Sandwich
Erica B.

Swung by to try out some ice cream on a hot June day in Austin. My son and husband ordered the bear bowl with the cookie bottom and ice cream on top. The portions in general were huge!! Not sure which was better- the cookies or the ice cream- but together they were delicious. I love that there are so many different cookie options to create a sandwich with along with the various toppings. I opted for mint chocolate chip ice cream on the regular chocolate chip cookies- it hit the spot. Only down side is the price point but guess that's expected in the Austin metro area. Ended up spending $35 with tip for the three of us (2 bowls and a sandwich).

Icecream Sandwich This place never disappoints! Brownie and chocolate and mint sandwich. Behind that is vegan cookie and sandwich icecream. Very fast order intake and good service. Seating area outside :)

I had baked bear a few years ago and I feel like either I didn't get the right flavors this time or maybe something changed. I mean you can see for yourself that the ice cream sandwich looks 10 out of 10 fire. I did the custom ice cream sandwich with vanilla ice cream two different cookies- one was the gooey butter cake (overpowering after a few bites) did not finish & the other was like a oreo & cookie mix (much better) and did finish. Vanilla ice cream was decent, but nothing special. I might get it again if I was in the area and really had a sweet tooth, but I would definitely go for some different flavors because they just didn't hit the same this time.

Cool concept, didn't feel worth the price. Ice cream was alright, brownie was alright, service was rushed (we were kind of late more toward closing so that's fair) finding this location was a little hard as we're not from here but overall fun place and definitely fixed my sweets craving. Location is in the middle courtyard you can access by the garage or through the underground garage via elevator.

I was craving something sweet after dinner and the baked bear hit the spot. I love how late they're open and I like all the outdoor seating available to enjoy your sweet treat while people watching. The ice cream here is sooo good. The cookies alone are ok but with the ice cream it's chef's kiss. The portion size is huge so you get a good bang for your buck.

The Baked Bear is such a fun spot for an ice cream sandwich. They have tons of flavors and the cookies are homemade, soft, and literally melt in your mouth. You can pick cookies or brownies for your sandwich, and the combinations are endless. The service is great and everything feels fresh and thoughtfully made. The inside is a bit small, but this location has a really nice lawn and patio area where you can sit and enjoy your treat. It's the perfect place to hang out, especially on a warm day. Pro tip: choose two different cookies so you can try more than one flavor, and always get your sandwich warmed up. It takes it to a whole new level. Such a unique and delicious stop in Austin.

Love this place for my late night sweet treat fix! I've been here quite a few times and always bring my friends since it was so close to my old apartment. It's the perfect amount of warm and gooey from the cookies and refreshing cool sweetness from the icecream. I always get the Nutella cookies with the Oreos mixed into my ice cream. Elite combo. Also it's nice sitting on the lawn with friends in the outdoor area to eat your cookies too, inside is a bit too small/cramped to enjoy eating and chatting.

I was really excited to try The Baked Bear, my brother had mentioned the SF location is something he'd been wanting to try for a long time. So naturally when we were in Austin. We excitedly went to check out The Baked Bear. Unfortunately, it didn't live up to the hype. The cookies were pretty good, but not amazing or anything. The brownie was dry, but luckily not too brittle, and the ice cream wasn't all that amazing either. The service was fast and friendly, although the heating up option still left the cookie and brownie pretty cold, so I don't think it really made a difference. The ambiance is simple, there's only a few seats to sit and enjoy the food inside, it seems like most people were taking it to go. Food: 3/5 Service: 4/5 Ambiance: 3/5 Value: 2.5/5 Overall: 3/5

Must try dessert it was delicious with custom cookie sandwiches. You can create a sandwich with two different cookies or one cookie and make it a bowl. It won't get messy as they give a proper plate for it all. All cookies are so soft was it makes it great and ice creams are not all basic either. Great spot to eat after too outside as it's in a small park.

I have a sweet tooth and this place did not disappoint. I love how you can make your own custom ice cream sandwiches with house made cookies or brownies. The options are endless. The outdoor space is great as well. There's plenty of seats and you can play with your pet or children outside. Such a relaxing way to spend a nice day!

We tried the cookies and cream cookie sandwich with s'mores ice cream!! It was so good - we loved it! They also do waffle cones / ice cream cups / just cookies/brownies too! Service is quick and they have some seating for maybe 5 people or so and a restroom indoors. It's kind of behind the Trader Joe's!

These ice cream sandwiches are huge and can be shared! The mud pie ice cream was my favorite! Coffee and bits of brownies in it was soooo good! I've never had a mud pie ice cream until going to Baked bear! You can select your own cookie and customize your ice cream sandwich the way you want it. 2 different cookies and 2 different ice creams... in one ice cream sandwich...no problem! It all cost the same. You can choose to warm up the cookies and it will not melt the ice cream. 1 sandwich is totally shareable! There's several cookie options to pick from and they have cookie of the month which are limited edition only. Service was great and you can sample the ice creams so you can choose which ones you like the best. $9.50 for a humongous monster ice cream sandwich. Shareable for two in my opinion! Do I recommend this place? Yes mud pie ice cream was fireeee

I love visiting The Baked Bear for amazing mix and match of delectable desserts. I love that I can build my own ice cream cookie sandwich and customize the type of cookie and ice cream flavors and add toppings. I had the chocolate chip top cookie and cookies and cream bottom cookie. I added 2 different flavors of ice cream; blackberry crumble and butter brittle cake (it was an up charge of .50 cents for the extra flavor). My all time favorite cookie flavor is ube but that is seasonal. They offer a variety of toppings as well. Better eat that ice cream cookie sandwich fast in the Texas heat!

Note that the parking garage is free for 2 hours. The desserts themselves are usually quite good. Did not really care for the mango pancake and mango crisps (new menu item) though. The mango pancake is a mango layer about a half cm thick with about an inch of cream wrapped in a mango crepe. The crisps were an interesting powdery nougat with mango bits and a caramel like drizzle. When bit into, the nougat is cool and a bit creamy. The mango pudding was quite good with a very mango taste and a little bit of mango in the pudding itself. All the signature items (have pink crowns on the menu) are quite good from the multiple times I've come by.

Their patio area was FILTHY: tables with dirt and crumbs, napkins on the floor, grime. It was just gross. Then, in the very small space inside where you order, somebody brought in a massive slobbering dog (NOT a service dog) and the staff were completely blasé about it. So not so much into health codes here apparently. We each ordered a taiyaki, and also got 3 macarons and 2 donuts. The ube macaron had great flavor but was completely stale, so it sucks that they are serving old food. The vanilla-passionfruit and yuzu were much better (and fresher). As for the chocolate donut, we liked the flavor but we're not the biggest fans of mochi because something the texture makes it feel like you're eating something raw. Same issue with the pumpkin donut. We do have to say that the taiyakis were awesome. We had recently tried SomiSomi and these ones were definitely better. The "fish" has a great balance of chew and crisp, and we loved the consistency of the soft serve. One of us got the pumpkin and it had such a pleasant light flavor to it that wasn't cloying or artificial. So good. One of us had to get ube and black sesame in a cup because you couldn't swirl them and both flavors were delicious, as was the unique red bean paste (which we fell for when we were in Japan this past summer). If not for the sanitary conditions and semi-catatonic workers, this would be four stars. We can see ourselves coming back again at some point, and hopefully they can train their staff to clean up, smile, and not let customers bring filthy animals into a confined space. Three stars for now.
