Butter chicken, aloo gobi masala, navarathan kurma

Was at the hospital down the street and came here for dinner with my sister and her boyfriend, we got a dish each, and they were AMAZING! So glad we chose this place, HIGHLY recommend.

It'll all be gone.

The food was authentic, delicious and filling. Second trip here. I'd gatekeep but they can use the business.

Boneless chicken lunch special

I went to Biryani Pot today to experience some Indian food in Austin, TX. The restaurant inside is fine, seems a little basic but clean. Water immediately came out as I sat down and a large cracker (sorry don't know the name). My problem with my overall experience is I have no idea what I received to eat. Everything for the most part was good, but no idea what it was! This was even after asking a few times. There could have been a language barrier I'm not sure. I believe the boneless chicken dish consisted of butter chicken, chicken masala, a rice/meat dish, sweet fried pastry and a few other chicken varieties.

Spoiled Cilantro

Ordered Family pack chicken biryani combo. Good: Reasonably pricey , Good location, good chai. Bad: The food is not prepared with utmost care and quality. The business owner and chef needs to make food as if they are going to feed their own family. Here are the things we found in the food. Spoiled Lemons Spoiled Cilantro Over cooked burnt naan Come on give your best and cook fresh. That brings into question how the food is being handled behind the scenes and the attitude towards caring for others.

Lackluster biryani, hair in food, watery raita and flavorless mirchi ka salan. We got the chicken biryani and the vegetable biryani, and for a place called biryani pot, these were super disappointing. Portion sizes were the only pro but it definitely had no flavor, not a Hyderabadi biryani flavor or even a regular biryani flavor so we didn't even end up finishing our food. The usual accompaniments for these biryanis are the raita and mirchi ka salan which usually add to the flavor but these were unsatisfying. The salan had no taste at all and the raita was more water than yogurt as you can see in the pictures below. Worst of all, there was a hair in my raita! I've attached photos for that as well. Honestly a terrible experience overall. For the price especially this was not worth it, flavorless biryani with like 3 pieces of chicken?

Chick pea and cauliflower

This place was recommended to me by an Indian national (thanks Ramesh!) that lives not too far away. It's a pretty sterile environment inside. Definitely not a date night place. Tile floor and stainless steel walls. But we were there for lunch, so not a problem! Menu is large, and they have lunch specials - but not on weekends - so we just grabbed some potato/cauliflower and chickpea dishes. Both came with well cooked rice, and were spicy and delicious! They seem to do a big take out business, and we can see why. Great food, with good portion sizes. We'll be back for more!

Went solo tonight. Got a signature boneless chicken and a paleo paneer with onion naan Togo. Will post quality of it asap.

Family Pack - Chicken Dum Biryani: this was really good.

This is my friends favourite place for the past 3 years. He swears that they have the same consistent taste every time he's ordered. We ordered few dishes and i have not been disappointed : Family Pack - Chicken Dum Biryani: this was really good. Came with a complimentary chicken 65 dish. Chicken 65: was okay Malai Kofta: kids and adults loved it alike. Quick service as well.

Hyderabadi Murg Masala
Tina D.

The food here is delicious. I love their garlic basil naan, very buttery. I got the hariyali chicken kebab. The flavor was slightly creamy and the chicken was soft. It didn't come with rice. I also got the Hyderabadi murg masala. It was spicy and went really well with rice. I recommended this if you like a lil bit of a kick. Please bring cash for tipping the waiters since they don't actually receive the full amount through card. Well come again.

June 7, 2025 review ---…read moreWe visited this place with our friends and got paneer Pulav, rava dosa, poori aloo. We never had Pulav here before but thought of trying because it was listed as new item. My husband was craving for poori so we got the poori aloo and ofcourse, rava dosa is one of the best here so we didn't want to miss that. We got poori pretty quick and were told that other items were coming pretty soon. Rava dosa came after in few mins but it was soggy and cold. You can tell that it's not just came out of tawa. It looked like an old order to me. I asked to call the manager and told about dissatisfaction with rava dosa. He first tried to defend, then I asked him to touch and tell and if it's fresh. He said he will get it replaced and get a fresh one coming. Ofcourse that took 15-20 mins to come. Paneer Pulav was good. Not too spicy and it came with yogurt to balance. Rice was also sticking to each other so it looked like paneer biryani to me but ofcourse very balanced spices version. My friend also ordered the veg keema Pulav but I like the paneer one more. Service can be hit or miss so I'm reducing one star but overall good quality is good. Also when I visited this back in June, they had the buy 2 Pulav at a certain price offer going on. We looked at it later and checked that out cheque had individual priced for each Pulav. Manage gave the reason as we ordered two in 15 mins gap. He later offered us the balance as courtesy but we didn't take it. I think this should have been accounted while creating the cheque in first place. Overall good place for vegetarian south Indian food.

The food is great. It's a real shame I never want to go back…read more Saturday night, prime dinner time, the place is all but abandoned. Despite that, service is plodding, slow and inattentive. The appetizer was served last, and it wasn't even piping hot, as if they had just made it. You only get one tiny 8-ounce plastic bottle of warm water to drink, unless you go out and grab another one out of the pack in the other room. That said, the dosa is excellent, textures and flavors on point. Onion pakoda are crave-worthy, crispy and well seasoned. The spices are bright and bold, unrestrained, and deeply satisfying. It's fantastic that so many options are vegan as is. Unfortunately, the issues with payment was the final straw. I had a coupon that seemed to completely flummox the poor guy, and while fumbling with my phone, executed the transaction with Google pay, which is not at all how I wanted to pay. He "couldn't" refund it, for some reason. It makes me so sad. Seems like a great, family-run place with excellent food. I won't be revisiting.

We had the best server, our little group quickly vibed with her! Of everything we sampled, the Samosa Chat and Sag Chicken were my absolute favorite - the spice was on point. Because our group enjoyed spicy foods, our server generously brought us out a unique New Year's drink, and let me tell you, I need to have that on the regular! All in all, a great restaurant!

I tried the Ulavacharu soup--absolutely delicious. It's main ingredient is horse gram, which apparently is in the legume family. It wasn't like any soup I've had before, so description is a bit tough. It was fairly spicy to start with, but less so as I kept eating it. The only things I could identify was ground up horse gram, some sweet onions, and some thinly shaved ginger, but it had a lot of complexity. Highly recommend that and the rose milk (especially if you need some relief from the spiciness when you start out.) I had a little bit of my friend's butter chicken sauce, and that was excellent too. More heavily tomato-based than I'm used to, but a lot of depth of flavor. I'd happily order that in the future. I can't wait to come back and try their buffet when my diet restrictions are over :) Service was great. I asked if a few of the menu items have coconut in them since I'm allergic, and our server double checked with the kitchen for me and was very nice about it. Really pretty dining room as well. The location isn't as central as I'd like, but that does make it easy to find parking in the lot. Definitely recommend!

We ordered the goat biryani, Maharaja Punjabi Dal and Baigan Bharta with a tandoori roti. Each of these dishes were delicious! Both came with fresh white basmati rice. Clifton was very kind to adjust the spice levels for us when the Bharta turned out too spicy. He was very attentive and checked on us a few times to make sure we are enjoying our dinner! We saw him working very hard with all the other guests too. He was preparing cocktails, & drinks etc. while attending to all guests! What we liked most was that the food had a home made quality, and it did not upset our gastrointestinal systems! :) The restaurant ambiance is good. The cutlery and glassware were clean! Overall, If you are looking for a good Indian Restaurant then Jaipur Palace is very good in Austin!! The prices are very attractive in these times! We hope it stays this! Portions are very generous and can easily have enough for 2-3 meals. The rice was nice and fluffy and the sauce was very rich in flavor. The Vegetable Pakora was by far the favorite. Not pictured but also got the Mithai Chaat and it was alright, would suggest picking a different dessert.
