During our weekend trip to Austin, we visited this decently sized and clean Indian restaurant that added a lively touch by showing a cricket match, much to the guests' delight. The service was really good. We ordered a variety of items, including idlis, uttappa, and different types of dosas. One dosa was notably huge, easily serving two or more people as the menu suggested. Unfortunately, the dosas fillings lacked flavor. However, the uttappas were really good and highly recommended. While the experience was pleasant, I wouldn't go back, preferring to explore other places for idli and dosas.

If you're missing the small neighborhood cafes from back home, in India and that also have a very personalized taste and service - then look no further! This is it! Desilicious cafe is a fresh addition that was much needed to expand Austin's Indian food offerings. The place is really nice, to sit down and experience nostalgia through the food. If you like Puran poli, definitely give it a try!! Highly recommended!

Came here with my Dad who was visiting for the weekend. I normally don't go to desi restaurants that serve thalis (large platters with samplings of food and rice) since I'm usually not that hungry to eat everything on my own, so I enjoy having a thali once in a while when I have someone to share it with! The South Indian thali is full of delicious samplings, and it comes with a ton of rice! We also ordered onion samosas, and they came out as six flaky samosas (the crust was much lighter than what I am used to with regular Indian samosa, which has a thick and darker crust) with a refreshing green chutney. Everything all together was less than $20 before tip. The staff was friendly too, and entertainment came in the form of Bollywood music videos playing from a TV screen, haha!

Everything was very tasty and authentic. Onion rava dosa took a while (as it usually does take time to crisp) but it was huge and crispy with fried onions and peppercorn and totally worth the wait. All the chutneys and sambhar were delicious. Schezwan cheese dosa was so different and spicy. They have so many dosa varieties, I wanna go back to try a few more. The South Indian thali is also a good option if you're looking for a full meal, with variety of curries, chappatti, dal, papad and rice. The food is very filling, both for the tummy and the heart :) It's a new restaurant so giving them the benefit of the doubt as the indoor seating and decor is still a work in progress.

Let's me start with saying this - I'm so THANKFUL to have found this cafe. Convenient location off of Parmer Ln and They should not be surprised to see me as regular because the following: Food- literally so desi-ly delicious. Everything I ordered during the two visits was perfectly cooked and so was the crispness. On my first visit, I had ordered Punugulu, Masala dosa, Chettinad dosa, Tomato Onion uttapam, and bullet coffee. My second order was Masala dosa, Cheese Schezuan dosa, Ghee Roast dosa and bullet and filter coffee. Ghee roast dosa, uttapam, punugulu are a must try. Crispness of ghee roast dosa was on point and the flavorsome uttapam took me back to eating authentic uttapams in India. Punugulu is basically medu vada but in different shape, and the taste, crispness was perfect. The chutneys and sambhar are just as mouth watering. Ambiance- it is very casual and low key. Usual set up table chairs. There's a small utensil station you have to pick cutlery from on your own. Something that I would never mind in general and especially when the food is this good. Service- friendly helpful staff. Might take a minute or two for you to get seated since they don't have a host waiting at the entrance always to welcome guests. Parking- own private and free parking right in front and around restaurant.

Great restaurant . Great owners. And they got a great cook! Only vegetarian! Great variety of mouthwatering items. You will leave highly satisfied.

DW and I visited for lunch; ordered a south Indian thali and a madurai malli dosa. The dosa was quite good, said my wife; she did wish they had served her more sambar however. Chutneys were tasty. The thali was served with one chappati, sweets, and enough rice to feed a hungry football player. Not being one, I decided to quit after consuming about half the rice. The curries were good and tasty, particularly the mango pachadi, the rasam, and the small side of fried rice. Nothing was overly spicy or oily. I asked for an add-on chappati, which was billed extra (fair). Two cups of south Indian filter coffee to wash everything down, and we were good. Down to earth ambience, adequate parking, and friendly service.

Came here with family for lunch and it was so delicious!!!! I got the masala dosa and the idli sambar and they were sooo good!!! The dosa was so nice and crispy and the idli was so buttery soft!! The tomato achaar was to die for!!! The service was also super fast and we didn't wait for long to get our food. Definitely coming back here!!

    Onion Chili uttapam

We were excited to find a South Indian spot in North Austin, but this place really missed the mark: All dishes were freshly prepared, but had bland flavors and small portions relative to their price. Service was friendly and disorganized; we saw several parties receive the wrong dishes while we were there. Tables were dirty and greasy. The vada we ordered were a bit bland. The $7 order had two small pieces, and the chutneys were not great pairings. The chili onion uttapam was good but a bit simple. The batter was bland and so we really only tasted the toppings. The mysore masala dosa was the best item we had---great preparation and good filling. The plantain baji was three small pieces, and had some stringy peel in it. I can't recommend this dish.

The food is really good! One less star for not so hot food- especially Sambhar. I loved Karivepaku Podi Idly and Schezwan noodles! We had Ananthapur Kaara Dosa which was very tasty; plus we asked for spicy level- and they made it so as per my expectation. The Chettinaad Dosa is the most famous here and it was worth the fame! The potato stuffing inside had many delicious flavours. Onion Chilli Uttapam was hot, fresh, and tasty! Lastly, I liked their sambhar (was not hot though) & all chutneys except tomato chutney (I've had better). Very friendly staff! Ambience was okay, nothing too fancy, lots of space.

Masala Thatte Idly, Mini Tiffins Weekend Combo
    Nihilaa K.

Indian tiffin place newly opened 5 mins from domain is deeply satisfying tiffin cravings for South Indians :) came here for a quick meal of idly and dosa and we were not disappointed . The combos are great for people who want to try more items in small quantities . They have a separate table for people who want different kind of podis. Their chutneys were really good and sambar was decent . Would recommend the vada, pongal and dosa . Thattu idly was decent . Service great as they are newly opened (hoping they maintain the quality and service after they get more crowd). Definitely coming back for some good tiffin!

** vegetarian food review ** I have been to this place at least 4 times now and tried 4-5 different things...I have my favorites which I order each time, but we also try a new type of dosa or idly always. Ghee Roast Dosa - this is my personal favorite!!! If you want to have something light, with no masala at all, and if you like the flavor of ghee on dosa then this is a MUST TRY!!! It's perfectly crispy and delicious! Love it! Idli sambhar and vada sambhar - again, too good, idli is very soft and tastes best with the sambhar. Madurai Mali dosa/idli - the dosa has geeen colored masala and has mint kinda flavor which is quite good, I personally am not a fan but it was a good one to try. Uttappa - amazingggg!!!!! Must try!!!! Their chutneys are all great as well, and sambhar is also lovely. The coconut chutney can be a bit spicy, but it is too good!! Service is great, they are very nice and helpful. There are not as many people here, so it is always a nice place to sit and chat and have a meal.

    Vegetable Kothu Parotta
    Anna R.

They can veganize most of the menu if you ask, so major points for that! The szewhan dosa was pretty good, though I had been expecting a different style. The podi idly was nicely flavored and had a kick of spice. The paratha special we tried was a dish I'd never seen before and was the best of the three. The space is a little dingy but could easily be made a little nicer ambiance-wise. The service was a little odd but I think they are still pretty new. We will be back.

Service The guy working the truck seemed to be high while taking our orders and making food. That must explain why tacos are $7, they were decently large and that runny age was good. It also took ages to make and get our food. I know vegan food does tend to take longer because of the care process, but this was another level. They did not call our names when the food was ready and it took ages. We even came to check on our food a few times and it was not ready. Ambiance Food truck in the middle of an empty lot. There are quite a few other trucks, but they were all pretty expensive. Bathrooms are decent onsite and there area few tables around the here you can eat. Honestly meh on the location and truck food.

Since I normally loved cooking vegan at home, some of what they served here, especially lentils, matched exactly what I would have cooked. The soup and tea were amazing as well, and there was a piece of paper on the table with explanations about the tea. Even on a Monday in December, this place had everything that I needed. Apr 8, 2026 review:…read more I've been at Nori two times in person and recently tried their to-go order. We got one Austin roll ($22), volcano roll ($15), creamy spicy tan tan ramen ($20), teriyaki sesame tofu yakisoba ($20). I have had their sushi and yakisoba but tried their ramen for first time. I was impressed with their packaging. As you can see in picture, veggies and noodles box was on top and soup at bottom. The only thing I didn't like how noodles became very sticky because of how tight they were packed. So I got it as cold (because I live 30 mins away) and sticky. Ramen came with all the veggies like grilled Chinese broccoli, tofu, sweet corn, marinated shiitake mushrooms, red onions and negi. Yakisoba noodles had the Stir-fried noodles tossed with cabbage, scallion, carrot, marinated shiitake mushrooms, and fragrant negi in a savory house sauce. It was good if you like this type of noodles. Austin roll had Smoked tempeh, tempura tofu, jalapeño, pickles. And on the to Avocado, roasted garlic oil, tempura flakes, smoked paprika, teriyaki. Volcano roll was a deep fried roll which had spinach, avocado, sweet potato. On top: spicy mayo, sweet soy sauce, chili sauce, Caviart and tempura onion. I would say this is the best vegetarian sushi place I've found in Austin. So if you're in search, this wouldn't disappoint you.

I ordered a holiday cheese box on December 3 as a Christmas gift. My card was charged immediately. The order never shipped, and I received no communication until I followed up myself, multiple times. After the holidays, I learned (only because I kept pushing) that my order had been internally canceled due to a system glitch, with no email, no refund, and no outreach. I was repeatedly told it would ship on specific dates that came and went. A replacement order was finally sent in January. It arrived late, wet, with melted and ruptured ice packs, and the cheese was very soft to the point my friends weren't sure it was safe to eat. The box also lacked the gift note that was supposed to be included. What bothers me most is that my card would have stayed charged indefinitely if I hadn't chased this down myself. That's not okay especially for perishable food. It's a real shame, because the product itself is great. Squash cappelletti - The pasta was cooked to perfection with the ideal amount of filling. I was already getting full at this point, but there was no way I was leaving this unfinished. 6. Cranberry & ginger popsicle - A fantastic palate cleanser that actually helped reset my appetite for dessert. 7. Concord grape sorbet - I neither loved nor disliked it, but it was refreshing and surprisingly nostalgic. It instantly reminded me of PB&Js with grape jelly that my mom used to pack for me as a kid. 8. Burnt butter apple cake with maple ice cream - I'm a sucker for anything apple, and this combination was next-level. The perfect way to end the tasting. Overall, I had an amazing experience. The service was outstanding, the space was intimate and ideal for a date night, and the food was thoughtful and creative. I'll definitely be back for the spring menu. You don't have to be vegan to love this spot!

I can't stop raving to everyone who will listen about how much I loved Fabrik. From the sensational…read morefood to the warm service and intimate atmosphere, they offer an out of this world dining experience. I was skeptical about vegan fine dining as a concept but my tune quickly changed as I went through the experience and found each course to be better than the last. The food was fresh, unique, so flavorful and very filling. Presentation of each course was stunning as well. Completely worth the $75 pre fixe price. The restaurant is very small with maybe 10 tables per seating and only two seatings per evening. Plan ahead to visit this gem as they book out months in advance. I've already booked my next reservation for April :)

Fry Let me tell you…read moreabout FTG. The little food truck in the back of a sweet-ass dive bar called Mama Dearest. Do you wanna know about the dive bar? You'll have to check out my other review. But just know it's filled with weird taxidermy and novelty items that are one of a kind. But I digress. Back to the food. I would like to tell you I tried everything on the menu as many times as I came here. But alas, only four or five things. Unfortunately, their pierogies are the best thing I've ever had. Not just in Austin, but ever. I am now desperately seeking pierogies that rival FTG's. It's not just the pierogies themselves... but the sauce, it would make angels sing. Every time I tried something new, my heart would long for the pierogies. I finally gave in to my desires and quit trying other new things. I think next time I go back I'm just going to ask strangers if I can have a bite of their food, so I can say I've tried everything. But until then, this review is for what I have tried. After the pierogies. My next favorite things in order. Fried chicken (perfectly crisp bites), jerk chicken (little spicy, not dry, perfect), chilli (so spicy), gnocchi. The cheesecake would technically rank after the pierogies, but because they're a dessert I don't wanna mess up the order here and confuse y'all. The two dudes that work this truck, are here EVERY time. I'm pretty sure the only days they take off is Mondays and Tuesdays. Tell them the girl from Kansas City with a big dog sent to you. Lastly. Know that you won't find this place overrun with college kids or snotty hipsters. Just regular people enjoying a good dive bar.

Rating: 2.7/5 [Postmates delivery]…read more We were so excited to try FTG's food, especially given its high Yelp rating. Unfortunately, it ended up being extremely disappointing. The meats were unforgivably dry, though everything else was good. Steak & Zab ($22): The zab, a mix of green beans, mushrooms, and broccoli tossed in salsa macha with sabayon, was actually enjoyable. I liked the flavors, but it was a bit too creamy/saucy for my husband (likely due to the sabayon). The steak, however, was dry and very chewy. Asian Style Spare Ribs ($17): This came with a 1/3 rack of spare ribs, a Thai cabbage salad, and five-spice fried potatoes. The potatoes were fire, and the salad was solid. But again, the meat missed the mark--super dry for the most part. We tried dipping it in the sabayon and other sauces to add moisture, but it didn't help. The fish sauce glaze didn't come through either. The only redeeming quality was the generous portion size.
