Back to Jinya, and you can't convince me that this is not the best ramen spot in Austin! Trust me, I've been to others. We didn't have a reservation (2 people) but we luckily didn't have to wait and got seated at the large communal table. I got the tonkotsu black, which was delicious as usual. It's actually very difficult to make the Chashu so tender and flavorful and keeping the broth smooth and warm. I love it!! My husband got the red tonkotsu, which is the spicier version. The spice level ranges from 1-10 and he picked 7. When I tried it, I coughed. It was a smoky, spicy flavor that was not enjoyable for me. When he tried it, he said it wasn't spicy enough, so the server gave him extra spices to dump inside the broth and what was a mild red became a pure red liquid. He was sweating so much but was so happy LOL. If you pick levels 6-10, it costs $1 extra. This is at the Domain, so you can park at any garage for free. read more

We were at The Domain and decided to stop by JINYA Ramen Bar. Even though it's a franchise, the ramen is consistently solid. We opted to sit at the bar and got seated immediately. We were blown away when our food came out in less than 10 minutes after ordering, especially during a dinner rush on a Saturday. Fast, friendly service all around. I ordered the Jinya Tonkotsu Black and added bamboo shoots. The broth had good depth and richness, though it leaned slightly under salted for my taste. Still very enjoyable overall. Jinya Ramen has always been one of my favorite ramen spots, and I've visited this location a couple of times in the past with consistently good experiences. The flavors were usually on point, and the salt level was well balanced, which is something I really appreciate in a good bowl of ramen. We came back recently and ordered two different bowls: the Spicy Vegan Tofu Ramen and the Red Fire Opal Ramen. The Spicy Vegan Tofu Ramen was very good -- flavorful, comforting, and nicely balanced, with the tofu adding a great texture and making the whole bowl feel hearty and satisfying. The Red Fire Opal Ramen, however, was much saltier than expected. The flavor itself was still good and had a nice spicy kick, but the saltiness was a bit overpowering and took away from what could have been a really delicious bowl. When it comes to ramen, the balance of the broth makes a huge difference, and this one just missed the mark a little for us. That said, Jinya still offers solid quality and good flavors overall. I just hope they're a bit more mindful with the salt level next time, because it can really make or break the experience. We'll definitely be back and hope to update this to a higher rating next time. For now, it's a solid 4 stars . read more

This place was disappointing. The apps were great but the ramen falls short. Loved the Poke tacos and Crispy Chicken. The broth lacked depth and flavor. The additional toppings came on separate plates instead of in the ramen bowl. I didn't want to finish my bowl of ramen nor take it to go as leftovers. The egg was 10/10 though cooked perfectly. The bartender was nice and attentive. The staff had to yell something every time someone enters or leaves the establishment which is trying too hard to be cute and got annoying after the fifth time. The inside has a bar, ramen bar seating, booth tables and a patio. Located in the Domain shopping center so might be a bit of a walk once you find parking. read more

Shout out to our server Eden. She was professional and patient with my fickle mind. I'm an Asian fusion snob but Jinya makes it to my list of to go. I've gone to a different location from a different city and this was a cozy place, I like it. Not too noisy crowd although we beat the long line! They give military discount but I think it was forgotten on our tab. We ordered the last Tuesday deal of the month and I'm glad we did! But I loved the appetizers---forgive me for forgetting their official menu names---shrimp tempura, squid balls and edamame. Love love the drinks. We stopped by Jinya Ramen Bar at the Domain during happy hour and overall had a good experience. The ramen itself was really tasty and surprisingly filling with rich broth and solid portions. It definitely hits the spot if you are craving comfort food and quality noodles. The service is also pretty good. That said the happy hour menu could be better. It was only $2 off Sapporo and none of the ramen options were included which felt a bit limited. Still worth going for the ramen itself but I would not go out of my way specifically for happy hour deals. read more

Slightly modern (American) take on classic ramen. The broth was absolutely delicious in the Tonkotsu Black ramen we tried. I loved everything about it, except the fried onions. I'm reminded of a classic steak when I eat these fried onions and did not appreciate this memory intruding on my ramen experience. That being said, everything else about this ramen was excellent. We also tried the signature mocktail kiwi sparkler and the matcha lychee lemonade - both were sweet and flavorful. The kiwi came with a rock sucker candy which was a fun addition but too sweet for me to appreciate it at dinnertime. We shared a bowl of ramen (large enough to split) with crispy rice with spicy tuna and aburi oshi-sushi salmon. These 'pressed' sushi was tasty but the rice was very different from classic sushi rice. Seating at the bar is open and first come-first served. Ugh. I really really want to give Jinya 5/5, the ramen (spicy chicken) is always consistent. But over the years they've become a victim of shrinkflation. Almost ~$19-$20 for the spicy chicken ramen with not a lot of meat or veggies makes it hard to justify at times. But the heart wants what it wants. Service was ok. Dined in at Jinya this time. The outdoor patio is covered during winter so it makes a perfect setting to have a bowl of steaming ramen. The Flying Vegan Harvest ramen bowl with plant based impossible meat was quiet huge and very flavorful. Gyoza are pan fried steamed dumplings with the vegan version made with veggie and impossible meat stuffing. They were served super hot and absolutely delicious. We recently found ourselves browsing The Domain and wanted a nice warm ramen to cap the night off with. So naturally, we ended up at the ever busy JINYA Ramen. We arrived and were quickly seated at the Ramen bar and our orders were taken just as fast. What happened next was quite surprising... We ordered a Tonkotsu Original 2010 and a JINYA Tonkotsu Black. The Tonkotsu Original had enough garlic in it that it would be considered a bioweapon in Transylvania. The smell and taste of garlic was so overwhelming that we quite frankly have no way of justifying it other than it was a bad batch of broth. Either way, that coupled with the very salty chasu meant that the whole dish was not good. The Tonkotsu Black was a bit more redeeming but ironically lacked a bit of flavor. The toppings were just okay and the egg (one of our favorites) was bland. We were incredibly disappointed as we hoped that given the price and location the food would be at the very least average. To put it frankly, our JINYA Ramen experience (at least this location), was propped up by the quick and friendly staff and the nice setting. The food was a complete letdown and we've eaten so much ramen over the years that we genuinely mean it. We only recommend that you stop by if you have a blood oath with Count Orlok that you just can't quite shake. read more

Jinya is a classic ramen staple that I visit time and time again! This location in the Domain is nice, with a selection of tables, bar, or community table. Service was kind and food was great. The only thing missing was the wow factor, which for me wasn't quite there. Takoyaki - in terms of the ones I've tried, it's not my favorite because the sauce is pretty scarce and the octopus ratio is super low. There's a ton of dried squid on top but it's really just fluff, doesn't add much flavor. Tonkotsu black - not super garlicky, but definitely one of my favorites. Egg noodles are a great texture. Usually I ask for extra black garlic sauce! Tonkotsu red - lower spice level, again the noodles were a great texture and the broth was super good. All the portion sizes are great, and the toppings that come with the bowls are fresh and flavorful. The tonkotsu itself is thick and satisfying. Ultimately I'd come back again! read more

While strolling through the Domain late Saturday afternoon, my hubby and I decided to grab an early dinner. We came upon this ramen shop and stopped in. We asked to sit inside and were seated at a high top without delay. Our waitress came right over and asked if this was our first time there, and when we said yes, she kindly walked us through the menu. It was still Happy Hour so we ordered drinks and an appetizer then looked over the menu for mains. The Lycheetini was refreshingly good and the fried chicken appetizer was tender with a crispy crust and piping hot, a sign it was freshly cooked. My husband ordered the original ramen bowl, which he enjoyed. I opted for the Birria Ramen which was fabulous! The beef was lean, the broth was well seasoned and the noodles perfectly cooked. Great location in the domain! We stopped in on a Monday night, there were folks waiting out the door. We were told about 20m wait but were pleasantly surprised with a 10m seat. The restaurant has made the absolute best use of the small space! Nice big sit around bar seating, full table as well as counter seating. Wonderful decoration and lighting. We thoroughly enjoyed our food, so much so that I have already been back twice! They offer indoor and covered outdoor seating options and it appeared the high top tables are seated closely together so you may make a new friend! I ordered the JINYA Tonkotsu Black (no additions) and added chili oil on the side...ramen was served in cute bowls, hot, with nice flavors...oh, I asked for no hard boiled egg (I just can't in my ramen). We for the spicy creamy vegan with a side of broccolini and fresh garlic. It was good, but one of the things I always look forward to is the spread of sauces. This time, they were no where to be found and our waitress was confused. I thought it was standard to have the chili crisp, gyoza sauce, and seasoning sauce. I got the black garlic ramen last Friday night and it was delicious! The char siu was melt in your mouth and the marinated egg was cooked perfectly! It was also quite a bit of food, i actually took half of it home for a late night snack! The broth was rich without being overly salty. It was a bit on the oily side but I did not mind. I've heard great things about Jinya ramen and tried it for their chicken broth! While the meal was pretty good, it wasn't the best ramen I've had and something felt lacking. Perhaps some more flavor in the broth would have made this ramen more exciting! When we finished the ramen, the bottom of the bowl said "no ramen, no life" which was cute. I loved the chicken karaage. In addition to the soy dipping sauce, it came with a yuzu sauce. Perfectly crispy too. I would come back to Jinya since I'm a ramen fiend.
