I was craving some Pakistani food and after eating some delicious Lahor Karahi in Manchester, UK I asked Chatgpt for a recommendation. This was the one that came up. Based on the food we ordered yesterday, I don't understand why this place is not more highly rated. We ordered, Beef samosas - since it was to go it was already soft. I think the flavor profile could have been better Mutton biryani - delicious, mughlai style Beef haleem - they ran out of goat haleem, so had to settle for this. It was mouth watering ly good Mutton karahi - probably my favourite dish. Loved the flavor profile Bullet garlic naan - had a nice spicy flavor Kheer - I think they added kesar or saffron. Loved it read more

We went on a Saturday and it took a long time for the food to come out. The mutton chops were slightly too burnt. The beef shawarma patties were decent. Both curries were got were good. read more

Solid spot. This was my first time trying Pakistani food and it was good! I went with a friend, so she made it easy to know what to try and how to eat the dishes. We had the panni purri, chicken tikka masala, and the family meat dish. The naan was good. Service is slow, considering there were not many people. Price is also on the higher end for the portion, but I'll still be back! read more

Had a good overall experience at Zaviya Grill in Austin. We ordered the biryani, mix grill, and nihari, and the food was enjoyable. The biryani had good flavor, the mix grill was nicely cooked, and the nihari was rich and satisfying. The restaurant has a spacious, clean, and comfortable atmosphere, and the staff was polite and welcoming, which we appreciated. One small area for improvement: the chai didn't seem fresh and felt pre-made, and the paratha we ordered for our daughter wasn't great--it tasted and looked like a store-bought frozen paratha. Aside from these minor points, it was a pleasant dining experience, and we'd still recommend Zaviya Grill for their main dishes and nice ambiance. read more

We ordered the special grill which came with a variety of meat options and 2 pieces of garlic naan. It's a good way to try a variety of kebabs. My favorites were the mutton chops and the chicken malai. There was plenty of food and could easily be shared among 2-3 people. Service was quick and attentive! read more

Very nice atmosphere and but we asked for To go Box's 4 times and didn't get. The other places food was good but this one isn't as good. My son was here with me on there 3 year anniversary and they gave balloons out to people but my son was waiting for quite a while. And he didn't get one. Would not go again. ALSO ONE OF THE DISHES HAS RICE AND WE DIDNT EVEN GET IT. The manger asked us to review here's your review. read more

A very mediocre experience at this restaurant. We ordered bun kabab and beef somosas which were just mediocre 5/10 not spicy at all. We also ordered paratha and this is where it gets negative we were served something called paratha but it was actually tortilla wrap that was made on a tawa grill I complained this is not a paratha but the waitress insisted that it was a Tawa paratha I told her a paratha is made of whole-wheat atta not this. the only good was the dhood pati chai. read more

I finally stopped by Zaviya Grill, and I'm genuinely surprised happy to find this place . From the moment I walked in, the aroma of spices filled the air, making me even hungrier. We started with their Goat Karahi, and it was perfectly cooked--tender, juicy, and full of rich, bold flavors. You can tell it's made fresh with quality ingredients. Next up was the Chicken Qorma--creamy, aromatic, and just the right amount of spice. It reminded me of family dinners back home. We also tried their Haleem, and it was comfort food at its finest. Thick, hearty, and beautifully seasoned. I'm not even a huge chai drinker, but their chai was the perfect ending. Warm, soothing, and just sweet enough. the staff is genuinely friendly and polite. So If you're craving authentic Pakistani food that's packed with flavor, Zaviya is absolutely worth the visit. I'm already planning to go back! read more

I was very disappointed in my goat Karahi order. Mostly bones and very little meat. I spent $70.00 on beef kabob, goat chops , goat Karahi and a chapati. Portion size was good on everything except for the mostly goat bone karahi. Disappointed for sure. read more

My friend wanted to try this place out so we went here on a Sunday afternoon and it wasn't too crowded. There's plenty of parking and the menu is QR code. I ordered the chicken skeeh kebab. we were visiting Austin from Boston MA and stopped by zaviya restaurant. The food proportion was so less and not at all presentable. We took juice out of the pitcher as soon as they saw us taking the juice they put it away that was ridiculous. We were big family and paid a handful amount for the food would we not pay for the juice. Overall not a place to be ambiance was so dull and floor was so dirty.Staff needs to get trained for customer service as well. Wouod never recommen. MS read more

Zaviya Grill is awesome and one of the few places where you can get Pakistani cuisine in the greater Austin area. The issue for me was always the service and it has improved a lot from before! Our go to's are goat biryani, goat karahi, chicken qorma, & halwa puri (weekends only). One biryani order is good enough for two people. Finally, the curries include white rice on the side! Have tried one of the mixed grill platters. It was a bit dry but good overall. I've definitely had better though. Last time we tried buffet was 2019 and it was really good...the mixed vegetables and the spicy fried chicken were my favorites after the biryani. I am not sure if they still do buffet during the weekdays. They do catering with super reasonable prices. I am super thankful for Zaviya Grill. Next on my to-try list is the goat brain masala! read more

After a recent trip here, we found the place remodeled and refurbished! The new tables and chairs give a welcoming feel. They even have a new dessert bar! They have delicious standards, such as chicken tikka and tikka masala, veggie samosas and briyani rice (of course, no shortage of naan bread). They also provide hot and sour as well as chicken and corn soup. Not to skip on desserts either, they have cheesecake bites, dough balls and rice pudding! Employees are friendly, and if your favorites are running low or missing altogether, just let them know, and they will take care of it. read more

Amazing place for Pakistani style food! As much as I love South Indian food, Austin has A LOT of them and sometimes I really miss my families style of cooking, this place felt like that! The biryani was delicious and tasted like how my mom would make it, halwa puri and Chana and potatoes on the weekends is a must here! Super generous portions, great service, I can't wait to be back! read more

Delicious food!!! I had the Chicken Malai Boti which was the most flavorful chicken I have ever had. The garlic naan and the plain naan were so fresh and unbelievably flavorful. We also had the Chana Masala which was a bit too spicy for me but was still good. When I had a forkful of the charred onions with the Chana Masala and rice it was perfection in my mouth. I have to say I was a bit reluctant to go because I wasn't sure if I would like anything. What a pleasant surprise!! Very clean too!!! read more

I think the prices here were affordable compared to other places. We came during dinner time, so it wasn't a buffet. I like the garlic naan. It wasn't too greasy. I also ordered the chicken Biryani, butter chicken, and chicken kahari. The chicken biryani was hot and good flavor. The rice was decent, but it could be softer. The butter chicken had a kick of spice to it. The chicken kahari meat was really soft and the curry was good with naan. read more

So first off I'm glad to see a place for Indian food that's actually good. As far as the negative reviews that I just read. All the one and two star negative reviews that keep repeating themselves over the past 2 years are just people having a big nasty mouth with the exception of one thing. They're pan fried naan bread is a big greasy It looks like they took the regular naan and soaked it up in a big old vat of Grease. But everything else on their buffet held really well even their tandoori chicken which at most Indian places is dry. I would say don't put as much naan on the hot table for it gets hard and crispy in a short amount of time less more often is better remember that. I have told a couple of other places that have buffet as well the same and I would rather wait a minute extra to have some fresh baked naan than to get a thick hard cracker. Still the flavor profile was amazing and I will be back. Oh it is completely self-service all the way down to getting your napkins and your silverware but the bussers are real quick to make sure that you sit back at a clean table so if you don't want your napkins and utensils thrown out in the time you walk up for your second plate then make sure you set it aside from your plate otherwise they're up to take it every time. Can't blame them for keeping a clean area for you right!? And they are not scared to add the true spice of Indian cooking which a lot of Indian restaurants lack on their flavor because Americans can't handle the true spice. Keep up the good work guys and remember constructive criticism I would love to see the few things I saw negative about this place change for the better let's try to figure out a way to execute these couple of items read more

My wife and I come here at least twice a month, usually on the weekend for their buffet. It's an easy option when we're looking for Pakistani food, and have a specific hankering for nihari and biryani. This place is usually comprehensively good, but occasionally seem very disorderly across many areas simultaneously, ie: floor is slippery and oily, biryani is plain, and grilled chicken is burnt. I just find it interesting that this place (although usually exceptionally good) has bad days where many things are problematic all at once. read more

Anything from the grill is great. Servings are extremely generous!! My favorite place to get paneer because they never skimp on it in the tikka masala. Perfectly spicy. The rice is also so good, sometimes I will just go buy some to have it on hand for a few days when I'm too lazy or busy to make on my own read more

Easy place to walk in, rarely a wait! Authentic pakistani food in Austin, not up to par with homemade pakistani food but closest thing you'll find to it eating out in Austin. Favorite was the chicken karahi. Critique is food is too heavy in oil and naan came out cold and not fluffy. read more

I stopped by for the first time yesterday after reading recent promising reviews. It was early (10:50a) as I ventured over from an appointment next door. Their open sign was flashing and the front door was open, so I walked in. The place was understandably empty due to the time of day but the workers were busy packing to go orders. Good for them! A lady worker/manager at the back order desk approached the register where I was standing with a mouthful of food chomping away openly and made near zero eye contact, and when she asked what I wanted and I said a Togo order, she shooed me away literally waving her arm in the air to come back after 1p. I would've waited an additional 10 -15 minutes if it was just an opening hours issue but her demeanor was awful. Bad day? Maybe. But I will not be back. read more

The biggest thing I miss about Houston is the food. After we moved away, I have been having a hard time trying to find a decent place that is actually authentic and spicy. This place is everything that I have been missing and more. The owners are super nice. The food is amazing. I even got to try some dishes I hadn't had before. Their Tandoori grilled chicken combo was tender, juicy and flavorful. The garlic naan was fluffy and almost melted in my mouth. I highly recommend the chicken karahi. When they say it's a spicy dish, they mean it. Unfortunately, a lot of places have toned down their flavor to accommodate taste buds here in Austin. This place doesn't compromise their traditional flavor and quality. We will definitely be ordering here again as it made all of us in our home very happy to finally have good Pakistani food. read more
