Over the past month, I've been here several times and it never disappoints when it comes to classic street food and hearty meals. What to Order: The samosa, veg thali, bhel, poori aloo, aloo tikki ragda and last but not the least Churma ladoo are absolute standouts; and perfectly prepared every time. These dishes truly capture the flavors of Gujarati and Mumbai street food. What to Skip: Unfortunately, the Undhiyo and Indo-Chinese options are a letdown. The Undhiyo, in particular, lacked the authentic taste I expected from a Gujarati spot; mostly just green peas and potatoes, missing the complex flavors that make this dish special.

This new restaurant/eatery around the neighbor is our go to place if we have to eat outside and the comfort food. Their food is very authentic and gives a feeling of home cooked food. This place only serves vegetarian food. Everything is super fresh, and cooked to perfection with correct spices and spice level. I have tried this place multiple times now and have tried several items from their menu and let me tell you - everything is delicious and excellent ! Their Indo-chinese reminded me of the India days Soo good ! The basics like kadahi, roti, parathas are something which my mom cooks at home - not too oily ! Love their weekend Thali - a complete whole hearty meal ! I can't brag enough about this place and also the quality that is served ! The staff and the owners themselves are so generous , friendly and courteous! Can't go wrong with this place. It has a limited and small sitting area so something you might have to wait a bit ! Enough parking in the complex ! 100% recommend..

This is the kitchen/restaurant of the Dana bazaar owners and located around 10 shops away from grocery store. Good thing is you get 10% off after showing your Dana bazaar grocery store receipt. This place is only a couple of months old but has been able to get crowds on both weekdays and weekends. Dine in space is quite decent as well. They keep bringing different/special food thali's as well every few days. I've tried the hakka noodles and aloo parantha just around the time it got opened but wasn't much impressed. Noodles were ok, little bit oily. Parantha was not soft, separate layers. This Fri (4/7), my husband and I thought of giving it a chance again. We got aloo tikki, vada pav and Rajasthani Thali (special of the day). Aloo tikki was great, best part was tamarind chutney (red color that you see in below picture) and it was THE best. Vada pav would get 6/10 rating as vada was good, not too oily and spicy but somehow overall taste was lacking. Rajasthani Thali was above expectations. It had dal, 2 bati, gattq kadhi, besan ki sabji, churma, bajri ki rotla, garlic chutney, rice, salad, papad. Bati were fried but contain good amount of ghee. My personal favorite were churma and bajri ki rotla. Quantity is good for 1 person/2 person to share. Two chaats was ~$13 and Thali was ~$16 (price after 10% discount)

If you are yearning for quality, authentic and flavorful food that will give you nostalgia of India, this is the place to be. Order at the counter and wait for name to be called. The menu has most of the popular and essential options, all vegetarian. It makes a lot of difference if the owners are present and are running the show. Over all great experience.

Quite a disappointment, in line with a sad trend of disappointing Indian restaurants in Austin. We were excited to see a new Indian place pop up the neighborhood, we are regulars at the sister-business Dana Bazar Indian Grocery store, and have been thinking of checking this place for a while. We excitedly scanned the menu and decided to order a Veg Thali, there wasn't any wait staff and it seemed like a self-serve model, but we didn't mind as we were excited about the food. Took about 20 mins for the Thali to be ready, which was a tad late considering its was early evening 5:30 pm or so and there was just one more customer on-premises. Finally, Thali arrived and we are excite to sample everything, first bites were not bad, considering we were starving for some time. But very soon the excitement weaned off. Though the selection of food on thali was decent, 2 veg curries, Rajma, and Gujarati style moong dal, the taste was all but missing. Rajma were cooked with minimal seasoning, kind of like Mexican refried beans, Dal was bland, Subzi full of oil. We had opted for Lachha paratha, which wasn't cooked enough, sections in the middle and side were raw. For a moment, we thought about reordering or trying something else, but decided against At that point , I had didn't have the patience to talk to the person at cashier, who again was waltzing between kitchen and cash, they seemed like short staffed. Went for Dal rice with pickles and made it a meal, followed by burgers from P-terry :) Overall, not impressed but hoping they up their game! I give 1 star, since it's in the hood, but highly doubt I'm going to try them again anytime soon.

Located on the right side of SummerMoon and Optimal Eye care! My friends and I went at 11:30 and customers were steadily coming in, many of which were Indian, perhaps those who are familiar with the similarly named Dana Bhazar market on the other side of SummerMoon. Dishes came out around 5-10 minutes later, hot and tasted great. Not pictured is the pani puri, which I had for the first time and loved it! The owner was friendly as well, chatting with some customers/recognizable faces and asking how our meal was! TLDR definitely worth a try, especially if you're in the area and even if you're from further away! I think the food quality makes it good competition for the area. 7 - 7.5/10 fabs

Our party of 4 devoured this appetizer. - Hariyali Chicken Kebab - this was not what I expected. It was served with a gravy like a curry, when I'd expected a dry kebab dish from the grill. It was not my favorite. - Malai Kofta - yum! I tried the Ulavacharu soup--absolutely delicious. It's main ingredient is horse gram, which apparently is in the legume family. It wasn't like any soup I've had before, so description is a bit tough. It was fairly spicy to start with, but less so as I kept eating it. The only things I could identify was ground up horse gram, some sweet onions, and some thinly shaved ginger, but it had a lot of complexity. Highly recommend that and the rose milk (especially if you need some relief from the spiciness when you start out.) I had a little bit of my friend's butter chicken sauce, and that was excellent too. More heavily tomato-based than I'm used to, but a lot of depth of flavor. I'd happily order that in the future. I can't wait to come back and try their buffet when my diet restrictions are over :) Service was great. I asked if a few of the menu items have coconut in them since I'm allergic, and our server double checked with the kitchen for me and was very nice about it. Really pretty dining room as well. One of the most memorable dishes we had was a special that our server highly recommended--and it was truly a showstopper. I wish I had gotten the exact name because I can't find it on their online menu, but visually and flavor-wise it was stunning. It came wrapped and cooked in a banana leaf, layered with rich, velvety saag, what tasted like thin dosa or chapati layers, egg, aromatic spices, tender chunks of meat, and curry, all melded together into this beautifully perfumed, steamy package. It was served with a cooling yogurt sauce and a chili sauce that balanced the heat perfectly. The presentation alone was gorgeous, and the flavors were deep, earthy, and incredibly comforting. We also ordered the curry goat, which was delicately spiced with a wonderful, slow-building heat. The meat was tender, the gravy rich without being heavy, and it paired perfectly with the simple white rice that let the complex spices shine. The tandoori goat chops were the family favorite by far. Everyone loved the smoky char and bold marinade. Personally, I found them a bit softer than I prefer, but the flavor was outstanding--robust, well-seasoned, and unmistakably tandoori. Finally, we ordered the Tandoori Pomfret to go, and I had it later with rice porridge. It was absolutely scrumptious. The fish was fragrant, beautifully spiced, and still juicy, making it the perfect comfort meal with the warm, soothing porridge. Overall, Subham Chettinad Grill delivers authentic, soulful Indian cooking with layers of spice, heat, and aroma that feel both traditional and thoughtfully prepared. If you're looking for real South Indian and Chettinad-style flavors in Austin, this place is a must-try.
