Very cool spot, today was my wife and I's first time eating here. She got the Tikki wrap with chicken tikki, and we got a side of fries with tikki masala sauce on the side, and I got 2 of the spicy chicken tikki tacos! My two tacos were amazing! Super fresh, mouth bursting flavors, lil spicy but not to bad just seriously delicious. I do wish the naan was a tad bit more garlic-y but other than that 10/10. The fries were also super good, i know theyre just fries, but dipping them in the tikki masala sauce, damn good! My wife liked her wrap, but said there was to much cheese for her liking, and it was just sort of weird having cheese with the indian food flavors in her opinion. She said she would do the wrap again but with no cheese... and she also really loved my tacos.... We will definately be back to try the bowls and pizza one day, although my tacos were hard to beat! I ordered Tikka Shack through Uber Eats because I was REALLY craving Indian food, so maybe my expectations were a little too high, but unfortunately this just didn't hit for me. Overall, I thought the food was just okay and didn't really satisfy the craving I was hoping it would. I also felt like the portions were surprisingly small for the price, so it didn't feel like a great value. One thing that especially caught me off guard was that they charge by each individual piece of naan, which honestly felt a little excessive considering how expensive everything already was. I know delivery can sometimes affect the quality of the food, so I can only speak to my experience ordering through Uber Eats. Based on this meal though, I left feeling a little underwhelmed and don't know that I'd order from here again. With so many great Indian restaurants around, I personally think there are better options when you're craving Indian food. read more

I popped by for dinner last week after seeing the great reviews. Unfortunately, both meals I sampled did not live up to expectations. My tikka wrap was almost entirely mozzarella with a smattering of chicken bits, tomato, and onion. It overwhelmed me, an avowed cheese lover, so I maxed out after two bites. The word "tikka" immediately tells me this is Indian food, and when I saw pizza and tacos on the menu, I knew I had to try it! The fact that they use naan as the base, instead of just stuffing tikka chicken into a tortilla, makes it so much better, in my opinion. There are two self-order kiosks at the front, and they're super easy to use. Also, I always appreciate places that provide lemon at the water station--nice touch! My to-go order was ready quickly, and I loved how the staff labeled which sauce went with each item. They even packed the sauces separately to avoid sogginess, which is such a thoughtful detail. I ordered the samosa, the shrimp coconut curry naan taco, and the tikka pizza with chicken. Honestly, all three were really good! The samosa was fried perfectly. I was expecting it to be greasy since it was takeout, but it wasn't at all! It was crispy on the outside and hot and fluffy on the inside. The mint sauce it came with was refreshing and paired perfectly with the samosa. The shrimp coconut curry taco was delightful. On a whim, my sister, husband and I ordered Tikka Shack for delivery one Saturday for lunch and the minute I saw the menu, I knew I had to try everything. Here are the things that are worth it: Paneer pizza - great flavor, not dry like a lot of other desi pizzas I've tried, not too spicy if that's what you're looking for Malai kofta - one of my fave dishes of all time, I actually really liked theirs, it was pretty standard overall but not sweet which I hate when places do Garlic naan - enough said Paneer kebab - it was good, I liked the mango salad it comes with which is a little bit spicy. The rice ended up being a bit dry, but I may order again. The chicken taco was flavorful, but I felt that using a naan as a tortilla was a bit too much - too thick and dry and doesn't soak up flavor that well. The paneer taco was good too, but again same issue with the naan and you could get those same flavors in a different form (pizza, kebab, plate) and it would probably be more worth it in my opinion. We visited in person a few weeks later and also got the samosa chaat which was very spicy but a good little snack. Definitely overpriced for some of the items and you could probably get better at an Indian grocery store food stall, but for what I was looking for, it hit the spot. read more

I like this place! I've been three times and have gotten the same dish--the butter chicken with garlic naan. The flavor is good, and I like that you can choose your spice level. The chicken 65 was flavorful but not authentic tasting, and a little different. I'd recommend coming here if you're looking for an Americanized take on tradition Indian food and enjoy that. Tried Tikka Shack out for lunch on a weekday. It was slow after 12:45, and we had the place almost to ourselves. We tried their eponymous tikka masala along with rice and garlic naan, along with a chaat plate with aaloo tikki, and a paneer makhani pizza. Also had a cup of chai. The tikka masala with veggies was somewhat bland, and more importantly, the veggies were not integrated well with the masala; they were just tossed with the sauce. We'll have to try a different curry the next time. The pizza was not well done to our liking; we took the rest of it home and baked it some more. Chai was good. My employer offers Lunchdrop food deliveries and today Tikka Shack was an option so I ordered the Lamb Tikka Masala with basmati rice. The spice options on Lunchdrop were "house, hot or extra hot" and I'm a medium spice level girlie so I just went with the house to be safe, but it was very mild so maybe I could have tried for the hot. I thought the butter chicken was good! The chicken could have been more juicier in my opinion but the flavor was good. One thing i like about this place is they allow you to specify spice level. I chose extra hot but it was just barely mild for me. The samosa's were okay. The curry comes in a paper plate which soaks through so not ideal and since the lid is plastic anyways might be better if you went plastic for the base too/ Service was fast and the inside has a fast casual feel to it. Tried this place for the first time yesterday. I found it when looking for good Indian restaurants in the area when an out of town business colleague asked to meet at an Indian restaurant. I don't think I've ever had naan pizza before and it was good as was the curry. There were only two other people there when we arrived so I think the people working there waited on us like a traditional restaurant vs the normal wait in line to order process. The samosas were good, but they only had a green sauce and no tamarind sauce to go with them. It seems to be similar to a fast food Indian place like Tarka. Tikka Shack is located in the corner of the North Cross shopping that also has Hopdoddy, Precision Camera, and Dragon's Lair Comics. It's the spot formerly occupied by Project Pollo (RIP). Overall, the food there is pretty good. They are a fusion restaurant, so you have the option of Indian-inspired tacos, pizza, as well as more traditional curries and Indian dishes. We had table service, but I think you can also order at the counter. The food was served in disposable containers with plastic ware, so this is definitely more of a fast casual type of place, but the staff was very friendly and eager to have our business, which I appreciate. Also, it's a chain, so I think you can download the app and look for discounts, but we didn't know that before going. read more

Food is very good, but it is spicy. Even their "house" (least spicy option) is spicy. The interior is very cute! One warning: if you get stuff "to go"-check it before you go. My food was spilling over into the bag even before I walked out of the store, and the sauce got all over EVERYTHING. Pretty good curry! And the spice levels run higher than the typical Americanized places so beware! Portions were a good size, especially the tacos! Those were huge and even more spicy! I think this is run by the same people as Masala Wok without the indo-chinese specialities. ItItss more a fast casual concept like its competitor Tarka across the way. I like this one better than Tarka as I find the curries more flavorful here and it's a tad more fresh with more distinctive spice mixtures in their preparation. I got the Meth Malai and was satisfied as it had dry fenugreek and was something different than the standard butter or masala curries. I got double lamb for extra and it was overflowing with lamb so definitely if you want more protein pay a little extra for added meat. The curry was tasty but could have been a little more spicier. Next time I will be more brave and get a higher spicier level. The naan was ok. One thing though is when you get the food to-go they put the rice and the curry in the same container. It would be nice if they were separated as the container got kind of soft with the double steam from the rice and curry. +1 for using more sustainable containers. read more

As an Indian person, I can say that the fusion food at tikka shack is good, but it's not the most authentic. The service is good and the ambiance is nice for an Indian fast casual place. We ordered masala fries (better than masala wok), cutlet (not our favorite because it was soft instead of crispy), tikka pizza (good but spicy) and biriyani (not our favorite). We really like the tikka sauce pizza and the masala fries. We'd come back for those two but probably skip the other entree and app we ordered this time. This place is right next to dragons lair. It took over the space where project pollo used to be. Husband and I saw it on our way in to dragons lair to play some games and decided to give it a shot for dinner. We are thoroughly impressed! And the prices ain't bad either. We left both satisfied. Husband got a chicken tiki masala and I got the malai kofta. Both of us got naan, and we also got samosas for an app. We didn't add any spice to our curries but both are minorly spicy as they regularly come so keep that in mind if you can't stand spice. Is Tikka Shack traditional Indian food? Definitely not, and it doesn't claim to be. Is it tasty? Absolutely. I started off with the biryani and a side of naan, which I enjoyed. I get biryani every time I'm in Singapore, and I've never had a biryani in the US live up to that, so I was happy with this one, but not blown away. The naan was very good, as was the mango lassi. The left-field star of the show was the spicy chicken tikka taco though. First off, the portion size is huge. It comes on a full-sized piece of pillowy naan, and there's a generous amount of chicken tikka masala, along with a cabbage slaw, pieces of mango and tomato, and cilantro on top. If you're spice-averse, this wasn't incredibly hot. More like a small kick, and everything on that taco went so well together. The tikka taco and a mango lassi would make a perfect dinner for me. My friend got the tikka pizza, which was a different story. The description said the base was also naan, but it tasted a lot more like pizza dough, and had a much denser texture than the other naan. You couldn't taste the tikka sauce at all, the chicken was dry, and the cheese was way too creamy to have so much of it on there. The cheese was pretty much all you could taste, along with a bit of pizza dough aftertaste. If I could make it myself, I would bake the naan by itself so it could rise, spoon a bunch of the chicken tikka on top with a generous amount of tikka sauce, sprinkle just a bit of cheese, broil for a minute, and then put a good amount of cilantro on there at the end. Still rating Tikka Shack 5 stars because my food was amazing, but I'll steer clear of the pizza option when I go back because the taste was just odd and nothing meshed. Ambiance was nice--casual, clean, cute vibe. The service was excellent. Even though you use a self check-out kiosk to put your order in, the owner was standing next to it and answering questions. He also came back to check in on us after we'd had a chance to try our food, and was really friendly and welcoming. read more

I ordered to go and the customer service was great however the food was just okay. I got the wrap and it was a good size and looked good, but there was more cheese than anything else and I think the cheese made it lack in flavor. Also, they laid my wrap over the salad and the mango got my wrap so soggy I could barely pick it up. I will try it again, maybe no cheese next time and ask to separate the wrap from the salad. Also a dressing rather than a sauce for the salad would be better in my opinion. The sauce was good for dipping the wrap, but not for the salad and it tasted dry. read more

This place passed my Samosa litmus test with flying colors. One of the best samosas I've had in Austin in a long while. I always order their Chole Masala plate and it never disappoints. Also had their Goan Vindaloo Chicken. Reminiscent of Masala Wok (without the Chinese dishes), it has good consistency, good food, quick and attentive service.
