Situation: I'm an Uber Eats driver who went in the store to pickup an order. The order was delayed, so I stood waiting at a table near the counter. The manager, for whatever reason, disliked the fact that I stood up and rudely demanded several times that I either sat down or waited outside despite being physically near the table. I called him out on his rude behaviour and threatened to post a negative review online, and his response was to ask me to cancel the order as a method to avoid admitting or apologising for what he did. I was near the table the entire time, does it really matter if I was standing up or sitting down? Who gets upset over such a minor matter? read more

Such a good hidden gem. As soon as we got there we were greeted kindly and got a table very quickly. The interior decor is very classy and clean as well. To start with a drink, I got the lime mint mojito mocktail and the cream lassi and both were so good and refreshing. On to the food, we got the garlic naan, seafood curry, oven baked salmon, and sag paneer. All were amazing. Each had an amazing flavor, was perfectly cooked, and a generous portion size. My personal favorites were the seafood curry because of how much seafood they gave and the sag paneer. The staff were all so kind and attentive and really elevated the dining experience. This place is really a top tier spot for Indian food in Austin. I will definitely be coming back to try their other dishes, especially the momos. read more

We used to order takeout from this place during COVID, and the food was decent. Recently, we decided to try dining in. The experience was okay overall. We ordered the Fried Bhendi as an appetizer, along with Chole and Paneer for the main dishes. The flavors were a bit underwhelming--maybe next time I'll go for the "hot" spice level instead of "medium." We were a party of 4, came to Saffron's for a birthday and Christmas lunch. This was our first dining experience here and absolutely enjoyed everything. We started out with Samosa's (2 per order) and vegetable momo's (8 to an order), appetizers alone were filling and plentiful. Moving on to entrees, we had the thali with chicken curry, the chicken lazeez, saag paneer, butter chicken, chicken korma and garlic naan. All, I mean ALL appetizers and entrees were piping hot fresh and perfectly seasoned and flavored, not overly salted or spicy and the proteins were moist and tender. This place is worth driving 20 miles for me! If you're looking for a new fave, don't look any further, this is definitely my GO TO . Surprisingly, it was not busy at all. I'm very happy to update my review from a few days ago regarding Saffron's response to a food quality report. The owner reached out, and I just want to say how incredibly touched I was by their response. They addressed all of my concerns with compassion and are taking real steps to address situations where customers call in to report potential food quality issues. Employees are now receiving retraining on how to respond to reports like the one I detailed in my previous review. Like I mentioned, I wasn't even as disappointed about the situation itself as I was upset about the response. Even if they originally messed up (which everyone does at some point!), the owners have shown they're willing to address serious feedback and act on it immediately. I must reiterate that the food at Saffron is truly fantastic, and after over a decade of living in Austin, we have not found a better place for great Indian. Our favorite dishes are the Saag Lamb, Aloo Gobi, Chicken Tikka Kebab, and their Shrimp Fried Rice--but really everything is fantastic. Very happy that I was able to update my previous review and give this story a happy arc. :) read more

Service was great, one young woman was serving everyone and she was sweet. portions big for sharing, fish masala and goat biryani were very yummy. goat meat was flavorful and tender, my dad said he doesn't normally like goat meat but even he enjoyed it. the restaurant was also cute and nice. I don't normally eat Indian food, so I can't speak to how authentic Saffron is. However, it seems to have a lot of fans--just look at the number of highly rated reviews! I did get a reservation for a Friday night, but I doubt you need one. It was relatively empty even during peak dinner hours. Staff is SO nice and friendly. My friends and I ordered the momos, garlic naan, tikki masala, and one other eggplant entree that I can't remember the name of. The momos were really good--skin was really silky and thin. I'm not a huge fan of coconut, but even the sauce was yummy. My friends really loved the momos. The chicken tikki masala is really creamy, and I thoroughly enjoyed it with basmati rice. I like that it's more tomato-based than cream-based. I am normally a huge garlic naan fan, but I wish they had added more garlic and butter to the naan. Regardless, texture of the naan was awesome and I think I ate an entire portion by myself. My friend's potato eggplant entree dish was so delicious. My friends really enjoyed it and thought it was the star of the show. I would definitely come again! A great experience with my friends. read more

I bet it is even more scrumptious when they are eaten right after they are prepared. I also loved the taste of their Chicken 65. I don't mind if they would make it a little spicier. My husband ordered the Chicken Tandori and Channa Masala. He really liked the Channa, he said the chickpeas still have a little crunch to it, which gives the dish a little more contrasting textures. I really enjoyed this cute fusion Indian style restaurant. I didn't eat at the establishment but instead, ordered a to-go. Because they make everything from scratch, I expect about a 20-30 minute wait. I ordered a customized order. Spicy, Vegetable Tikka Masala, rice, garlic naan and samosas! Their samosas are about the size of a size medium hand, full of flavor, potatoes, peas, and other veggies stuffed inside of a fried wrap! But the real star of the show was their vegetable tikka masala. I got them to make it spicy and it was the right thing to do. It was so incredibly creamy, filled to the brim with fresh vegetables, all of the spices that you can expect in a traditional masala dish! This is a great Indian food spot in a strip center on Far West Blvd. There are a lot of tables and a few booths. Post Covid, they no longer offer a lunch buffet but we've dined enough times to know what we like. The samosas, samosa chat, madras chicken curry, saag paneer, lamb vindaloo, and great selection of naan breads. They have good Indian beer and you can bring your own wine for a minimal corkage fee. This was my first visit to Saffron. It's a Nepalese Indian fusion restaurant , so I knew it's gonna be good. There is ample parking space and it was a easy walk in on a weekend for lunch. We didn't have to wait in line. The ambience is very nice and restaurant looked very clean. The hostess was very kind as well.. gave us enough information to make the right calls on the dishes we wanted to try out. I decided to go for a Thali to get to taste a bit of everything. My chicken tikka masala thai came with 2 vegetarian dishes (Bhindi and dal), papad, tandoori roti, rice and gulab jamun. My husband decided to get chicken biryani. All of the food was so delicious. We were very happy with the quality, taste and spice level. I am excited to come back again to try out Nepalese momos. The price is reasonable for the quality and quantity of food. Qualifier: I don't have a lot of experience with Indian food beyond our local ISKCON Temple (definitely worth a visit, and the delicious prasad/lunch afterwards IS amazing) BUT this spot is an absolute treasure, especially if you're a curry-lover. Niraj recommended the bone-in Saffron Goat Curry. I was in a mood so I jumped on it, extra spicy - the fatty goat and delicate rice balances all the fire. It's aromatic, elegant, savory, exciting, better the next day. If you have more respect for your tastebuds, medium or hot may yield more of the ginger, garlic, and aromatic curry flavors. Goat is like a delicate pot roast, oh-so-tender, not gamey at all, an absolute delight. Samosas are good too, sure to find more to love. read more

I was looking for something warm to eat at a place I've not been to before. Stumbled upon Saffron on Open Table (yes, they take reservations, and I would recommend them!). When you enter the restaurant, you are greeted with a deep, authentic smell of spices that exude the warmth that I was looking for. The restaurant itself is a relatively casual space and while small, feels well spaced. We started with the samosas, which had good seasoning and were well prepared. I went for the Chicken Tikka Masala since I enjoy it and consider it indicative of if a place is good or not. I tried the Murg Shahi Korma that Meg T ordered and it was also good. We ordered a side of Basmati rice and the Garlic Naan. The main course portions are absolutely filling - I may have even overate as it was so good. The Garlic Naan was incredibly fresh and flavorful. I would return here. Authentic, friendly and reasonably priced. There is free parking in the shopping center as well. read more

All of the curries came with basmati rice too. It was way too much food for 3 people but we loved it! The chicken tikka masala was the best curry and the magi lassi was amazing. The gulab jamun was really good too! So fresh that the lady brought out a container that was too hot to hold. The naan was great too. The other curries were good but not as much of a standout. All the curries were sealed really well too. Nothing leaked in my car which was super appreciated. I will say the online ordering is a little confusing. There are two ordering options on their mobile website with seemingly different items on the menu and one didn't have descriptions so we just called it in. I had some time to kill before a late appointment, so I decided to grab dinner in Northwest Austin. This place popped up nearby with great reviews. At around 545 on a Thursday night, I was the only table. But I noticed that they were doing a bustling to go business as well. I probably saw eight orders pop up just in the time I was there. My waitress later told me that the storefront has only been reopened for a month, so that makes sense that the word isn't an out yet that they have dine in. For a strip center off of Far West Boulevard, this place has a fantastic ambience. I love the mural, the lighting, the tables, the incense. I'm obsessed with brussels sprouts so I ordered those with a mango lassi. Both were absolutely perfect. I was so excited to try Nepalese food, but I literally chickened out and got the chicken tikka masala. And I think I made a great decision, this was the best I've ever had.
