I really never write reviews, but this place is now my favorite spot for Indian cuisine in Austin. Pristine restaurant, amazing service and well... have you ever had Irani chai? I'm now obsessed. This was the best chai I have ever had and well I'm not a newbie to Hyderabad style cuisine. Of course the food was absolutely amazing, and beautifully presented. Sangam Chettinad seems to be getting a lot of social media attention, and if you think that place is great, your mind will change when you eat here! Fresh roses on the tables also upped the ambiance. We had take out from here over 5 years ago and I remember it being so good that I recommended this place to a friend today. We sat inside and ate there this time. The chicken 65 was still as good as I remembered except the side of rice was really strange. It was DRY! Not as dry as raw rice. It was definitely cooked and then it seems like it sat out for a long time and got dehydrated. I was really turned off by the rice. I don't even know why I packed it to go. I regret tainting my chicken 65 by putting it in the same to go box. :( I'll be trying a different place next time. read more

This place could be hit or miss. The curries are just ok and few of the biryani's are either average or good. The ambience is just what you see in an average strip mall restaurant. The service is basic and the cleanliness average. I would recommend this place for to-go food rather than a dine-in experience. read more

Nice location and very kind staff. However, this place suffers from being a bit of a generic American-style Indian restaurant. The pani puri were a tiny serving, though the filling was on point. The curries were pretty standard. We had the malai kofta, and the kofta tasted fresh and rich. The chicken curry was a bit bland. Food was all packed with flavor. I would have enjoyed fewer bones in the goat sukkha but it wasn't too bad. Biriyani was a bit too heavy with cardamom the chutney and raita that came with it helped bring down the strong cardamom flavor. Tandoori roti was good but they did feel a bit thin and brittle, so I'm assuming they were out for a while and not freshly made. Would have been great to get freshly made food. Chicken chettinad nailed it. Especially with the white basmati mixed in. Service was good. Waitress couldn't answer some basic questions that we asked but we figured it out. The restaurant was relatively empty and yet the service was lacking. We waited for 20 minutes for the appetizers and them another 30 minutes for the main course. The server never once came to check in or tell us what was causing the delay. This place was AMAZING! For my first time having Indian food...I was very impressed. We picked one menu item to share then asked our server to pick us a second. I notice when I have a server pick a dish often times they point out something expensive but our server picked a great dish that was on the cheaper side which makes me feel it was an honest recommendation. The portions were also huge (My boyfriend typically eats an entire pizza by himself) and we didn't finish all the food. The flavors were vibrant and appetizing and. The service was fast and friendly the entire time and when I called ahead. This is a must try and we will definitely be back!! I love that tables are all set when you walk in to give it an extra fancy feel and they are placed upside down on mats to maintain cleanliness standards. I've been to Biryani and Co 4 times in the last 2 months just to be sure my rating stays the same ;) Their chole bhature is to die for!!! I had Malai Kofta there for the first time recently and it was one of the best Indian dishes I've ever had. They even have a little appetizer bar and lots of interesting little desserts for purchase at the checkout area. Service can be a bit slow sometimes but your food tends to come out quickly and FRESH. We got the chicken biryani--it was our first time trying this dish but it definitely won't be our last! Wonderful flavor and the chicken was so tender. The spices all come together wonderfully and the rice was perfectly cooked (not mushy and overdone). The people who worked there were so kind and cheerful. We got it to go, but after going inside to pick it up and seeing all the dishes in the window, we definitely want to come back to try at the restaurant. The food was delicious, enough to make it my favorite Indian place in Austin. For reference, I ordered the chef special chicken curry and my husband had the chicken vindaloo, with a side of garlic naan, of course. I can only describe the ambiance as... odd. Nice lighting, plenty of seating with every placemat already set... and yet we were the only customers eating there on a Friday evening. We witnessed about 8 DoorDash or to-go orders while there, so the food is certainly popular, but the restaurant itself was empty. So please, if you go here, dine in. The service was great. Our waiter took our order promptly and we got our food in about 15 minutes. About five minutes in, our waiter came by to put a rose on our table (I thought that was a sweet touch). And, as we were finishing our meal, they came by to give us a free dessert! I never learned what it was called, but it was a well-spiced bread pudding and tasted great. Easy 5/5 stars read more

While I am sure it is busy for lunch, it is usually very chill in the evenings. I feel like the name of the restaurant makes you think it is some kind of Americanized fast food type of establishment. Don't let the name throw you off. Order the chicken dum biryani and/or the kebabs with jeera rice. We went here the other day and it was really good! We got the biriyani (of course) and I got Chana masala. I did not try the biriyani because my husband got it with chicken but he said it was really good and enjoyed it. They also don't skimp on the portions so that is nice. My Chana masala was made just right and had a good amount of spice to it. The menu also had a bunch of fusion items which looked interesting. We will definitely try this place again because there were so many vegetarian options to choose from! Best tikka masala, korma, and naan (cheese naan!!!)! After eating here, these dishes just don't taste quite right elsewhere. Everything is seasoned richly and i feel like i can taste the care put into their recipes. The staff is also attentive and very sweet! The restaurant space itself is usually low traffic, even during peak hours. It's a nice place to get a sit down meal and have a conversation. Over the years I've eaten at a few Indian restaurants in Austin. Most have been disappointing or mediocre at best. And several provide Nepalian style recipes, that I personally am not a fan of. Biryani & Co. Is probably the first Austin Indian establishment that I have thoroughly enjoyed. It's a nicely decorated strip center location, but as a foodie I don't really care much what a place looks like, provided it appears clean. Our server was friendly and attentive. The food came super-hot in traditional metal containers that helped the curries stay at serving temperature. We tried the Sag Paneer, Makai Kofta, Eggplant, and Chana Masala. All were spiced (level) as ordered - we like a good amount of kick - and very flavorful and aromatic. Also for the first time I had a chicken biryani without bones, and found the meat surprisingly as tasty as boned versions of this dish. We also enjoyed an onion culcha, and 4 bowls of perfectly prepared basmati rice. My only negative was the gulab jamón we shared for dessert. The pastries were dense and barely warm. I suspect from the fridge and then reheated - clearly not the fresh made delicate "donuts" I'm accustomed to. That said, the server voluntarily accommodated the 4 of us with a gulab jamón for each person, even though a standard order includes only 3 of the pastry balls. All in all, this was a nice authentic meal, so we will be sure to return next time we are in Austin. read more

We were near to this place and I wanted to try biryani here, so we decided to get a to go order of family biryani, thought of getting chicken biryani, I like goat biryani(at home) but in restaurants I usually get chicken biryani as I feel goat mutton in restaurants will be bit chewy side and still need to be done, but my dad doesn't wanted to eat chicken biryani so we ordered goat biryani, it came with small cup of appetizer and a dessert. Biryani, it's a regular Hyderabadi style, it had enough pieces of mutton and surprisingly cooked good, we were 4adults and 1kid, it was enough for all of us, even appetizer and dessert were good too. 4star is only for goat biryani as we haven't tried anything else but will go for dine in and try other items. read more

I was in Austin for the weekend and decided to stop in for lunch. I ordered veggie biryani, samosas, and buttered nan to go. The biryani was so good and flavorful! I ordered no extra spice but I liked that it came with sauce to add a bit more flavoring. The samosas were nice and hot and a decent size. The nan was nice and buttery. Overall this was a great little place to get some Indian food and reasonably priced too. The food was ready within 15 minutes and the overall service when picking up the food was pretty good too. Didn't like too much spice on the biriyani, however we had the same biriyani with mild option for to-go: that was great and flavourful. This little place is absolutely great on my first visit! I was in a bad mood, bored as I had to wait for a meeting, and dropped in almost to pass the time. I have eaten at the location in the South many times, but I do not like to compare restaurants that have more than one location as each stands on its on merit in my opinion. On my visit I ordered the goat combination (note this comes with bones, as I prefer) and it was much better than I expected at the lunch period. It was quite spicy, as I had hoped it would be, the bread hot and the service was on point. The starter items, if you wished, looked not as good by a long shot, but having food sit buffet style can be a bit of a jolt to the senses. I suggest to always order off a menu if possible and in this case I felt I was absolutely correct. I liked that it was not smoky with incense in the restaurant, so I was able to smell what I was eating. Browsing the menu was interesting, and there were a number of things that I want to come back and give them a try. I am usually disappointed in Indian restaurants curry that is served as it is usually adjusted to suit USA style of taste, and that is not what I want. If it passes my curry flavor test (all subjective by me of course), then this will be a place I frequent much more often. read more
