED with flavor(and super delicious) but then the third one I had was a middle ground between the two. This wasn't just an issue with the soup dumplings it was with all of the dumplings I had. I just don't understand how their dumplings are uniformed in size and filling but the flavor is just an after thought. I'm thoroughly disappointed as this place has the potential to be good but too much inconsistency ruined it. I'm a stickler for a clean restaurant. And this place grossed me out. I probably should have left after walking in. It smelled of old fish when I walked in. Nothing felt clean. I was on a time crunch. I seen about 7 employees around while it was dead inside. The restroom was disgusting and smelt like mold. The floors were super dirty all around the restaurant. It makes me think of it's this bad up front, how bad is it on the back end as well. As for the food, I didn't finish it. The meat has a funny after taste inside the soup dumplings. Not much flavor to them. The pan fried dumplings looked nothing like the pictures. Not great either. The chicken was probably the best thing. But my stomach was definitely upset later. The food was delicious, and the servers were incredibly helpful and attentive. They really went above and beyond to assist me in making my decision. I particularly enjoyed my steamed bun. The portion of chow mien was generous, and I had enough for lunch the next day! There is parking at the triangle and also a garage with limited spots. Even though the menu offers a variety of other authentic Chinese dishes besides dumplings, I came here for one thing and one thing only--ALL THE DUMPLINGS. For a party of three, we were honestly surprised at how much we ordered and managed to finish. For the steamed dumplings and potstickers, they offered several options beyond the traditional flavors like Shrimp/Pork/Chive and Pork/Scallion. We decided to stick with the classics, just in different offerings. These were my favorites: Xiao Long Bao (Shrimp/Pork/Chive), Pan Fried Thumb Bun (Shrimp/Pork/Chive), and the Spicy & Sour Dumplings (Shrimp/Pork/Chive). I'm usually a steamed dumpling, soup, or dumplings-in-broth kinda girlie, but the Pan-Fried Thumb Buns... *chefs kiss* the crisp on the bottom buns were perfect. We dropped in for a really late lunch at 2 PM on Tuesday. There were 3 other tables in the restaurant when we arrived with party of three. We were promptly greeted and seated. The fans were blowing hard and loud so I asked if we could be reseated. The waitress indicated that she could turn off the fans instead. That was nice of her, rather than reseating us at any of the other 10+ tables available. We were rushed to order, then felt the disapproval from the waitress when we ordered only dumplings during our first round. Later added two additional entrees to the two dumpling orders. Both the pork soup dumplings and the pork, shrimp, and chives pan fried dumplings were really good, both juicy. The shrimp chow mein and the crab and shrimp noodles were good portions but way too salty. The food didn't take too long, about 10-15 mins. By the time our food was served, both of the waitresses sat down to eat on the other side of the restaurant. We felt like we were interrupting their lunch by asking for to-go boxes and the check. This is a big corner restaurant in the shopping complex. They have plenty of tables and booths. The ladies bathroom was very smelly, didn't feel comfortable using it, not even to wash my hands. There is lots of parking but it's shared with many other shops in the complex but there is also a parking garage. Not sure that I'll be back, considering that food and service were not great. Hell, yeah! I like this place. Good for groups. Everyone order something and pass it around the table! The spicy and sour dumplings are the bomb. Way better than the soup dumplings (which are really good!). You can't go wrong with the curry chicken and potato pot stickers. Tan-Tan noodles were really good. The only side you need is the garlic box choy - it's pretty f'n awesome! Service is attentive and friendly. Ask questions and the staff will steer you in the right direction. We also shared the eggplant and pork noodles. I'm not the biggest fan of eggplant but this dish changed my mind. Big fan of the slurry, flat noodles. Went to Dumpling World in the Triangle and tried their top dishes. We got seated in about 15 minutes and the staff was friendly and attentive throughout. Location is small, but pleasant. The chicken curry and potato dumplings were the highlight, very flavorful and well balanced. The spicy and sour shrimp and pork chive dumplings are interesting, most of the flavor is in the soup rather than the filling, so best eaten together. The wrappers are a bit thick and not very delicate. The pan fried pork soup buns were a bit underwhelming, fairly average, but had a nice crispy bottom. Stopped by last year for a brief catch up, the shrimp wontons weren't particularly memorable at the time. However, I visited recently and was impressed by the dry noodles! I ordered the chicken and shrimp combination, but it only came with 3 small shrimp and was mostly just chicken. On top of that, the customer service was lacking. I returned with a friend for a dinner, of course I'm getting different items the second time around. We ended up both ordering the peanut sauce noodles, I got the fried pork chop and my friend went for the steamed dumplings. Having the experience last time, I thought the peanut sauce noodle would be another very good indicator to the food here, and it was everything I wanted. The peanut sauce is thick and brings a good kick in the heat, the shredded cucumber is authentic too and adds a fresh and crunchy taste to the dish. When the noodle came, there was so much sauce it almost looked like soup! And the sauce really coated every single noodle, though it mean I got thirsty really quick into it. The noodle was definitely a very nice item to order, the portion is very hearty. The pork chop is fried the way I expected to be, just like back home in Taiwan. It was a pretty big piece, I wasn't expecting the pork chops to come in two layered stack, but it was a little thinner thus a little more on the dryer side. The sauce compliments the meat, and the chili oil on the tables again makes a great topping and pairs perfectly. The dumplings come in three colors, two for each flavor: shrimp pork and chive, chickekn and corn, vegetarian bok choy and mushroom. For my own preferences, both the mean options ar seasonsed very well, its always a good sign when dumplongs are seasoned just perfect not to need sauce to be savory enough or to cover the meat taste. The vegetarain dumping was well, it was just the texture of the filling was too soft for me as i'm used to meat dumploings. I want to point out again, chili oil with the church is perfect going with the dumplings. This is for sure not going to be the last time I'm here. My plan is perhaps next time I'll go for the dine-in only options on the menu! So excited! read more

After reviewing online of the top dishes at dumpling world, we settled on these three dishes as photographed. I will say overall the price is pretty cheap compared to other dumpling places I've been to, but honestly you get what you pay for. The texture of the dough for the dumplings is quite thick as compared to some other high-end places like Din Tai Fung or 1618 here in Austin. Of the three dishes, I think the chicken, curry and potato potstickers was the best, the most potent flavor wise. The soup for the sweet-and-sour dumplings had nice flavor however the dumpling itself was somewhat bland in comparison to the soup. Despite a long line, they were able to see us quickly. Staff is very attentive. Open atmosphere with plenty of tables and booths. You get a large quantity of food and will probably have leftovers. We did not dine in. Only been once for takeout but I have to say I was so happy it was one of the first times I actually felt like I was back in nyc having authentic Chinese food! The shrimp pork dumplings were fantastic. Pan seared on one side but super juice in the inside and so flavorful. The chow mein was delicious but a bit too greasy for me - I think I prefer lo mein that is less rich and oily. I was excited to try something new with the eggplant and minced pork noodles but this also was extremely oily. The eggplant and pork was tasty and the noodles themselves were the perfect texture, wave and bounce. I just wish it wasn't so oily and rich.
