Used to be my go to place for Thali and for poori bhaji; last time we went there, the poor is weren't as good; the chana was actually hard to finish. Hope it was a one time glitch

This place is a hidden gem! I originally placed my order online, but when I got there I found out their tablet that does the online orders was down. No worries! I re-ordered from the nicest gentleman at the front for the 2 folks in my office (& of course I got something too). I ordered them the Fried Idli and Aloo Tiki and I got the Samosas and Mango Lassi. Everything came out hot, fresh and absolutely fantastic! The samosas come w this sauce made out of dates but it's sweet and DIVINE! I could have eaten the sauce solo it was so good! My mango lassi was also perfect consistency and just sweet enough. My staff enjoyed their food and said the fried Idli was VERY good! Hot fresh, crispy on the outside and pillowy soft on the inside. Please give this place a try if you're around! You will not be disappointed!

A decent place to get good street food. I'd give it a 4/5 star for authenticity, service, and taste. I got the samosa chaat. The chaat definitely had the right mixture of ingredients with layers of chickpea curry and crunchy samosa and was tangy and spicy. I just felt like it was missing the Dahi (yogurt) in the dish and didn't have quite the "umami down-right -addicting flavor." Prices were affordable. Will come back and try other dishes to give a more thorough review!

Cozy little counter service spot tucked in close to the Wally. Clean, cool and comfortable with a nice selection of authentic north and south Indian dishes. Among my favorites is the grilled paneer sandwich which has been brining me back here for years every time I'm in Austin. Masala Idli and spicy paneer roll are also very nice, as are the dosas. Not fast-food quick but well worth the wait for freshly prepared food. Plenty of free parking. Avoid the trauma of the I35+Parmer interchange and come in from North Lamar.

I went here after a long time. The interior has changed a bit. The tables and the place are cleaner. We went for breakfast at 9am on Saturday and ordered a masala dosa. They took some time, but got very fresh and hot dosa, and sambar. The taste was very good. Taking a star off as they can either make the ambience and serve better or reduce the prices.

I've been looking for authentic Indian street food for ages. Plenty of wonderful videos on YouTube to show you what your missing. This place has it. Don't be misled by the word vegetarian. This place is freakin awesome. If I ever had to give up meat permanently, I'd move to India. Southern India. And be fine with it. It's hard to describe the sweet, the savory, the sour, the salty, the perfect blend of spice from dish to dish. Each complimenting the next. Order big. Eat well. Not knowing what you'll bite into next, but knowing it will be good. Take the leftovers home and eat well again. These people originated from the country that invented spices. Us Euro-gins have only had a few centuries to master these flavors. These folks have had millennia. They know what they are doing; let them show you.

Chole Puri (should be Jain and vegan) - An Indian vegetarian meal with remnants of curry, fried bread, and noodle salad on a disposable plate, with side dishes and condiments on a wooden table.
    Suhani D.

I was dissatisfied with the quality of foods ordered. One order we placed was for Dahi vada and our party specifically asked for more chutney. We weren't given the chutney until we reminded them of it on several occasions. Secondly, we ordered bhen puri, and this order had unusually thick sev, and practically no vegetables. One of us asked for a Jain and vegan Chole puri, but they placed onions and pickles containing carrots (both of these are root vegetables). Their menu shows "VG" as "Vegan" and "VG OP" as "Vegan Option". However several dishes labeled as VG, contain paneer, yogurt and other dairy items. This is inaccurate because they are considered "Vegetarian". This menu needs to change that designation.

Puri bhaji! - A plate with fried Indian bread (puri), a bowl of lentil curry, and side condiments including chopped onions and a spicy chutney, served on a wooden table.

June 7, 2025 review ---…read moreWe visited this place with our friends and got paneer Pulav, rava dosa, poori aloo. We never had Pulav here before but thought of trying because it was listed as new item. My husband was craving for poori so we got the poori aloo and ofcourse, rava dosa is one of the best here so we didn't want to miss that. We got poori pretty quick and were told that other items were coming pretty soon. Rava dosa came after in few mins but it was soggy and cold. You can tell that it's not just came out of tawa. It looked like an old order to me. I asked to call the manager and told about dissatisfaction with rava dosa. He first tried to defend, then I asked him to touch and tell and if it's fresh. He said he will get it replaced and get a fresh one coming. Ofcourse that took 15-20 mins to come. Paneer Pulav was good. Not too spicy and it came with yogurt to balance. Rice was also sticking to each other so it looked like paneer biryani to me but ofcourse very balanced spices version. My friend also ordered the veg keema Pulav but I like the paneer one more. Service can be hit or miss so I'm reducing one star but overall good quality is good. Also when I visited this back in June, they had the buy 2 Pulav at a certain price offer going on. We looked at it later and checked that out cheque had individual priced for each Pulav. Manage gave the reason as we ordered two in 15 mins gap. He later offered us the balance as courtesy but we didn't take it. I think this should have been accounted while creating the cheque in first place. Overall good place for vegetarian south Indian food.

The appetizer was served last, and it wasn't even piping hot, as if they had just made it. You only get one tiny 8-ounce plastic bottle of warm water to drink, unless you go out and grab another one out of the pack in the other room. That said, the dosa is excellent, textures and flavors on point. Onion pakoda are crave-worthy, crispy and well seasoned. The spices are bright and bold, unrestrained, and deeply satisfying. It's fantastic that so many options are vegan as is. Unfortunately, the issues with payment was the final straw. I had a coupon that seemed to completely flummox the poor guy, and while fumbling with my phone, executed the transaction with Google pay, which is not at all how I wanted to pay. He "couldn't" refund it, for some reason. It makes me so sad. Seems like a great, family-run place with excellent food. I won't be revisiting.

Fortunately, when the food truck owner told me it was near the Psychic Reading building, I knew precisely where to go. This food truck is in the back of a building, where you walk down a path to get to it. There is a sign that points to the food truck area, but not tall enough to catch your attention. Alas, I was there. One of the things I learned pretty quickly was the difference between a vegan diet and Daniel's fast. To be transparent, the Daniel fast is more restrictive. For example, you can only eat unleavened bread on the Daniel fast, whereas you can eat leavened bread as a vegan (bread that have yeast or other agents to make the bread rise). In addition, vegans can eat processed foods and use sweeteners, whereas with the Daniel fast, you only eat items that come from the earth. After deciding on what met my criteria for Daniel Fast, I decided on the mung bean noodles with vegetables. The food truck owner was super kind to make suggestions. The noodles were translucent with a bit of spice. I really enjoyed the noodles. Only one other couple was present, who appeared to be a regular. Overall, laid back environment. We are almost at the end of week one of the Daniel fast. It has been a time of reflection and cleanse.

I love the mission they believe in--that wholesome vegan food is the key to a peaceful and healthy lifestyle. I recommend ordering to go, as your food will be aggressively attacked by flies if you try to eat there. Also, this is a CASH ONLY place, even if you order online. Their menu is hugeee, so it took us a while to decide what to get, but the prices are unbeatable for what you get. They also prepare the food pretty quickly and package everything nicely. Deep Ocean ($9): Crispy soy protein, chili, garlic, seaweed toast, and special chef sauce served on a bed of white rice. The best thing we tried here. The soy protein had a nice crunch, great flavor, and an addictive quality. In my opinion, you don't really need the rice--they can be eaten like French fries. Banh Mi Seitan BBQ ($6): It was really good the first time, but just okay the second. There was less "meat," and it lacked flavor. The bread was also soft, so I don't think they toasted it. Banh Mi Char-siu ($5): Not even close to char-siu texture or flavor, but it wasn't bad. Same issue with the bread and overall lack of flavor. Sticky Rice ($7): Soy protein, steamed sticky rice, crispy shallots, green onion, topped with house sauce. This item requires you to call in or order online ahead of time, as it takes a while to make. When we got it, it looked like they forgot the green onions. This vegan version lacked umami and isn't something we'd recommend. Signature Broken Rice ($9): Broken rice with shredded meatless protein (Cơm Tấm Bì), fried shredded potatoes, grilled BBQ seitan, char-siu, and homemade sauce. A great dish to start with since you get to try different proteins, and they give a generous portion. It was good but paled in comparison to the Deep Ocean.

The appetizer (tzatziki and pita) came out about 5 minutes after ordering and the entrees came out another 10 minutes after that. The girl working the cash register wasn't overly friendly or personable. PRICING - The total was $38.81 after tax ($2.96) but before tip for tzatziki and pita ($8.95), lamb gyro ($10.95), and moussaka ($15.95). I think the pricing is very reasonable for the portion size and quality of ingredients. TZATZIKI AND PITA (7/10) - This was a good tzatziki... it had a nice texture and thickness. It comes drizzled with olive oil and a sprinkle of Greek seasoning and 6 pita slices on the side with a little cucumber and tomato. I'd order this again as an appetizer! LAMB GYRO (7/10) - This was pretty loaded with lamb meat and tzatziki! The pita was warm and soft and it comes with a salad on the side with a spring mix, onions, tomatoes, and cucumbers dressed in some olive oil, balsamic, and a Greek seasoning. I'd order this again! MOUSSAKA (6/10) - This is one of my favorite Greek dishes and I love ordering it at restaurants since I don't typically make it at home... this one was pretty good but not mind blowing. You get a big slice and it's covered in plenty of cheese but it was a little greasy and you can see the oil pooling underneath of it. It comes with a side of fries sprinkled with a Greek seasoning and a salad with a spring mix, onions, tomatoes, and cucumbers dressed in some olive oil, balsamic, and a Greek seasoning. I'd order this again because it's a good amount of food for the price! This was my first visit to the Athens Cafe and the biggest highlight is how close it is to where I live... it's a great option for authentic Greek food in Wells Branch. The food isn't as good as what I've had in Greece, but it's a great option near Austin. I've heard great things about the owner and what great customer service she provides but she wasn't there when I visited. Overall, I will visit the next time I'm in the mood for Mediterranean cuisine and would recommend it to others looking for the same in the Wells Branch area.

Highly recommend that and the rose milk (especially if you need some relief from the spiciness when you start out.) I had a little bit of my friend's butter chicken sauce, and that was excellent too.
